Was pleasantly surprised with this hostel seeing as it was correctly advertised as a party hostel. Definitely one of the better hostels I’ve stayed at, especially compared against others in Southeast Asia. My partner and I stayed in a private room and the price came to approx. $20/pp/night. We knew dorms were cheaper but we felt it was worth the extra money and it definitely delivered. The air conditioning worked excellently, (too well at some points where we had to turn it off in the middle of the night)! All of our needs were met extremely fast. We accidentally set off the safe alarm when we first got to the room and within 2min of being notified they were in the room with individual safe keys opening it for us. We noticed there was no shower gel in the shower upon arrival and within the hour they had replenished while we were out exploring The hostel is very centrally located in the Old City and has a rooftop bar and definitely attracts a younger crowd that can be rambunctious during their free beer happy hour (7-8pm) until they close at 11pm. But they do a great job of emptying the bar at 11pm sharp and taking everyone on a pub crawl. Minimal noise in the hotel after. My partner needed to sleep with ear plugs but I chose not to and wasn’t awaken by any noise. If you’re okay sleeping with ear plugs and a younger crowd you’ll also find this to be a five-star stay. Pros: Clean, Safe, friendly staff with excellent English, central location, AIR CONDITIONING, laundry service Cons: none that come to mind Edit: FORGOT TO MENTION THE BREAKFAST! Very good and better than most. Noodles, eggs, toast, fruit, coffee, and more!

Central Backpackers Hostel is conveniently located in the heart of Hanoi, and an easy walk to ALL of the main tourist attractions. The stand-out feature of this hostel include it's walkable location to every place worth seeing around the old quarter. Another commendable mention is the resourceful and helpful nature of the staff. They can arrange anything - local transport, tours, flights, visas.... Super impressive. Free beer hour and free breakfast are the added bonuses. MY RATINGS - Location (10/10), Ease of Check-in (10/ 10), Staff helpfulness (10/10), Room Cleanliness (10/10), Washroom Cleanliness (10/10), Security arrangements (9/10), Facilities (9/10), Value for money (10/10), Accuracy with online information (10/10)

Scammed from the taxi service they “recommend”. Girl at the front a said that Grab doesnt exist and I had to go through them for a taxi only. They obviously make money off the drivers and lied to me about it. Beds felt like you’re laying on plastic. Probably better hostels in town to stay.

One of the best hostels of my travels so far, the front desk and bar staff were equally amazing! Loved my stay and almost couldn't stop extending it. They were so friendly making recommendations and helping to book trips. FREE BEER HOUR! And great bar crawl with another local hostel. Fantastic place to meet people. And the breakfast spread is pretty good too!

It is one of the best hostels I stayed in 🫶🏽 The rooms are clean and the mattresses are extremely comfortable. What surprised me the most is the diverse breakfast including egg, toast, fruits, noodles, vegetables (raw and fried),... at the rooftop bar. The service was good. I hope to come back to Hanoi and get to enjoy another stay at this hostel 😌

Breakfast is good, free beer 7-8pm is good. But beer was stopped at 7:45pm, we went at 7:30pm, which really wasn't the big issue here. Highly busy hostel, staff is least bothered because people book it anyway seeing online reviews. Room bathroom sink had water logging issues, extremely small bathrooms, no proper exhaust. AC wasn't working, locker wasn't closing properly, our entire afternoon was wasted running up and down to the reception and room, their reaction wasn't quick. Even when you ask for anything they don't bother. Asking deposit money for every small thing like even towels. Bathroom in the room, you can hear everything. Better to choose other options where they value customers.

Great party hostel, wouldn't recommend to people that are looking for a long quiet stay. Perfect for solo travellers and groups looking for a fun time with great staff. The rooms are decent for the style of hostel and the facilities hold up too. The staff are at the top of their game. Would stay here again!

A pretty good hostel in the heart of Hà Nội. I paid 140.000 VND (~6€ / 9$A) for a dorm room with 6 beds. The bed itself is very comfortable, and the room is clean. A/C feels VERY COLD, so that isn’t the best for me. Free unlimited beer during the happy hour, 19-20, on the roof terrace for guests. This can effectively make your stay free if you use it well 😂 It can get rather noisy at nights, so if you need a solid night’s sleep, this hostel is perhaps not the most ideal. Thankfully I had a room on the lower floors which wasn’t quite so noisy, but you could still hear the party on the rooftop. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful doing all they can to make sure your stay is memorable! Booking tours through the hostel is affordable and reliable. They offer many: Ha Long Bay, Sapa Trekking, Ha Giang Loop are just a few of the highlights. Overall I would definitely stay here again - especially considering the cheap and cheerful accommodation.

We reached the hostel at 8 AM and we asked for early check in but no rooms were available. The checkout time is 11 so we were assuming that we will get our room at 12 atleast but rather we were delayed 30 min on the check in time. We got our room at 2:30 PM. Good thing is they have movie room so we slept there for a while. The location is good as everything is near but people visiting from india please note that just outside the hostel people sell beef and other meat and the smell is disgusting for us. We used to hold our breaths untill we got to main street. So think about this before booking. Breakfast for vegetarian is not that great, you can have bread butter or jam butter there. Overall a good hostel.

Great hostel, the free beer between 7-8pm is a plus and brings everyone together. The free breakfast is great too. Dorm room was not very spacious but still fine. Staff are very helpful! Highly recommended

Great location with excellent staff on the desk. Very helpful booking tours, transfers and with dining recommendations. Free beer for an hour per day doesn't hurt either. Private ensuite was clean and well maintained. Love this place.

A/C busted in our room. Not the cleanest place I've stayed. Helpful staff at the desk. Free breakfast was good. Right in the heart of bustling Old Quarter. Bar plays terrible top 40 but usually quiets down around 11. For the price pretty spot on.

Overall had a good experience here, you can tell the front desk people genuinely care for you and want to get to know you! Made it feel really home-y. One thing to note is my experience with the rooms weren’t super cleanly, but still reasonable for a couple nights of stay. Breakfast is awesome in the morning, the rooftop party is a good time too! Zoe is the best! This place was 5x better cuz of her!

1/5 stars for disgusting smelling shower that left our hair with a stench of sewage. Once shower was fixed, there was no hot water for 24 hours. Booked Ha long bay tour through hostel - would recommend doing your own research and booking yourself as we found the tour a scam and let down. Booked ha giang loop through them - it was okay but overbooked. Breakfast was good. Good social hostel.

We stayed here twice during our stay in Hanoi and were really pleased. The breakfast was great and refilled until closing. There was also free drinking water through the day (but closed at night and early morning…) The beds had curtains as well which was nice. During our second time my beds outlet was hanging and I got a major electrical shock by it which doesn’t feel safe at all. So please fix that in room 502. Another thing to note is that towels aren’t included. But overall we were pleased with our stay

We booked a private room and they put us on the seventh floor, right next to the kitchen. The window didn’t open completely and anyway only let in a strong smell coming from the kitchen. Even without opening the window there was a strong scent in the room. Water was not running at all when we arrived (couldn’t flush) and in the morning there was no hot water for a shower either. As if it were not enough, we got woken up at 8 AM by the noises coming from the kitchen. If you book a private here, make sure it’s not on the seventh floor.

Thank you guys. I stayed there for about 7-8 nights on three different occasions and they were always helpful and nice. I am very thankful to the staff, all of them. I don't like partying yet I did manage to rest well. Only one thing, tours offered are more expensive than those offered by some other agencies.

I stayed here during a trip to Vietnam. The hostel is very social and has free breakfast which is good. They have loads of good tours including the ha giang trip and also trekking in sapa which you can book with them. These were really well organised. The rooms were clean and nice. The staff were also brilliant, especially Huy who helped me when my phone was broken. He was really helpful and is a credit to the hostel. I would definitely recommend this hostel to others.

The hostel is very central, in the market neighborhood, so you need to be OK with food around, smells and noise, nevertheless is great to enjoy the city by foot in a few days stay. Dorms rooms are without windows (at least the 2 we did try) and not super clean. The main problem for us was the noise of the AC system outside and also the loud people overnight. Breakfast it's kind of ok but nothing special, social spaces are very very limited, small and not enjoyable because of the amount of people and the smell

We stayed here two nights in a private room and I would definitely recommend it to my friends, it’s very social and we made lots of friends. The free breakfast, free beers, and free walking tour of the city is amazing. The rooms were small and no windows but we didn’t mind at all. Everything is clean and they have very nice staff members who are happy to help, would definitely come back. (maybe more social than a family stay)

Great Place to stay. Alex runs a really nice pubcrawl wich starts with free beer and drinking games. After that you go out to diffrent bars and clubs to have a great night out. The hostel has nice and clean rooms and amzing stuff. I felt really welcomed during my whole stay. Thumbs up.

We booked the Ha giang loop and the Ha Long Bay cruise with the hostel and both of them were amazing, staff were super helpful and the rooms were good, location was perfect as well. The company they use for the loop we’re great would really recommend doing it here, the group wasn’t too big, the drivers were great and the hostels we stayed at along the way were really nice!

The staff amazing help guests and always answer questions from the guest, sorry i had so many questions 😅 they also offering tours, the tour amazing and not expensive. The room bed bathroom toilet also clean. They had free city tour and bar crawl, i love bar crawl btw 😅.. The breakfast is buffet i cant imagine the price cheaper and the breakfast amazing. If you want looking food or convinience store also close by. Everything amazing here.. love it! Very recommended stay here! Specially thank you for Nam 👋🏾🙏🏽

Absolutely amazing hostel, rooms were clean, the staff were extremely friendly and within walking distance of everything you need. Also a really fun bar crawl every night to meet people. Staff went above and beyond for me and my friend who got injured in the ha giang loop, cannot recommend enough!

More on the party hostel side -- loud in the rooms til 11pm so bring earplugs. No windows so the rooms get smelly. I didn't have a working shower the first day. They lost my $20 USD deposit and had to give it back in local which sucks because I'm leaving the country. Pros: Privacy curtains, electronic lockers, nice staff, free breakfast buffet, free hour of beer.

  • 5/5 Aoife R. 1 year ago on Google
Really nice hostel for the price. We got a private room with our own bathroom and it was exactly like staying in a hotel. Free breakfast is also really nice and the happy hour on the rooftop was also good fun. The hostel organised our trip to Ha Giang loop and we didn’t need to worry about anything, it was all taken care of. Hostel is also in a great location for exploring Hanoi.

5 stars for yêń! She was a total legend. Hostel was rammed full of really young British people on their gap year darling, so stay away if you’re not down to see lots of boys that look exactly the same and think paying £5 a night means they can treat the place with zero respect. Wish it had a different clientele but beggars can’t be choosers! Staff were amazing, so friendly and if you treat them like people they treat you with a lot of kindness! Location is intense but that’s the old quarter baby, lots of food and drink and unfortunately LOTS of intense backpackers but to be expected, shoulda read more reviews before booking. During the day the bar was a beautiful quiet location away from the busy area and the heat where we could get some work done. Would stay again but wouldn’t ever dream of staying in one of the larger dorms x

  • 2/5 Avais J. 10 months ago on Google
One particular member of staff who worked there was rude, the rest seemed chill. The location is fantastic. Quite a social hostel which was nice and the walking tour in the morning was amazing. The main reason for the poor review was due to the dorms. Room that I stayed in had no windows, there was an ensuite with a "window" but it was not to outside, it led to a chimney and therefore poor ventilation, so they smelled unpleasant. I believe this is illegal in the UK. The sockets did not work properly either.

This is a five star review for a private room, but first let me make sure this hostel is for you: this is a social, party if you want, hostel. You pay more for that aspect, but may find value in it. If you have stayed in similar hostels, book this place and I highly recommend it. If it’s your first, read on. Room: amazing AC, amazing beds and bedding, functional safe, ok shower, decent toiletries. You will hear noise through the walls. Bring ear plugs. Still slept well. Overall the reason I loved it here. Worth noting the AC gets turned off 11a-2p in the dorms. Private room has full control of theirs. Common areas: great bar with AC that serves food and coffee at normal hostel prices. Nice terrace which is a calmer refuge from the screaming of the bar if you seek it out. Younger me would have loved the drinking games inside. Best hostel breakfast I’ve ever had (see photos). Vegetarian options. Good coffee. You may be on a high floor and find the elevator slow. Such is life, you are choosing a big hostel. Guests and guest management: young crowd of solo, group, and couple travellers. Wonderful mix of people. Friendly manager fast to respond to problems. No one pushes tours on you, but they are there (did not use so no rating on this). If you are an introvert you may find it a lot here, but may want try this for a night or two. Area: you are in the chaotic charming old city. The Circle K nearby is tiny and not the best. I will stay outside of this busy part of town next time (also cheaper). Massages and food seemed to be hit or miss in this touristy area. Go to A One Bahn Mi on the corner. This was my one regret— next time we are staying in a hotel on the border of the old city for less money and easier walking. But it won’t be social! Accessibility: must walk short distance with your bags as cars cannot access this street. Step in the front with no ramp. Elevator not to be depended on but useful particularly during the day with bags. LGBT+ Friendliness: no complaints, but would welcome a flag to signal this. Suggestion to give out stickers at the bar to help find community. Value: better deals out there for similar or better accommodation but this is not just a room, also an experience. Not reviewed: tours, dorms, laundry, pub crawl, walking tour, how management deals with breaks or unruly guests. Would stay again: yes, but mostly if solo or spending more time in the bar.

Stayed in both a private and a dorm. Rooms themselves were fairly clean. Very social hostel with ok included breakfast and a free beer from 7-8. Wifi was spotty in some areas of the building. They required passports to be left, which we assumed were kept somewhere secure so we agreed. When leaving, they could not find our passports until after 10 minutes of frantic flipping through drawers and countless stacks of passports behind the desk - a very stress inducing process. In general, front desk was a bit rude and on the pricier end for what the hostel was. Side note: their Halong Hideaway tour was very fun and I recommend

Great hostel for meeting people, mediocre hostel if you actually want to sleep. While not being fully party oriented, the Central Backpackers offers free beer daily from 7-8pm which gets everyone to socialize and mingle on the rooftop of the building. Afterwards there's always a decent group of people heading out towards bars or clubs. The rooms itself are acceptable but not great. The beds don't come with curtains, my 8 bed dorm room was quite packed and not very spacious. Beds are squeaky and the doors and door locks are quite noisy so keep that in mind when choosing your hostel here in Hanoi. Staff is friendly and will help you out in whatever issues you should run into.

This is a fantastic hostel, the staff are uniquely helpful. The hostel is extremely well located and the free walking tour, which was really good, gives you a good grasp of the location. We didn't go on the free pub crawl but heard great things about it, and the free beer was good!

  • 3/5 Jonathan A. 5 years ago on Google
Mixed feelings about this hostel. GOOD Reception staff were friendly and helpful. It's in a great location. There's not really a common room. There is a movie room but it has no movies and seems a bit dirty and smelly. For a party hostel there's not much of a party vibe. There is a bar on Floor 8 however that gives free beer from 7pm to 8pm. The pub crawl was one of the worst I've ever been on - we only went to two bars (that no-one liked). We stayed in the first one for an hour and a half and at the second one our guide disappeared. Breakfast is free but terrible - they even mess up toast every day (soft on one side and burnt on the other). I also asked several times for a glass so I could pour some water into it with some vitamin powder and they refused (a woman with glasses at the Floor 8 bar kept insisting I take a non-recyclable plastic cup and lied and said it was biodegradeable). A lot of the hostel needs renovating - things like power sockets don't work. For some bizarre reason every time you go into your room with a keycard it plays an annoying little melody. Every card does this waking everyone up if someone comes in late. There needs to be more communal toilets and showers if the one in the room is busy - there is only one extra toilet on the top floor. Beds are comfortable enough but there is little space in the rooms. The hostel needs to get with modern times and maybe install curtains for privacy or give people a bit more space. There is constant noise - people actually working in the day or just the noises in the corridor (the walls are very thin).

This place really recommended for backpakers..... I stayed in dom with 8 beds and it was really comfy. you will get locker for your room. And for 1 room only have 1 shower. You will get free drink, towel and wifi. The staff it's really kind, they can speak English. And they also help us to get taxi to airport

Great place, staff is awesome!!!! I spent 10 days there, it was a great place!!! The staff was AWESOME!!! For 5$ a night you can't go wrong at all!! Air Conditioned rooms, free breakfast, they have knowledgeable staff and offer many tours around the Northern area of Viet Nam. VERY NICE PLACE!!!! I am sorry I did just edit this. I was there in March of 2015. hehe I can't say enough about this place!! :)

Great! I was really satisfied. Price 5$ includes breakfast (fried/scrambled eggs with bread + fruit or bread with jam + fruit). Room is clear, airconditioned, hot water. Only the bathroon was little bit mould. Servis desk very helpful.

Awesome hostel! The rooms are clean, the beds very comfy and the AC works great. Very social place with an hour of free beer (yes, you read that right. Unlimited free beer!) every night. Staff is also super helpful, they helped me with many things over the years. Tuan is a super chill dude and the best receptionist ever! Wasn't my first time here and certainly wont be the last. Thanks guys!

Definitely one of the most happening hostels in Hanoi. The facilities are clean, the crowd is amazing, the staff seemed on their toes to help the barrage of travelers, the bar on the terrace is a great place to meet new people, hangout or as a bouncing pad for bar-hopping session. They even let you stow the luggage for a few days for free. The only gripe however, was with the location, which is on a busy, narrow and a bit shady street. Also, while looking for travel bookings, the outside booking agents offered much better prices for bus and day trip bookings.

I stayed here three times over the course of a few weeks and each time the rooms were very different and something was broken. The best rooms are the 4 bed dorms as the shower and beds are newer. The 6 bed dorm we were in the first time didn’t have working aircon and the door had a big hole in Good social area at the roof top bar and each night they do different happy hours. Central is a very good hostel to book tours from, they offer every type of tour and is always full of backpackers

At heart of French Quarter (Old Quarter) of Hanoi, the hostel offers awesome view from bar on top floor. The rooms are neat and clean. You can meet a lot of fellow travellers from different nations here. It's a happening place and there are different types of drink parties everyday at evening so you can chill out and make connections!

People screaming and having a party all night in the sleeping areas while there was a rooftop bar. Airconditioning did not work properly (had to turn off and on every 60min and was leaking). The walking tour the next day had a guide that did not speak English. Canceled our next night and stayed elsewhere. Check-in and beer are good. Only stay here if you want to party and skip a few nights of sleep.

Wonderful place to stay! Really well located, walking distance from Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter. Hostel staff is super friendly and helpful, themed parties, free beer and a pub crawl every night - the best place to make friends!

You get a comfy hostel bed for the price! There is free beer and free breakfast every day :). Staff is friendly and helps you also with their local knowledge if needed. Downside was that the rooms do not have windows. Feels like sleeping in a bunker. It is definitely more on the party hostel side and a social place.

  • 4/5 Jordi M. 1 year ago on Google
Fun hostel! Great and friendly staff. Facilities weren't perfect, but they were serviceable. Rooms were a bit hot and the bathrooms a bit messy, because of the lack of a shower curtain. The rooftop bar is great. The Ha Long Bay cruise trip is one of the most fun things I've ever done!

  • 4/5 Annie M. 1 year ago on Google
6 bed dorm was spacious and very clean. Privacy curtain and individual light and plug. Breakfast was soo tasty and had so much for vegetarians. Staff are friendly and helpful. We booked our Ha Long Bay trip through them and although we weren’t staying there then they still let us go up for free breakfast!

Staff at Central are amazing and welcoming. The bar staff are friendly and really try to make your night memorable, especially Rory, Mui and Mango. Snow on the front desk is amazing and will help with anything you need. She can also give you the best advice for booking the tours. Miss Hueng's walking tour is a must, you can tell she has real passion and loves Hanoi and the history! Thanks

Light in room is not in the middle of celling but directly at your bed so if you want to sleep you have to turn off light for entire room. Toilet is inside of room and you can hear everything also there is not much ventilation. Every night there is party at roof top until 23 so if you want to enjoy the night view in peace it's impossible. Only for young people that want to drink free beer and party.

Banging location in Hanoi. You can walk to pretty much everything. Clean bedrooms and comfy beds. Staff were really fun, and the rooftop bar was packed every night. Only annoying thing was that the plug sockets by the beds were dodgy. All of our adapters wouldn’t fit. Also staff members came into the room a lot without knocking. But honestly would stay again, really good hostel!!

  • 4/5 Connor O. 5 years ago on Google
The hostel was great providing all you need with comfy beds and big secure locker and a nice bathroom for £5 a night. I believe there are only 8 bedded dorms here and no variation. However the room has some sort of sticky liquid under the sink that smelled quite bad. Breakfast is included which was okay but there is no food options for the rest of the day. This is okay as there are many restaurants in the surrounding area. The staff were very useful and the hostel offered cheap and good tours to all the surrounding locations.

  • 5/5 Elias G. 1 year ago on Google
The people who works in the hostel is super kind, the mood is awesome, free beer and lot of fun activities. They offer laundry service, a common space to leave your luggage and take a shower if you need to. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. Super recommended, I had an incredible time.

Hostel was pretty decent. The toilet was not a shabby. The rooms were pretty small. The location was a bit bad, it's in the market lane which makes it convenient but has dirty surroundings.

Very central, rooms are clean. We stayed in a mixed 4 bed and it was fine. The lockers are a bit annoying as the alarms went off regularly. Breakfast is not great but it's free so can't complain
