Very nice opera theatre. Although the building is probably newly built, it has a nostalgique ambiance. Also, one of the cheapest seat zones have still a good view of stage.

I'm very disappointed by their service 😑 Me and my friends we bought tickets for a concert but meanwhile the borders were closed. We asked to cancel the tickets or to reschedule them but the Opera responded that they will not do that and they don't care that we can't come. Finally we lost all the money for the tickets, hotel and flight. Such approach was very not elegant imho.

A modern large opera house. Make sure you bring cash as cards are not accepted for drinks and snacks in the pause. Good acoustics in the opera. We were fortunate enough to see the amazing Pretty Yende as Gilda in Rigoletto.

Not at all ckmparable to the great opera houses in Berlin. I was very excited to see Tannhäuser, but it was butchered both visually and musically. How hard is it to just follow stage instructions from the libretto? The booing was deserved.

Very convenient hall. Even from the side seats you can see the whole show. Sound is good, place is elegant. off topic feedback about Hansel and Gretel show: original story from the Grim was rewritten to be more childish and less "dark" so historical connection was lost and has no connection with audience. Play is very childish but opera visitors are 60+. So it's wrong story, wrong audience but play by itself was not so bad. Something needs to be modernized while genre is dying.

Great architecture with comfortable seats and good views even with an affordable ticket. John Neumeier is still the director for the ballet so go for it if you find a ticket.

I was fortunate enough to attend the magnificent Puccini’s “Bohemé” with starting Angel Blue . I can’t stop my tears dropping , so tender and sensual feelings the performance gave to me. I have no doubts that I’ll visit Hamburger State Opera to suffer pain and love again with it’s greatest actors . Thank you so much for making that evening come true .:)

Nice environment, seats are comfortable but you need to sit in the second row in the balcony seats as otherwise you have the bar right in front of your field of vision and have to sit forwards at the end of your seat through the entire performance. And don't arrive 1 minute late or they won't let you in and will have given your seat to someone else!

Terrible view from the 3. Rang Loge 5 and sections in similar positions. I could see just half of the stage. Poor layout! You are supposed to be able to see the whole performance in a theather/opera from any spot, in this one is not the case. By selecting your tickets/seats, they should offer the possibility to see how the view actually is. I wanted to upload a picture from the view on my seat, really is just half of the stage.

The best opera house I have been to, as well as the best opera performance I have ever seen. Came back with a deep impression and a great memory.

Loved seeing Hamburg ballet. The dancing is second to none! What humane artistry. Ver strange that no shop! Was aching to buy a blue ray but nothing on offer. I loved the auditorium and the building too. One star subtracted for horrendous loo break queue experience - there just aren't enough.

Modern building, comfortable seats, friendly and helpful staff. Super punctual, the opera started exactly at 19:00. Performance and scene decorating were GREAT. Super helfen supertitles in English and German. Opera was originally in Russian. One big issue in first row of balcony is the bar which is right in front of audience and disturbs the vision to the scene.

I saw Mozart's Zauberflöte in Feb. 2020 on an rather spontaneous occasion (I got offered the ticket less than an hour before the start of the show) and it was my first time in the Opera at all...so I've got no comparison. The piece was great, funny actors, great music and decent beverages in the break. I can just recommend it! What a nice evening :-)

We made it to our seats in time after a flight delay, but the passageways to the wardrobe and seats are real bottlenecks, everyone must wait, not good in case of fire, nor the stairs. The acoustics are good, but the singers often walk around the orchestra pit on a small walk. Munich has more elegance. The bar has a nice selection and the garderobieres are quick

Great opera house, cheap tickets make it more accessible. Star removed for rude staff interaction while trying to find seats

The building itself is classic 70s the Ballet company is excellent. The choreography has plenty of bums as John loves them.

Really disliked the Nutcracker ballet! It was a disaster, the story was reinterpreted, the new year atmosphere we've expected was ruined! And the site doesn't provide clear information about that, The Nutcracker and it's story is something, which doesn't need any explanation, but turns out to be not so obvious! The hall itself is good, but evening was a dissapointment

Because of Covid-19 it was impossible to travel. They just give you a voucher, no possibility to get your money back. You have to attend a show within 3 seasons. The first passed without performances because of covid, no idea whether we would like to come in the next 2 years to spend even more money. Thank you, all lost.

Really nice opera house , pleasant open design. accoustics? From the stalls, the orchestra seemed a little ' thin' on the strings , whether that was numbers or accoustics cutting out the lower frequencies hard to tell .. made the overall sound a little disappointing. But what really lowered their score was an appalling production of Bellinis Norma .. adequately sung but one of the worst directions and designs I've seen in ages . . meaningless, pretentious..I could go on .. nice opera house , shame about the music..

Very nice and beautiful, both the music and building. Unfortunately I was the only one, asked to check-in my Jacket before I went to my seat. Since it is not the first time I go to Oper, I now this is not mandatory. I am sorry to say but I think it was a bit discriminating, because I do not look like the average people there. I am latin and small, since I go for the performance, music and singing, my clothes were normal and the jacket was not big at all and as I wrote I saw peolpe going in without being asked nothing!
