Absolutely awesome experience. If you love nature... must see whales close up. Priceless. Had a whale of a time !! Knowledgeable staff, excellent guide, boat and all round experience. You get water, sanitiser and a sweet for nausea ( i recommend taking a tablet if you prone to sea sickness).

We went whale watching with them. They cancelled our original dates due to poor weather but offered alternate dates. We had a wonderful time and managed to see approx 20 whales in total. Very well organised and the host was very informative before and during the cruise. Will definitely recommend them if anyone plans to watch whales in Hermanus, South Africa.

Amazing. Breathtaking. Informative and safe. Perfect for capturing the giants of the ocean. If you're a couple, a family or just wanting to see some whales then this is a definite must! The guide was extremely insightful and entertaining, knowing when to give you information and when to just let the whales speak for themselves. Each whale watching tour with SRC has been unique & you learn a lot about marine life! I thoroughly enjoyed this tour! I'm also grateful they have the drone footage of the tour for purchase!

First of all, take something to deal with the nausea, don’t just deny it. Besides that the guide was amazing and all the stuff were really kind and helpful. We saw a lot of different whales in groups. We saw different species and a mating group of 8 whales. It was definitely something I wouldn’t want to miss. If you’re in the area you must take this tour. There’s also toilets on the boat and on the deck and you can get water or some light drinks and muffins before the tour starts. In reference to the video of the tour, I think it’s really awesome angels to see the whales and the boat with the people with the drone, it really takes beautiful videos of all the experience, but it’s still a little pricey to get it on hard drive after the tour, It costs 360R.

What an amazing experience, made even better by such an amazing company! I was so impressed and grateful for the knowledge, passion and kindness that was shown by each member of the SRC crew, even little Brooke who was eager to point out the different whales to us in the pre-tour briefing. It really made the experience of whale watching 100x better (and that’s saying a lot considering we saw two beautiful gentle giants on our trip 😍). I would definitely return to Hermanus and go whale watching with SRC again. Thank you for making this such an unforgettable experience for a whale obsessed girl!

I didn't go out on cruise but was just as well looked after by staff, shown access to cliff path to "old harbour" received phone call to say cruise back in 20mins. Husband & our visitors really enjoyed their trip, got lots of photos & bought a copy of the drone video.

Very good organization. Easy to book, we did it online just the night before the trip. Easy to find the location. The crew is very attentive. The boat is in good condition. We saw several whales under a good angle!! Just do prepare for the motion sickness, take some tablets ahead. The organization has welcoming tea under a whale roof near the office. Loved everything the team did.

What an amazing trip. Beyond expected. whales were swimming all around the boat and far, a must experience ! Thanks again for the team for the lovely surprise to the young couple !!

It was a wonderful experience. The staff were really knowledgeable and super friendly. We had perfect weather and saw a lot of whales. Some big single whales and a mother whale with its baby at least 2 times. Would recommend it! Do it! 😀

Great tour! Highly recommended. We saw 7 whales! All Southern Right whales. They take the boat as close you can get.. but when a huge whale just dives right under the front of the boat.. wow!

The instructions were clear, guide was amazing!! The boat was in good condition and the sea was gorgeous!! Could spot whales from distance however needed binoculars to clearly see the whale and understand the specifics. Spotted many Dolphins from close distance.

Excellent and informative trip. As someone who is prone to sea sickness I took a pill to help and was perfectly fine. Fortunate to see dolphins and whales where one also breached!! Great experience all round.

Fantastic experience out on the water with Southern Right Charters. The company was very professional, the boat was comfortable with all the modern amenities and safety equipment needed and of course the whale sightings and activity was incredible. Our guide Jacque really made the trip extra special though, with his excellent commentary, deep knowledge of the marine life and enthusiasm. Special shout out to the captain and crew as well who continued to look for as many whales as possible throughout the whole trip. Will definitely book a tour with them again.

What a fantastic whale watching company! I highly recommend Southern Right if you’re looking for a whale company tour (and the best) they really do know their stuff and make sure you have a great time. The crew help point out all sea life and set a good vibe. The shack before you get on the boat is cute and sets the tone. Nice memorabilia inside the shack too. Please remember to take your anti sick pills! Even if you do get sick (like I did-but was at the front most of the time) it’s still 100% worth it, I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat. We saw a whale breach too!! We also saw a god bit of whales on our morning tour. Special thanks to Jo who helped us through the process to make sure we could make this magical trip. If we ever come back to Hermanus, we will certainly be back!

A well organised activity. Tea, fruit and cakes available on arrival at the jetty. Educational tour guide was fab, answers all questions on the wildlife. The seas were packed with sealion, penguins and dolphins. We saw 7 whales, Bryte and Southern Right Whale. Recommended to all.

Amazing dolphin encounter, literally dozens of them swimming with the boat. Very friendly crew. The close encounter with the Southern Right whales was brilliant.

Southern Right Charters is located at the The New Harbour, Harmanus. It is easy to find, and there is ample parking available. Make sure you book your trip by the respective charter in advance before showing up. We did an afternoon cruise, and got to see a Southern Rock Whales and her calf up close. Their spotters were very alert and it almost felt like they were communicating with the whales. conducted an informative class before the cruise, which makes the cruise a very very interesting treasure hunt. The film the entire interaction with the whale and her calf using a drone, and for a small extra charge you can get a copy of the video - great memories! The team at Southern Right Charters was extremely particular about safety!

Very good guide with a lot of passion for whales and their protection. On the Boat we had some front seats, when sitting on the side it is likely to get wet if it has some swell. In case you want to stay try or suffer quickly from sea sickness better stay inside at the rear of the boat. The organization overall was very smooth and efficient. I can really recommend it.

We went as a family of 4. 2 adults and 2 teenagers (13&15). The tour is very well managed and the skipper was nice & knowledgeable but easy going. The boat is good and safe. We got lucky and saw plenty.
