Terrible experience… don’t come here unless you want to pay outrageous amounts for less than mediocre food. The owner who took our order would not bring us the menu or tell us prices and didn’t even ask what we wanted. He kept trying to pressure my friend, who doesn’t drink, to order a drink over and over again. Then left without having asked us what we wanted to eat and came back with my drink telling us he was getting us a bit of everything. After protesting and saying we were only there for a quick bite he assured us only a small amount of food was being prepared. Again we said we didn’t want a lot and that one of us was vegetarian and the other doesn’t eat fish to which the owner called us difficult Americans. Finally the food came out, way more than what we wanted and we were charged 30€ each for really quite bland and ready made food that had just been heated up. I said we only ordered one thing to share and the owner corrected us saying the charge was correct. If I could give 0 stars I would There are much much much better places to eat in Rotterdam This place is just a scam and a trap for anyone who doesn’t read the reviews before hand

Amazing food & energy. The restaurant grows their own veggies en gets the rest locally. The owner is a cheerful guy, who makes the place feel like home. We didn't even look at the menu, but he provided an amazing meal for us.

The food variation and taste was Wooow. Delicious and tasty. The price is worth it. I only have one comment: if you are two, and you think of buying a dish per person, I advise you to buy one per two because you will be full and stuffed and can't even finish it alone. One dish already contains a lot. Another thing, the fresh mixed of ginger and mint tea with honey is a killer. A must try!!!! And a special thanks for the people working there. The man is nice and explains everything.

We reserved a table a day before cause we invited people over but food was not enough and were served a plate of whole ginger instead of meat with ginger. As a first time comer, I received no advice on how to order or how portion size work. Staff are nice but need to be more professional in handling big groups. And what made things worse is the ridiculously expensive bill. Total rip off place and an embarrassment in front of our guests

I wish I can even don’t put any stars, it’s so bad we ordered food and we got different dishes the plate was so hot and the meat in it still cold. We asked for the menu they don’t have one we didn’t know how much each dishes cost. We ordered lamb and the plate has two pieces and the rest was a big ginger pieces not coming back again

Overall a lovely experience. I enjoyed the lamb, and my friend had the tuna. Have a couple drinks and take advantage of the garden! I recommend making a reservation

Cool location, beautiful interior and okay food. The service leaves a lot to be desired, we were the only customers and were ignored on several occasions. The prices are ridiculous, and in the end had to argue to get a slight discount on the lunch as my portion was small. 25euros for one plate of food at lunch time? That seems a little excessive. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone which is a shame as I am Algerian and was excited to experience the cuisine in Rotterdam.

The food is really tasty and good, but I doubt the freshness of it. The spinach on my plate was cold in the middle. Also the customer service is really bad. Doesn’t allow you to get what you ask. I’ve asked for tea and the answer was: “tea is only in the end of the meal”. Not recommended.

Food is good, place is nice but price was ridiculous and unexpected 54 euros for 2 plates and 2 beers.

Delicious, leisurely. Not ♿. 80 euros for two people with no alcohol.

Everyday changing menu. I was just used to african food having more flavor, so i found the food here a bit bland. Since it was raining we also couldn’t enjoy the nice rugs and pillows outside but the vibe inside was nice and cozy too. But i found the prices to be exorbitantly high. €25 for a plate.

Was actually excited to try this place, never again. Waited for +1 hour for food that was made 2 days before and needed to be warmed up. Vegetables stank and we couldn’t eat them. Rice was almost burnt. They never asked if we wanted rice or couscous and just assumed couscous? In the end we shared that we couldn’t eat the vegetables (because they went bad) so they gave us a discount. Friendly staff, but too expensive for what you get.

Awful experience. While it looked attractive initially , cosy terrace seating, selling veggies outside and food already cooked in big trays displayed, as a catering/traiteur way, you really want to stay away from this place and also see rest of reviews. First of all, the man who works there treats the woman who works there in a very abusive way, yells at her and is extremely rude also with clients. No one came after a good 10 min of us sitting outside to ask us anything. We went inside and ordered some food and drinks ourselves at the counter. Standard chicken and some couscous and veggies - i repeat: big trays displayed of already cooked dishes so nothing to prepare, just needs heating; we wanted something quick to snack on cos we were hungry-so we asked as a starter for some bread, dip and olive oil. After an hour we got nothing, not even the starter bread and dip. Drinks came late too and in that hour my partner went in 2 times to ask about the food. They just need to heat it, all is already cooked. In the end after more wait we wanted to cancel the food cos it was taking way too long and we were starving. The man was extremely abusive and rude to my partner, wanting to ''shame us for forcing him to throw food away and yelling that in any good restaurant you have to wait'' ! Other clients we saw had left food almost not touched, making weird faces when tasting it. The poor woman she seems nice and kind but under such an abusive treatment from the guy that she works terrified most times. I hope she find something else and i hope the guy realizes he needs to learn how to respect his clients. Simply awful experience.

This place seemed very authentic to us. We were passing by late at night and decided to get a takeaway menu. We chose couscous with chickpeas, egg and prunes and baked pumpkin with goat cheese and figs. It was very tasty - I'm not very versed in African cuisine, but I liked everything. It was also nice to know that this place always cooks with fresh vegetables that you can see on the counter. I will definitely try something else here.

Lovely little cosy place. We asked the staff to surprise us with some vegan friendly dishes and they blew us away! Very friendly staff and delicious food.

We asked for chicken and cous-cous and we got the yesterday’s lamb with curry rice. When discussed with the chef, he said he didn’t understand us.

Nomadic ALGERIAN DISHES > Tucked behind an oasis in the middle of the city, you’ll find this cozy little restaurant. All food is displayed on their counter. Whether you take a vegan, vegetarian, or meat dish, all are full of flavor and made with fresh produce. The lamb is cooked to perfection. The mix of veggies in the Choukchouka is spot on. Heads up; there’s a lot of oil involved! For more images and content go to my instagram: hungry.rotterdam
