We stayed here by luck of the draw through Hotwire, Aug 27-29. We upgraded to the suite and the room was very spacious and comfortable. The service from our guest experience host, Emily, was absolutely fabulous. She is one of a kind and made sure to go above and beyond to enhance our experience. The food from room service was delicious. The added birthday gift at the end of our stay was a wonderful, unexpected touch. Thank you for the stay.

We stayed here on our anniversary trip and fell in love with this hotel! The staff were all extremely friendly and very helpful. I had mentioned when booking that it was our anniversary and they went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay, and even left a card for us (along with some treats) when we got to our room. Everything was spotless and the hospitality team made sure it stayed that way. The only drawback is that it's a little difficult to get into the parking garage during rush hour, but we didn't have too hard a time. It's in a very central location so it was easy to walk wherever we needed to go within downtown Halifax.

Beautiful suite. They upgraded us for no cost. We had the package with wine, charcuterie tray, and 100$ food voucher . The brisket and seafood chowder were amazing. A little pricey but the experience was wonderful all around.

Our room was nice. It was clean and had lots of space. We were upgraded for a small fee. The Front desk was consistently helpful. The view was ok. The location was fantastic! Excellent stay!Good price. Recommended!

On-site underground paid parking. Which smells amazing! Not sure what is pumped into the air but it's so clean. Doesn't smell like a parking garage at all. The entrance into the hotel is breathtaking. The chandeliers, gold accents, ceilings, art, seating etc.. it's stunning. We had the suite and were welcomed with a nice arrival gift. My only complaint is the bathroom was really small, didn't have a fan and the bottom of the bathtub was uneven and spongy, it was weird. The on site restaurant I highly recommend.! Food and service and fantastic. Across the street from The Public Gardens, a must see.

We stayed 3 nights at Lord Nelson and our stay was absolutely perfect. The entire staff was so helpful and accommodating to any request that we had. Room was great, the location is perfect and everything is in walking distance. We enjoyed having the pub on site as well! Highly recommend this hotel!

I really enjoyed my stay here. The room was great, the one thing I really would have wished for is an outlet by the side table so I could charge my phone next to me while I sleep. The location is completely amazing, cannot be beat for downtown accommodations! The restaurant was excellent for both service and taste.

We had a lovely stay at the Nelson. It is well located near tons of dining options and local attractions. Service is top notch; decor is exceptional considering the age of the building, kudos to the maintenance team to keep it up. Parking is available and right next door ( indoor access). Restaurant on site was one of the best meal we had while in Nova Scotia which is very convenient. I would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful hotel! The staff are so friendly and helpful. My room was spacious, comfy bed. Ideal location. The walls are on the thin side so i could hear my noisy neighbors. There wasnt much in the way of drawer space for my clothes. I’d stay here again

I chose to stay here for three reasons: 1. Price 2. Location 3. Dog friendly. I am happy I ended up staying here as the staff were super friendly. Actually, I booked via phone and the first person I interacted with from The Lord Nelson was really nice. My only issue: our room was small and had a view of the neighbouring building's HVAC system. Other than that, everything was great. I would consider staying here again next time I visit Halifax.

I was nervous about booking this hotel as I’ve never been to it before. Although an employee named love had welcomed us in with a kind smile helped with luggage when he put them in our room. The hotel was extremely fancy and the elevators were extremely fast. Another employee named Jonathan was really nice, as he spoke to my children kindly and at the end organized and put our bags in our car. He also kindly offered to help a lot! We needed a microwave and asked the receptionist in the lobby, who said they’d have someone bring one up to the room. Another employee was sent to our room to bring it, he even connected it for us. He was super kind and also later on brought up forks to our room when we asked. Yes. Forks. They went all the way to floor nine to get us forks. I love that they go through so much work for the simplest things. Although they had no pool when we asked, the receptionist offered to give my kids the YMCA passes for the one nearby for free. On my checkout when I met the hotel coordinator Chantelle , as soon as she was told I am a local guide . Decided to give me a tour of the hotel’s Decoration history which i found fascinating. The room was clean and amazing! We loved our stay here, and hope they have a chain.

Had an amazing stay! Great service and staff is very friendly! Read some reviews about no fitted sheets on the beds!!! Who cares!! And as for bad ratings for housekeeping being loud, we stayed 2 night and didn't even know they were on the floor unless you left the room or knocked on the door to ask if we needed anything! Very quiet and efficient. Beds were comfy and rooms very clean and nice. Met a man named Morris who played the grand panio in the mezzanine area and and he wanted me to put a good word in and get them to hire him😉😉 so Morris if you see this there ya go you have hands of an angel and made my stay more enjoyable with your sweet music!!!

My husband and I just spent 7 weeks at the Lord Nelson while he had cancer treatment! There aren’t many words to describe this Hotel. When u walk in the u walk back in time when hotels were wood and marble not tin and glass. It’s beautiful. The rooms were awesome with wide screen smart TVs I hooked my Netflix off my phone to ! The beds were comfy snd spotless. The staff inside snd out are remarkable! It made leaving bitter sweet. We were anxious to get home of course , but sad to leave the new friends we made. ! I recommend you have to try this Hotel u won’t be disappointed!

Front desk staff was adorable. Breakfast was terrible...paper bag with yoguart...l don't eat dairy....a super hard apple...cereal bar...and cranberry juice. The menu does not change from day to day. Housekeeping staff...incredibly intent on rushing us out. Check out is noon....3 times before 1130 they came to the door and asked what time we were leaving. We had arranged a late 1230 check out. It was a blizzard! Roads were not plowed and police were advising stay off the roads. If l lived close..l would not need a hotel room...my drive involved highways that were not safe...not my opinion...RCMP opinion. We left at 12:29....only to discover we were not alone. Housekeeper had harassed others on our floor.

Great location if you want to be in downtown core! Older hotel with so much charm and grace. Rooms are a bit smaller than newer hotels. My room although cozy was small, had to step between toilet and counter to shut the bathroom door! Bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Loved that window was able to open to get some fresh air. Great view of the park. Still a lovely hotel just remember some rooms from a different era space wise :)

Room and hotel is generally clean. This is an old hotel so keep that in mind. Walls are thin, rooms are a tad smaller and no fan in the bathroom. The location is great. You are in the center of everything happening and within walking distance of all the attractions. We had a few issues with our key not working on our door. Didn't get an explanation for it, just a "it's all good" from the staff. Overall the hotel is good for the price, front staff could use some training on etiquette. Cleaning staff was excellent.

Very beautiful and historic building. Incredibly clean rooms and great service. If you however want to sleep beyond 8 am, forget it. Loud talking, doors banging, vacuum cleaners running all outside your room door as early as 7 am. This is true for most hotels so try your best to get a corner room where things “might” be quieter or go with a suit so you have a separate bedroom inside your suit with an extra door you can close to insulate from the sound.

The location is great, close to restaurants, tourist attractions, medical centers and many businesses. Underground parking us avaliable for quite a high rate, but it is convenient. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The daily rates are very expensive. I really liked that there were no carpets in the rooms, they look much cleaner. The bathroom was much to small and did not have a fan, making showering very claustrophobic and uncomfortable. The bathroom was also dingy looking, I'm not sure if it is because it's old and needing repair or in need of a good cleaning. It is quite loud in the hotel all through the night. The walls are thin and people in the hallways and rooms are easily heard, along with the traffic and noise from outside. There is a restaurant on site, but there are much better options close by for eating. The best thing about the hotel is the location.

Room was nice and quite clean. Check in was easy but parking is $32/day…we parked in public lot around corner for $11/day. Hair dryer is a joke for women just hot air with no volume. I wanted to be near the public garden which is beautiful but head east to harbour and it’s dirty dirty dirty. Elevator out of order created long wait times with absolutely no Covid safety restrictions but I guess they are following government guidelines however 6 or 8 people doesn’t seem safe. I think for the $700 we paid for 2 nights you could get better value closer to the boardwalk

My rating is based on: room, location, noise, ease of stay, and value for money. Room: was nice and relatively clean. There was grim and dust on the baseboards, not a huge deal but expected cleaner. Location: good, close to the public gardens and the citadel, however there is a lot of partying and transient populations screaming and yelling. The noise in the rooms was a lot, and kept me up. Ease of stay: yes this is an old building but the elevator waits were so excessive that people started getting in the elevators to go up just to go down. We were walking up and down flights of stairs because of this. None of the staff were wearing face masks, as is not mandated, but were shaming us for wearing masks. I have an anxiety disorder, and need to wear a mask. I don’t need to be shamed and mocked for this. Value for money: one night was reasonable, the other night was about triple the price because a wedding was in the hotel. Had we of known, for noise even, we would have stayed elsewhere. For a place that cost around $700 for two nights, with parking an extra $30/day, and no breakfast, I feel this was over priced and not worth the money. Bottom line: it wasn’t the worst place I’ve ever stayed but it wasn’t enjoyable and I felt like it wasn’t worth the money.

Nice location. Close to everything you need. Room wasn't anything special. Bit expensive for what you get. Interior in the lobby was really nice and pretty but that was it. Was given mismatching informations all of the time. There were no common understanding between the staff. I wanted a late check out was told the only way was to book an extra night. That was 300$. Then I spoke to another person who said I could have a late check out for 100$. But I already booked an extra night. Spent a lot of time rearranging that and when I had to pay for the late check out, all of sudden it was 150$. I did not accept that and after some while staff agreed on the original 100$. Nicest people was the cleaning staff.

I'd say it's a nice hotel but it's missing a few key features; bathroom exhaust fan, bedside lamps that you can turn on and off without having to get out of bed and walking 10 feet, plugs near the bed, wires hanging freely under the desk, and a couple more issues. Also, skip the mixed drinks, 3 rye and gingers without so much as a buzz in their bar. Nice looking but looks only go so far. No breakfast. I'll be staying at the Delta or the Marriott for my weekend getaways. Maybe these comments will help your stay a little better.

Stay away from this hotel. The pictures are nothing like the reality. The minute you walk in side the hotel you’ll be blinded by the bright fluorescent cool lights inside the interior of the hotel which shows every ugly details of cracks on the walls and floors. The funny part is that these ugly light bulbs are placed on beautiful expensive looking chandeliers. The furniture looks beaten up and old. The front desk staff are nice but they look tired. They are not well groomed. You would expect this hotel with that much history to have better services. They need to do major maintenance and repairs. The elevators are so slow, old, and some have key scratched graffiti seen through a cheap paint job. The first room they gave us was so bad and depressing. Giant room with a small old bathroom with a scratched & beaten up door. The ac/heater was an old unite sticking out the window. The curtains were not customized for their windows. There are huge gaps between each window which did not serve the purpose for blackout curtains. In general, for the price you’re paying, you would expect much better quality of a hotel. While having breakfast in the morning in the main dinning room, they play old 90’s pop/R&B music which doesn’t go with the theme of a hundred year old hotel. I feel bad for the staff, because they are only here to work and they always get the complaints from customers as we have witnessed in several occasions of our stay at Lord Nelson Hotel.

EXTREMELY overrated hotel. the rooms are old and outdated with all doors/ drawers / cabinets / closets and anything wooden smelling and feeling grungy and stale. these are also all misaligned or extremely hard to close/open, constantly getting stuck and needed excessive force to actually pull open or push closed. there are no typical touches you'd find in hotels in this price range - things like robes or slippers are nonexistant. the bathroom experience overall is a bad one - the shower and sink were both clogged. the bathroom also has many stains and the curtain is tinted yellow and feels unhygienic. overall the room felt super outdated and icky with ac sporadically working. the walls are also super thin so you can hear every tiny sound anyone makes. for being the most expensive hotel in the city, the experience was not a pleasant one at all. you could spend half as much and have a much nicer stay. this hotel could use major room renovations to give it a fresh/clean/modern feel while preserving the modern charm of the lobby and hallways which are really the only redeeming qualities.
