Wow... beautiful scenery 😍 there is a few hiking trials, however we did the walk to the "beach" about 5km per way... however there is other hiking trials as well... The reserve also offers accommodation... check out their website... An amazing day spend with beautiful people! Highly recommended 👌🏽

Beautiful nature Reserve. It’s so big and the trails are very long. Palmiet river trail is at least 4 hours back n forth with kids. It’s approx 9km walking. My hack for getting to and from the beach, would be to walk along the oudebosch road in the park, all the way from the reception up to the beach. The walk wouldn’t be as scenic as the river walk, but much faster and feet friendly. #justsaying

Beautiful reserve. Great walks but not always as easy or as short as they say! Watch out for snakes. Well worth a visit

One of the most beautiful nature reserves within South Africa, offering various types of sustainable accommodation and hiking routes. Regarding accommodation, there are multiple self catering units from 2, 4 and 6 sleepers. These are strategically placed across the reserve to ensure each unit obtains unobstructed views of the beautiful scenery. The units are equipped with all your essentials, while being completely sustainable through systems such as the compostable toilet, solar PV panels, induction hob and energy efficient lighting. The only point of criticism with the units or cabins is that they do require some further maintenance on the exposed timber elements. There is no wifi nor signal within the reserve, thus it allows you to completely switch off without any distractions from the city life chaos. Hiking routes are offered for both guests day visitors. Offering views of the rolling mountains across all angles. The hikes are clearly marked and are of varying inclines and intensity levels, catering for all ages. I’d highly recommend Kogelberg for a perfect getaway to unwind and connect with nature.

I think the entrance fee is R60, but my friends and I went on Heritage Day so it was free of charge. There are a few trails to choose from, each of them span quite a distance, and they are not difficult to navigate at all. I can't remember the name of trail that we took, but it ran parallel to a river. It was beautiful, and surprisingly there was very little other people on that trail. There's also a cute little "beach area" towards the halfway point where you can rest along the river and take nice pictures. Disclaimer: I wouldn't recommend using any of these trails when it's raining😅. You will slip!

We've done the 11km Palmiet River trail. The facilities at reception are clean and in a good condition. The trail is well maintained. Overall, a pleasant experience.

This is what it means to go off the grid. No cellphone reception, no wi-fi, no television. It rained on both nights. Our pod Strooiblommetjie was literally in the middle of the bush. The cabin has huge windows and watching the birds and the rain was awesome. We walked the Palmiet trail but most of it was flooded so we had to turn back. Would like to visit again. The eco-loo’s takes getting used too. Lol

This was our getaway for 2 glorious nights in the Kogelberg Nature Reserve between Betty's Bay and Kkeinmond. The Palmiet River was flowing beautifully after good rains in August.. On day 2 of our stay we did a 11km gentle loop going up the jeep track and coming back along the Palmiet River. Such amazing mountain views, streams, waterfalls and spring flowers We did a lunch stop at the "Beach" - dipped our toes in the cold water. You can go in for a day visit with your Wild Card or pay the Reserve Fee. We didn't get to see any buck on that day but we were pleasantly visited by a gennet that evening at the lodge. The Eco Lodges were just amazing to stay in and they are so well insulated and well ventilated. The waterless Loo is a first for me and there is truly no stink whatsoever - just make sure you keep the fan on all the time. This is one of the best nature reserves that we have stayed in and we loved our stay, especially as it is only an hour and a half from Cape Town - so for us that's a huge bonus. Kkeinmond is about 2kms away - some lovely restaurants there if you didn't feel like cooking. I almost didn't want to share so I could keep this our secret Getaway. The one criticism I do have is that there was no recycling bin.

Fantastic views and places to swim along the River hike. The river hike is a very easy walk, but there is no shade. The large poor with beach to swim at is 4.5km down the river. During the pandemic they are only letting 40 people in, so make sure you get there early.

This place can only access with car. From the main way u need to drive extra 3km. Entrance fee was 60 zar/ person. It‘s worth to go there for a day trip & trekking. Would highly recommend rover trekking, cus at the end of ur trip u can swim there. It s beautiful there as well the nature, stunning in every corners. If u re lucky, u can see more animsls n baboons as well. Well prepare cuz it s extremely hot there in this summertime.

Kleinmond Nature Reserve is a wonderful Hiking place between Kohelberg Nature Reserve and Kleinmond, It makes people fall in love at first sight; Especially in spring, which can bring joy to every step of your hiking. You can have a braai by the stream, or have a picnic among the mountains and forests; like a cloud aimlessly, or like a free blue crane. During the blooming season, the flowers all over the mountains and plains are dizzying; During the rainy season, the gurgling water of the waterfall makes people forget themselves. Kleinmond Nature Reserve is a opening arms of nature, you can enter the embrace of nature without paying; it calls on tourists to maintain a clean environment, so that we can always have this beautiful pure land.

Breathtaking nature reserve with great hikes. The 24km Kogelberg Trail is diverse and beautiful and a great activity to fill the day, as it takes around 7 hours. The nature is amazing and the path easy to find and hike, but a decent level of fitness is a must, simply due to the length of the hike. Tickets can only be bought on site in cash.

Ticket R60 per person at the gate. Super friendly and efficient staff. Oudebosch-Harold Porter hike well kept. One crucial spot where there wasn't a direction indication. Mostly an easy walk , some harder parts and some steep descends. Should be ok for whole family.

Amazing place - quite, private beach with life guards on duty. Very large camp terrains. Pack all your stuff away so the baboons don't get to it.

What a nice getaway in the mountains. Stayed at the mbali lodge very nice and clean 5 star accommodation only the toilet is a compost toilet something to get use to on your stay. There are plenty of hikes to choose from during the day. There’s no cell and WiFi signal.

Great hiking trails next to the river. Stunning rock pools to swim and beautiful fynbos

We did the Palmiet River walk. A very easy walk that rambles along the edge of the Palmiet River. Take water and your costume as there are plenty of swimming spots along the way. Beautiful fynbos and vegetation and if you love photography and flowers- plenty to spot along the way, so a camera is a must. It's an easy walk that doesn't require any special skills and very safe for children too. The walk itself there and back is about 2 hours but plan a few hours for stopping along the way for photos, lunch and a swim. I've done this walk twice, once in Winter and once in summer and the vegetation was totally different each time. Well worth it.

A truly beautiful reserve with incredible views and flora. We were a little disappointed that only the Palmiet River Trail was open when we visited as we would have liked to hike more of the reserve.

Beautiful place for any hiking experience, no doubt in my mind. We did Palmiet river trail. Easy route and simple to follow. However, it is cash only (no website informed me) and there is a limit to how many hikers are allowed (no website informed me) so either get there before they open to save your “seat” or risk not being able to walk in this beautiful place. Lastly, you cannot buy a permit online for the palmiet river trail or day hike pass, why!?! Pathetic, caused us to be late and risked not being allowed to hike.

Beautiful views. The Palmieri river was great for swimming. Lovely hikes. The Mbali collection was amazingly beautiful and eco friendly accommodation

Was unable to enter. They only allow 40 people at one time in the resort due to covid. Not sure how they calculated that number. Someone from the accommodation facilities left the gate open prior to the park opening, resulting in an influx of people. If you want a free and hassle free experience, rather do the hangklip hiking trail. Although it is part of Cape Nature and you need a permit, there is no entry control.

A unique landscape like nowhere else! Whether you visit in Winter, Autumn, Spring or Summer, you will be treated to gorgeous colours and scenic views that'll take your breath away! The beach is most definitely worth hiking to. There you'll be able to take a dip and swim after a hike in the summer heat. One of Cape Nature's finest indeed. Cape Town is truly one of the world's most beautiful destinations.

Bientang has the most incredible view of the old harbour and the bay. The outdoor seating is great for sunny, still days. Seafood meals are delicious and cocktails enticing and colourful. Service of a very good standard. A visit to this restuarant is a must when in Hermanus!

This place is very quiet and tranquil. For some time away from the city noise, from the hustle and bustle, this place is one of the getaway places for this. I particularly enjoyed the river walk, with beautiful places to stop and savor nature's beauty. There seems to be a lodge close by and I think you can call them and confirm, I just went for a day visit. There are different routes and varying sizes which make it so good for people of all ages and fitnesses. This place comes highly recommended.

One of the most underrated and most unique and beautiful nature reserves in the Western Cape, featuring a myriad of hiking trails. The Palmiet River trail is by far my favourite. Bring your swimming costume and towel (and picnic), particularly in summer
