Neiwan Old Street offers a glimpse into Taiwan's history and Hakka culture. Visit on weekends for a lively atmosphere and fully open shops. Be aware of potential crowds and limited facilities. A longer stay would allow to visit the 100 year old church and other attractions
Best visited on weekends when all shops are open. Weekdays offer a quieter experience, but many shops may be closed. Check train schedules for a scenic route from Hsinchu. Plan for at least a couple of hours to explore and try the local food. Public transport requires attention to the schedule

Beautiful old street in Taiwan. Take a one hour slow train ride from Hsinchu train station to view and enjoy the scenery to and from this destination. I was here on a Monday and many shops were not open. I imagine that the crowd and activities will be a lot more on weekends. Lots of street food and sit-down restaurants and souvenirs and snack shops. All the stall owners are genuinely sincere and happy to chat with you.
From the bus stop entrance, it seems so quiet on an weekday afternoon with not many stores open. Perhaps the entrance from the train station would be more crowded but if you are following tour & only given 30 mins to explore, can't really enjoy much. But if you do see stores selling the green Mochi, get it! It's delicious!
Went on a weekend but not as crowded manage to enjoy it. Lots of nice food along the way up to the train station. Nice meat skewers, yam cake, lu wei and ice cream. Plan more time there to explore the place didn't get to fully enjoy it as I was with tour.
Cute little old street with many shops and temples around the area but a lot of them seem to be closing much earlier than the said time on the map.
A very local place with tons of food options. Most tourists here are locals. You can allot 1-2 hours strolling this street or stay a night for hotsprings or camping
Same repetitions as every night market in Taiwan. There are fun activities for kids. But almost everyone seems to be selling the same things. The number of shops can be cut down by 70% and you’ll have the same variety. No proper public toilets anywhere.
A very authentic old street to go and walk around you can find lots of local delightful street food and a cafe to hang around.. feel sad didn't have enough time to visit an 100 yes old church.. also nearby old street next to it has a karting circuit and playground park for kids to play. Love the place lots. Will definitely plan for my next trip again for missing spots..
An excellent street filled with tones of very reasonably priced street vendors!! One of my favorite ones throughout Taiwan yet with a large variety of interesting foods and items for purchase. Everyone was very nice and the streets were cleaned with public bathrooms available! This is the last train stop on the line and worth riding the train up to it so you can also go hike in the nearby trails to the rivers and waterfalls! Otherwise enjoy the streets and foods!
復古之旅
老街有深度的客家美食,但對使用公共交通公具的人要做好來回時間抽
Monday = most shops closed. Couldn't get there on a weekend, so not Neiwan's fault 😌. Have some fun at the go cart track ( the first one)
Lively and amazing old street in Hsinchu. However, most shops are closed except for the market on weekdays and there is nothing much to do. On weekends, however, all shops are open. On weekend the streets are extremely lively and sell local produce that tastes pretty good. Recommended to come on weekends only.
It's a very pleasant street with many food options. In addition to the beautiful view of the bridge.
Went during winter times so weather was cooling, food was also quite affordable with really pretty street view, worth a visit :)
Running from my dormitory to this place was an amazing experience. The View is Good.
