Lovely and must go when in texel. Honestly speaking there isn’t a lot. But whatever is there is very nice and interesting. One can leave this marine zoo with a plethora of information and knowledge. Fish feeding and seal shows were quite interesting. Clean washrooms and a decent restaurant.

Informative, polite staff, great location within the stunning dunes of Texel! Nevertheless, feeding the fishes, and also the seals while providing interesting information only in dutch while having more than half (maybe even more) of the visitors from other European countries is somehow irritating & strange… Don‘t forget to take the short but awesome walk through the dunes which is only accessible where the seals are located!

Every time I visit Ecomare I'm having a good time. Their expositions about the sea and local wildlife are educational and fun and the animals they have on display are always nice to see. They have animals who live in the sea surrounding the island, like seals, seebirds and fish. The have species you don't see in other zoo's like Ringed seal and Harbor porpoise (which can be seen under water). During feeding hours the caretakers give information about the animals. A downside is that the exhibits for the seals and porpoise are a little bit small. They also have a rescue center for birds and seal which you can also visit. Entrance to the park is €13,75 (2020) and in my opinion that is not a lot for what you get!

Ecomare is one of the first animal rescue centre. Beautiful centre to view the seals. Tickets are little bit expensive. Has in-house dining options. Very informative for adults and kids! We had a good time there during visit to Texel!

Beautiful place worth supporting ! Go there and leave some for the animal. The inside area is designed to teach interactively and it works fantastic. Kids and adults will learn here.

It is a MUST place in Texel. Loved the scene, the information around it, also I was lucky to see the seal and bird feeding (of course the seal feeding is being told, but the baby bird feeding was just accidentally catched as by walked by when I saw someone and then started to feed the bird). Many information about the seals placed in the pools. In one part lucky but the other had I can not see but only the permanent seals, which are also like around 10 or bit more. There are also birds and baby birds too. The closi time is a bit annoying (majority places in the Netherlands are closes the same) 5 pm, which is so bad as the sun in summertimes goes down around midnight. So they could hve be open a bit longer. The place is interesting to have a deep insights. Also, to bike there and around the island is require more time. I would recommend to stay overnight on the island, or nearby.

What an incredible place Ecomare Texel is for families. From the moment we stepped inside, our kids were enthralled by the captivating exhibits that showcased the beauty and importance of marine life. The highlight for them was undoubtedly the seal rehabilitation center. Witnessing the dedicated team caring for injured seals left a lasting impression and sparked conversations about animal conservation that continued long after our visit. The hands-on activities and displays made learning about marine ecology so much fun. We can't recommend Ecomare Texel enough - it's a fantastic way to spend quality time with your children while nurturing their love for the environment.

(Translated by Google) Interactive, my son (7) couldn't get enough. My daughter (9) went through it faster. Nice structure of the food chain and the habitat of the seal in one room. The other room was a lot about pollution and sustainability. Outside was great, but that was also because I did not know that we could see the collected animals. I thought it was well worth it!

Great place to go if your visiting the island. I went with my girlfriend and we had a lovely time seeing all the seals and walking around the nature reserve connected to Ecomare. It's a place advertised for families with kids but a worthwhile place to visit if your traveling alone or with some one.

  • 4/5 Ishanka H. 2 years ago on Google
This is a conservatory for the seals. You get to learn all about seals and most of the sea creatures found in the wadden sea. This is more of a museum and not an aquarium. So you don't find a lot of fish varieties here. It's definitely a great place for the kids to learn about sea animals.

Regrettably the weather truly did not help, however albeit the attraction seem to offer plenty of information on see life in the area it is aimed at the younger generation. At the tills the POS did not work with foreign cards. Most of the explanation is in Dutch and no English so it may be difficult to decipher. Overall is good but could better if open to other languages and update the POS.

Always a fun place to explore. Much information is provided, seeing the animals up close outside is nice. They build a small 1km hike outside which was nice. Keeping the 1.5m is challanging with many kids running around. Mind the closing time, you can easily spend 1.5 hours here if you’re interested.

This is a very nice and educative place to go. Al information is in Dutch, German and English. It is no problem to bring your children because there is enough to see push and try for them. You have a lot of interactieve material.

Best part is the seals outside and the aquarium. You can see this place in 1- 1 1/2 hour which was great as we had to catch the last ferry back to Den Helder at 16:00.

it was really nice! there are a ton of seal shelters, there're fishtanks, and a lot to learn about the history of seals and other sea animals in the waddensea and north sea.

Ecomare is just a great place to spend many hours. Last year (2021) I adopted seal "Nylon". He was in a very bad condition but he survived due to the great care of the Ecomare hero's. I have been to Ecomare many times to visit him and feed him fish. And I really got attached to my newest friend! Being there was also a great way to learn more about seals and other sea life, but also about birds. When I set Nylon free after his recovery he went back into the sea with lighting speed! I will probably never see him again, but I am sure he is fine! On Ecomare's website you can search for "Nylon" and you will see him (and me also). I should also not forget to mention all the GREAT people of Ecomare again, they are really hero's! To help them save as many seals and birds as they can please donate some money, buy a bucket of fish (see the website how to achieve this) or just go to them and have a wonderful time and learn a lot! Please note that normally no one is allowed to feed them except Ecomare's people. Just to avoid disappointment I have to mention this.

Beautiful experience! We got to see a lot about the seals and the sea chain food, it’s really interesting and a good place to take the kids. Also very friendly staff :)

  • 5/5 Ariya B. 2 years ago on Google
The exhibition was a bit unclear and not too informative but the rescued and recovering animals were amazing! I love this initiative. It was the first sustainable aqua marine museum I have ever been too and I’d absolutely go again. Sadly a bit pricey but it’s for a good cause! I genuinely had the best time with my dad here, thank you so much for this beautiful day:)

For only 15€ you can enjoy of a nice sea museum and see the beautiful seals sanctuary. If you come to texel, definitely you have to visit this wonderful place. in this sanctuary the seals are rehabilitated to be returned to the sea in the future. Very educational experience

  • 4/5 Maurits B. 1 year ago on Google
Nice museum with nature as its subject. Several rooms with amazing displays (skeletons of a whale, orca seals.) But most visitors come for the seals (which are cute as ...fill in the blank.. )

  • 4/5 Pranav G. 1 year ago on Google
It is a nice place and must visit when in Texel You get to meet the seals 🦭 and some nice views with the sand dunes It also has a small interactive museum at the start of it which is fun to explore especially for the kids There is a restaurant inside as well with pretty decent food and prices The entry cost for an adult is around 14 euros and 10 euros for kids (there is no student discount by the way)

  • 4/5 Belinda K. 1 year ago on Google
Dedicated to the history and the marine life in and around the intertidal Wadden Sea, Ecomare is also an active seal rehabilitation and conservancy centre. It offers a unique aquarium experience that does well to educate and create awareness of this delicate North Sea environment. An interesting and interactive outing for both adults and children.

Good for a visit but I think a bit too expensive for what they offer. There are better aquariums but perhaps it could be my personal view. The seal feeding show was good.

  • 5/5 Beda L. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely place for young and old people. We really enjoyed the time there. The presentation in the whale room was very interesting as well and the speaker was very friendly. You should take care that they charge you the right amount for the tickets because under 26 you pay a lower price. In our case we thought we looked young enough, but we were charged with the higher price without even been asked for our ages before, but after telling the employee there was no problem anymore.

No dogs were allowed so we didn't go in together. Lovely shop and outside decor. There is a parking further up the road which is right by the beach.

  • 1/5 Chienwen C. 4 years ago on Google
I really don't like this place. It was too croweded so o can only see a lot of human head. The shows inside are all in Dutch. So if you don't know Dutch , you may probably feel boring because nothing to see when the explain something. The ticket is also overpriced. Don't know why there are lot of good ratings.

As close as it gets to seeing seals... and actually happy ones too. From pups to adults, and grey seals too, even a couple of porpoises, which you can view from the aquarium and from above. Feeding times vary so those are extra popular times. Do note. Book early, and get tickets online. Showed up here not knowing we needed tickets and bookings to enter. Super good staff too!

Small but interesting spot to learn about the wild sealife around the area. It was raining heavily though so couldn't appreciate the outdoor areas as much as we wanted. Cool to hear about the seal rescue program.
