I can recommend this beautiful castle and it's gardens. Beautiful, well kept, grounds and a characteristic moat. A cafe and restaurant is also located here. A teahouse is located at the back, through the woods. Very relaxing to lounge in the sun in the garden chairs and listen to the forest sounds.

Calm, quite and mostly empty on Sunday. Coffee was little bit expensive and not so good yet people were super friendly. They had fresh Waffel but i was full already so i did not try but it‘s Waffel, cannot be bad, right?

Really nice self-guided visit (English audio guide available). Interesting info about the history of the castle and the family who lived there. Beautiful surroundings.

Beautiful place and friendly staff! Sadly, like almost everything in Germany, the buildings went through renovations (which is nice) and it's patterns everywhere. Like the same white windows seen in the whole land...

It's a nice bike ride. 8kms from the city, very nice route. Also, you can go for a nice walk in the woods out there. You cannot bike inside the premises but you can take your bike along.

Real pretty water castle where the writer Droste Hülshoff grew up. It has a cute trail around it and the gardens are very pretty and it's not crowded. They also have a cafe and museum.

Wonderful experience. I visited on a cloudy day, and it was still beautiful. You can go around its gardens for free and visit the museum inside the main building (which I let for another day). The gardens are well cared for, and the paths are easy even in a rainy/wet setting. The gardens and the exterior of the palace are relatively accessible, but there are stairs to enter the museum and the restaurant. I haven't seen an accessible entrance for either, so it might be useful to call in advance and ask about it.

A very beautiful place, clean and tidy, full of history, with a beautiful story, but which lacks a lot. As in most cases, in Germany you cannot pay by card. There is no indication, presentation in English. There is no guide or dedicated person to guide you in any direction. The indoor halls close without you knowing, because of some events that no one knows about.

I went here with my friend on hangover day to relax. It’s so peaceful to walk through the gardens by the water or through the Forrest. We had some lush food in the restaurant and the best fresh waffle ever before the head chef personally advised us to check out the museum. We were a bit late but they still let us in and were super sweet. We were able to chose the language of the audio guide and we were glad you could go at your own pace and chose what to listen to. The staff were all super friendly. I recommend spending an afternoon here away from the hectic daily routines for some much needed grounding 6 stars

A popular venue for conventions, wedding etc, this will be a place you'll remember for a long time. Set in a picturesque landscaped park, the castle and its surroundings are a historic and spectacular setting for all kinds of festivities. Once the home of the Hülshoff dynasty, renowned German poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff herself lived here for some years. The castle houses a museum and library and acts as a conference centre as well.

I did not enter the castle, but the gardens surrounding it are lovely and free. Really recommend reaching it by bike from Münster.

Beautiful garden and castle but is a lot of challenge to go if you rely on public transport. Our experience was very tiring as when we were on our way, the bus was late for 15 minutes and there were two bus stops with the name of the castle so we stopped in the the first one only to learn that it’s still a kilometer walk to the castle. Going back we made sure to be in the bus stop on the scheduled time. After we waited for 20 minutes, no bus came so we decided to walk only to see the bus pass by after 30 minutes! The museum within the castle needs to improve in its content. There were no captions in the old furnitures/ paintings, etc. They only give you an audio which was all in German 😫.

Was astounded to be able to enter these gardens free. It’s a beautiful moated palace. The museum was small but a mere €5 entrance. Very worthwhile visit.
