Interesting to see a relatively new church. Many little details to find and appreciate. The sky bridge is worth the effort, but it does involve walking a lot of very narrow spiral stairs. And through the attics over the vaulted ceilings. Definitely mind your head. They do provide plenty of stops along the way including the church's bells and clock. Inside the dome especially if they are playing the organ is quite an experience.

We went to see the Xmas crypt dioramas and were lucky enough to do so before this lockdown. Really special for kids and adults. The church itself is fairly magnificent if you like churches. Very welcoming for kids but the crypt has stairs.

The Cathedral of St. Bavo is a main cathedral for the local Roman Catholic Diocese and an interesting attraction to visit while in Haarlem. It was built by important Dutch architect Joseph Cuypers (1895-1930) and is beautifully situated along Leisevaart canal in the southwest of the city center. The church is an interesting blend of architecture featuring Neo-Gothic, Neo-Romanesque, Byzantine and Jugendstil features. You can visit the dome cathedral (€ 4 per adult incl. Audio tour) and view the grounds of the main church. Opening hours are 11am to 5pm (Tues to Fri) and 11am to 2.30pm (Sat) from April to October. Hours are reduced during November to March. The interior is quite attractive with side chapels, stained-glass windows, sculptures, pulpits and nice frescos to view. You can also climb the towers at St. Bavo (€10 per adult). Opening hours are 12pm to 6pm (Sun to Fri) and 10am to 4pm (Saturdays). This was the most interesting part of our visit. The climb is lengthy up and down spiralling staircases. However, there are a handful of rest stops along the way. You are able to walk through sections of the roof, have excellent views from the inner dome back down into the cathedral and are afforded excellent views of the city once you are at the top. In the end, we really liked our visit to the St. Bavo Cathedral and will gladly revisit to view the church interior and climb the towers again during future visits to Haarlem. Note that the St. Bavo Cathedral is separate and different to the much older Gothic style Church of St. Bavo (Grote Church) at Grote Markt in the city centre of Haarlem. They are both impressive attractions worth visiting.

What a beautiful place to visit! I've lived in Haarlem my entire life, but only went here a long time ago on a school trip. We paid to have the tour into the big towers, added in the 1920's. It's a very interesting place to wander through, where you get a lot of freedom to pace yourselves. Lots of winding stairs, mind your head... Free entrance, but the tour only costs €7.50 and supports the maintenance of the building.

Grand church. The church just went through a renovation, so it is in the best state. The interior is beautifully redone. There is a new walkway that connects the two towers. On a good day, you can see the view from Amsterdam or beyond. Don't forget the small museum at the end of the building. It tells a story of the church and its recent renovation. A must see for tourists who come to the Netherlands.

Worth the detour from the Grote Markt area to visit this Catholic cathedral. The audio guide is totally worth it as it explain the architect’s design concept and more details surrounding the history of the church. There is a Museum underneath that we skipped due to a time crunch. The climb to the clock tower was not available on that day (Sunday). The stained glass windows, the glazed stones, the interplay of light and shadows was quite beautiful.

Gorgeous Catholic cathedral in Harlem. The beautiful interior illuminated by the natural light coming from the well designed windows is incredible. The place do not accept museumkaart, but the entry fee is cheap.

Such a beautiful church. I just loved it. It was a sunny day that I visited and the light in the church was amazing. Also the fact that still today new pieces of (contemporary) art are being added e.g the painting about Mozes in jeans and with a man bun, is wonderful.

A beautiful church with a magnificent castle like look. Entrance is 6 euros as I remember. You can climb up the tower and go to the top of the cathedral to witness a great view of Haarlem.

Beautiful Catholic Cathedral with rich art displays of different periods in its architecture. The only Cathedral in the Netherlands built as a Cathedral, showing the grandeur and holiness of God in many ways. Underwent a major renovation in the last decades and is a real pearl of the city. The liturgies celebrated show even more what it is all about and what the end of its beauty is. Many side chapels of different saints with altars and images in differen styles, among which stand out the Sacred Heart Altar in the south transept, very rich in symbolism, and the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, also with rich symbolic decorations.

Very old and large church with two towers one with a clock. Very imposing and impressive. Not too much around except a fun playground a couple blocks away.
