It is a beautiful castle which is located on a hill so you can see almost everywhere in that area including kemnade lake. When you get there do not forget to climb up the castle and see the top of that. To do so, you have to use the stairs right on the left side of the entrance of the Cafe. The view is marvelous! I totally recommend it to everyone

Nice views, great area for eating outside

Visit the tower in Autumn (or Herbst) The foliage colours make the view look like a painting.! They have a restaurant inside the castle, try some delicious waffles here. Service is fast and price is nominal. The decor is very in tune with the castle. I've been here multiple times and sometimes I would like to think we're they eating waffles when this castle was newly built in the year 1243CE.!

Amazing view, nice feeling, I recommend visiting this on your weekend. Big parking lot nearby and with easy access to the fortress. Must see!

Great place! Amazing viewpoints from the castle.

Visited it on Monday around 2pm, and the place is likealmost to ourselves. The castle itself is beautiful and there is a restaurant in the compound.

We love Burg Blankenstein and the atmosphere there is just fantastic. First time we visited also the restaurant and it didn't disappoint either. Really lovely service, friendly and full of smiles! Food was yummy too and very fair prices. Unfortunately only high tables were available, which are super uncomfortable for us so we didn't stay for dessert and left earlier than planned. Hopefully next time we will have more luck with normal table. Definitely worth s visit!

They have small cafeteria just in the entrance, serving hot drinks and variant of in-house waffles. Very soft almost like a pancake waffles are resh and enjoyable. Extra "thumbs up" for calming nice playlist.

Beautiful place one should visit while being in Germany. Unfortunately, this though open, no servings were there. There was a wedding party in the place

The castle gives a nice view on the surroundings. A small tunnel goes from bottom to top, with really small steps, it's really great to walk to the top. I guess the only issue would be that pigeons used to live inside in the past so you can imagine the smell is terrible.

Played music here for a Wedding party. It was too much misunderstnading between the management and the wedding hosts. The party was not so organised.

Very pretty, there is a restaurant to eat also, and watch your steps its very slippery. Lot of stairs though... Some people dont like the gym... Just sayin... 😂

Beautiful castle woth a spectacular view!

Very nice place for a family visit. Plus they can organize every kind of celebration because there is a place for it.

Tldr; really great small fortress that's worth a visit. First of all, the entry is free of charge and is easily accessible even with reduced mobility thanks to the small stone bridge. Also, getting to fortress is pretty trivial from the two or the bus station. If you stop at the closest bus station geographically, be ready to go down a small hill and up some stairs. Better stop at the station closer to Hattingen and just walk through the small town to the church, then to the fortress. Inside the fortress it's possible to climb up the main tower by the gate. It may need some effort, but at the end you get a great 360° view over the surroundings. In case you want to take a bite, there is a restaurant inside, but also a food truck. Enjoy your visit!
