I had a lovely dinner here with my wife. The food was amazing! We had more than enough, and the staff was very friendly. cozy yet busy atmosphere, and eating at the bar is possible. Don't forget to ask for the daily price, I regrettably didn't.

Great experience! Food was tasty, flavors were original, and the wine menu was nice and big. I was a little hesitant about visiting at first, have had bad seafood experiences at restaurants in the past, but will definitely return here. Also we went on a Friday without reservations and were able to get a table just fine.

Wow this place is great. The restaurant looked quite from the street but as soon as we entered we found a busy lively restaurant which was completely full, luckily we had a reservation. We ate oysters, monkfish, prawns, cockles and razor clams, everything was delicious and the service was exceptional. A great start to our holiday.

Had a great Friday night dinner with a good friend. Excellent winelist, great food selection and really lovely staff. I agree with other reviews that it was not cheap, but for me definitely worth it!

Although the food was fine, It is so overpriced. Extremely expensive and small portions. Mouthful of sand with my mussels and no bread or anything comes with the mussels. Wont be returning. Service was nice however. Left hungry and went home and had some toast!

Came here as part of the tasty walk. Great, fresh oysters. Not usually a fan of toppings on my oysters but the ponzu cucumber topping was top. Menu looks great and would like to come back to try some dishes. Unfortunately, wine menu was rather limited, specifically the sparkling wines. Maybe they had another wine list, I am not sure. Removed 1 star as the service was really not present. Took a long time to get the attention of the staff.

Everything was great, atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the food is fabulous, the service is knowledgable without being pedantic. Great wine pairing to go along with the captain's table concept.

THE FOOD AND THE WINE ARE AMAZING. All caps intended ;) And the staff is really friendly. I had a long, lazy dinner with local friends and it felt just like having dinner by the harbour in perhaps Marseille

It was 0 degrees outside and 17 degrees inside the restaurant. We were the only table and ordered 3 fish and they only had 2. They also didn't have the salad we wanted nor the wine we ordered there before. I was having dinner with my mother, my wife and my daughter and while I was rolling my cigarette the waitress came to ask if it was a cigarette or a joint. Time to say goodbye to Fish Monk and give space to something new.

I'm happy to say I have finally found a place in Haarlem that I'm looking forward to returning. Fish & chips were extremely good quality, complemented by the estragon flavored tar tar type dressing. The "knolselderij" was a perfect side dish, although I'd say it's buttery deliciousness would have easily qualified it as a dessert. Both above mentioned dishes highly recommended. On top of the food, service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere was great. Fresh seafood like tuna, monk fish, sword fish and oysters are on display on ice beds in the dining hall.

A very pleasant place with such a lively atmosphere to eat delicious food and listen to a great music.

Pro’s: great service, good ambiance, cool bartender and drinks, delicious chips and salade Con’s: mossels with sand and no bread/sauces that usually comes with them; fish cooked with gills not removed;… Won’t be returning.

My last time was before covid and this place was a good place. However, their menu has shrunk terribly and we are still waiting our order more than 45 minutes now. Such a terrible experience and losing another good place for what. You can buy way better food and service in a various places in Haarlem.

Loved it. You get to order from a selection of fresh foods, seafood plus sides, and the dishes are made for sharing. They get served slowly, with little breaks in between, so you get to enjoy every course while talking with your company and enjoying the really pleasant and unpretentious atmosphere of the venue. The wine card is nice, not too fancy, so it's affordable. We sat outside today, which was very nice and we weren't neglected or "forgotten", even though it was bustling inside. Very friendly staff, always smiling, helpful and polite. Thanks for the experience, everyone at the "Monk"!

Filet of sole was excellent - perfectly cooked. No sides are included so need to add these in. Single serving of fries was enough for 2. Calamari appetizer again was excellent and enough for 2.

The food was amazing! The service was extremely good!! When asked for advice the waitress have us the best advice for getting the most out of the food & wine 🙌🏻 Without a doubt one of the best meals I've had this year. Highly recommend Fish bar Monk

We had a lovely dinner with our children here on a wet and windy day in Haarlem. We selected a few different fish and sides and were pleased with the quality of the fresh fish (monkfish) and wide range of flavors for the other fish. The roasted cabbage side was superb; you have to try it. The waitstaff treated us kindly and service was solid.
