A nice place to view penguins. Most of the area is cornered off for the birds. It is a nice spot, probably as good as the aquarium in Cape town to view them. This is not a beach for leisure. Large sections are cornered off. There are other beaches close by that can be used for leisure. Plenty of dassies are sometimes out and about as well.

If you looking for not too busy and occupied beach around the area, it’s best place to be. Dog friendly with a very safe parking area monitored by locals, camera's and the local, occasional, never permanent "car guard", Main Beach is great considering it has a versatile fishing, swimmers and surfers beach catering for all from novice to advanced capabilities and aspects of wave riding. Ideal for nice long walks, and spectacular sunrises during the summer months. unfortunately like all semi urban facilities the ablution facilities are a bit rough and can do with a make over. The mountain and sea views are breath taking all year round wrapping you in a 360 degree natural wonder.

What a wonderful beach - long open stretches and clear water, with great sand. But a couple of things let this beach down: there is no accommodation for wheelchair users, the parking gets muddy when wet, and the toilets are in a poor state. And it's really a pity for such a great beeach popular with the locals and tourists. It feels safe and though there were no lifeguards on duty, the water seemed calm and there didn't appear to be many holes. However, there is a rip current warning, so exercise caution when going for a swim.

Lovely beach with sandy shores. Parking is close by at the back of the coastal dunes. There are even some oyster catchers nesting there. Good to see that these spots are well marked so visitors don't step on the eggs.

The scenic views with the drive into Betty's Bay and within Betty's Bay are absolutely lovely and beautiful. We had a fantastic time and I am considering buying property there too. Just wonderful, GOD's creation is incredible.

Beautiful beach. You can walk from the main beach to the Penguins, or turn left and walk towards Dawidkraal. You may see cute little sandplovers, sprinting over the sands as well as Sacrid Ibis and African Black Oystercatchers.

Gorgeous beach. You have to check it out even if you are just driving through. Beautiful soft white sands.

One of my favourite beaches. Beautiful views. Nice for walking. Good surf spot. Good for swimming but take care of the rip. Water warm (er) than Cape Town beaches.

Wonderful beach to have a walk around run on. The waves are very friendly but saw surfers enjoying themselves properly. Water almost warm enough to enter without a wetsuit

Stunning beach that has healthy dune system still in place. Please take care when walking to stay on the worn paths. Great for swimming and surfing. Best conditions for surfing on NW wind. Watch out for rip tides.

Betty's Bay Main Beach is a coastal gem that embodies the essence of natural serenity. With its sweeping sandy shores, this South African beach is a canvas of tranquility and relaxation, where the ebb and flow of the tide serenade your senses. The backdrop of rugged cliffs and the nearby Stony Point Penguin Colony adds a touch of wild elegance to the scene. Basking in the warm sun, watching the waves dance, or catching a glimpse of the charismatic African penguins, this beach offers an idyllic escape that seamlessly blends the allure of nature with the soothing embrace of the sea. A day at Betty's Bay Main Beach is a harmonious symphony of coastal beauty that lingers in the heart and beckons you back to its shores.

A quiet sea side town, the beach is most closed off to protect the Penguins, but that was no problem, as they were the reason we were here. Loved experiencing them up close into a natural habit, appreciated that everyone there was there to enjoy them without disturbing the penguins. A wonderful experience
