Hotel has a great location. Check in was easy and fast. The facilities are good. Only problem is the price to room quality ratio is off. The rooms are clean but decor is badly dated and bathrooms need a renovation. Please note that the bed is comfortable and I’m very happy with this hotel. A five star review can’t be given because a real 5 star would have nicer/modern finishes. I recommend it for location and service.

The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. We stayed 4 nights and our room wasn't cleaned once, even though the sticker in the bathroom says with a 4-night stay it would be cleaned after 2 nights. We complained to the front desk multiple times and still nothing was done. We had to call twice just to get clean towels brought up. The lobby is modern but the rooms are very outdated. The bed was comfortable though. The restaurant and it's staff were great. We had breakfast there twice and it was delicious. Overall, we didn't feel this hotel was worth the price we paid. Beware!

My partner and I stayed here for one night about a month ago. The day after checking out I realised I had left my phone charger in the room. Though I acknowledge that leaving it was my own fault, I have since been told via their 'i lost my stuff' portal that my charger was in fact found in the room. I have been to the hotel twice, sent emails to staff, left a voicemail with housekeeping, and asked for callbacks with updates for which I have had none. The item itself is not terribly valuable, but it is mine; and frankly I am disappointed in the lack of customer care when I know for a fact that somewhere in the building is my charger. I have been lied to (being told I will get called back) and run around.

Location is great, walking distance from lots of bars, restaurants, boardwalk etc. which was great because we didn’t have a car. The room was clean but dated. AC did not work well at all which is why it gets 3 stars - had thermostat set to high the whole stay (3 days) and it never got any cooler. Had to ask for a floor fan to help keep us more comfortable at night. Other than that, workers were respectful. I don’t think I’d stay there again in the summer though.

Unfortunately, really disappointed with my stay. There were several issues with my room and even when I brought it to their attention, nothing was done. The bathtub in my room was so clogged, I was standing in two inches of water when I showered. The coverlet on the bed was full of stains, and during my four night stay, housekeeping never visited my room. I arrived on a Friday, brought the issues to the attention of the front desk on Sunday morning and was assured they would be solved. But when I returned that evening, my garbage hadn't even been collected, let alone any maintenance done. From what I understand, it was a busy weekend, the hotel was hosting a few conferences. But I would still expect decent service. Another issue I noticed was when guests were arriving to check in on Sunday afternoon, they were told they would have to wait one to two hours after check in as their rooms were not ready yet. Not my personal issue, but still disappointing.

AVOID this hotel at all costs! We checked in our Thursday and were told that the room would be cleaned on Saturday. We even reminded the front desk early on Saturday to please make sure that the room would be cleaned. When we came back the room hadn’t been cleaned. Only a couple new towels were left and the trash emptied, but the wet towels (which we had left in the bath tub) were still there and the beds were not made, so the room hadn’t been cleaned. The front desk staff promised that the room would be cleaned the next day (Sunday). Sunday came and went and them room also wasn’t cleaned. When I asked about it they kept making excuses and said that “I should have requested it a day before”, to which I said that THEY told me on Thursday that the room would be cleaned on Saturday and it wasn’t, and then THEY told me that the room would be cleaned on Sunday and it wasn’t. The front desk staff is trained to make excuses and treat customers like their lack of service and performance is OUR FAULT, rather than trying to find a solution and ensuring that rooms are cleaned when THEY tells us that they’ll be cleaned. We are paying almost $200 PER NIGHT and the rooms are scheduled to be cleaned every THIRD day, and even with that, the room hasn’t been cleaned at all and it’s now the FIFTH day. We are still here and the front desk told us that “they can’t promise that the rooms will be cleaned”. I’m sorry but if you stay at a hotel for a week you’d imagine that they’d send SOMEONE to clean the room at least a couple times during that week, but no. That seems a lot to ask for the Barrington Hotel. We booked two rooms and paid over two thousand dollars for our stay, so you’d imagine that the service would be better but it’s been ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. We will NEVER stay here and highly discourage others from staying here.

How do they get away with listing this as a 4 star hotel? On a good day I'd give it 2.5 tops. No one greets you when you park to check in. No one helps you take your bags to the room. I had to hunt for a luggage cart and do it myself while I parked in the 15 minute unloading zone. Parking is no longer on site (if it ever was) and I was given 2 sets of instructions as to where to park. Neither set were helpful. Internet access is so slow, and drops the connection at least once per minute. Front desk gave me a number to call for tech support. (FYI - I'm an internet engineer) After an hour on the phone I was told there's nothing he can do. Staff is unhelpful and down right rude. Hotel is falling apart. The location is good, but I'll never stay there again. (FYI - I'm on day 57 of a cross country road trip - I've stayed in hotels and motels for the past 57 days. From cheap motels in the middle of nowhere, to 4 star hotels in NYC. I'm familiar with good and poor service. The Barrington was the worst stay I've had during my current road trip) This is NOT a 4 star hotel!

The location is good. Nice quick walk to the waterfront. The bed was comfortable and although there were stains on the bedding, it felt clean. That’s the positive. The hotel is old and not kept up well. Our group checked in to 2 rooms. One was very dirty. There were facial hair shavings in the sink (a lot) and all over the countertop. Curly hairs on the counter too. Hair all over the bathroom floor. The carpet was dirty. I felt the need to sanitize every surface. The other room had huge pieces of wallpaper peeling off the walls. Also dirty. There was no cleaning while we were there. The front desk was fine, but also somehow unhelpful when we called about a possible early check in. We took a red eye to Halifax and called to ask if it was possible to get in to the room early. They wouldn’t tell us anything until we arrived at the hotel. We would have been fine with either answer, but knowing if we were wasting our time driving from the airport to the hotel early would have been nice. We told people who live in/around Halifax that we weren’t happy with our stay and they knew why. It seems that this is a common occurrence.

I feel that there should be more transparency when it comes to parking. It is literally a 5 minute walk, indoors mind you, but up and down stairs, through a mall food court, through a tunnel occupied by 3 homeless men, with really no clear direction on how to get to the front desk. Personally, had I been aware of the effort involved in just getting from the car to the room I would have chosen another hotel. Oh and if you arrive after 9 pm do not park on P1 south as they tell you to do because the doors in the parking garage are locked for the night! Overall, did not meet my expectations ( which aren't very high) of a 4 star hotel. Closer to 2 star when you throw in the service by the front desk or lack there of.

Don’t let the appearance of the lobby fool you! It looks nice but as soon as you get up to the floors, it’s like going back in time. Needs a major facelift, everything from the hallways to the bathrooms in the rooms. There was staining, possible mold around the tub/in the grout, stains on the bathroom ceiling evident of moisture damage. I wouldn’t feel comfortable bathing my children in the tub, and would only shower myself. The room was fine and bed was comfortable but wallpaper was peeling. The oddest thing was, during a 3 night stay there was no garbage pickup. I don’t expect a full clean of the room but with multiple people in the room and between shopping and food, it builds up quickly. We called the desk and requested a garbage pickup multiple times but no one ever came. Front desk staff were not warm or welcoming by any means. The pool was freeeeeeeezing cold. The best thing about this hotel is the location, and even that is not enough to make me want to stay there again.

Pretty good but no heat in my room, sauna is closed. Room is nice; but i could not get a can opener. Now I’m hungry. Odd place as far as size and what’s open. The liquor stores all close at 5 on Sunday; or maybe earlier. Just seems some stuff is strategically outlandish, and that’s no system to damage your karma by contributing to then do something like have kids.. yeesh..

Parking is so far from the hotel Tempo didn't acknowledge my husband and I and we weren't sat for breakfast when mentioned to the desk staff we were laughed at . Carpet in rooms was nasty and worn . Old style dated wallpaper covers the walls . Bathtub wouldn't drain ... All in all Never going back! terrible for a parent travling alone Or a disabled patron , unsafe no signage for easy navigation thorough . horrible hotel atmosphere. The front desk people are under educated on booking protocol .

This place is very disappointing for a hotel that is recommended in guides. Yes the location is great but other than that the rooms need a total revamp. The sofas in my room were broken, bathtub had red/rust stains, shower Curtain stink, alarm clock was missing a button, I got 10ml of shampoo for a family of 4 for 4 days... indoor pool water was freezing cold, and the front desk lady gave me wrong information... At that price I would expect a decent room and service... Very cheap place and overpriced

Definitely not a 4 star, more like a 2 star. Rooms are dated and worn. We stayed 4 nights and were advised that housekeeping would clean after day 2. That never happened, I complained and was told that it would be dealt with the following day. Come back on day 3 late in the afternoon and the room isn't made up. Front desk person says "housekeeping works till 6, but I'll make sure that they are advised" . Come back at 7, room not made up. Frustrating when you have paid very good money nearly $300/night for terrible service. They sent up a maintenance guy with towels who changed the garbage and brought extra coffee. Still ended up making the bed. What a joke.

Extremely overpriced for what you get. Rooms: Clean but super old. Our room smelled old. Service: Front desk stuff is deliberately unhelpful. Did not provided information they must provide without request like parking info, security deposit and wifi info. They make you feel like you owe them for staying at the hotel. Location: Close to everything, right in the city center. But parking is outside and at an extra cost. Will avoid this hotel in the future.

Location can’t be beat, you are right at the edge of downtown and the north end of town. Walking distance to just about anything you could want. It’s an older hotel now, more of a “glory-days of business behind it” kind of now. But if you can get a good price on a room it is excellently situated. Our room AC was a little noisy and everything is a bit dated, but comfortable and clean for sure. Good stay.

Unfortunately when you book through Expedia they give you a dated room with a bad view. However the Tempo restaurant in the hotel is excellent. We had breakfast there and it was really good. Our server Lisa was amazing. She had us bent over laughing with her stories. We felt like we were in an Instagram reel. She was very uplifting and made our day.

We booked a 6 night stay here but had to check out early after the first night. The room was not clean, and the hotel was missing multiple of their advertised amenities. The rooms are stuffy with no ac or air flow to speak of. Our shower pipes made a horrible sound to the point where my partner couldn't use it. Maintenance said it was the pipes and front desk refused to move our room. The front desk then tried to lie and say it could be fixed the next day. You would need to remove part of the drywall to access the pipes. We decided it's not worth it to stay and not have a proper shower. Also, the parking is a decent walk, which would have been nice to know beforehand as my partner has mobility issues

I saw a few bad reviews in this space regarding this hotel, I'm not sure why. It was very convenient to all things downtown. Room was a little dated, but it was clean and lots of space. Great value for money, I can highly recommend.

Very cost effective with an amazing location located right in the heart of downtown, low fuss - if you're looking for somewhere to stay that doesn't need to be fancy and just a place to sleep, it is solid. I would've preferred that the TV have remote casting capabilities.

If you don’t mind 1-star rooms and service and you need to stay in downtown Halifax close to the waterfront for cheap, the Barrington may be for you. The rate is much lower than other much nicer hotels downtown. This gives the Barrington its 2nd star. Otherwise, stay away. I booked a room for my spouse and teenage daughter (July 2023), asking for a sofa bed and a queen bed. Got to the hotel lobby and it smelled like smoke. Got to the room and there was no sofa bed. When I called they said I hadn’t asked for one, which means than when I called the hotel (it was a direct booking) they purposely excluded the request. Said they had no rooms with sofa beds, but could bring a rolling cot in. The cot had a huge stain underneath (visible to all as it folded up to move it) and it felt like a pile of lumber when I laid down on it. We wanted out. I went to the front desk, and magically a room with a sofa bed was available. It was too little too late tho. My booking was cancelled without penalty but it was an enormous hassle and took out three hours from a gorgeous, clear-skied Halifax day. And we had to find a new hotel. Will not go back.

This was honestly the worst room we have stayed in. The location of this hotel is fantastic, the restaurant was good but that is where it ends. The hotel is very tired and old. They charge way to much for the quality of what you get. The pool area was disgusting, dirty, dark and very unwelcoming. The room was were given the wallpaper was peeling of the walls, we had to move the bed to plug in a power bar that fed one whole side of the room. King size bed with a queen size head board. Air conditioner leaking on the carpet, toilet didn't shut off. Room was cleaned so well I stepped on a fish hook, luckily it didn't go into my foot. Our room was also damp to the point of our bedding being damp every night. When these things were pointed out to the front desk they couldn't have cared less. There is no way this should be ranked a 4 star hotel. I would maybe give it a 2.

I am very unhappy with my stay at The Barrington. When we checked in we confirmed with the staff that we would like a late checkout. They told us that we could have a 1pm checkout and if we wanted an even later check out we could call back in the morning when a manager was available. The next morning around 10:50am cleaning staff knocked repeatedly on our door , we answered and said that we have 1pm check out. At around noon which I was dressing cleaning staff again knocked but then entered our room, while I was naked. My husband ran to the door and reiterated that we have a 1pm checkout and to not return until then. I was extremely upset and could not believe that staff had entered while I was undressed. We no longer felt comfortable in our room so decided to leave earlier than we had planned. When we went to the front desk to check out we informed them of the situation that had occurred. The front desk staff did not seem to understand the gravity of what had happened and offered us no compensation. This experience ruined our final day of vacation in Halifax and had a negative impact on my mental health. I felt very unsafe in the hotel and my concerns were taken lightly.

The hotel is in a great location and the service was really good. It is definitely an older hotel and the rooms could use an update but it did the trick and I had everything I needed in my room. My sheets and towels were clean but the carpets and furniture in the room had a musty smell. I was unable to open a window for fresh air as the window latch was broken. Overall I was happy with my stay.

Great central place to stay when visiting Halifax. Waterfront is 5 minutes away, and the citadel a nice 10 minute walk up the hill! Rooms are of a good size, clean and well maintained. However, no safe, and I felt the room was very stuffy, windows don't open, and aircon wasn't working. Breakfast had good choices and polite staff. Recommended

  • 2/5 Kat M. 7 months ago on Google
This place was fine - but I wouldn’t stay here again. Room was a decent size but everything was old and having carpet on the floor made it feel a little gross. The cleaning service doesn’t come every day and I had to request more towels. I was told they came every other day and because I got my towels and bed made in between no one came back the next day. I chose a hotel over an air BnB for the hotel level of service. Also, the bathtub is very low and mine had a large rust stain. Also, this is a personal pet peeve but the elevator door was always covered in finger prints which gives an overall dirty impression. The front desk staff was nice and the woman who came with clean sheets and towels was also very nice. But the hotel itself is a pass. Good location though! Also, I can’t speak for other meals, but skip the hotel restaurant breakfast. Over priced and not great. Go to one of the other amazing restaurants close by or the foodcourt across the street at Scotia Square.

The hotel is in a great location. The couch in our room was pretty new which was nice. Some of the decor is outdated but the room was clean and it was a cheaper stay than the rest of downtown so can’t complain too much. The parking wasn’t too far from the hotel and if you know the pedway you don’t have to go outside to access it.

  • 5/5 Melissa S. 6 months ago on Google
The location cannot be beat for ease of getting around. I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to go. Love that the rooms aren't super updated which leaves them unique. We enjoyed the pool daily.

  • 3/5 Courtney B. 6 months ago on Google
The pictures are not a true depiction of the hotel. Rooms are ancient. They smell like smoke. Stains on lamp shades. Bed was not bad. Shower is ok. Mold on shampoo dispenser. The location is perfect but it is by no means a romantic getaway hotel.

  • 5/5 Natalie C. 5 months ago on Google
When I say the service of this hotel was above and beyond, that’s an understatement! They went above and beyond to accommodate me, the desk staff was incredibly nice, the rooms were clean and very comfy, only minor problems with mine was one lamp was not working and it was a bit loud but was not an issue for me personally. The price as well if pretty reasonable and their parking is cheaper than any of the other hotels I’ve stayed at in Halifax. They also have a breakfast restaurant attached to the hotel. I definitely will be staying there in the future, and if any staff members see this thank you again for the amazing customer service!

  • 4/5 Julie H. 5 months ago on Google
My only complaint about this hotel is the beds. Not comfortable, too hard. Other than that, it is right in the action of the city and we stay there for that reason and it's the best rate in the city. Staff are lovely, we haven't tried the restaurant as there are so many around the area we like to try. Parking is a bit of a pain as it is in a parkade that is about a 5-10 min walk from the hotel. It's connected by walkways to shopping and the casino. Lots of good and little bad.

  • 1/5 Muhammad M. 5 months ago on Google
I strongly advise that you avoid The Barrington Hotel. It is an overpriced, unclean, and poorly managed establishment. The rooms are filthy, the staff is rude and unhelpful, and the overall experience is a complete waste of money. Instead, I would recommend staying at one of the many other hotels in Halifax that offer better value for your money.

  • 2/5 Wayne M. 6 months ago on Google
There is no parking at this hotel Parking across the street and then you will have to walk ten minutes to get back to the hotel. Not told to me at time of booking. If I had known, I would not have booked there. I sometimes have mobility issues . So I was quite surprised. I should note that they removed the parking garage fee. The room was very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly

  • 4/5 Kayla W. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely a lovely place to stay for a reasonable price. Walking distance to most of the downtown Halifax area. The staff were very accommodating. Just keep in mind, there is a mini fridge in the room but not toaster or microwave. You can see the front desk to get something warmed up. Great parking if needed as well.

  • 3/5 Liz H. 2 years ago on Google
The rooms were clean and the staff were kind. My only complaint is the pool! The area wasn't clean either time we went down despite nobody being there, and the water was far too cold to handle! I definitely do not believe that it's heated, and a few other guests shared the same feeling while we were on the pool deck.

  • 1/5 Lacey B. 2 years ago on Google
I would not recommend this place to anyone. We booked for a week as we are in the middle of a move and our new home is not yet ready for us so this was already stressful but when we arrived, the front-desk person was very rude. We had booked online under my name and my husband’s card and because he was at work, while my daughter and I were planning on setting our stuff up in the hotel without him, the person at the desk seemed to be implying that I’d possibly stolen his card and was very difficult, not wanting to let us into our room since he was not with us until the evening. Then we were told there was actually a fee for having pets despite the hotel saying it’s pet-friendly and already charging us for what seemed our entire stay. They will charge you extra once you get there if you have animals which isn’t mentioned anywhere. If you book online, they also will not give you your Aeroplan points and this isn’t mentioned until you arrive either. Then there is a $25/night parking fee; however, parking is not attached to the building or even accessible by elevator while the spaces are tiny and few with an inconvenient operational system. The pool was filthy and extremely cold and the restaurant wasn’t offering sit-down service or any food options apart from the cafe/canteen for the entirety of our stay. This also wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the site. There was additionally no housekeeping service “because of Covid” (which was interesting as all other hotels were offering it) so we were responsible for transporting our trash and regularly going down to request towels and toiletries. Halfway through our stay, our toilet experienced issues where brown sludge would cough up from it and the bathtub consistently took approximately thirty minutes to drain after use. I honestly can’t think of anything great to report here apart from the location being great but likely only if you didn’t bring your own car.

This hotel is all about location. Easy access to the waterfront boardwalk. Walking distance to all the Halifax attractions like the Pier 21, maritime museum and the citadel. Hotel is connected with a covered bridge to the Scotia Center across the street which has a large food court and shopping center and direct access to the parking garage. rooms were well appointed and comfortable though the bathrooms were a bit dated. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. there was a reasonable gym. Barrington street is like Toronto's front street. Hence all good restaurants and other entertainment is within walking distance. We found the hotel so convenient that we spent our first 3 nights and returned for the last 3 nights on our way back to Toronto after completing our 15 day tour of the maritime provinces. to our group of 6 people it became a home away from home

Do not stay here. I checked into the room this evening, quickly see how run down and uncleanly the condition was. I go downstairs and ask about being switched, was dismissed by maybe the manager (short hair, white blazer) who did not care at all to try to problem solve the situation. They were incredibly curt and defensive that I would be unhappy to stay the night in the condition it was in. To be honest, I could not bring myself to sleep there, so I checked out without staying and drove home. It was that bad. Stained carpets, damp room, mine didn’t have AC just maybe a 1970s thermostat, dirty tub drain and walls, dirty bathroom floor that had reddish brown smears on the floor (the thought of it being bodily fluid was enough for any decent person to call it quits). Listen, if they charged $50 a night (that’s the most I could reasonably see it being worth) then I can’t say I would be surprised at the poor conditions. Unfortunately, they have assessed their value to be much higher than that. I cannot understand why this hotel is rated higher than 3 stars (and that’s if their customer service was excellent, again, mine was not).

The location is very convenient and you can walk to the waterfront without ever going outside. You can also walk almost anywhere from here. Check in and out was quick and easy. The lady I dealt with was polite and friendly. The rooms are a bit dated and old looking, but for the price I paid, it can’t be beat. The rooms were clean, well air conditioned and pretty quiet. There is a pool and a half decent gym available for use. Check out websites such as Expedia as I was able to get a much better rate there compared to the posted rate on the hotel website

Nice hotel in a great location. Check in was easy and friendly. The view from our room was great. It was clean and the bathroom had been renovated and the shower was great. Parking can be an issue for some people as it is a bit of a walk and the pedway closes early so drop your luggage off at the hotel first. If you don't need in and out service for parking it would be cheaper to pay at the garage instead of getting the hotel to validate your parking as they charge it to your room. They charged us for 3 days of parking but we were only there for 2 and I still had to pay the garage to get out. I would stay again but look for different parking arrangements. Update: We contacted the hotel and they fixed the parking issues no problem.

The Hotel was very centrally located to all the attraction. The staff was friendly and helpful. With a fractured ankle they gave me a room on the first level and also put in grab handles etc. so that I would be comfortable getting in and out of the bath tub without any problem. Overall it was a comfortable stay there.

Room was dated with peeling wall paper. But clean. I was surprised I couldn't get a coffee out side of the room provided coffee without leaving the hotel. But all in all I enjoyed my stay. the pool and sauna was lovely and the bed was very comfortable

You are in the middle of the pub and restaurant district. Life jazz and other music is quite common. Easy walk to the waterfront boardwalk with lots of little stores, restaurants and the ship Museum. I liked the little indoor pool and gym. Our room was clean and nicely done. The bathroom is more than adequate. There is no breakfast included, but a restaurant at street level. Staff was reserved, but friendly and helpful, when prompted.

We stayed here for 4 nights. 2 adults and 3 children. The room was clean and had the cot bed we requested ready for us. While not overly spacious the room had plenty of space for all of our belongings and with three kids we have plenty! We even had a view of the ocean out our window. The hotel is in an excellent location and is quiet and safe. The pool area was clean and inviting but the pool is not heated very much so we didn’t use it more then once. The staff were kind and very helpful when we requested things. Our only concern was with 4 nights we did not have a room tidy once. It would have been nicer to have our garbage changed, supplies topped up and beds made up. However, for the price we paid, it was worth that slight inconvenience and frankly we can make our own bed! Hunting down toilet paper was a bit annoying but again not a big deal.

Lobby is modern but the rooms are very contemporary. Rooms feels like a house out of the 50s wall paper and all. No microwave in rooms which was disappointing but everything was clean. Pool is in closed with no natural light, very small and shallow. Nothing fancy

We were staying in the city overnight for a birthday celebration. This is a nice and clean hotel and I recommend it if you are just looking for a reassuring place to sleep. It is nothing fancy so if you are looking for luxury there are other hotels that fit the bill. The one negative was that we were told to park at in the Scotia Square parkade, but then they did not validate our parking, saying it would be cheaper to just pay at the paystation. It was disappointing revelation considering they recommend it to us so parking should be included. Otherwise, it was fine for one night.

Unfortunately had a really bad stay at this hotel. The rooms really need to be updated. The shower drain backed up. There was a really loud noise coming from the vents all night. I asked the front desk to be moved for the remainder of my stay and they advised all the rooms have that loud noise. Really overpriced for such a poor quality hotel.

The worst hotel I have ever had the displeasure of staying in. This poor excuse of a business runs on selling lies. No continental breakfast, no air conditioning, broken sauna, broken showers, boarded up hot tub, rude staff (excluding maintenance), terrible internet connection, no laundry service, and a general lack of respect. My partner and I have a dust allergy, the room we were given reeked of cologne and had no air flow. We asked for the shower to be repaired at 10am on our second day before we left for an appointment, only to return to our room to find that the staff had not even bothered to check out the issue during the 8 hours we were away. The staff accused us of lying about our issue and refused to even consider issuing us another room. We were told that the entirety of Halifax was booked solid so we should not attempt to book a new room. We called Hampton Inn by Hilton and got a new room booked within 10 minutes. We were charged a half day, despite the fact that they knew the issue in our room would not be able to be fixed within a day. The manager was rude to my partner and tried to force us to stay in a room without a functional shower. We had booked a week long stay but the rude behavior and refusal to investigate problems left us needing to book a functional hotel. I have a severe mobility issue and had to walk through a mall with minimal signage to even attempt to find the location. Every single one of the women working front desk over these two days were rude and treated us as if we were causing issues. If you have a disability or sensory issues, please avoid this spot. The staff are extremely argumentative and will refuse to look into minor issues with your room. They will attempt to charge you extra for their own mistakes, and they will talk down to you the entire time. The manager was soft spoken but insisted we didn't need a new room despite the broken shower. My partner spent a few years working construction and knows that in order to fix the shower, the wall would need to be removed. The manager tried forcing us to stay another night despite all the issues, so we canceled our stay and went to Hampton Inn. Edit to add: my partner and I are covered in bedbug bites. The carpet in our room was also stained and we found trash on the floor of our room. None of the trash cans had any garbage bags and when we asked for a few small bags for our room, we were given a singular (huge) trash bag that did not fit any of our garbage cans. I am a professional cleaner by trade and the bag we were given was clearly meant for the janitorial carts.

Great location but the rooms are stuffy with non working air conditioning. The parking is not included in the price of the room. The staff we're not helpful with the exception of a man named Mario. For the price point you can definitely find a better room. Do better Barrington hotel.

The staff was very friendly and service was excellent. Easy check in and out (there is Express checkout to drop the cards in a box), gym and pool are available. Bed was comfortable and room was a good size, would only note the room looked dated. Parking available in the Scotia centre across the street (connected via indoor Link). Good price and convenient overall!

Air conditioner was noisy so we couldn’t run it at night. Shower was out of shampoo and body wash. Pillows weren’t great. Credit card system wasn’t working and they wouldn’t take cash. Non-stop frustrations. Mattress was good. Won’t be back.

The room was clean, although outdated, staff was friendly and the location was great. However, I left something valuable in my room. I realized it a couple hours after I checked out so it was well before anyone new had checked in. I called and informed them and they acted like they could care less. The manager even emailed me to say that they had determined no investigation was deemed necessary. It was very disappointing to realize that a staff member had pocketed my item and the management did not care to get it back for me. It wasn't a small item either so a check on their cameras could have easily determined who took it.

I have stayed at the Barrington Hotel a couple of times now and have had a fine experience. The rooms are clean and a fair price and the staff have been always friendly. However, this past weekend (May 13-14) when I stayed I forgot my prescription glass and my book in the room. By the time I realized I had left these items I was already home (a 2 hour drive away). When I called the hotel to see if they had found my items and if they could return them to me I was placed on hold until the line was disconnected. When I called back a second time I was told by the costumer service representative that “she would handle it” and hung up on me with no warning or farewell. I called back the next day to check if they had found my items, I spoke to the same women who said they had not been found but she would check again and give me a call back. Again she hung up on me, this time without taking down my number to call me back. Later that day I called back for a fourth time and was connected with a different costumer service representative who took my information and descriptions of the items I left and filled out the lost and found form (something the other women had never even mentioned). She also informed me that I would should receive and email in the next 2-4 days if my items had been found. After hanging up the phone I immediately received an email saying my items were found (meaning they most likely had been found on Sunday when I first called/the day I checked out) and that I had to fill out a form on a third party website to get them mailed back to me. At the end of the form it said to contact the hotel to ensure my items were packaged and shipped out. So I called back a fifth time and was told that I had to speak to house keeping about getting my items shipped out but since they were done for the day I had to call back the next morning. The next morning rolls around and I call housekeeping only to be sent to voicemail. I left a voicemail with my information and details about why I was calling. I did not receive a call back. I called 3 more times leaving subsequent messages and never heard back from house keeping at all. In total I had to call the hotel 9 times. I finally receive my items via the mail today (which cost $40 to have shipped) and although I am happy to finally have my belongings back and I rather disappointed with how the whole situation was handled. This was something when handled probably took all of 5-10 minutes on the side of the hotel staff but it took 4 days for me to have a hotel staff help me and return my items to me.
