Restaurant North african restaurant

😠 Super expensive for an ordinary meal. €34 for this is crazy!!!!!!! Do not recommend. Absolute tourist trap. This should be within 20 euro. But obviously you won't know because they don't show you the menu. They came directly to take your order, giving you option of rice or whatever the other N Afric... People often mention meal, friendly, good, service, restaurant, vegetables, nice, super, portion, prices,

Super expensive for an ordinary meal. €34 for this is crazy!!!!!!! Do not recommend. Absolute tourist trap. This should be within 20 euro. But obviously you won't know because they don't show you the menu. They came directly to take your order, giving you option of rice or whatever the other N African base it was. And then asked if you want chicken or vegetarian. You'll be fooled. When you finish the meal and have the bill, you have no option but you didn't know the price beforehand unless you double check first. Super disgraceful. They ruin people's experience and image of Amsterdam. Shame on them.

Trying this restaurant for the first time. The decoration reflects a cosy environment although it’s a bit tight in the inside and the bathroom area needs a serious revamp. Food concept was super good with a big portion in the end. The options were super tasteful and full filling. I loved the rich tastes and the plate presentation. Staff were friendly and helpful. Value for price is fair to what Amsterdam is about. Could be a bit cheaper though, but overall it’s ok.

We ordered the pumpkin soup (you can see in the picture that it looks like dog food), the taste was okay, but it was more than 10€…?! The other plate was around 20€ and it was just random roasted vegetables, warmed in the oven, super dry (no sauce), no protein for vegetarians I don’t think this restaurant is worth it. It was too chaotic, they don’t have a menu so in the end we ended up paying more than 30€ for a soup and veggies…I can’t really talk about the service as it felt like a canteen, we order and we get what’s available

Ultra expensive!!!!! Food is good but the prices at exorbitant for want you get. We ordered one chicken meal and one vegetarian meal both with veggies. Both meals were really nice, but way overpriced. Two meals and two coffees= 56€!!!! Normally you would not spend more than 30€ for that. The not so honest thing is that there is no menu that you can really see from the outside or on the table. We ordered without knowing the prices and unfortunately we noticed bit later there was a board (not so noticeable, I'd say on purpose) with the exorbitant prices on. When asked what we wanted also we didn't feel we had a choice. It was like either option a or b. Would not get back. With that amount of cash you can eat at fancier restaurants.

In general a small and cozy restaurant with middle Eastern inspired food. The service was a mix of very nice but also super stressed and not so polite. The food was okay. However, the pizza was very oily and the portion for the "large" couscous was rather small for the amount we had to pay. The coffee also was mediocre.

Decided to come here after a friend raved about the restaurant. We found that the food was lovely, but the portions were definitely on the small side. For the portion size, 24 euros felt a little bit too expensive. The space was nice and the service I found good. Just a bit too overpriced for what it is in my opinion.

The food is a solid 12/10 but the exorbitant prices are prolly 5/10. I was gonna call this the restaurant in Ams with some of the tastiest food until i was handed the check. A plate of rice and veggies if $35?! Just shocked to be honest. The staff were very nice and the food was insanely good but i hope they can do something about this price point. It’ll make a million others fans of this place happier

Algerian food that I fell in love with. Ordered couscous with pumpkin- feta cheese. The food was really good and one meal was enough for 2. The flavours were very different with fresh seasonal vegetables and fruits. Totally loved the cozy atmosphere and the window view of the canals in the corner.

Great food, service and atmosphere. But the prices are crazy EXPENSIVE: 26€ for a dish that in my opinion should be €16, and €22 for a pre-made pizza left in the window? C'mon, I know the prices in the center but this felt like a rip off. Definitely not recommended.

Rainarai is a charming place near one of the canals in Jordaan - one of the central districts of Amsterdam. An exhibition of fresh vegetables in front of the premises encourages visitors to enter. A small and modest place, but full of wooden, raw furniture and accessories. There is no menu - the waitress tells you what they propose from North African dishes. Roasted vegetables with aromatic spices are the base of the main courses. Plus goat cheese, dried apricots and pomegranates. Instead, you choose a supplement in the form of additional vegetables, fish, shrimp or meat. I chose shrimp. The dish was perfect!!! Perfectly seasoned and yet, despite these spices, you could feel every element of it. Bull's-eye.

The other reviews are saying that the staff is not friendly and inattentive, but I couldn’t disagree more. The lady explained us everything and served one of the best foods I had. Even though the price was a little high (for these two plates we paid 48€), but I couldn’t give it less than five stars. The food is fresh and soooo delicious, and the menu changes every day. Definitely recommend coming here.

How should I describe the experience here? Perhaps with the amazing beginning: to get a seat you first have to dance a little. Sounds a bit confusing at first, but it shows that you have the right spirit. The food was excellent - we ate vegetarian / vegan. Their interpretation of a pizza is excellent. The service and the owner were also friendly and personable. The interior is simple and lovely. Only the coffee was a disaster. Perhaps the worst I've ever had.

Stumbled on this spot while waiting for our ticket time at the Anne Frank Museum. Was walking by after the Houseboat Museum when the kids said they wanted something and saw some food through the door at what I thought was a corner store. Ended up having the best meal and eating experience of our two week Amsterdam stay. Chef/owner is a gem and vibe chill. Self serve beer and wine. Super friendly guy and kids loved him. Best apple pie of our trip and pizza was fantastic (and I wasn’t even hungry). Ended up getting a to go order of his couscous and his selection whatever he wanted to give me. Food is precooked and heated to order but fantastic quality. Even found his cookbook inside and was bummed was in Dutch until another couple came in to grab the English version. Only souvenir I brought home from our trip. Owner is very friendly, engaging and outgoing so not the place if that bothers you for some reason.

A lovely find on the canal. Had a lovely vegan pizza with a bean, pea and artichoke side. Really interesting and lovely flavours (nomadic Algerian food)

Cute little shop/restaurant with the kindest staff. After a disappointment at Winkels next door (no food being served, only pie + drinks) we ended up here for lunch and it was delicious. The pumpkin, spinach, cheese dish was beyond amazing. And the apple pie, which we took to-go for later, made our bellies so happy. I'd take a slice right now!

Middle Eastern stew. Spiced and full of veggies. Very comforting. Tried a vegetarian and meat dish and they were both way too much for lunch. So although a little expensive worth the money. Filled with Brussel sprouts, carrots, cabbage. Meat had lamb in it. Cozy place.

Delicious food in a cozy setting. We had the chicken, lamb, and prawns, all of which were delicious. The waitress was very helpful, too, and I love the self serve drinks. Thanks for a great meal!

Besides the exquisite location, just outside the tourist area, you will find good food and great service.

Fantastic, a little wait for the food but well worth the wait! Flavour is unreal. Best meal we had our stay!

Our best meal that we had whilst we were in Amsterdam. Food was really really nice. The place is well located and the staff were friendly and attentive. The Algerian pizza was amazing and the coucous type meal was very flavoursome. We’d definitely recommend and return.

Came here for lunch, ordered the lamb & salmon (separately). The couscous was so flavourful, the vegetables were fresh and the lamb was super tender. The portion is pretty big so you could get it to share if you aren't too hungry. The chef was very nice and friendly, the owner is a bit gruff so if you're coming for service it won't be that.

The food is very tasty and good ! The portion was big enough. The service was very good and friendly in contrast of other reviews… maybe they changed the service. Slightly cheaper and it would have won 5 star . But paying 20€ per person if you consider only the taste and quality then for dinner is fine but Business lunch maybe not …

Very cute restaurant just by the canal, nice to sit outside. The food was excellent and light. In fact, so excellent that I bought the cooking book. Perfect combination of flavours and the vegetables were on point. They melted in your mouth but had also crispy edges/skin. The chef and the rest of the staff were lovely. I really recommend.
