Pros: clean, secure, relaxing, you have shades and chairs to sit on, lovely view, life guards, bathroom (toiletries provided) and shower area, food shack (only one so order food early or bring your own), large parking space. Cons: $1000JMD sadly paid entry, not a lot of shades if beach becomes too full, one food shack so long waiting time (can walk on the beach to next door to get food), lawn chairs limited.

( FOR MORE INFORMATION VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL "JAMAICA WALK BY") Im never one to complain about going to a paid beach as I know it takes money to maintain the bathroom facilities and grounds. Lifeguards were on duty which was a plus. This beach however (in my opinion) isn't worth the $1000 JMD entry fee. More can be done regarding the sanitation and aesthetics of the beach. The restaurant is embarrassingly slow and disorganised. Made my order at 2:15 pm, and was told it would have been ready within an hour. I didn't get my food until almost 5pm. The restaurant staff were not the least bit apologetic πŸ˜’, in fact they were extremely rude and argued with guests. It was horrible. All in all, its not worth the hassle, just go next door to Waves Beach. My spouse did a full tour of the property ( FOR MORE INFORMATION VISIT OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL "JAMAICA WALK BY")

Wonderful and relaxing place. The beach and park is clean, staff is very friendly. There's a charge to get in that covers beach chairs as well. Food is good but overpriced, as well as beverages.

Clean, has life guards. I believe the entry fee is too much. Paying to enter is ok, especially since it's well kept but, $1000 is steep. Cost of fish is also very pricey.

First thing first, I was a little bit disturbed when I called the listed number to get details on the items that were allowed. The young lady on the other end was clearly annoyed, and it came out from the way she answered the phone and how she responded to the questions I asked, abrupt and sharp, and ill mannered. Two security officers at the entrance, one was a little bit rude. I'm not really impressed with the setup. i see no difference with the old and the new other than the cashier at the front. After the long closure and the much anticipated upgrades, I expected more. Fresh water wash off is way too far from the changing rooms, especially when there is no running water in the changing rooms. The food wasn't good. There were only two choices for fish. Escoveitch and steam (only red snapper) and to make matters worse, they only sell 3lb fish, which reduces options for a small group. For example, 3lbs is too much for a 4yr who wants fry fish, and it's the same for a 11 yr old who wants steam, they can't can't share that 6lbs because their choices are different. Yes, there are beach chairs, but I have my own chairs, so personally, that's not a plus for me. I much prefer the old setup that provides different choices or different restaurants for food. There are some good points, the beach is clean and cleaner than when the previous operators had it. guardsman patrols along the beach is visible. However, I was advised that this is to ensure that the people who sell small items like peppered shrimp and peanuts don't access the beach to peddle their wares. The kitchen staff was well mannered, cashier was good, and the other server at counter was also very helpful. Small children and the elderly were allowed to park closer to the beach in the previous set up, this is no longer allowed. There is a lot of potential here to make this a great space, but there are areas that need to be addressed urgently, specifically the food and the customer service.

As I live in Kingston, Fort Clarence beach is one of the closest, so I frequent the location whenever I need to be alone with my thoughts or get some amazing fried fish and bammy or festival. The beach was recently leased and is under renovation. Currently it feel a bit more spacious based on some of the work done. There is no sea weed currently which is awesome. There are benches and shaded areas that you can plant yourself close to, but otherwise enough sand for your picking of a spot to tan. The current can be a but unpredictable, as well as the wind sometimes, but on certain days it's very quiet and nice. Current entry price is J$300 for adults and the beach opens at 10a on weekends. With the continued renovation more changes are expected to arrive, so we will see what it becomes. Still one of my nearer beach spots of preference. I Def recommend it. The fish guys accept debit and credit cards but always good to walk with some cash. The beach is also pretty safe and an occasional vendor may try to sell you something but they aren't usually pushy.

Hanged there with some friends pretty clean. Has showers and a hut to order fish and festival. There is also restrooms. You can carry your own food in. Down side they won't allow any inflatable objects in the water. The cost to enter is $250. There are jelly fish when it's not crowded by people. Drop a like if this review helped.

Very relaxing, enjoyed my visit, free wifi , complimentary beach chair . Sandy area and water clean enough to swim in, ( seaweed present ) no venders haggling you. Definitely a good place to go swimming if staying in Kingston or Portmore

Owned and operated by Guardsman Group of company Paid entry: $1000 per adult, $500 per child Only one restaurant but have snapper, lobster and shrimp. Liquor and drinks. No snacks. Food decent Lots of seats and beach chairs (free). Sand was Clean enough and there was lots of it between the sea and restaurant and seating area. Music present. Cool vibes Just sad that the beach water wasn't suitable to swim in so they warned us not to enter it at the time. But it was otherwise nice.

This place is okay for refreshments. After bathing in ocean there is fresh water arrangements where you can clean yourself. Food stall, wash room and changing rooms are also available there with good arrangements. Tables are there to have sun bathe at the beach. But have to pay 1000 JMD to take the advantage of all of these things.

Ft. Clarence Beach is one of the better beaches in Portmore. The facilities, whilst in need of improvement are fairly well kept and are generally clean. There is a peace of mind whilst swimming here, as there are multiple lifeguards on duty who keep a watchful eye on persons in the water. There are several cook shops on the compound serving jamaican style seafood dishes. You can also get beach chairs to rent for a small fee. This Beach is worth the visit once you are in Portmore or its environs.

Beautiful scenery, long shore line, clear water and great beach facilities however, the showers 🚿 should not be on the beach, where you have to walk on the sand afterwards, I suggest those are move closer to the changing rooms, overall lovely day you will have at the beach with family and friends. Five star for me.

Great beach for a quick get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's kept clean and has a minimal J$250 (J$100 kids) per person fee for entry. Also cook shops are on the beach for good seafood meals (escoveitch fish J$1400-1600 per pound). If you don't compare it to north coast beaches you'll be 100% satisfied. Enjoy!

The renovation works that commenced after the summer of 2019 really paid off. The facility really had a major face lift. Clean beach front, newly built bar area, better renovated restrooms a d changing areas, outdoor shower stalls, and a burger/food cart. GUARDSMAN security really went all out to make Fort Clarence Beach a conducive family attraction.

Great beach with clean bathrooms and changing stalls. There are swings for the kids and the young at heart. The numerous food vendors offer lobster, soup, festival, steamed and roast fish and an assortment of drinks. Lifeguards are always on duty so no need to fear drowning.

The good: Sea was warm, water calm, no seaweed so swimming was pleasant. Lots of sand and they raked the beach. There were plenty of lounge chairs. Each chair received a cleaning before they were brought down to the beach for you. Two shower areas to rinse off. I did not use the bathrooms. You are unofficially allowed to bring outside food. Staff was polite and helpful. No vendors hustling you to buy anything. The bad: Their food service is terrible, you will die of hunger before you get any food. My family lives in Jamaica so they knew to bring food. Any unsuspecting tourist would be really disappointed and hungry. We wanted to get some festival but gave up after a 1 and a half hour wait even though we could see the festival ready on a tray. We had to leave the property and go next door for fish and festival. This lack of food service is appalling. They need more than one food vendor to ensure competition which will help to instill quality. Debris that was raked up was left in mounds all along the edge of the sand, quite an eyesore. Beach and sea experience, okay. Food service, lacking and in need of major improvement. Hopefully, things will improve soon.

I I like the beach is so good because the pool is so cool and not even cool with my daughter she always run up and down with her friends and she is quite impatient when I get her food so when I get your food she just sit down and eat quietly so I like this beach like it it's so beautiful and really quiet sometimes and I reach it there and I just couldn't relax everything I want

Very relaxing place now. No more lewd music or garbage. Pay $1k and get a beach chair and free wifi along with clean restrooms. I love going there now and just lying in the beach while listening to good music and enjoying the breeze. Great job Guardsman Group. It's a pleasure to patronize the facilities now.

Enjoyed our family trip to Fort Clarence! The beach chairs were accessible and at no additional charge and parking and entry was hassle free. The cost to enter was $1000. Didn't see a wash off area close to the restrooms (might have missed it) but putting some away from the beach area would be good. That way after washing off the sand you are not walking back in sand to get to your vehicle.

This beach is a great beach. Beautiful and certainly a must stop of you wanna go to the beach while in Kingston. It’s recently been upgraded but you won’t find little shallow pools for kids. That’s disappointing for me. The wait for food can be long too so you’ll have to order and come back.

Entry fee: $1,000 Adults (Includes one beach chair) $500 Children The beach was breezy and relaxing but had a lot of seaweed when I visited. The food left much to be desired… the steamed fish could have been better seasoned, the festivals were very cornmealy (if you like them that way then youre in the right place) and the bammy was awful. Overall I’d go for the beach but not the food.

The grounds have been upgraded with an official ticket/staff office, plus a kitchen, bathroom/changing rooms, and outdoor shower facilities. The operations are properly managed with a full staff complement that's always busy working. Lifeguards and security personnel are visible. There's also ample shade, complimentary lounge chairs, and free wifi. Personally, the food is overpriced but patrons are allowed to bring their food.
