Not local friendly. The staff (family) cares for foreign customers with a dramatic affection and they seemed to be annoyed by the presence of locals. Cannot recommend for local people. There are many good other places around.

Location was fairly good, Owners and staff very official, Not friendly,specially owner of the lady.other staff also,except minor staff cleaning boy, he was very innocent, to him also I didn't see owner treat well. Only location advantage for them. Actually totally management should be taken proper hospitality training

Sulochna’s cooking class was very informative and the food we made was the best rice and curry we had in 2 weeks on the island. Can’t wait to do this at home! She was also very flexible with the time we could make for the class. Highly recommended.

We did the cooking class with Sulochana and she was excellent. I don't know if it's normal but it was just the 2 of us with her which was great for us. The view is also very nice, as the building is right next to the river.

100% recommended! Beautiful and clean rooms, very friendly and delicious food. If you come from Negombo make sure to ask for a transfer, as it is much cheaper than taxis from the airport. We celebrated our daughter's birthday at Thotupola Residence (TR), and what a celebration it was! The dynamic couple and their son who run the show deserve a round of applause👏 . From planning the day to executing it, everything was handled brilliantly well. Mrs. Swaris of 'Sulochana's Kitchen' at TR organised a demonstration station where the kids literally made the batter, baked and iced the birthday cake! A novel experience they all enjoyed. The kids also had a separate station to make sandwiches, much to the delight of the adults. Theirs was a day filled with fun activities. From the soup and garlic bread to the dinner and dessert, everything was warm and comforting. Nehan Photography at TR captured all the wonderful moments. Thank you, TR, once again for a fabulous day! I did not stay, but took the cooking class! Fantastic. Very gifted teacher. Explains spices and steps well. Amazing food. It was my favorite part of my trip in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend.

Very tranquil, silent accomodation with a wonderful view to the river. You can see here, flying foxes, monkeys and a lot of birds. In the morning you can see the local fishermen going to fishing. The rooms are very stylish. The staff is very friendly and they speak very good English. The food is amazing. They prepare freshly for the guests. If you look for a room near Kandy, I recommend this place.

Lovely hosts, very kind, amazing view by the river. Loved chatting and sharing experiences with the hosts. Also very good cook and wonderful breakfast!

Not people friendly. Never seen such people in service industry. They treat as if we stay for free. Not worth for what you pay. Not clean. Cockroaches n lizards everywhere in the room.

Beautiful place to stay. We stayed 2 nights in the tree house and absolutely loved it. The food made by the family is awesome and traditional srilanka food. The place resides on the shore of Mahaveli River and provides beautiful view. Mornings with mist and birds voices and fresh air will give a very refreshing start for the day
