Dining time/date๏ผš18:30 July 21st 2023 Food: Honestly for a Micheline 1 star the course lacked creativity. While all the ingredients were fresh, they were simply put together nicely, demonstrated little culinary technique nor innovative combination/flavour. Also for the price of 2K per person, the ingredients used were not matched to the charge. I have had less costly 1 Micheline star meals that surprised me in ingredients/flavour combinations. As you can also see from the picture, the presentation for 3/7 dishes in a a row were repeated in that they came to pour the sauce at table. First time - fancy, 2nd time err ok, 3rd time boring. Service: Few failing points 1. the waitress instead of trying, always give a upfront โ€œNoโ€ any anything - even on dietary requirement. The degustation had a half-lobster, which one of my colleague is allergic to, I am amazed that her initial response was โ€œno we cannot swapโ€. After we press it, she then checked with the chef and came back advising โ€œitโ€™s 4 of you, therefore must 2 swap to fishโ€ that was it, without explaining why it has to be two, then we later figured out ourselves, itโ€™s 1 lobster get split to half, therefore, 2 diner have to have fish. 2. As we progress to dessert, she came again advising us that she has to serve all dessert dishes together as we must return the table at 8:30 (we sat down at 6:30). 1. Time limit was never communicated during reservation nor stated on the confirmation. 2. This time limit was also never communicated as we came in. 3. I have not heard any Micheline restaurant that imposes such time limit for โ€œdegustation courseโ€ We told her we were never informed upfront and can we have the table any longer, again her response was a upfront โ€œNOโ€ 3. The duty manger (who is perhaps 185) came and stand next to our table at 8:30 while we were still carrying our conversation. We had to stop our conversation to allow him a window to speak, he asked โ€œhow was everything โ€ we gave him the feedback reflecting our experience. He continued to stand there not saying a thing. We therefore ask โ€œis there anything more or you want the table back?โ€ He then said โ€œI just wanted to hear your feedback, you can stayโ€ - but didnโ€™t we already gave you the feedback? NB. The manager discounted two meals on good will as a compensation. Environment: Overall is chic and trendy with nice ambient. But the table we sat - first table next to the entrance, their staff kept walking around our table to get access their storage/glassware through a curtin. Very distracting lack of privacy.

Dinner here started on a bad note - despite us pre-booking the menu and arriving on time, it took 45 minutes for them to start serving it. Luckily the bread eventually arrived after 35 mins to take the edge off our hunger :-) The food itself had some moments of inspiration: the kinmedai with cassoulet was both technically impressive and packed with flavour, while the asparagus tart with aged comte combined perfect pastry work with a delicate and delicious cheesy filling. Amongst the desserts, the gateau marjolaine was heavenly. Unfortunately what will be more memorable were the dishes where the menu went off the rails a bit - in particular, the chicken ballotine was rubbery and plain, and the cervelas en brioche a bit too reminiscient of tinned spam for our liking. I tried the standard wine pairing, and it was well worth the money. The sommelier has made excellent choices - not only were the wines delicious, but he often had some small interesting story about them. Thanks also for the cheeky topup he gave me when he saw that we were still waiting for the kitchen to send us some food!

I had an amazing experience dining here. Not only was the food great, but the service was excellent. I cannot explain how wonderful they treated me and my friends. The best part were the giant wine bottles! I donโ€™t consider myself to have much class, but because the sommelier explained everything with a French accent, I now have a greater appreciation for wine ! The chef also came out to speak with us after dinner. Again, experience was 10/10!

We had the chef's choice tasting menu. Every course was good but the roast chicken was a surprise standout. Never thought chicken can be so good. 852 9720 9535

The best meal i've had in HK. One star from Michellin makes this restaurant even underrated. Absolutely deserves better than one star. Foods were all straightforward with a huge impacts yet complex with a serious depth of each taste. Could feel the stubbornness in a good way of the chef from mise en place to quality of doneness of the dishes. +) fantastic Japanese touch for the Special Saba dish for the Black series! ๐Ÿฅฐ Huge appreciation for every single team members of BELON. Thanks for taking care of us!

This slightly eccentric Asian version of bistro food hits all the right notes, headlined by a succulent version of the French roasted chicken (served with a memorable pea side) and led off by various fusion seafood appetizers. Thoughtful sommelier and the usual young, enthusiastic Black Sheep serving staff. Why not 2 stars next time?

Somehow difficult to find the exact location but we had a great welcome, service and food despite our complaints about the weather and the location. The decor is beautiful and the ambiance is nice. My first time visit with my friends and we all loved it. The only complaint is to maybe have it easier to locate.

Great French cooking with a wide selection of fine wines. However, I preferred their ร  la carte menu when I came for dinner last time, though it was considerably more expensive.

First of all, excellent foods๐Ÿ‘! We totally enjoyed them.๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹ Reasons for 4 stars are: ~We were early and was received with a not so ready for us reception. Except Jean Baptist, hope I got his name right, save our "not so welcome to be early" feeling. ~Deco and ambience do not live up to the pricing standards. ~Wanted to pair our wines and were offered at 2 price points of 900+ and 1400+. When asked for more details, the answer was depending on the menu the chef is going to set. True but maybe can find out more about the menu and come back with the suggestions ? As a consumer, we are not ready to JUST choose one. We need to know what we are buying into. ~We ordered 2 glasses of champagne to start the evening. It came and I tasted it. It was ok but I saw a piece of foil from the champagne bottle in the champagne I just tasted...๐Ÿ˜‘... well mistake happens.. ~Then through the evening, we got 2 not clean glasses...๐Ÿ˜‘ ~And there was once when our food was just placed down in front of us while Jean Baptist was explaining the wine and its pairing to the dish. When he was finished with the wines, no one came back to explain what was infront of us. We had to ask our attentive lady server to tell us what is infront of us. She wasnt the server that served the dishes... really don't want to get her in trouble. Overall, it was a pleasant evening with wonderful foods and wines.

The roast chicken is what you should not miss (although I will go for pigeon if it's available), and they serve the best millefeuille in the town, waiters are friendly and the environment is cosy, worth to go๏ผ

Food was good, some hits and misses. I wasnโ€™t really full at the end of the meal (which is unusual as Iโ€™m not a massive eater). The menu i happen to get does not have any red meat & the chicken was disappointing. I was also serviced by an unfriendly lady. I already did not like her throughout the meal as I could obviously feel how unwelcome she made me feel. I did make a remark during booking that it is a special occasion, to which she came to my table to ask what is it to which I did not disclose as it is personal. In the end we did not get any celebratory item despite making a note for it?? Just because I did not disclose it was a promotion celebratory? Was it necessary for her to interrogate me in front of both of us? Itโ€™s ridiculous to do this over a silly piece of cake. How welcoming.

Very nice restaurant. The atmosphere was amazing, especially the lighting. Service was also on point with your server always available. However, the food was nothing amazingly spectacular.

Great food but more importantly, great staff. JR and Christina certainly made our early valentines dinner so memorable. The chef, Jacob, was also pretty cool! Would definitely recommend others in the future to check it out.

An intriguing tasting menue featuring the classic French roast chicken, I personally I enjoyed how they added duxelle under the crispy skin. Reason for 4 stars: the salad came completely overdressed and we were forced to send it back. The kitchen promptly amended it.

Good food, great service but a bit costly. Food prices are reasonable, but be aware of the prices for the beverages.

Everything is perfect, perhaps except the limitation of a rather small restaurant space. Wine selection is surprisingly good too. Love it.

MICHELIN STAR PRICES, AVERAGE QUALITY We went to Belon for my friend's birthday, expecting a great dining experience but turned out disappointed. We started with snacks- carrot stroopwafel $38 and trout roe tartlet $68 (these were per piece charged), then from appetizers to mains to desserts (see attached photos). Although they tasted ok, but the presentation lacked a wow factor, in fact rather plain. Worse of all the portions were pathetically small. The desserts, one would expect something spectacular from a French restaurant with a Michelin Star, and for almost $300 per piece. But they just looked like some ordinary cakes from any local pastry shops (Maxims Bakery, etc), no imagination nor efforts was needed. Well, we were given a small birthday cake at the very end, we would've appreciated more if they had served that before we ordered our 2 expensive desserts. The interior decor of the new location wasn't very pleasant, probably due to it's very low ceiling height, and the dark ambience doesn't help neither.

Fantastic food for an overall reasonable price. The brunch formula is excellent and a great way to have an overview of the menu. Need to book a few weeks in advance though. Only disappointment: wines are overpriced compared with other top HK restaurants.

Came here for our anniversary and they made the whole experience special and personalized for us. The restaurant's layout and decor was quite interesting. The service was exceptional, really happy with Lauren's attention to detail and GG's friendly service. We got the carte noire tasting menu (up to the chef's choice) and foodwise, the quality was excellent. The variety and taste of hors d'oeuvres were fantastic. The mains were no slouch either, with the turbot fish and pigeon pithivier which tasted amazing. We were so full and satisfied by the end we could barely finish the desserts. Throughout the menu, my partner and I got different items so we got to taste multiple items as well.

Having been to the previous location frequently over the years with friends or family. I have come to really love Belon and the food.Their new location was quite hard to locate last night. Thankfully someone from the restaurant next door helped us locate it. This was the first time at their new location. The new elevated design is initially quite nice with the open kitchen by the entrance which is beautiful and the nice stairwell with wine on display to greeting you. Once seated the layout is somehow kind of strange with the curtains and drapery dividing the seating areas. Not my cup of tea personally, it's odd and seems like it's an after thought or a temporary fixture for a pop-up dining experience. The food as before was good, the service has been taken up a notch that's for sure. Service was very attentive and polite and the team are all dressed up very formally now with a somilier and captain to assist as well. The new experience at Belon gives me the impression that they seem to be trying to strive for more Michelin stars with this new elevated and intimate experience. I do however really miss that old location that had a neo rustic Parisian cafe style that was relaxed but had really sophisticated, affordable and delicious food. Dare I say, far more unique compared to the new location and when putting it in perspective with all the other fine dining choices in this city it does not stand out as much as it used to somehow. Overall we had a brilliant evening! Black Sheep never disappoints.
