The park is very well-maintained! The trails and views are simply breathtaking. There is so much to do here from overnight stays in the cabins. We’re bringing your camper up here and enjoying the fresh mountain air. This is truly a great place to bring your family and friends for a nice day out enjoying nature.

Beautiful nature! Not too crowded but enough people to not be nervous alone. Great for hiking or mountain biking; not the best for trail runs at least not the one I did. Lots of steep loose rock. It is amazing here though.

The campsites are spaced very nicely for privacy. The area we were in had full 50A hookups. There is a lovey pavilion in the middle for group gatherings, or as we were lucky enough to be there for, musical jams. Within walking distance of the campground is a Japanese Tea Garden, a playground, a picnic area, and an amphitheater. There are als multiple hiking trails. We will definitely be returning m

Camping. Disc Golf. Kids playground. Pinics. Great hikes especially Stone cuts, South Plateau, Mackay Hollow. The painted cave. Our family stayed 2 nights here in our 🇦🇺Caravan🇦🇺. We hiked the hardest trails here and the kids thoroughly enjoyed them. They slept well! Although we did these trails after heavy rain,, we recommend to not go on the difficult trails after heavy downpours. The trails get very muddy and it increases your hike time considerably due to navigating the mud AND the rocks from the recent landslides. These trails do need some maintenance. We went late March and the Blue Bells were starting to color the place. We would love to come back in April/May to see the green and Nov/Dec to see the Fall leaves.

I had the best time playing in the stone cuts. Felt like a kid again. The trails are very well marked. The campground is well taken care of. Sights were large and not very close to our neighbors. Restrooms are super clean . We spent 3 days there and it just wasn’t enough. Next time we will book for a week.

Another great state park in Alabama. We stayed in the campground in a 28 ft RV. There were larger 5th wheels and class A motor homes in the park also. There is plenty of room between sites. Good area for kids to ride bikes. We enjoyed a nice hike on a couple of the many trails available.

A gorgeous state park with LOTS of great hiking trails for moderate levels. The trails have lots of roots, rock & exposed bedrock. Gorgeous tall pine trees & sweet smell. Visiting in late October ZERO bugs harassing us. Lots of parking at each lots & many trail options. Day pass is $5 or $4 for seniors or those with golden access cards.

A must go for anyone who enjoys nature. Fall was such a peaceful time. Various levels of difficulty in hiking. Some we found rated more difficult than actually was. Stone Cuts feature was gratifying to explore, although does require flexibility. Saw some wildlife: deer, 10-12 chipmunks, and countless squirrels. Looking forward to returning.

Loved our visit to this Alabama State Park. We stayed in the campground and there is a separate review for that. The park itself is well maintained. Trails in great shape. Lots of multi use trails the we hiked and mountain bikes. Nice overlooks with great scenery. Lots of bird photographing locations. Many deer.

We hit this Alabama State park right after Christmas 2021. Super quiet, very clean camping spots. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday getaway. If it hadn't been raining so much, we would've tried some of the trails. We think we wouldn't mind coming back here sometime.

Very clean, well kept. Plenty of areas for both families to have picnics and to explore. I wish the maps were labeled w the waterfall information, but otherwise this park has incredible views and a great variety of length & difficultly for the trails. You can also bring your dog and multiple restrooms on site (some portapotties and regular ones at the information cafe). Insta @doodlenikiproctor for more 💛

Beautiful location but check the map before you go. Google maps brought us in from the northeast on Bankhead Parkway- VERY tight switchbacks, extremely steep and narrow road. We were in a 30’ class C motor home and just barely made the turns. Otherwise, enjoyed our stay.

Hiked south loop trail and it was all well marked and stopped near the campsite for the view! Bathrooms were clean and loved the Japanese Garden. Even saw a momma deer and her fawn and they weren't scared of us at all!

Great campground. We spent a week there and will be back. We saw complaints about dated facilities. Yes they need to work the wood infrastructure of the sites and the bathroom fixtures could use some updating. They are fine for now. However? The site electrical is new and first class. The sites with black/gray water drops are in excellent shape. We did some hiking and it easy fabulous. We stayed on the easier trails. The trail that goes around the rim is beautiful. The fire tower trail is also a good hike.

A beautiful park with lots of hiking trails. The campground was nice with level lots and bathroom was clean. They also had a washer in the campground for campers to use. They have a nice little campground store as well. They have a little Japanese Gardens also with a trail that goes around it.

There are tons of hiking trails ranging from beginners to Bear Grylls and a disc gold course that seems rather challenging. The lookout points aren't anything special, just trees. Cabins to rent seem cozy, and there seems like great event spaces to rent. If you're going to hike, disc golf, have an event, or just let the kids run around, then you will be very happy with your visit. If you're going for a good view, you won't be as happy.

Stayed here with our big rig. The site is well laid out and easy for large RVs. The wooded sites are beautiful. We stayed where there was cold mornings and early spring rains. The morning fog made for great walks on the trail - quiet and cool. The location is remote even in the city, and it is a bit of a drive to get to sites and restaurants - but, in reality, that is not an issue. This is definitely a place we will stay at again when we visit this summer.

We went down to Monte Same park for Memorial day. We were there for 5 days and loved it. The campground was nice, mountain biking was great. Plenty of trail for the beginners, the way to experienced. We rode about 30 miles in 3 days. We would definitely consider revisiting again.

Wildflower trail was lovely but only for the sure-footed. Saw an Eastern Chipmunk and the spider and water snake. Japanese Garden seemed to share land with the Disc golf coarse.

Great location. There are many trails and bike paths. The Japanese garden inside is also unique. Please come and visit us.

Loved this park. Up on a mountain so camping was cooler. temperature wise. and there are full hookup sites available. Different hiking trails available. Small camp store. If you are going up for camping check the maps. don’t go the way GPS sends you. it is a windy switchblade type road. there is an easier entrance off Governors Drive there are picnic areas and it is dog friendly. Also a playground near the picnic area. outside the campground.

What a gem! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, they went above and beyond! Eager to interact. Spacious campsites, clean. The bath houses were dated but clean and stocked. We've been coming to Huntsville for years and never knew that there was such a beautiful place within 15 minutes of downtown Huntsville!

There is so much to do and see. I went to 2 different look outs, found one of the 2 water falls (it hadn't rained so only a trickle of water) so relaxing. I was only able to hike about a mile due to time but what I did do was amazing. The silence other than nature was perfect. I will definitely go again next time I am in the area.

a really pretty park! but wasnt huge on the trails being both biker and hiker (we almost got ran over multiple times, yield to hikers is a rule) and for a $5 entrance fee per person I was expecting wayyy nicer facilities - where is all that money going? hopefully not into the pockets of the managers.

May be because it was winter time when I visited the park, I was not so impressed. Park looked dead or dying. It didn't look like it has been managed that well. Cabins are not well maintained. It is a nice little hill in Alabama, which is wonderful. I believe it would look better in other seasons, but I do not recommend visiting there in the winter.

Lovely park close to Huntsville AL. Entrance fee: $5 per adult. Lots of hikes. We hiked a little less than 5 hours today and all the hikes where very well signaled. Lots of hikes to choose from and lots of people hiking there - and no trash left - a sign of great civility. We hiked the south plateau loop, went back through Bucca family trail and saw the fire tower, then took the McKay Hollow trail to the Natural Well trail. The natural well is pretty impressive. On the way back, we saw three very unconcerned deers very close by. Pretty amazing park, lots of trails and lots to see. Visited on November 26, 2021. It was very cold!

👍👍 A neat little spot for a dose of Americana. It's a good photo opportunity, and the grounds are pretty cool to stroll through. There is plenty of seating and things to look over. A good leg stretch if you're heading through Huntsville.
