YUM. YUM. YUM. Sooooo grateful to have an Ethiopian spot in Nova Scotia (we drove from Wolfville to enjoy it!). Delicious, flavourful, healthy, and satisfying. The owner / chef is very welcoming and happy to explain her dishes to those who are unfamiliar with this style of cuisine. The coffee was a perfect way to cap off the meal. Will return as soon as possible. :) Thank you for the lovely meal.

I’ve been dying to try this place and finally went last night. It did not disappoint! The food was absolutely incredible, and the service was great. I’m not sure her name, but she was so sweet and kept bringing over more bread, brought more sauce over (we didn’t even ask, she just noticed and brought some more steaming sauce over!!) and we finished our meal with a steaming hot coffee that was incredible. With the coffee she brought over fresh doughnuts! It was such a nice experience. Will be back for sure!!!!

It was so good I forgot to take a picture before devouring the dish. THE CHICKEN IS DELICIOUS. The coffee as well. Everything was good. Love the decor and the cozy ambiance. ✨️ Very kind and helpful women who were the cook and server. Very happy I passed by, thank you! 😊

OMG amaaazing!! Moved here from Toronto and was thrilled to see that Halifax has an Ethiopian restaurant. Came for lunch and got the combination plate, was soooo delicious. And only $15! Will definitely be back 🎉

Amazing food. Super healthy, gluten-free, the red lentils are my favorite but also the lamb tibs dish. Chef Aster cooks with love & delivers an authentic culinary adventure.

So happy to have Ethiopian food again. The food and service are exceptional. Lots of vegetarian options and gluten-free. Quality and portion size was good too. Tried the Ethiopian coffee as well. Be prepared to eat with your hands it's the best way to enjoy the experience.

Best food makes my heart and soul warm whether I’m having a bad or a good day. When I need good vibes this is where I go. Tsehaye is so lovely, makes the most delicious food and works so hard someone needs to gift her with an all expenses paid vacation. Sit in dining is cozy with lots of beautiful art to appreciate 😍 The traditional coffee is so yummy! I do takeout often cause I’m so busy but love when I get any chance to stay and eat in✨

I've only had Ethiopian food one other time and this time it blew my socks off! This restaurant is owned by the sweetest cutest lady. She manages the whole operation and cooks it all. I didn't understand the menu, but it didn't matter, she brought a specially made dish for us after asking us what ingredients we liked and it was sooo tasty! Many different kinds of flavours, loved the beet side the most! The price was very reasonable too! 15 bucks a dish! Highly recommend, would come back for sure!!

The food was amazing. I travel a lot and have tried Ethiopian food if different countries - this one was just special. Great for those who want to try something new, too. Overall, great experience!

Quickly becoming one of our favourite restaurants! The food is amazing, and you can tell it’s a family business where everybody cares about the quality of the service and the food. The tea and coffee are phenomenal too. I would definitely recommend the restaurant to anybody!

The wonderful owner made suggestions of what to try since we had never been there before. Everything was delicious. The coffee is the best I have ever tasted, no contest. She roasts and grinds her own coffee, and it really shows she knows what she's doing.

Best place for Ethiopian Cuisine in Halifax, Owner is very polite and accommodative. The taste of the food is out of the world. I strongly recommend everyone to try this restaurant at-least once.

I am so happy to have found this restaurant, it is some of the best food I have eaten in Halifax. Each dish was wonderfully spiced and flavourful. Three generations of my family loved it! The restaurant is lovely and homey and the service was wonderful. We will be back again soon!

We ordered the vegetarian plate and they had only 2 vegetables instead of 4+ vegetables as normally provided in Ethiopian restaurants. Also the dish was very spicy which has not been my experience in other Ethiopian restaurants. The owner is trying hard to make this a restaurant for good Ethiopian food and I am sure this will become a great restaurant in the near future.

4.5 at least. Very very good. Great staff and friendly. Fast service. Excellent cooking, prep, and taste. Love the coziness of the space but that meant wearing masks felt appropriate at times too👍 oh and injera was particularly good quality. Get the lamb, beef, and vegetable tray!

Cool little Cafe to eat Ethiopian food. The waitress and owner , ( same person ) was lovely and asked if it was our first time and gave us a sampler plate. Very good sampler plate, the fermented bread, salad, lentils, meat stew, mash and pork was very good. Our Shay teas were very good as well. Reasonably priced and we were full. Only downside is it's a small area to dine in, maybe 20 ppl can eat in and the parking lot is super small.

The food here is incredible. It is delicious and the portions are generous, for a very reasonable price. The staff is great as well. Having moved a few years ago from Ottawa, I was on the lookout for a while for Ethiopian food here. I am happy to say there is a great place for it in Halifax now at Aster!
