The people who are giving this restaurant such great reviews need to go to an actually good Mexican restaurant. This place is super standard, it’s expensive and the portions are extremely small. The quesadilla is a joke, the fajita has 3 tortilla wraps and a few pieces of beef for €25. Amsterdam food scene has no hope if people think this is great.

Great food and service. We got the tacos and a burrito, each came with rice, beans, sour cream, and guacamole. I recommend the spicy chicken burrito! Mexican food around Amsterdam can be unnecessarily expensive but this one is about €18 including the rice and beans and a good serving size, so it's more reasonable comparatively. The staff was nice and attentive too. We'll be back again!

We scarified ourselves so you don't need to try this place. I got the Chimichanga which is supposed to be a deep fried burrito but it was just a sad burrito from the grill. (EUR 17,50) My gf ordered the Carne Caldera which had almost no taste and spiciness. (EUR 20,50) It was poorly executed overall. You won't enjoy this place unless you get drunk from their Margarita pitchers which is just lemonade with a little tequila.

We tried this lovely Mexican restaurant, it was so delicious and tasty. Worth the experience we had some fajitas and chicken quesadillas which were so delicious. If you like Mexican food go there

Food: 4/5 ⭐️ - Enchilada: 5+/5 ⭐️ - Burrito: 5/5 ⭐️ - Taco: 4/5 ⭐️ - Nachos Sonora: 4/5 ⭐️ Price: 4/5 ⭐️ Service: 4/5 ⭐️ On my second visit to this establishment, I found that the ambiance and service continued to be fairly standard – nothing particularly noteworthy, but comfortable enough for a casual dining experience. The highlight here is unquestionably the food, which stands a notch above the ordinary. We started with the Nachos Sonora, which, while bursting with flavor, fell short in portion size, especially as a dish advertised for two. The toppings, too, were on the scantier side, which was a bit of a letdown. Moving on to the main course, the Combinacion Alfonso's was a mixed bag. The taco was average, failing to make much of an impression. However, the enchilada and burrito were a different story altogether – absolutely divine. These dishes alone make the restaurant worth visiting, elevating the overall culinary experience. So, while it doesn't quite hit the five-star mark for me, it's definitely a solid choice for good food. I'll surely be back, and I'd recommend giving it a try if you're in the mood for some tasty Mexican cuisine with a few standout dishes.

The service was quite fast and friendly. All of our questions regarding the menu were cleared quickly. The food was delicious as well. I would recommend to order the grand tortillas; meat was lovely. All in all a nice place to have some Mexican food for dinner in Amsterdam.

The best Mexican restaurant I’ve had the pleasure to eat at! Been coming here for years and the quality has never dropped. Fajitas are full of flavour and the chicken is tender and the cocktails are delicious! Friendly, warm atmosphere too.

A wonderful taste of Mexican after weeks of small town Northern Europe (visiting family). Good quantity. Great taste. We went twice in four days. Nice for dinner. Once for later evening snack. Best nachos ever. Not what you might expect with lots of meat and beans. We used a fork to eat the Nachos but would 10/10 do again.

Restaurant Review: Alfonso's Mexican & Grill I recently visited Alfonso's Mexican & Grill and was thoroughly impressed. The decor was charming, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food was exceptional, the dishes were bursting with flavor. The cocktails were also delicious, especially the strawberry Margarita. The staff provided top-notch service, ensuring a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend Alfonso's for a fantastic Mexican dining experience that won't disappoint.

If you know what authentic Mexican food tastes like, don’t come here! Mediocre Tex-Mex at best. We trusted the good reviews and were so disappointed! (I assume most people who wrote a review never had Mexican food before, otherwise I don’t understand). First big red flag, they classified “Desperados” as a Mexican beer 🤣 It’s actually French! Pretty sure most Mexicans who have never been to Europe don’t even know what it is. The Margarita I ordered tasted so bad I had to send it back. We ordered nachos as an appetizer and got a small plate (tortillas were round, not even the traditional triangle ones). I thought it was a rob for 9€! They don’t have soft shell tacos (only hard shell) and our waiter didn’t even know what Valentina sauce was (big red flag!) My enchiladas really had nothing special. We definitely won’t come back here!

Recently went to Alfonsos for dinner twice during a four day trip to Amsterdam! We live in Brooklyn, NY so we know good Mexican food. We got tacos and quesadilla with rice and beans. This place was really tasty and impressive, especially for being in the Netherlands! Highly recommend if you want something different from sweets, bread, and cheese while visiting Amsterdam.

Excellent fajitas. We ordered the upgraded steak option for 2 persons. It was enough for two parents and 11 yr old to share. Some here are complaining that it's not authentic Mexican. So what? It's a delicious meal. Service was quick and friendly.

Delicious dish and generous portions. The starters, however, lack refinement.

Good Mexican place with friendly staff and quick service. We’re from the US so our expectations for Mexican food in Amsterdam weren’t very high but I can happily say this restaurant provided what we were craving. The food wasn’t overly flavorful as is but it’s Mexican food so you just add hot sauce and all was good.

Really delicious and timely served - barely waited 10 min before getting the food. Exactly what we needed this Friday night.

Terrible experience. They are bringing you nachos to the table without asking you if you want them or not, they even renewed them and of course at the end they charged us two portions. Mediocre food, portions are small and it is super expensive for what you get. The environment is totally basic. In other words, bad.

Great service: waiter was very accommodating when we showed up near closing time, and very attentive throughout our meal. Generous food portions at fair prices. We had beef and chicken tacos which were really good (shell did not fall apart). A bit disappointed they did not have shrimp filing for the tacos. Overall pleasant experience.

Love the chimichangas here. It seems to be hard to find decent Mexican food in Amsterdam, but I keep going back to this place.

Absolutely delicious food, we ordered various dishes and each one was perfect. It’s been a very nice surprise, as we had no reservations, just came in an give it a shot. And it definitely worth it!

Very tasty place with reasonable prices and an amazing frozen mango Margherita 👌👌

Good food, polite staff, fast service. The restaurant didn't have outside sitting area, so maybe not the best choice for a hot summer day. If only the air conditioning was better and the music was a tiny bit louder/better quality to drown out the noise of people taking, the experience would have been great. I'd go back when it gets colder
