MODERN BIG HOUSES + UNHAPPY PEOPLE + BORING ATMOSPHERE+ LACK OF TREES + DOG HATERS From outside, it looks like a regular island with modern buildings and bridges. Few stores and some small parks. Kids playing and people doing everyday stuff. Everything seems normal BUT............. When you start to live here it's beyond terrible. You'll see people around you so UPSET and ANGRY pretty much all the time. It's like if they have no Happiness left. May be because of its lack of cafes / bars, Lack of trees .... makes this place kind of lifeless. Dogs are not allowed almost everywhere, its very very difficult to walk the dog anywhere in the whole island. People don't tolerate dogs walking near their houses. For OLD PEOPLE and for PEOPLE WITH KIDS it's good I suppose , but terrible for young people or for people who love their dogs like family. (Picture is from google.. but describes the situation here)

Excellent children-friendly suburb with all amenities including marina, windsurfing school, urban beach, supermarkets and stylish homes. 20 minutes from Amsterdam by bike or tram! What not to like about it?

A marvel of engineering (and construction). Upside: 1. A house in Amsterdam (one of the best cities in Europe to live) without the headache of the rising waters. Downside: 1. Sometimes you can feel it move with the wind.

Peaceful family-friendly neighborhood where you live near the sea-like river and have the chance to discover local boutiques across the main road. The Deen supermarket here is famous for having seasonal fresh food, frequent promotions, and beautiful garden products.

Lovely area for living

A man made island 5 minutes away from Amsterdam which offers countless of things to do. Restaurants, beaches, walking/biking/excersing area's, great for dog walks and skating, multiple grocery stores and shopping malls and the best thing is; since it's only inhabited since 2002 everything has a new, trendy feeling which makes it quite refreshing from the city.

Fantastic place. Beautiful beach. Great amenities. Library, hospital, shops every thing is nearby, at walking distance. Calm and quiet place. Peaceful. Great connections by public transport to Amsterdam Central and to Bijlmer Arena.
