Tourist attraction Winery

👍👍 Ataraxia has wonderful wines, I couldn't pick just one I loved. The tasting room is beautiful, situated in an old-style chapel. The views of the vineyards is amazing. There's a bit of a wait if you have not booked and it's busy - but enough time to wander around outside and take photos. People often mention tasting, wine, wines, views, great, Lionel,

Interesting art and beautiful views. Drive to “wine lounge” a little precarious. Enjoyed tasting wine, but found sommelier a little uninterested in customers so late in the day.

Interesting location. The tasting room was referred to as a wine lounge. Remote building on the farm with really great views around the area, looks like a church (and has an authentic pew inside) but according to the hostess was purpose built for the tasting purpose and has never been a church or chapel. The building was adorned with colourful abstract art works from local artist Tay Dall. The wines themselves were pleasant and refined. Definitely worth a visit.

A tasting room with an incredible view. We visited the ataraxia tasting room and were greeted by interesting art pieces, friendly staff and an amazing view of the hemel-en-aarde valley. We had a guided tasting of the regular wines produced by the estate and well as a special edition Pinot Noir at no charge. A high recommendation for the black chardonnay as a take home bottle.

We just had such a wonderful experience here. We drove up this morning 🌞 around 11:30 (actually in search of a pre-wine coffee) and I stopped the car twice on my way to the Wine Lounge. The views are out of this world. The little chapel style wine lounge sits proud on the too of a hill surrounded by vineyards and rolling mountains. The building is stunning, with a bell that is rung at random :). As we arrived Lionel, the wine lounge manager arrived with us to open just for us! We walked in and were immediately blown away by the interior of the lounge. It is open to the views, decorated with amazing art and the furniture is an eclectic mix and match that creates a homely glamour. As we sat we got lured in by the brilliant Lionel straight into a delicious tasting of their 4 wines.and Lionel continued to entertain us with his good humour and one liners. What an exceptional space and doggo friendly!! Can't wait to bring more friends .

What a great experience! We came towards closing time but the friendly lady who served us, was happy to seat us and walk us through the tasting. We did the standard 5 wine tasting menu to get a sense of what was on offer. I enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc, and the Chardonnay was exceptional. The Pinot noir was not my favourite, a personal taste, as I thought it kind of stank. But I’m not a wine fundy so I’m not sure if that’s a valid view haha. The lady was very knowledgable and it was such a pleasure to be in a very serene space, the Chapel, which was lovely decorated and surrounded by beautiful scenery. I would highly recommend the experience and their wines. Thanks for the great time! 😃

Beautiful wine farm that concentrates on the essentials: the art of making wine. We had a great time at the tasting with Lionel, not only because of the outstanding wines but also due to his deep knowledge and kindness. Also exciting architecture. Definitely recommendable for wine lovers!

We popped in quickly for the tasting of their four wines. Enjoying the drive to get to the venue was a plus. Gave a sense of the farm and its scope. We were quickly welcomed and seated. Lionel gave us the usual script and left us to taste the wines. Only once we asked a few questions, were we given a rich answer with interesting information about the area. Great quick stop.

👍👍 This is truly a great experience! You can enjoy nature at its best. The trail routes are clearly marked. We did not have any difficulties navigating along the well kept trails. The nature reserve staf are friendly and helpful. Take your swimming gear with when you do the waterfall route.
