Have on and off dined there for about 20 years. It used to offer many good dishes at good prices. Now it’s another story. Food quality not as good as before but most dishes cost HK$150-200. It has priced itself out of the market. Going for the vibe or the drunken “party” in late hours once in awhile may be nice. If you are not drunk enough, you may find it quite dodgy though. Anyway, a place for the so-called “collective memory”, about how free and ecstatic HK ppl used to be. It’s probably a place just to forget ourselves in today’s HK.

First time to be here after they moved. This is the clean version of dai pai don 大排檔 . It can be quite noisy but the vibe is good. All the food we ordered was amazing!! could tell that they made the dishes with lots of small details, appreciated! Personally loved the crab in winey soup and the prawn toast! Better to come in a big group to try more different dishes.

Old Hong Kong style dining place in the cooked food market located above a wet market, with a wide variety of seafood, meats, poultry and vegetable dishes. Some of the seafood options are fresh from the tank. Food are nice and in very generous portion, I think it would be better if you come in a group. At the end of the meal, free sweet soup were offered. Unlike general cooked food markets, Tung Po was surprisingly clean and hygienic, the staffs were also very friendly and lovely despite how busy it was. Definitely recommend advanced booking, but queueing was not taking too long anyway. We were unfortunately sitting close to a table of very rude people, one of the diners repeatedly opening the beer bottle towards our direction and had the beer caps flipped to us deliberately multiple times and see if he could hit someone on purpose. That guy was simply disgusting with zero manner. Of course this was at no fault of the restaurant but the quality of people, so it didn’t affect my rating. But it is afterall a busy restaurant so I would affect your experience. If you sit to a normal or even a fun table, it could be as lively as a party.

local cantonese food in the cooked food market. You come here for the local vibe/experience and have a beer with your friends. The staff was unexpectedly friendly and helpful (which you find it normally in these canto restaurants). If the boss was there, he would come and chat to every table and showing you how to use a chopstick to open a beer. So make sure you stay till the end. Food was okay overall. Nothing super special as you dont really come here for the food however you will be paying around 400-500$ per person if you come with a big group and order seafoods.

I have been to Tung Po many years ago and was happy to visit here again. There were 10 of us, and the restaurant did a good job arranging two tables for us close to each other. They also ensured the dishes were divided into two portions to put on two tables. The staff was exceptionally professional when I asked about the portion of food. For example, I asked him if I should order a whole chicken or half chicken, and he suggested we ordered half chick, as we have also called other dishes. We ordered several dishes and loved each one of them. Although the fried tofu is different from what we expected, it's ok. The signature chicken is our favorite among them. No wonder it's the signature!!! It's a great dinner, and it's also a good place for friends gathering. I also like we can make reservations, which makes things much more manageable.

Being introduced to this fantastic local eatery by a HK local is a prerequisite. Then, choosing the best dishes and whatever the chef recommends will be a most rewarding experience. The boss owner has a very special trick of opening a bottle of Blue Nun beer with a chopstick and his right heel - hopefully google will allow me to post the short video clip

One of the best place to visit to see how the locals spend their evening. Food was amazing and I enjoyed the counter with uncles serving food and drinks. I learned a trick of opening a beer bottle with a chop stick. Amazing evening. Strongly recommended to spend one evening here.

It is a popular market restaurant offering cantonese crusine. The food quality was good, freshly cooked.

Truly the best place to enjoy Hong Kong authentic food with excellent atmosphere. Music and dance starts at late night, when everyone drunk. A really good place to build friendship with real fun! Hundreds of dishes could be selected from the menu, and many of them are rarely found elsewhere. Highly recommended!

Finally got to return to my old stomping ground and it didn’t disappoint! My favourites are 風沙雞, 黃金蝦,wasabi 黃瓜 and 豉油皇炒麵. All the dishes were yummy and the Harbin beer taste great as well! Will definitely come back with a larger group to try more dishes next time!

An eatery serving wonderfully fresh seafood and vegetables. Located in a wet market without AC, it's advisable to go there only in the cooler months. The atmosphere is definitely "casual", just remember that you are here for the food! And what food it is! We had a great Green Salad, Fish Head Soup, Fried Oysters, and a small Steam Grouper. Everything is just superbly cook and delicious. Too bad Hong Kong is in the shape it's in today, wonder when I can get back to taste this food again... Oh, forgot in include an amusing thing about this restaurant: We ordered a large bottle of the local San Miguel beer to go with the food. The waiter arrived at the table with the bottle and 2 rice bowls, pouring the beer into the rice bowls and serving it to us. We poured out the water in our glasses and poured the been into the glasses. When we had almost emptied our glasses, the waiter came over and pour the rest of the beer back into the rice bowls and added extra beer from the bottle into the rice bowls and again served it to us. I guess drinking beer from a rice bowl allows you to quaff more freely, and is a local custom at this restaurant. So we left the beer in the rice bowls for the rest of the evening!

Traditonal Hong Kong style restaurant focusing main dishes and seafood, famous for its bowl used for beer drinking, the atmosphere is lively (and noisy too). You can notice the food is cooked with heart and they are quite nice. However the pricing is far above other restaurants serving similar food.

Very noisy but good for experiencing the atmosphere. The food was nice especially the salted egg shrimp dish. Note payment is only in cash

Go with friends… order anything … enjoy the atmosphere… have a beer in a bowl and dance with the owner. Good was good but I think it’s over priced. We paid around 650HKD for 1/2 chicken, fat belly fired rice, stir fried veg and 2 beers. Nothing was amazing taste wise but atmosphere was great.

Food was an absolute bomb with plenty of wok hei and full of aroma. Though expensive, the quality is represented in the price. The prawn fan xi was my absolute favourite, bursting with the umami of shrimp in every bite and the large sized prawns were fresh and perfectly cooked. The roast chicken was definitely of the good quality corn fed variety, and had very crispy skin while still maintaining meat that is tender. The fried rice has every grain coated with flavour and they do not skimp on the ingredients.

Hands down, fabulous food 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 the umami was great, wasn’t too salty or oily and awesome neighbourhood atmosphere. Only feedback is to update the receipt as it is quite confusing to understand the charges until I dive into the details from the QR code on the receipt. By the way, the waiting staffs are super friendly and kudos to you 🍻 🎉 Can’t wait for you to get the liquor 🥃 license soon so we can 🍻 the traditional way 🥣😁😁😁

Dimsum for breakfast is always a good idea. Love the selection in the menu and prompt service. The setting gives a vibe of nostalgia with food that is authentic to its form.

A long-standing dai pa dong-style Hong Kong restaurant used to tuck into a wet market. They has moved to a new location in Wanchai since November 2022. The new venue is far cleaner than before. The signature dishes were still alright. Good for gathering with foodies that love dai pa dong stir-fried or local Hong Kong dishes. Food taste: 8/10 Ambience or environment: 8/10 Pricing: 7/10

Food is pretty good but way too expensive, probably more suitable for big groups. It is really noisy in there, typical Hong Kong vibes my friend says. The dishes we tried are nice.

Table was booked one day in advance n only had one slot left at 6.30pm. Atmosphere was your typical da pai dong with lots of rowdy guests, retro disco songs n good food. Chicken and 马友 fish was the highlight.

Apr 23: we reserved table for 12 one day before. The location is easy to access. Car park nearby. Price is at medium level. Place is clean. Our table was under the TV and speakers, a bit louder. The toilet is clean but one toilet only. Always need line up. Drinks list is short, especially we have kids, no choice for kids (only soft drinks and beers). Tofu with herbs were home-made. I think it was special, but no a signature dish. The soup was good. Fried fish was good too. No fishy smell. Vegetables were ok. Kids love the spaghetti much. The restaurant was expelled by the old landlord. It was hard to find a new location. Happy to see that they have restarted their business from CONNECT+ building.

Friendly service for HK standard. Delicious food. Fun atmosphere. Lucky to be seated right away. Somewhat expensive but can repeat. Recommend to come in group.

Nice place for seafood that is not too far from downtown. Price is reasonable (160-200hkd/dish). Ingredient is fresh and food is tasty! As it s crowded during prime time, recommended to visit before 6.30p to secure your seats.

As soon as the doors of the lift open you can feel the hustle and bustle vibes right away. Waiters are very busy and have a quirky sense of humor. The food was ok, just a bit expensive. Dishes come as they are ready, so expect to wait long time. Portions can be normal or oversized. Up to the chef, I guess.

If you are tourists and want to try local foods, this is the place. But don't expect you can sit comfortably.
