Rocklands Petting Farm in Hermanus is an average attraction for families looking to spend a few hours with farm animals. While it has its charms, there are also some areas for improvement. The farm is home to a variety of animals, including sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, and even ponies. Children will enjoy feeding and petting the animals, and there are also some fun activities like pony rides and a small playground. However, the overall experience can be underwhelming. The farm is quite small, and there isn't much to see beyond the animals. Some of the enclosures are quite basic, and the animals don't always appear to be well cared for. Additionally, the staff can be somewhat disengaged, and there is a lack of enthusiasm in their interactions with visitors. Another issue is the admission fee, which is somewhat high given the size of the farm and the limited activities on offer. While it may be worth it for families with young children who are eager to interact with the animals, others may find the price to be a bit steep for what is essentially a short visit to a small petting farm. Overall, while Rocklands Petting Farm is not a bad choice for a quick family outing, it falls short of being a truly exceptional attraction. With some improvements to the animal enclosures and staff engagement, it could be a more enjoyable experience for visitors.

This petting farm was not bad, but it was a little bit disappointing. According to their website, and their name, they are a petting farm. Therefore I expected to be able to touch the animals. When we got there, we paid for a snackpack and entry fees - which I have to say is quite cheap. But when it came to feed the animals, all of them are in cages and the gates are locked. We couldnt pet any of them, and there wasnt someone walking with us who could open the gates. Also, some of the animals were in a bad condition and most of the cages doesnt have clean water. This was very sad and not good for young children to see. The animals are cute yes, but we couldn't pet any of them - and thus even the name of this place isn't accurate.

Awesome time for kids and adults alike! The animals are super friendly and the staff are great. They also sell plants. One suggestion would be to have a staff member monitor the bunny rabbit enclosure to ensure the bunnies don’t feel overwhelmed by the kids or aren’t mishandled either. Other than that - super fun and highly recommended!

We arrived just before 4pm in time for feeding. The kids loved all the animals. Ps. This is our 2nd visit in two days.

Really wasn't what I expected. The animals were starving and so unkept. The poor pig had flies all over her ears, to the point that they were bleeding. The water troughs were filled with moss and the water was filthy, the poor little animals. Really broke my heart

The cutest petting farm and the animals are so well looked after. You can see the owners LOVE animals. Such a variety. Our 2-year-old adored the bunnies.

We had a superb time at Rocklands petting farm with the kids. It is an interactive experience but even the little kiddos enjoyed watching the animals. There are ducks, sheep, goats, peacocks, ostrich, pigs, rabbits, Guinea pigs, baby hedgehog etc. The entry fee is decent and you can purchase snack packs to feed the animals. There is a sitting area where we had a couple of snacks. The owner was welcoming and showed us around and brought out certain animals for the kids to play and pose with.

The people who leave this great reviews are clearly not animal lovers and are only there to entertain their children. This place is a disgrace, the animals are not in good condition, some of the rabbits are severely underweight, the guinea pigs don't have fresh hay which they need and the piglets have horrible skin conditions. The enclosures are very dirty and no fresh water was seen for the animals. I really hope that the owners use the money they receive from children stepping on their animals to start feeding the animals properly.

Relaxed farm atmosphere. Had wonderful breakfast of the best toasties ever made on the smokey wood fire with lovely fresh ground coffee and peacocks sweeping by casually. My grand daughter had the best time ever !

Would definitely recommend for down to earth people! Get a snack pack and feed these lovely farm animals.

R30 entry fee, R10 for a bucket of fees for the animals and LOADS of fun for the kids. Get yourself a cappuccino while your little ones walk around feeding the animals. Very clean bathrooms and happy friendly staff.

I suppose it could be nice for young kids but I felt a little bad for the animals, enclosures seemed small and a little in disrepair

Nice place. Good coffee. Kids really enjoyed there visit. Needs some expansion but I am sure thus will happen as soon as the road construction is done.

Worth popping in here. You wont be disappointed. Low entry fee. And the toasted sammies made on the fire are to die for. Animals are in exquisite condition and looked after properly. I'd give more stars if I could.
