Haven't had sushi in sometime..I am back to craving sushi now! I like to sit at the sushi bar and watch the masters work. Absolutely the best sushi I have had. The staff and sushi chefs (Itamea) are incredible. I went back to back weekends and will be going back soon. I shared the pictures with others and couldn't believe the art they had created. If you can sit at the sushi bar the guys make it fun! Back again..love this place.

My three stars are for the sushi and veggies only. The service was not good. The two female waitresses had an attitude and were very impatient while we reviewed the menu from our phones. The rice that came with my hibachi lunch was a mix of cook and uncooked grains. The uncooked pieces got stuck in my tooth and were too hard to chew making the rice portion of my meal inedible. The sushi was fantastic and I would definitely go back for that. The vegetables were nice but I found a piece of metal in the sauce next to them. The tofu was fried silken tofu and it was horrible. Needless to say I would only go back for the sushi part. I also mentioned the uncooked rice and the metal to the waitress and she just nodded her head, took the plates full of food and walked away. She came back with the check like she did not care about the complaint. Good luck if you decide to go.

Surprisingly fantastic sushi. Some of the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Definitely top of the list in the area. Fantastic selection fresh excellent rice and quality

I challenge you to find higher quality sushi anywhere in Birmingham. The Sashimi was the freshest most beautiful peices I have ever seen. The staff was wonderful, but full disclosure it was during an Alabama football game so the restaurant was not crowded. We ate fairly late, closer to closing time, and they were celebrating the Harvest Moon festival. They treated us like family even though we stayed past closing. I Will never go anywhere else for sushi again.

My experience at Samurai Japan was the best dining experience I have had in Alabama! The sushi was so delicious and fresh, and the hibachi dinner was fantastic! This is definitely a place all can enjoy. Samurai Japan is my new go-to restaurant! I highly recommend their jalapeno yellowtail appetizer, and their chef sushi rolls! The servers were all very kind as well! Fantastic!

Kind staff and lovely atmosphere with good parking. Excellent presentation on the food and the sushi was very delicious and tasted fresh. Can't wait to come back!

I'm a huge fan of their sushi ❤️ and I make it a tradition to have my birthday lunch/dinner there. The sushi is always delicious and fresh. However , I do hope the staff could be a bit more welcoming and friendly.

For years Samurai has always been a comfortable, consistent, and great place to eat. Often I dine alone and get lunch here and I always feel welcomed. I suggest getting the clear soup with your meal!

These people are our family! Especially sweet Sarah who is absolutely our friend and sincerely the best owner/manager/server there is, in birmingham or anywhere we have ever been!!! The consistency of the food quality is second to none and they never disappoint us! But even if they ever have an off day in the future we will always come back! They are wonderful and we love them!!

Incredible sushi! I’ve had a lot of sushi in a lot of places, but these were possibly my favorite rolls I’ve ever had anywhere. We ended up ordering even more than the photo because it was all so good. Highly, highly recommend!

Once again, we had a great meal. One thing I love about Samurai Japan is that it is very consistent. They have a whole new menu with I think all the same favorites, but it looked like there may be some new dishes as well. Of course, like everything else, the prices have gone up some, but it is still a good value. I think it's some of the best sushi in Birmingham!

My husband and I love this place. Sushi is always good love the Hawaiian roll, the pink lady and the rainbow roll! Even the standard rolls are better than most we’ve had else where. I see why they stay busy! It’s worth the wait and the staff are very kind and helpful! I will sometimes bring my friends there on weekday nights just always had a good experience!

Excellent food and excellent service. Very accommodating. Would go again.
