This Center is a great place for kids to learn about energy, science and many other subjects. The reason why I rated it a 2 is because I do not appreciate their being such an imposition on pride month on our children. Your beliefs and ideologies should not be imposed on someone else's children. This is a science center, and should not be a propaganda for false ideologies. It was absolutely inappropriate and disturbing. Shame on you!!!

We had an absolute blast!! Everything was immersive and hands-on. Lots of fun learning opportunities, different exhibits, games and activities.... We spent the whole afternoon and could have played for longer! Our favourite was the submarine special exhibit, and the Dome space exhibit.

The Discovery Centre is beginning to show its age. Some exhibits, I think, are from a decade ago. Some of the displays are not working. It's VERY EXPENSIVE to get into the place. It's such a shame. So much potential. The dinosaur display was disappointing. Metal contraptions that were sort of interactive... move a lever, and a wire moves it a half a foot. Most of the kids were yanking the daylights out of them, trying to get some movement. The very first dinosaur exhibit at the door was broken!! One motor was not working. It took all of a half hour to see these dinosaurs at a cost of $69 for three kids and three adults!! The kids were not too amused by the exhibits and had more fun at the old interactive stuff on the second floor. Nothing to do with dinosaurs. How about someone goes around each evening and notes what is broken and fix it for the next day, if possible. Or at least fix it, at the prices we're paying to get inside.

Excellent place to take the children. Especially on a rainy day. It was a bit disappointing to find the dome was closed the 2 days we stayed in Halifax. Plus the cost for entry was way to high. Might have been worth while if the dome was open.

Great place. A lot of information about sustainability, ocean protection and much more. Good place to young kids too with interactive toys and games.

Lots of stuff in there but admission is pricey. Cost $45 for 2 kids and one adult, plus, so much of what's in there requires a lot of reading, which means the kids aren't taking in most of the information. Submarine exhibit was cool but "exploring the ocean to see what you could find" in the submarine was pretty boring. They used it for a bit and the only thing they saw was a school of fish. And, per usual, some of the stuff didn't even work.

It was too crowded. Most of the exhibits were ones you had to read: with all the noise and chaos, it was hard to follow and understand what you were supposed to do. Thus equaling, my kids beingbbored.

My family purchased an annual pass to the Discovery Center, and it has proven to be a fantastic choice for weekend outings. This place is a haven for children, offering a plethora of exciting exploration activities. The Discovery Center boasts an array of interactive exhibits that encourage curiosity and learning. From hands-on experiments to engaging displays, children have endless opportunities to discover and expand their knowledge. It's a perfect destination for fostering creativity and scientific curiosity. One of the highlights of the Discovery Center is the regular schedule of events and special programs. From science shows to workshops and themed exhibitions, there is always something new and captivating happening here. These events add an extra layer of excitement and variety to the experience, ensuring that each visit is unique. The location itself is a must-visit for families with young children. The Discovery Center provides a safe and stimulating environment that fosters imagination and exploration. It's a place where kids can truly immerse themselves in a world of discovery and have a great time while doing so.

Completely disappointed in the new location. A far jump from what it used to be in my opinion. You get either information panel after panel for mature audiences, or areas of let all the kids have a free for all while the parents chat. It almost felt like a daycare of sorts. Wish I could say something positive.

My boys had a great time. Dinosaurs in Motion is a great exhibit and we had a lot of fun moving the dinosaurs around using the controls. Would totally recommend!

Great spot for kids and adults! There's no parking on site but you can pay for parking in the surrounding lots and streets. There's a coat room and a small area for kids stuff (no locked storage though). Each floor has a set of washrooms with a cafe on the top floor. A bit pricy but you could easily spend 2 hours here with kids of all ages. Spacious, clean, and friendly staff. We'll be back!

What a wonderful science museum! Our daughters absolutely loved it. They were enthralled by the oceanography exhibits, as they have a keen interest in nature and the seas - it really brings that part of the world to life. The play submarine in the basement has some really intricate designs and stuff too. My girls also enjoyed the flight simulator and learning all about the human body systems. You will find something to appeal to everyone's taste for science and there's never a boring moment.

Discovery center is a great place to take the kids for the day, and end up becoming a kid again yourself. Lots of hands on educational exhibits and experiments to teach "the Littles", and keep them engaged, and some of them are kinda fun even for us adults.

It was recommended by a colleague at work, for my children. I visited with them and it was a complete waste of my time. I didn't see anything to inspire them scientifically. There was nothing there to seriously challenge my kids, just basic things that people already know about or have encountered.I wished I spent the over $60 entrance fee for family of five, visiting Playdium.

It was fun for the kids. There are 4 floors. Level 0 there was a little area for the kids to do individual tasks like coding, playing with shapes to make a picture, circuits; there was a lot that didnt work such as 2/3 coding computers. There was also little direction on what the activities were. There was a lot of "how to make the world better" and what your doing wrong such as the electronics, composting, what you add to landfills. The last floor was for little children which is nice when the kids are little. It's a small place. I wish it was bigger, open longer, and more science. Although we had fun.

this place is terrible now, the old one was so much better. the new one is incredibly overpriced with barely anything in it. We paid $50 just to get in for 2 adults and a toddler, the only cool thing there (the dome) was NOT included and they wanted us to pay $15 more in order to go in it. This place is not what it used to be, what a massive rip off.

Lots of hands-on science projects and experiments for kids to play with. Special exhibitions are well-curated to actively engage children in the interaction. Educational but also lots of fun for both young learners and parents. Staff are friendly and professionally trained. They know their stuff and what they are doing.

Im visiting from BC and today I took my grandchildren (8 &9yrs) to the Discovery Centre. We were disappointed first that the theatre was closed (on a busy Sunday) and second that the exhibits on the lower level were not working properly. The staff member there couldn’t even get them to work. So, basically we were only able to enjoy the 2nd & 3rd levels. I felt that the price was way too high to have these not open/working.

More to do for the younger kids but we spent a couple of hours walking around.

A great place for kids to have fun in a science way. Lots of things to explore for kids and it's entertaining for adults as well. Dome theater is a total different experience to watch a short movie! Enjoyed my time there!

A must-see if you have children while visiting Halifax! The kids loved it and so did we! Learn about different aspects of science, through play! Appropriate for all ages!

Large variety of exhibits and models ranging from aviation to marine ecosystem. Kids will love it. I as an adult liked it too.

So much fun for kids and adults alike! Our four year old had a great time with the interactive exhibits. We spent about 3.5 hours, and could have stayed longer!

I remember the discovery centre when it was on Barrington street and much, much smaller. This place has come a long way, and it’s nice to see how they’ve invested money into making the discovery centre so incredible. It’s a great place, somewhere you can spend half a day easily. It does get crazy, crazy busy on the weekends though. SO MANY CHILDREN everywhere.
