Good sushi, pleasant staff and nice location. The place was pricey for what you get and the portion sizes are smaller than other sushi locations. Overall good.

Great food and service. Hosted a party of 13 people. Nicki, our waitress was fabulous. She took charge and brought many wonderful appetizers to share. Each one was better than the next. Everybody was raving about the food. Heard multiple time that individuals were planning to return with their spouse's.

I had never been here before but was glad I stopped in today! The whole staff was so friendly and helpful, and our server took such great care of us. The food was excellent. Amazing taste, presentation, and was worth the price. I recommend getting the calamari as it was so delicious! I also love how a manager(I'm assuming) was watching, making sure things went smoothly, without seeming to be overbearing to the rest of the staff. We will definitely be back

Unfortunately for our first time ordering from Here after all the good reviews, it did not go well. The food lacked flavor and salt. We ordered take out, several dishes, asked for medium spicy, was guided by the staff to just order the dishes “regular” and use the hot oil as needed, but then the hot oil was not provided in our order.

It is true that you get what you pay for. While it is typically that some people mention about the price, I would say their customer service is absolutely phenomenal, from the security gentleman who noticed within 2 seconds that we want to leave, to the gentleman that keeps the door open. Well, one of the waitress could have done better, but it was a busy night. I have been here before and after pandemic. Always happy. *they don't have coverage charge for music night (Wednesday) so I recommend to generously spend on food/drink/tip*

If you’re looking for a classy Asian cuisine experience. This is the place. Fantastic sushi plates and grade A traditional Chinese food. Prices are a bit high so expect to have a high bill. Fantastic spot for a romantic date and the outdoor patio is great, especially on their Shanghai Wednesday’s event they have. The Singapore noodles are fantastic and the sesame chicken is perfect.

By far the best Asian restaurant in the Metro Detroit area! Asian Fusion by Marshall Chin. Mon Jin Lau= Chinese for My Family House. The staff is friendly as family! The most inventive Asian Cuisine anywhere! I have been coming here since the mid 1980’s. Flavors here are bountiful! One visit and you will reveal the magic!💎

When everywhere seemed to have 1hr+ wait, we lucked out and got in here without a wait. And this was probably better than where we'd planned. The staff was absolutely wonderful keeping everything moving smooth on a busy night. And the food itself was incredibly well prepared! Seriously so perfect, especially on the poultry which is so difficult to get this perfect. Even the tofu was exceptional. We got drinks as well which were good and the combinations for fusion were wonderfully inventive. I will be coming back.

This place was amazing! Tasty loaded spring rolls and a very savory and multi layer flavored stuffed eggplant appetizer.. Udon dish had lots of fresh veggies. The atmosphere is very classy, low lit seating and atttactive paintings decorate the restaurant. Looking forward to trying more dishes here

I have not been here in years. A birthday celebration brought a small group of us here for the same delicious food they've always served. We spent so much time talking and laughing that I don't think any of us bothered too take pictures of our food. Staffing service friendly courteous and efficient.

Great ambience, and the sushi is good but sort of ends there. Dine-in is a shade better than carry out . Vegetarian is not truly vegetarian, …….found cartilage in one of my”vegetarian” orders . Shrimp is farm raised pretty much like the average restaurant around. Sauces are generic and taste factory made. Carry out staff have no idea how to guide you with an order on the phone . I specifically said I DO NOT want my side dish to be sweet but it was exactly that. When I called to tell them about it, I was told that”since carry out staff have never tasted the dishes themselves , they would not be able to give proper information and that”we gave you what you ordered “.

Absolutely LOVED this restaurant. They were slam packed but still managed to provide us with quick and attentive service. They have an extensive menu with all types of Asian cuisine, but we only ordered sushi and it was fresh and delicious. Definitely will be returning!!

Wife and I went there on first date 30 years ago and always enjoyed the service, ambience and food. We went there for 27th Anniversary and had such poor service, read none, that we left after twenty minutes without having a waiter ever visiting our table. Note there were only two other tables occupied in our area. Ordering food or drinks never happened. We asked for a manager on our way out and even that was so slow that we left before speaking with anyone. Very disappointed.

Very busy on a Wednesday night, hard to find parking. We sat at the bar which was a nice vibe. Food was made with high quality ingredients, not “traditional” Chinese food, maybe more Americanized Chinese food, but really good versions of classic dishes. A bit pricey but after seeing the quality ingredients, seems worthwhile.

This is a great date night place. Awesome decor and atmosphere. I love the juxtaposition of the dark, traditional dining area and the bright garden room with large French-style windows. Both rooms are connected by a sleek, modern cocktail bar that looks utterly enticing. I am no expert of Asian cuisine, but from my experiences here so far, the fare matches the ambience perfectly. Excellent sushi and vegetable fried rice. And last but not least, the staff is always very friendly and accommodating.

Mon Jin Lau in Troy is by far the best Asian cuisine I've had in Michigan. If I know I'm going there for dinner in a couple days, I can't stop thinking about what I'm going to get and how excited I am to get there. From the sushi, to the entrees and appetizers, everything is so good. The hardest part is trying to decide what to get because there are so many items that I have loved for many years. The ownership knows what they are doing and you're always greeted with a smile and a friendly face. Most of their staff has been there for decades, so you always know you're getting the same great service and food that you had the last time you were there. Highly recommend!

Well this place is highly recommended, cozy, great decor and great service.?I started with the three pepper shrimp and scallop followed by the pepper steak. I discovered half way through my appetiser that there is also a sushi menu too. I wasn’t given one. In fact these photocopies of photocopy menus are very cheap looking, and there aren’t enough to go around. Ideally the hostess would seat guests and give them both menus. The steak was perfect but it doesn’t come with rice and no one thought to suggest I order rice. Otherwise a great experience, highly recommended.

I had only had their prepared sushi from Ninos so a buddy and I stopped in while riding by for a quick pop at the bar. We didn't have anything from the kitchen this time as it was shift change and busy so we figured to let them be since we had just ate too. The atmosphere is 10/10. Friendly staff, beautiful decor and well mannered guests that all seemed very pleased to be there. Bar selection is on point. I will be back!

Went there for the first time with my husband on a Saturday night without reservation, but got a table without any wait time even though the place was crowded.. food was good, we ordered sushi and Singapore noodles.. loved it, will definitely be coming back to try more

Six of us went to dinner on Christmas Eve. The restaurant was busy but we had a reservation & were seated immediately. The food was delicious. The chicken I ordered was the most tender chicken I've ever eaten. The service was great. The manager was friendly & attentive. The house music was so interesting. I'd give it 10 stars if possible. The bill was so inexpensive! What a great Christmas Eve meal!

Sunday, December 10, 2023 Grace was a wonderful server, but the food was awful. The appetizer Goyza, had a hard shell in it. I almost cracked my tooth. Our grandson could not eat his pork dinner. The pork was hard to cut and full of fat, the side of rice was very dry. I had Vegetarian Pad Thai, and some pieces of Tofu were hard as rocks and others hardly cooked. The Pad Thai had mostly peppers in it with little scallions and peanuts. My husbands meal had no flavor and the pork was raw. Just awful. We ordered a piece of Chocolate Cake for our granddaughter and the cake was hard and dry. The cost was $200.00 and simply not worth it. We ended up stopping at Taco Bell after for our grandson whose meal was not good at all.

For the same quality meal elsewhere you can expect to pay 40% more. So even though the meal is pricey the value is definitely there. Very happy with their social distancing practices and everyone on staff was properly wearing masks.

High quality fresh ingredients in all dishes which were DELICIOUS. Was able to pay ahead and they were happy to load picked up food into my trunk Will be returning this weekend.

I'll start with the positive: you can't get fresher ingredients, especially the chicken. The lows: way too expensive for what you get. I'd say double if not more than it should've cost for szechuan chicken. I asked for spicy, it was zero, I asked for brown rice and got white and brown. I'm wondering now if maybe they charged me for both but $19+ for a dish and no egg roll, no chopsticks, no fortune cookie, no soup??? And the way they do their vegetables for that dish was like veggie noodles, too long and stringy. I'd never be this picky on high quality Chinese dish ingredients but for that price, I had no choice.

My favorite restaurant in the metro Detroit area, hands down. The sushi is so fresh and delicious - the Salmon on the Beach roll is a must have for me every time I go.

I went with my sister and her hubby which was a plus because not only are they fun people, but we each got to sample each other's appetizers and entrées and all the food was fantastic. Perfect balance of flavors in each bite. The cherry on top was our waitress. Her personality made the dining experience fun.

They took extra caution due to the virus going around. They bleached all menus. Food was amazing quality. Our server was Michelle. She was super efficient. Food was fresh and popped with flavor!! Would visit again

Fast and friendly service. Server Nikki was on top of everything and we had a group of 20+ people. Food was really good. After 11pm it turns into a club vibe.

My review is limited to the Sushi. Went here for a get together with family, we all of us ordered three to four rolls of sushi per couple. The server was very friendly, made sure we always had drinks and clean plates. The sushi was fantastic, with some very unique and delicious options. The prices were a bit higher than other sushi places, but that didn't bother me as much because the quality justified the price. They have menu slips which have QR codes on them, so using your smart phone, you can bring up all their menus easily so you can order without touching a menu. Overall a beautiful restaurant, with exceptional sushi.

We met with friends at this spot for lunch. This place was recommended to us by a friend. Well, we were not disappointed. The crew welcomed us with a smile and we felt very good. The food was just great. We enjoyed every moment and we shall definitely come back again. Recommended.

This review is long overdue! We have been coming here the past 4 years or so every time we are in the Detroit area for hockey. Their food is beyond delicious and so fresh! They always accommodate my picky eater and make a simply gorgeous piece of salmon and fresh broccoli. I so appreciate they do that! Everything else on their menu is out of this world. And their service is the best; friendly, professional, courteous and fast, but you never feel rushed. Glad to see they were back open, we only ordered to go this time around, but they are back open with limited hours. Hockey families, this is a must go to! It’s now a tradition for our team and family.

Mon Jin Lau is so versatile, you can come here for a romantic dinner for two, or you can celebrate your birthday with all of your friends, you can even have a professional office dinner there. They will accommodate for any event! And the food is ALWAYS amazing! I have been here SO many times and the food Is always delicious! Hadn't been in a min...happened to be in the area so stopped and ordered the Mon Jin Lau rice it was terrible..the rice was so soggy I couldn't tell if it was rice or mashed potatoes. I was so disappointed.

Amazing experience! Everything was great, from the sushi, to the customer service. The waiter was very kind and honest. We were sat outdoor (due to covid) but it was so nice out because they had those heated lamps. The ambiance was just splendid. Definitely coming back in the near future!
