So peaceful! I came on a Wednesday night around 630pm. I’m not sure how long the boardwalk is but I walked about 1.2 miles along it before turning around. It was really enjoyable! There weren’t too many people and it was such a beautiful night. There were people walking and having picnics on the beach. There were multiple places to get food and drinks also. You had options like burritos, chicken fingers. sandwiches, etc. Will be back!

The Magic of Light show is pretty great! Lots of cool light arrangements. You pay about $40 for the vehicle. Everyone is asked to drive slowly with their headlights off and you can tune into a radio station for Christmas classics as you drive by. I would HIGHLY recommend going either before Christmas or between Christmas

We went there to fill time with a little sight seeing before a wedding. Beach was clean, area is beautiful, even though we were there just a half day before hurricane Henri came to town, so the skies were heavy overcast. Everything about it was great. A convenience store was right there in case you forget some of your beach needs, or just need something to drink or snack on. The pier is beautiful, along with an amazing park for the kids to play in. A first aid center is quickly accessible. Parking is easy to get in an out of. Can't wait to go back soon!

The best venue I've been to a show hands down. We were fortunate enough to have absolute perfect weather (clear skies and mid 60s) for our show (Offspring, Sum 41 and Simple Plan). Being outside right on the water with no walls for sound to dch off makes it incredible. Getting in and out was a absolute breeze considering it was a nearly sold out show. Definitely recommend paying for $80 upgraded Premier parking to get out ASAP.

Great beach! $10 to park all day in one of the lots nearby. (I believe they stop letting cars in at 4pm, but not 100%) The water is actually a decent ways away from the main boardwalk, but they have this nice walkway mat that leads all the way to the lifeguard area that makes it much easier as you're not having to walk on sand. We didn't explore down the boardwalk much, but we will definitely be back.

One of the better beaches in Long Island. It has the boardwalk in field 4 if you just wanna go for a stroll. There's volleyball nets & a playground. Amongst other activities. There's food, as well as the Gatsby restaurant that was opened a few years ago. And of course you can enjoy the water

On August 30th, my friends and I embarked on a captivating journey to Jones Beach with the intention of witnessing the enchanting blue moon. The night held an added layer of excitement as the iconic Smashing Pumpkins took the stage at the Jones Beach Theater, drawing a diverse crowd of music enthusiasts. Despite the memorable evening, there was a noticeable absence of readily available refreshments and bites on Parking Lot 6 and the boardwalk, leaving a minor gap in an otherwise exceptional experience. Taking into account the captivating lunar display, the mesmerizing music in the distance, and the enthusiastic crowd of band fans and skywatchers, I’d rate this outing a solid 4 out of 5.

Jones Beach State Park is a great place to visit, not far from New York City. One of the best beaches within a short distance from Queens. It’s especially fun to bring my son as they have a really nice playground and great facilities and amenities such as cafes and restaurants and beach shops.

Love to come here off season. Not crowded. Favourite spot - Field 6. Love to ride a scooter along the boardwalk with my kid. Plenty of space for walking, sitting and enjoying the views. Nice playground. Activities for all ages :)

Jones Beach is world famous for a reason. Lovely beaches with ample parking. Some of the bath houses could use updating but they are kept quite clean. You will find a diverse crowd enjoying themselves. Go for a long walk on one of the boardwalks or in the sand or spend the day playing in the sand and water. You will have a great time, well worth the $10 fee. Photo just for fun, it’s really a very clean beach.

One of the absolute best beach experiences I have ever had. Well thought out for families with small children with lots if free activities for kids. The beach is accessible (with mats to roll your wagon/stroller on close to the water line) not crowded, clean. Just WOW!

Went to Jones Beach for the first time this past 4th of July weekend and had a great time. It was fairly easy to find parking and then a long trek to the beach, but my friend is from the area and told us to be prepared to walk...LOL. I wish the Gatsby was open for lunch, but we made do with the concession area before heading down to the beach itself. It was a really hot day and we forgot to bring an umbrella, but luckily the store attached to the concessions area had plenty of umbrellas for sale. The concession food is about what you would expect and the line can get pretty long, but if you need food or drinks, it will do just fine. After we finished lunch we headed to the beach and found a spot for three without too much trouble. I spotted a vacant spot with a mound of sand perfect to secure our umbrella since we did not have a shovel to dig a hole for it. We setup our chairs and enjoyed our view of the ocean and music coming from various other gatherings all around us. Even though the beach was busy, we were able to easily access the water and enjoyed a nice stroll along the edge of the waves. The water is as cold as you would expect for the North Atlantic, but you get used to it and it feels refreshing on such a hot day. Overall, we had a great experience. I'm glad my friend is a Long Island resident; so we only paid $10 to park instead of $50. I recommend this historic beach to anyone who finds themselves in Long Island during the summer. Thanks!

Multiple beach access, concert stadium, easy to get around. Area to be experienced and loved. We went to the coast guard area and there was plenty of garbage. We cleaned up the beach a bit. You would think the coast guard would help and clean up their area. Do your part and help Mother nature

There was me on a Sunday, driving around to find some peace at the shore of the beach, Jones Beach, at this time, then l was thinking on how good will it be to have a place to sit & enjoy some time next to the ocean, suddenly l got in to the coffee shop and l was pleasantly surprised to find, in the middle of the winter, a great space with amazing views & quick pick up of some basic options that will complete your day. Who would have thought that l could find a great New England Clam Chowder, or the best french fries, beach version of course, that you can get in the area. A nice launch place that received people that slowly arrived and created such a nice atmosphere, l will definitely will be back to enjoy moments of peace & snacks after my winter shore walks!!! Very well done Nassau County!!!

If you can get here by 6 AM during the summertime definitely go to beach number six, it’s the shortest distance to the water otherwise you will be walking an easy quarter of a mile to the water from your car. Being at this beach is definitely an amazing feeling,It’s a quick getaway from New York City. You will feel like you were transported to another state. I would have given it five stars but like I said the walk to the water with all of your beach gear is a hassle.

Had a blast at the beach! Loved that there was a mat on the beach to help us roll our cooler. The waves were huge and they had life guards to keep everyone safe. The sand was soft and the sun was shinning. A great day was had by all. It was so much bigger than we were used to. I will say, if you have a lot of stuff Robert Moses or smiths point might be better becuase the walk from the parking to the sand is shorter.

Memorial Day weekend with the Blue Angels was breath taking. The air show was magnificent. The jets were coming out of nowhere passing so fast and so low that all you could it said was WOW ,OH SHUT. Because it took everyone by surprise. If you are going to pass a day at this beach make sure you are prepared with food and water .It's a great beach for kids to collect shells and pebble stones. I'll be there next yr for sure. Tip:Get there early for a good spot

A most excellent state park with many different fields for your particular enjoyment. There's volleyball court miniature golf just strolling along the boardwalk many different types of restaurants there is a giant jungle gym type thing with ziplining if that's your thing there's even an unofficial gay beach field 6 East. You can walk a couple of miles with dunes on your left and ocean on your right...

It's been quite sometime since I've been here but I decided I would go, finish my book on a bench on the boardwalk, and look at the beach. There are more plants than I remember, and the beach looks cleaner. I see dune barriers, remnants of Sandy's visit, I suppose, but the nostalgia hit me, and I liked what I saw. I went when it wasn't so crowded but there was still a good amount of families strolling along. Seagulls love this beach and there were plenty of them. I'm just glad I went - I shall return.

In the 21st century, it's hard sometimes to figure out why a person or a place is famous other than being famous. That's not the case with Jones Beach State Park. It's awesome and beautiful and open and inviting and I would want to go back there even if I'd've never heard of it before.

I haven’t been here in over ten years and It’s way better than I remembered. I enjoyed the beach, the sand and water was clean and it wasn’t crowded. Also parking is only $10 and after 4pm (weekdays) and 6pm (weekends) it’s free to park. So if you’re looking to just hang after work or an evening stroll on the beach take comfort that it’s free after those times.

Easy parking, long open beach, many shops on the broadwalk, also has a long bicycle path. You can always find a spot for yourself or your family. Plenty of restrooms and shops, it's also very safe. Do check the wind beforehand, 25mph windy day is too much for biking.

A very clean beach, ideal for relaxing because there is no music noise other than the waves of the sea. There is ample parking and several restrooms. You also find food in case you don't come prepared. They also sell ice cream carts and security, there are many lifeguards for any mishap. There are several spaces that you can enter throughout the island, they are listed and each one with its respective parking lot.

I've been to a fair share of beaches from New York to Florida, but this was by far the largest beach to date. Plenty of sand to pitch your parasol and set up camp for the day. Clean, until the end of the day when beachgoers leave their trash behind. Shame on those fools. Live entertainment, places to eat, and the ocean view is endless. Seemed to be enough parking, but be prepared to walk a couple hundred yards to get to the beach and boardwalk.

This venue is decent. There is a ton of space, enough restrooms to where I never had an issue getting in, and it does stay cool in the summer time, being in the water. I’ve been up in the bleachers as well as in the pit, and the views are great. This venue does have an issue with the sound. Every time I’ve attended (most recently for Goo Goo dolls and Offspring) the vocals are extremely hard to hear during the performance. Vocals are ok when just talking or during some acoustic sets, but there seems to be an issue with sound equalizing/sound check. It is one of the most frustrating experiences to pay to see a performance and then not be able to hear the lead singer. Overall, it’s ok if it’s your last resort.

Being able to visit JB summer 2020 was a blessing. Referencing only to Field 6 mid PM, the only field I went to, I felt quite safe. Visited only on weekdays, when there is no admission charge for seniors. Capacity was limited - every other parking space was blocked off - so sometimes lot was temporarily closed (circling around several times generally worked). Mask wearing was limited, but given capacity restriction, I was easily able to social distance. Concession stand was closed beginning of summer, but eventually opened (did not use). Rest rooms were continuously maintained (much more, I think, than during "normal" summer). Overall, perfect way to spend the day during this crazy time.

an amazing fine sand beach to spend the day with warm sand between your toes! a rather strong current makes the waves a little strong but fun for the kids and the life guards are on duty. my only concern were STABLE FLIES(aka dog fly, biting house fy, power mower fly) if you have exposed skin they will bite down with a sharp sting and despite efforts to swat them away they will not go far! if you are headed to these beaches I strongly suggest some sort of bug repellent!!

Summer 2020 on Jones beach was a little bit of a challenge, having to adhere to the Covid -19 guidelines. Surprisingly Beth and I had a great time. I had to wear my mask, because of health issues. But I am glad we got to go.

(Translated by Google) The beautiful Jones white sand beaches are surrounded by the sea on three sides and facing the Atlantic Ocean. Every summer millions of people visit this park to travel and play on the beach. There is a large pine forest to the west. We are here in winter to find a very special-looking bird called Hongjiao. Finch, its mouth is cross-shaped and eats pine nuts. For the stability of the sand, there is also a large piece of artificially planted grass on the beach, which is a habitat for various wild animals😻 (Original)

Did a four mile run along the shoreline. To get down to the shoreline you did have to go through a lot of snow today but it was mostly packed down and not very deep. The boardwalk also had a central path cleared but it was very narrow and difficult to socially distance or go around people easily. So that's why we opted for the shoreline. It was impossible to do a run on the boardwalk today, it was really only appropriate for walkers because of the numbers of people out on such a gorgeous day. The upcoming warmer weather and rain should clear a lot of it though in the next few days.

This is the jewel of New York state. Great beach that stretches for miles. Well maintained facilities and plenty of parking space. Be prepared to walk since the shore is a few hundred yards from the parking fields so pack light. Field 6 has the shortest walk but it's a small lot which fills up early. Follow the speed limit since there are plenty of state police always around.

This past weekend was beautiful. A dear friend from out of state came to visit, so I planned events she'd love. Knowing our Jones Beach is so special and famous, I drove all along the ocean pointing out the "Needle" which is breathtaking! Then I pulled into Beach 6 so we could walk along the Boardwalk. People along the way looked so relaxed being near the water. There is something spiritual about being so close to the Atlantic Ocean! We are truly blessed in so many ways with the beauty here in New York State. Covid changed so many things, but we should get back to the good things that make New Yorkers who we are!

Jones Beach is always my 1st choice for a quick weekend outing. Clean and maintained well. Sand is clean and you don't find garage laying around. Lots of parking. But extremely busy in season months. Pool is great option if beach is not your thing. Plenty of bathrooms. Be prepared for long lines in and out of beach. They hold concerts and events as well. A true Gem for us new Yorkers to enjoy the beach.

At low tide about 4 pm today, a young fur seal landed on the sand. The park staff said that he was resting and don’t need help. Who agrees with this? I know that if you do not help to return to him in water in time, the animal may die. the animal was left on the sand. nobody helped.

Great venue! Helpful staff. Just remember the seats vary alot in size(width). I measured and 2 end seats in one section were 4 inches smaller than the exact seats same row across the isle. Section R as compared to section L. The staff handled it great but still a surprise to us that have been going to Jones beach for years.

I love coming to this beach. Absolutely beautiful and clean! I just wished the women's changing room had a roof 😑 when it gets late and the wind picks up it's very cool and uncomfortable changing, especially with that freezing cold water from the shower. The walk is super long from the parking lot that's the only thing. Otherwise you'll love it here. The beach is free but parking is 10 dollars for the entire day.

  • 5/5 Edward C. 1 year ago on Google
This state park has got multiple beaches, a playground, picnic area, and a boardwalk. Its a pretty good place to go to the beach. I'd recommend taking a bike there to avoid paying the parking fee and for some good fresh air and exercise. Its got water fountains too but the water is pretty murky, only for thirst emergencies. Lots of gulls too.

  • 5/5 Melissa N. 10 months ago on Google
Summer again! It's time to go to the beach. Jones Beach is one of not too far and the outer barrier islands off the southern coast of Long Island New York. Swimming is allowed only when lifeguards are on duty. There is no admission charge to visit the Jones Beach. Dogs are only allowed off-leash and to swim in the southern area of Jones Beach. This area is indicated by northern and southern boundary signs on the beach. Dogs are prohibited at all times from all other areas of the beach, including dunes and the rock platform.

Piers are so clean. There is a bait and tackle house onsite. There is a fully supplied men's and women's bathroom. Super clean. Security onsite as well. Super safe. It's 10 dollars to come in and park. I'm not sure if it's a senior discount. Pier 10 has four separate piers with wooden tablettes to prepare bait and sit your fishing rod. Get for family fishing days. There are picnic tables in front of the baithouse, but I'm not sure if it's part of that business, but it's there.

This place has nostalgia for me. I grew up going here. It’s changed a lot in 20 years and I find it overcrowded, the trash never kept up with, the walk is 900 years from the car and then 900 years to a spot. I prefer the Suffolk beaches. Beautiful once you get a good spot though. Take a drive up Ocean Parkway. It’s lovely.

Can't believe it's taken me this long to see a concert at Jones Beach! Great venue right on the water. Tons of concessions. It could do with a facelift at some point since it's looks like a penitentiary or the Thunderdome.

Wayyyyyyyyyy better than Robert Moses Beach. The sand is so soft and the beach is so big. Definitely going again. I'm pretty sure it closes after 8 cause that's the time we had to leave.

Amazing place to enjoy with family, fresh water, white sand, and clean. Spectacular 😀 👌 🙌 😄 I don't like to give bad reviews, but the only thing that wasn't good was the showers. The people in charge should implement the place better and modernize the showers,😔😔 to be such a beautiful place, they should have better showers 😊😊😊

The sound of the waves will make you crazy! This beach is one in a hundred and too crowded during summer. Luckily we got there on a windy and cloudy weather day so it was kind of an empty place but the water waves were roaring and felt intriguing. Nice place for adult couples to spend a weekend in Long Island.

Birder's paradise. An international birding destination due to its array of shorebirds, waterfowl and songbirds, especially during migration. There are days when you have to be careful not to step on the hundreds of Golden-crowned Kinglets. Be sure to visit the shoreline grassland restoration at the Energy and Nature Center , proof that "if you build it they will come". Sparrows and other grassland birds love it; seen this fall; Song, Savannah, White-crowned, White-throated, Vesper, Nelsons, Lark, Field, Gray-cheeked, Lincolns, and Chipping Sparrows. Plus Bobolinks, Blue Grosbeaks, Horned Larks, Pippets, and many Merlins, Kestrels, Peregrines, Coops, Sharpies, N. Harriers, and the occasional Bald Eagle. Osprey in summer. On the Coast Guard station sand spit and in the channel recently (come on the falling tide, search for Jones inlet tides) a lingering flock of Marbled Godwits, American Oystercatchers, Black Skimmers, Common, Forsters and Least Terns, Piping Plovers, Black-bellied Plovers, Red Knots, an array of sandpipers, Black and Surf Scoters, Common Eider and Common loon. Photos all taken in October.
