Many restaurants and shops to visit. Absolutely beautiful streets, architecture, river views...wonderful people! We need to come back and spend more time here for sure. Amazing! Church in the middle of town was spectacular.

lively Altstadt is historic heart of city of Heidelberger. Cobblestone streets, century old buildings and bustling market squares overlooked by hilltop Heidelberg castle and gardens. Main shopping street hauptstrasse has book stores, casual cafe and traditional restaurants. One hour 10 minutes drive from Frankfurt city. A must see city if you are in Frankfurt.

Charming market square to stroll through and admire historic buildings. Visited during a short trip to Heidelberg in mid-February 2023.

Although the day (2022/10/31) we visit was not weekend or national holiday, there were still quite a bunch of people walking on the streets. Went out of the parking space from underground you can directly recognize the pathway to the market square. All kinds of shops, restaurants or souvenir stalls along the road and walking here will immediately lead you to a feeling of leisurely vacation. During our walk tour, I can occasionally saw performances by street artists. This is definitely one of the recommended sightseeing when you have plan traveling in Deutschland.

Heidelberger Altstadt. The main plaza of the old town of Heidelberg. The cobblestone road and old European buildings and church are something that Singapore does not really get to see often. The German town is also home to one of the world’s oldest surviving university, Heidelberg University founded in 1386!

Small square as a center of the town. Lined with cafes and restaurants and a grand church as a centerpoint. Very close to Alte Brucke and Funicular to Heidelberg Castle.

Older part of town seems much more interesting with its unique architecture. One day is sufficient to explore around. Plenty of resturants, bars n cafeterias to keep yourself hydrated n fed.

We came for the Christmas Market. Enjoyed walking around and that there were several unique vendors that had something besides the commercialized items. It was also nice that the booths/vendors are spread around to allow you more opportunities to walk around and see the city.

Lots of seating and many shops to browse! There are a couple of Gelato stores, geode rocks and fossil store, restaurants and a Lindt where you can sip away the chill with some hot chocolate!

This place is amazing, the old classic looking buildings are giving the whole town a really special atmosphere. And we could find a place next to the temple with 10 euro pizzas, so i wa super satisfied.

A beautiful vibrant city center surrounded by historical buildings, cobblestone streets and numerous cafes and stores. It’s amazing to see that the hundreds years old houses are still remain their original charm. Major attractions at the marktplatz include the Church of Holy Spirit and Hotel Ritter. The plaza is lively day and night.

Took a walk through the old party of town while visiting family. Amazing architecture and Quant surroundings. There is so much more to see than just the castle.

Heidelberg... A fairytale city straight out of a children's book...or the backdrop to a slow, charming, romantic tale of people in love.. The Marktplatz has at one end the Heidelberg castle, a sight to behold day or night and then the beautiful architecture all along the pedestrian zone. Walk down to the Neckar and you can have a lovely stroll along the river and a treat for those who want to take pictures around sundown.... Great place and city for a weekend getaway.

Good selection of bars and restaurants around the square - a good place to sit and relax.

Apparently more archaeological excavations are underway! Very interesting, but it disrupts the flow of traffic somewhat. Just meters away the pattern of the walls buried below is outlined in the cobblestones.
