Location is great and staff are trying really hard. The hotel is old. They have issues with laundry, food shortages (no pasta, no potatoes, no more than one choice of fish usually, no red wine), no paper napkins. To get eggs, pancakes in the morning you have to stand in line for 30 min. Bed sheets and towels don't feel clean after one use. The restaurant is incredibly dirty. All tables, chairs, doors are slimy and covered with dirt and grease. The hotel was overcrowded and they had to lock the restaurant at dinner time and people had to wait outside, because there were no free tables. I don't recommend this hotel if you have small children. If you are an adult and you are ok with eating rice 2x a day for 7 days, you should probably go there.

I DO NOT REOCMMEND this resort! I have been to many resorts over the years and this is the worst I have ever been to!! There were many things wrong with the resort and the service! To start with, when I entered my room, there was a foul smell and I noticed there was pee in the toilet...it was not working and it didn't work for 4 days! There was no water and I couldn't take a shower either after traveling for more than 24 hours! The water kept running out constantly during the day! The following things were wrong in my room and others: - 5 light bulbs not working - stand-up lamp in the corner not working - safe didn't work - back screen door/window didn't lock and had to be fixed twice - iron had burnt stuff stuck to the bottom and would have wrecked my clothes if I used it - there was a coffee machine with 2 cups in the room but no coffee to make it and nothing else - no toilet paper in the public washrooms - all the outdoor lights that led to the path to the rooms were all burnt out and it was extremely dark to see the path and which time I had to use the flashlight on my phone to find my room - constant lack of food and there was never food at the Snack Bar that was opened 24 hours - only toast and butter and sometimes not even coffee - the stands where they prepare the food in front of you like beef, chicken, pork, fish, etc., had long-waiting line ups and one day I waited over 45 minutes just to get a piece of chicken!

What a horrible experience. We took an emergency trip to this resort to deal with a family member who got sick while there. Getting clear and consistent information from hotel and medical staff was very challenging. We felt like we were getting the runaround from everyone. NO ONE speaks English which is inconceivable given the number of Canadian vacationers on the property. Besides the medical circumstances we had to deal with, the hotel is a 2.5 star, at best. The food was terrible (note the birds eating right off of the buffet dishes). The property is very dated and too big and quite a hike to walk to the beach. If you are aging and have mobility issues and/or have pre existing health conditions, avoid this resort (and Holguin) at all costs. The hospital in Holguin is the worst hospital you can ever imagine and pray you don't need an ambulance. There is only 1 in the entire region (when it's not broken down). Stay away!

One of the managers in the lobby (Rafael/Raphael) was amazing- so helpful and friendly. Everything after was downhill. The room was dirty, the shower was not functional and fludded the entire bathroom out to the room. The staff didn’t seem to care about their service or their approachability unless you were holding money. The food at the buffet was pretty good, the pool was full of screaming kids splashing you. The 24h snack bar only had 2 options at night- pizza or pasta and too many people for them to tend to. Poor variety in the bar, they almost never had the ingredients for cockails - except the cigar bar, which was a pleasant surprise but the most uncomfortable seating arrangement ever. Overall- would not return, ever.

❤️❤️CUBA HEAVEN❤️❤️ (BLAU COSTE VERDE HOTEL) 1 OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES I'VE HAD THE GOOD FORTUNE OF VISITING. THE CUBAN PEOPLE ARE 100% THE REASON. NEVER HAVE I SEEN MORE HARD WORKING, FRIENDLY, HELPFUL, CHEERFUL & TALENTED PEOPLE ANYWHERE ELSE. THEY MAKE THIS HOTEL BLISSFUL & YOU WILL ALWAYS WANT TO GO BACK. WE'RE KEEPING EVERYTHING CROSSED FOR A RETURN THIS YEAR 💜💜💜

The resort itself is beautiful and the waiters are friendly. The food is very bland and they offered the same foods almost every day. There was ridiculous lines for any freshly cooked foods so we never really got to try that. The reservation restaurants were okay but still bland. The mosquitoes at this resort were totally out of hand. I couldn’t come out of my room at night, I’m sure it’s because of the swamp they have on site (i wasn’t aware of this prior to booking). The room is very out dated and old. I chose a king bed but they squished two double beds together to make it a king.. ridiculous. ALOT of Cuban citizens from Cuba stay here. It wasn’t an issue but there was barely anyone who actually spoke English. Therefor, my wife and I were very bored. Overall, I didn’t enjoy my stay at all and I will not be visiting Cuba ever again. If you enjoy the Dominican or Jamaica and wanted a cheap getaway.. Playa costa verde is NOT the answer.

Definitely my last trip to Cuba in this lifetime. Beach was good. The mattresses were too soft and completely destroyed my back. The biggest issue was with food. The staff at the grill stations are incompetent and continued to not follow directions and undercooked the meat. I got very sick and last 4 days I had to stay in my room. Had to do a 36 hour water only fast and suffer because they destroyed my GI system, even after I tipped them and requested special treatment with the food. If you have dietary restrictions or sensitive stomach, Cuba definitely isn't a place to go. They need to have less junk food and more variety. Horrible choice of fresh vegetables.

Most pleasant stay. The staff and Guest Service were all charming, smiling and very cooperative. Although the food was not always varied, I found my fill. Very hot weather, only sunny and humid so lots of sunscreen and aloe vera to soothe sunburns. The beach and the sea are beautiful and the white sand is soft for the feet. You will not be disappointed (corals, snorkeling, etc.). Good entertainment for the kids too. For the price I paid, I was very satisfied overall. Internet, however, deficient on some occasions.

Amazing hotel. Amazing workers. The beach is amazing. It has been a really nice experience to spend time here. It is very clean and people are careful and wear masks. I am very happy to have spent my vacation here! Hopefully, I can be back soon.

Excelent hotel, I have been at this resort so many times and I have to say that I am always pleased with the place. Rooms need to be updated but they are always clean. Food at the buffet restauarant is great even for the season and the circunstances of the country. On the bars you can have lot of choices of drinks and mainly the nice Piña Coladas. Activities at the pool so funny and the entertainment team is great. Me and my friends will be back soon at this place cause I love it every time more.Nice work PCV

First of all the front desk staff were great. Juan, the front desk manager, was amazing and took care of our group of 4. Food was good plenty to choose from. If you're looking for food that is similar to Mexico or Jamaica, then pay the 3k+ per person and get better food and options. There were some shortages, but the resort did a great job with what they had and tried to change up every day. Omar at the pool Cabana bar was fantastic. He provided great service and made good drinks, mostly cuban Rum. Like others say rooms are dated but worked fine for all of us, I'm not spending much time in my room, I'm in Cuba. The beach was fantastic, and snorkeling was amazing. There's a lot of fish right in front and to the right of the dive center dock. There were a lot of rude people treating the workers poorly, 1 person was complaining because they yolk of their egg broke when it was being cooked, or others trying to jump ahead in line because they don't want to wait. These workers are trying to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Being disrespectful towards them does not help others after you, nor will it help you when you are back at the station next time. Remember when revieing these ratings that the people providing negative reviews could be these rude people. There is an amazing coffee bar throughout the resort with the best cappacionos. Overall, it was a fantastic visit, and we all can't wait to return only next time for 2 weeks. I spoke to a lot of workers about tips, keep Canadian or American dollars for tips to not change to Cuban money. The banks there will not take loonies or toonies, so you can change bigger bills with cleaning staff or bars. Try not to put a crease in your bills or give bills that are written on or torn. Their banks will not take those bills.

Loved my week at this resort. Food was good and it is impressive how the chefs are able to make numerous different meals with limited ingredients. Cuban and Japanese restaurants were also great. Stunning beach, clean hotel and wonderful service. I highly recommend bringing bug spray (sand mosquitoes are very present). Will definitely be returning!

Wow, where to start! I travelled solo in mid-December 2022, and had exactly the relaxing, nourishing vacation that I had wanted- and more! I found the staff to be incredible - so friendly, genuine, generous, and helpful. Big shout out to (among others!) Samara in housekeeping who took such good care of me, Jesus at the pool bar who had us all laughing all day, and the lovely ladies at the breakfast and lunch buffets. I didn't catch their names, by bad, something like Zownie and her colleague. It was my first time there, but I could see the relationships they had built with returning guests, and they truly went above and beyond. The resort itself was fabulous - the grounds and gardens are stunning, and it's so cool to see them cut down the coconuts for drinks! The beach is gorgeous - idyllic. I took a snorkel and water shoes, and would recommend both to be able to swim out a little and hang out in the water. The water is super clear and warm, and lots of fish and things to see! I loved the pool- huge and beautiful, and clean, with a great bar. I sometimes found the music a little loud lol, but there was lots of fun or chill time to be had. I participated in Aqua Gymnastics daily and it was sooooo much fun, I looked forward to it each morning! I am not a picky eater, and I found the food to be great. Lots of variety, I particularly loved the Cuban food stations. Lots made to order if desired, and the a la cartes were nice- I loved the Japanese. The snack bar was also a great spot for pizza and sandwiches in a low key setting, and we had SO much fun watching the World Cup final there. As a woman traveling solo, I felt super safe, and was lucky to have other awesome guests who were staying there when I did- lovely friendly people, everyone I met had such positive energy. I can't wait to return- I cannot describe how lovely the vibe was. Thank you for everything, Playa Costa Verde! Hope to see you again soon :)- update, have booked a return trip in March. Hasta luego!

I've been many times to Cuba, and when I bought this trip I did not have high expectations. But i was pleasently surprised on arrival. Not much negative things I can say , especially for the price I've paid. Anyway the place is cozy , food is really eatable and the most important for me the rooms did not have the musky smell like all the other places I've visited in Cuba

The beach is great, white sand, clear water, activities (kayak, catamaran, beach volleyball), snorkelling, colourful fishes. The room: - large size, - small ants in the bed (they bite and cause burning sensations), - plenty mosquitoes, - occasional water outage, - leaky bathroom (changed the room, thank you), - bathrooms (basin, tab, surfaces) can benefit from a more thorough cleaning after previous guests. Buffet: It is sufficient and healthy food selection. Plates had signs of not being fully washed, occasionally. Cigars: You will not find them at the hotel or market. The closest official cigar shop is at another hotel nearby (Playa Pesquero). You can enjoy your cigars at the cigar bar (airconditioned and no mosquitos). The airport has nothing, unfortunately (only highly speculative prices of $400 for a pack of minis). Internet: WIFI is available, free. You get a personalized login/password that works for 5 hrs and requires extension after that. Checkout: The checkout time is noon (12 pm). If you want to stay longer (till 4 pm max), the additional charge is rather steep US $8-$9 per person per hour. We ended up paying almost US $70 for the extension till 4 pm for two. Overall atmosphere is very pleasant. We fall in love with Cuba and thinking about coming back. Special thanks to the entertainment team for the volleyball sessions :)

The staff make this place bearable. The mature gentleman with light eyes and mature lady with glasses and blonde hair at front desk are amazing! Dami, Lucy, Yasimena, and Dunia are best; they were like mothers and aunts to me. Now to the negatives. The food was not flavorful and the walks to the pool, beach, lobby, etc. are very long. Lastly, do not trust anyone offering anything outside of the hotel. There is one particular person named Larazo Brown (if that's even his name). He sells fake rum and will begs. Say clear of him.

Very great service, 5-5 for everything. We love the beach, the pools, the activities. Great place for kids, our kids everyday have had actvities with the staff. Me and my husband just got married here, very pleased with the staff and customer service. If you have any recommandations or problems, please speak to Joce Altagracia in the hotel, very caring adviser. Recommanded 100%

Here right now and here for two weeks. Water and electricity failures but doesn’t affect the hotel and drinking water. Hôtel accepts locals now so many locals which definitely outnumber tourists ( Quebec, Canada, italia, Germany, Francia ) which I feel is good to learn more from the people. Food average, quiet rooms but no internet in rooms (positive to disconnect). The people are hungry and trying to work hard, not easy over here. Behind the smiles and « mi amor » lies a hidden truth of poverty and communism. Black market and underground slowly taken over. Always felt secure in beach and outside complex. Would recommend for quiet trip with kids.

Just returned from 2 wks at this beautiful resort. I have been to Cuba 12 times and this resort was one of the best. Excellent service and great staff. Food was par for Cuba. We are planning to go back here in the summer. I highly recommend this resort. No problems at all.

I myself was one that after our last adventure to Cuba had enough. However this resort and staff has changed mind, for the money spent this place was well worth the money and almost a hidden gem in a sense. We met lots of guest that had been here several times (one couples 6th) and say that before all craziness this was an even better place. Everyone was so happy and helpful. The food was above the Cuban standard and the à la carte were nice, my family enjoyed the Cuban and Japanese. The buffet considering supply issues was great with a good selection and that chocolate ice cream..... The only negatives overall I'd say is the supply of certain things such as wines and liquors, buffet main dishes being lack of a variety and selection in the snack bar it's either ham and cheese or ham and cheese after the first few orders get the choice. Keep in mind that these are not necessarily in the control of the resort. And the rooms were about what you'd expect from a 20+ year old resort the doors beat up and washrooms a little out dated. Bring a travel plug and some extra soaps and toiletries. Would I go here again? Yes and I believe this place is a great value for your dollar. If your are traveling to anywhere in the Caribbean keep in mind that every little bit you can spare will help as most of these places have been hit by lack of tourism and supply issues for two years.

We love this place a lot, the food is ok, the Japanese Restaurant is No for us, the Cuban restaurant is good. The staff are awesome the only thing I am not happy with is that the US currency price tag in the gift shop and the front desk should have more info about tours and what is going on everyday. We had to find out everything on our own on our first and second day. We had to walk far to find our room as we are just pointed in a direction and then we realized the place was huge and it was dark luckily there was a guy driving some kind a golf cart and showed us where exactly our room is ( I was not very happy as I am also hungry) But with everything that is negative we went home happy and we will go back again! 😊 LOWER YOUR EXPECTATION …

Hello. This resort was amazing with plenty of good food and activities. Staff are all very friendly and work hard to make sure that each one has a good time. Spatially I enjoy food. A lot of local fruits and vegetable with is organic/pesticide free. Everyday variety of sea food such as different kind of fish, shrimp, calamari, octopus, and others. It was Lobster dinner for everybody on Friday. All meals prepared delicious by professionals sheaf from Dominican republic. I highly recommended this resort. Regards, Svitlana Nikonorova

It´s a small hotel which makes everything accessible and very close. The beach is beautiful and the resort cleanliness is impeccable. The staff are very friendly and professional. My family and I especially thank Yanis from the commercial area for helping us with our request. We are sure to return for Christmas!! We can't wait to return. Thanks to the PCV family.
