Overall taste is good. However, the plating is not that attractive, and the flavour is too salty. It seems that they are busy so the waitresses did not attend to us when we were trying to order something. The pastry became soggy in my salmon dish and doesn't taste fresh enough. Many room to improve for the dining-in section but it is a good bakery I guess.

Lovely almond croissants n coffee. Food is baked in the morning and then upon order heated in microwave n then oven/ pan. So some other bread breakfast items become very chewy.

Great cafe in a cute street. The food and price were really good. Can understand why this would be a favourite with locals. Had the curried scallop pie which was yum with great flaky pastry. My mate had the salmon bagel which had really good bread too (probably the best bagel dough I’ve had - crispy and not dense). Would revisit.

The duck sausage roll and the coffees were the highlight for me. I did have the scallop curry pie - I thought it was okay. The blueberry tart was good too. The staff were lovely. It is a nice boutique bakery.

The cafe seems to be loved by the locals. Quite a lot of customers mid morning. Came in for a piccolo coffee, a chocolate croissant and a chocolate eclair. They all tasted really good! Price for the three items comes to $15.10 which is on the higher end. For their coffee, I think they use a light roast for their beans so recommend a double shot for anyone who likes their coffee strong. They offered sweet and savoury pastries as well as freshly baked bread, hot sausage rolls and pies. Places with these sorts of selections are hard to come by these days. Just a note, there's different pricing for dine in and take away. From what I saw, depending on what you get it can be an extra $0.50-$1.5 if you choose to dine in.

Amazing! An institution. Best croissant I've ever had in my life! The prices were very affordable and the quality as well as customer service were both on point. Could hear one of the waiters singing as he served food, it was delightful!

I have family in Hobart who said I had to visit the bakery when in town and try their Tasmanian scallop pie, that it was the best in town, I gave it a go on Friday and it was amazing!. Lived up to the legend. Lovely food and lovely staff.

We wanted to try the famous scallop pie while in Tasmania and found this cute place while on the double decker bus. It's very quaint and small, like many of the other restaurants we have tried here in Tasmania. I love all of the decor and it fits in well with surrounding heritage homes. The curried scallop pie was really good. The crust was so nice and buttery and it came with a homemade ketchup that paired well together. We also tried the wallaby pepper pie. Again our first time trying wallaby! I would say it tastes similar to beef. It came in a very tasty thick sauce. For dessert we had the fruit tart with creme fraiche. The best one we have had so far! I loved the chocolate layer in between the fruit and the tart.

Nice coffee, nice staffs, nice pies, it’s near by Salamanca and wharf, lots of local people sit in and have brunch there. It is a good choice if you want to find a local cafe to enjoy some pies and tarts.

Had the lamb and rosemary pie & a hot latte. Coffee is good, not overly sour/acidic. Ordered to go and it was made extra hot too! Lamb and rosemary pie were great! Nicely flakey pastry dough, soft lamb, nice thick gravy. Overall well seasoned and flavours work! Served with tomato relish.

Wonderful place for brunch! We stopped by after recommendations from a friend and lobed the homemade pastries and the overall vibe of the place. We even picked up a couple of items for takeaway to share with friends. Would recommend others to drop by coffee some good coffee and delicious brunch.

We absolutely love this place! The food is always reliably delicious. Coffee is very good too. Just one criticism. The wait staff need better training. The menu is very extensive so please give us more than one minute to choose, and wait until we're both finished before trying to remove our plates! We will return.

Attractive smell of the baking in the night was captivating, and urged us to go the next morning. Was not disappointed, the buns are really good, and the staffs were lovely. Take away is cheaper than dine in (mostly $1 difference for cakes). And as the cashier said to me, this place never sleeps.

Best items here would be the fruit tarts ($9 for a single tart!) - When they’re fresh the butter pastry fresh light creme patisserie and juicy berries are refreshingly, homely yet luxuriously balanced together. ‘Today’ wasn’t one of those days; I went with a raspberry cream brioche bun for a change since the fruits in the fruit tarts looked dry. I’d like to know if there are other places in Hobart that serve similarly good (or better) fruit tarts at the same or more ‘competitive’ pricing!

The breakfast was delicious. The coffee could be better but it’s a bakery not a cafe ;) The roll was warm and delicious The frittata was fresh and also yummy - there was more avocado than almost necessary - not complaining just saying Overall well worth the walk

Their scallop pie was the best I had in Hobart. It was decently priced too. Their pear mascarpone tart is divine 😋. Returned to have the scallop pie and it was consistent. My wife tried duck, walnut and cranberry sausage roll - good portion and well priced, also delicious. l liked their watermelon juice more than pineapple one. We also had chocolate eclair - good size, yum 😊Overall, excellent food and reasonably priced.

Dropped by for coffee and pies for brunch. Would recommend the scallop pie - pastry was flakey, the filling was flavourful with a good balance of scallop and veggies (compared to Richmond Bakery). Lamb pie was also amazing. Great customer service and food came out quickly.

Amazing coffee... kept coming back for more! Brekkie was okay, nice enough, but the coffee 👌👌👌 Gets super busy, but the wait for a table still wasn't too bad.. 5/10 mins. I'll def be back next time I'm in Tas!

Local cafe that has a wide selection of bakery and pastries. Although the meat pie is not my favourite, the fillings, in general, are generous but on the dry side. I like it juicier. This is a personal preference. I like their crispy outside and soft inside croissants the most; the croissant is served warm, with Jam and a generous amount of Butter. We spent about AUD60++ for three adults and two kids for lunch.

Absolutely loved this place!! A beautiful and peaceful location and a walkable distance from Hobart City Centre & Salamanca Markets. Loved how picturesque this street is, especially under Mt Wellington - and the cafe even more so. Many rooms inside with plenty of seating, as well as out the front on a lovely day like this. Very good quality pastries and was in awe of the perfect & efficient service I received - the waitress for the day was very good, on-top of everything and very fast too. However I did feel slightly rushed, due to how fast the turnover was and the quantity of people who wanted to eat here for lunch. My coffee and pie came out straight away, but I didn't know which to have first and felt like I couldn't enjoy reading my book due to how many people came and went so quickly. The pie was delicious, however the meat was slightly on the dry side, but other than that it was perfect! Only downside is that this just felt like a cafe to tick off the list, rather than a place I can come to and enjoy regularly, but that's probably because I came on a Saturday during Salamanca markets for lunch.

A nice place to visit. We tried three different pies. All worth trying out if you love English version pies. Scallop pie are less creamier than the aussie version we find else where, but still good, depending on which you prefer. Wait staff are friendly too.

So not just another bakery!! Just walking in is sensory overload...the fresh breads, inspiring pies and pastries, deluxe patisserie and dessert items....how to decide when EVERYTHING looks, sounds and smells so good??? And the staff dont help at all when they say, with complete honesty, that its ALL good. Fair point! We opted for the Lamb and Rosemary Pie, only because the Scallop and Wallaby Pies were already sold out. No matter, our Lamb pie was AMAZING. Hero of the Day was definitely the Duck, Cranberry and Walnut sausage roll...WOW!!!! We also couldnt go past the Blueberry creme Patisserie Tart, but to be fair there were so many choices that narrowly missed out on being devoured. As an added bonus, I suggest taking your goodies around the corner to Arthur Circus, and enjoy the peacefulness of the quaint little park as you eat. Best Bakery in Tassie? Easily. Best Bakery in Oz? Gets my vote. Im already thinking about what to have next time... OK well this didnt take long to require an update. The lure of Tassies finest bakery was too strong so we managed to squeeze in a sneaky visit on the way to the airport. Let me say that Wallaby and blackberry most definitely go together, particularly when engulfed in magnificent pastry! Similarly Apple and Sage are wonderful accompaniments for Pork when rolled in pastry. My only question....do they ship to the mainland???

A top bakery for dining or takeaway. We visited twice, enjoying a scollop pie (slightly too much curry for my liking), lamb and rosemary sausage roll (beautiful pastry, but not enough flavour in the mince) and King Island beef pie (the best choice). Cakes are all very tasty. Huge selection. We worth a visit.
