It's a small shrine with a pretty golden gate. There are several events throughout the year. If you visit Mito, I recommend taking a look, is very close to the station.

Tucked away near Mito Station this shrine offers a pleasant place to visit. After climbing up an impressive staircase you find yourself in the shrine grounds and the sounds of the city fade away. After praying head over and grab an omikuji then explore the grounds. Definitely on my list of places to visit whenever I'm in Mito.

Came here for a short trip with classmates. This temple doesn't have sprawling grounds like Meiji Jinggu, Kiyomizudera or Engkakuji types but it serves its' purpose of what a typical Japanese temple does - offering prayers & omikuji (note: it is written in Japanese only, no English translation) to devotees.

Mito Toshogu Shrine From the official website Mito Toshogu Shrine was built by Yorifusa Tokugawa, the first lord of the Mito domain, as a shrine to enshrine Ieyasu Tokugawa. In his hometown of Mito, he is affectionately called ``Gongen-san''. There were also Inari Shrine and Tenmangu Shrine within the precincts. It seems that the shrine and precincts have been restored since the earthquake and are now in place. It was a sunny day and I was able to visit comfortably.

You may as well visit it if you are in the area, but it's a rather modest shrine all in all. Hardly worth a deviation if you are in a hurry

(Translated by Google) The plums are in full bloom and it is best to see them on foot on the way to Kairakuen from Mito Station. After walking through the bus rotary from the north exit of Mito Station, I walked for a few minutes and saw a large torii gate. As you walk further back, you will find a staircase leading to Toshogu Shrine. As with any Toshogu shrine, the main shrine is really gorgeous. As soon as you see it, it's Toshogu, right? You have a presence. You can see a mobile tea house made of copper right next to it. If you think how luxurious a mobile tea house is, this time there is an iron tank, which seems to be the oldest in Japan. There was a nice place so close to Mito station and I thought that it was tough today, but I got a wonderful red seal at the shrine next to the shrine. Thank you very much!

(Translated by Google) In New Year's Day, the line of worship extends to the stairs just a short walk down the shopping street (?), Not the stairs that go up immediately from Route 50. Amazake is served free of charge, but celebrating the New Year and thanking Gongen, and maybe some happiness may be paid. Goshushi is the leftmost of the office of the shrine on the left side of the shrine.

(Translated by Google) 202005 16 ~ 17 I went to the 2nd Ibaraki ⇔ Chiba bullet homecoming laundry tour! After finishing the visit at Hirodokan Kashima Shrine, we stopped by at "Mito Toshogu Shrine"! Mito Toshogu is a shrine on a small hill about 5 minutes on foot from JR Mito Station. It seems that there is a free parking lot, but it is difficult to understand, so there are two approaches and there is a paid parking lot beside the Otorii, so park there and climb the stone steps! When you pass through the torii on the stone steps, there is a worship hall in front of you, overwhelmed by "Don!" However, the old worship halls, etc. with history are lost due to the war, so it is said that the current one was restored in the Showa period! After visiting the shrine and visiting the shrine office, the priest said, "Is it a red stamp? If it is a written matter, I can prepare it!" Received the red stamp! It was a very nice stamp! Mito Toshogu: Settled in Miyamachi, Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture The first lord of the Mito domain, Tokugawa Yorifusa, was founded as a shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1621. Currently, Yorifusa is also enshrined. Inside the precincts, there are copper lanterns dedicated by Kobo Yorifusa, Tokohayama Togane made by Tokugawa Mitsukuni (Mito Komon), and Anshin Shinkan (tank) designed by Tokugawa Masaaki.
