I visited a family member staying at Mövenpick and I was BLOWN AWAY. I wasn't even a paying guest, I could have been over looked but I wasn't, the front desk, the porter that met me near the lift, the hallways, waiting area, RAD !!!! Looking forward to the time, I can actually afford to stay there and get their services in full. Mövenpick is hotel goals, that's on period.

This is a very nice hotel. Everything works. The staff are welcoming right from the entrance of the gate to the entrance of the hotel. The rooms have lovely views and all. I should have rated it 5 but 4 is a fair rating so that they can keep up and keep getting better.

Marvellous. It’s as good as it comes. Though we didn’t lodge during my visit, where we spent much time at the lobby and then had their buffet for our dinner. The place felt so warm that leaving was a bit difficult. Amazing and super helpful staff, the food was also very nice for our healthy dinner. Even up till 11pm, we were still enjoying their meals, which is not too pricey.

I didn't like it that as an old customer, I had to be asked to wait for a staff to go and check if I took any drinks from the fridge. All that was needed was to take my word for it since you had my details. Taking a drink and saying I did not is a crime. For me, if I could put down N99,000 for a room, I should be able to pay for drinks or snacks if I needed them.

Dinner on Friday night was the very best in a long time. Started off with goat meat pepper soup(I love my meat tender, you know the kind that won’t stress you and that way the ingredients is usually soaked in and tastes heavenly) Then I had my 1st course, and I was quite full I couldn’t keep up but it was worth it, so very worth it

This hotel was formerly known as 'Southern Sun' Hotel along Kingsway road, Ikoyi by Aromire Street and I didn't actually know of the change of name to 'Mövenpick' until I recently had to attend a workshop in the building. There's actually ample parking space in the compound. The environment is quite calm and serene on the inside but given its location along the busy road leading up to NNPC there tends to be sounds of blaring horns and passing vehicles but generally the environment is decent with a working ATM and courteous attendants from the gate to the reception. Their buffet menu is quite nice too with a wide variety of pleasant delicacies.

The staff were courteous, responsive and professional. They were also attentive and quick ro resolve issues. The food was good and the ambiance was cool. The toilets though need ro be cleaned more often and probably refurbished.

I went there for the lunch buffet, it was lovely, good spread and great variety, endless supply of juices and sparkling wines. It was a great experience. Will definitely be going back.

Hubby took me on a surprise birthday weekend getaway and it was lovely. There was a lovely cake waiting for me in the room thanks to the lady he spoke with for our reservations🙂. She was really sweet & helpful. We had to ask for her to tell her thank you personally when checking out. Our first nite was seafood buffet nite. Had a lovely dinner with huge freshly grilled prawns from the grill station in the restaurant. 2nd nite was stir fry nite. The grill station became a pasta station & pasta dishes were prepared fresh & as you wanted. I give service 3 stars, coz they got my order at the stations wrong, 2 out of 3 times & it took quite a while for us to get an extra towel. Mr Ernest, our server was quite nice. We stayed 2 nights. Ate their breakfast & dinner buffets. Staff is pleasant & courteous. Room was okay. The pillows were sooo soft. Sleep was bliss. Overall, not a bad experience at all.

The staff was incredibly respectful, attentive, and offered excellent service. One of our clients hosted a business meeting in the hotel's meeting room. Prior to the meeting, we relaxed poolside, thoroughly enjoying the ambiance.

Located in Ikoyi, service here is good, the food is delicious as well, the room is spacious and decent but it’s a pretty old hotel, not well maintained, they still use rugs in the room and it has a horrible smell due to water in it probably, the air conditioners needs some cleaning up. If they can fix this small problems then it would be a perfect place

The hotel staff is really great, helpful and friendly, especially the security team. The breakfast is really great with a big selection of really good food. The rooms are standard and comfortable, the showers are great. Internet/wifi is good enough to do video calls, and normal work from the hotel. The pool area could have been bigger. Uber transport usually picks up within 5 minutes. Close to the airport as well. I stayed here for a few weeks, and and overall it was really grear.

Top tier ambience for those looking for that classy feel. The prices are from ~60,000 NGN per night. The receptionist gives you the option of opening a tab that'll be charged to your room and so you don't need to take a card about. Each room has a carded room key which also serves to light up/shut down the room. Each room is fitted with the standards; a TV, air conditioning, a leather chair & table, beautiful view with un-automated window curtains. The bathroom (I had one with a shower - I don't know if there are rooms with tubs) is stocked with shower and shampoo gels just as the mini fridge is stocked with drinks (alcoholic & non- alcoholic). Did I mention the super comfy beds? To die for with pillows (for the ladies!). Valet parking and security for your rides. A solid 4.8/5.0

For me it's one of the best three hotels to stay in Lagos. Stayed for 14 days and my stay was memorable. Breakfast is fantastic and the rooms are quite comfortable. Try and register as a member if you'll make future visits to Lagos and get bookings at membership rates.

The hotel is very well situated, the hotel staff is simply amazing. Starting from the reception going all the way to the management at the top. At check-in, there were some challenges with my room the entire team responded to support and sort out the issues. The food is great and generally is a good hotel for business. The only area that requires a bit of attention is the room, feels a bit old. Other than that everything else was great! Thank you Movenpick Team 🙏

The 2 stars I gave overall is more for the pleasant staff than my overall experience at the hotel. I arrived on a rainy day and none of the door men had an umbrella 🏖️ for incoming guests good thing I came with mine. The swivel doors at the entrance was broken, leaving only the side door for entrance and exit. On getting in the reception area had a musky smell which could have been helped with some air fresheners. The front desk staff was cheerful and friendly so that's a good thing. I booked an executive room and got situated on the ,3rd floor, sadly in a room which had the intercom phone not working properly, the beddings old discoloured and the bed frame outrightly peeling from aging. This hotel has potential no doubt but clearly the ownership have no interest in bringing it up to standard. Save for the pleasant staff it's a comfortable 1 star rating experience I am glad to give .

Thank you Movenpick Lagos for a very warm welcome. The travel agent had not finalised payment on behalf of my office when I arrived however the lady at the front desk handled it all very professionally. It was all sorted by the next day. Spent 5 nights - very comfortable overall and the staff were very helpful and polite. I forgot some items when I checked out and had to send a friend a week later to collect. To my surprise, the clothing was well kept and had been professionally laundered. Thank you

The entire experience was okay. The staff were welcoming and nice. The restaurant provides a buffet service for breakfast, lunch and dinner with different themes (seafood day, etc). You can also order room service. There are days where live music is also available at the restaurant. The only issue I had was that some of the food tasted bland to me.

Rich, tasty display at the buffet section, much to offer. We particularly enjoyed the salads with a good platter of cheeses and the stir-fry noodles. Nice, quiet atmosphere too,not at all busy or crowded, just a few fellow diners on this quiet Monday early afternoon. Not bad at all!

I lost my wallet and traced it to when I had Buffet Lunch at Movenpick Hotel Ikoyi Lagos Nigeria. I am very impressed that one of the waiters saw the wallet and submitted it to the Security Post. I was given my wallet back by the Security Post insisting on a video to me by the person I sent to pick it up, in order to verify that it was indeed me. This vindicated the waiters that they don't steal. Any property you mistakenly leave there is kept for you at the Security Post. Also I love the Buffet food. I had lunch at Federal Palace Hotel Lagos and the difference is so clear. Movenpick Food and Restaurant service is far better and is Top Notch.

I found the Sunday breakfast buffet just average. Disappointed by the quality of the bacon and the absence of pork sausages. The Americano coffee was good though, service was attentive and the price was lower than I had expected.

We had a training session in this location. The meeting room was really nice and easily took 45 people. Projector and cooling were convenient and support from the team was good. The food was really good as well. Face masks are a must. Temperature checks and sanitizer use are compulsory before admission into the location. Good parking. The staff are very courteous, helpful and professional. I'll recommend any day.

Stayed here for a night and loved the hotel. The staff were so warm and friendly and made my stay very comfortable. The hotel is older so it’s not as “shiny” as the newer ones coming up, but it does have its charm. The only issue I had was with the cleanliness of the bathroom- it seemed like some things were overlooked (photo attached). We were also only given 1 bath towel which I found interesting since the reservation was made for two- again could have been an oversight. The room service service was fantastic and the meal was so tasty with great portion sizes. I’d recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a nice, quiet place in Ikoyi.

This hotel has potentials. Let down a little bit by the check-in staff. Not so coordinated. Room was fine nice decor and big TV but AC was a little noisy. Bathroom and toilet clean. Shower was spot on. Breakfast actually better than I expected even better than Federal Palace Hotel. Chef made up for the suya dish that my wife ordered one evening by freshly prepared another one even those she was already full because she ate from my dish but it was a nice gesture by the chef for insisting to prepare a fresh one. Good customer service. Would I stay there again? Yes, because it is worthy of a 5* rating (A UK 3* hotel equivalent , same brackets as the Holiday Inns) hopefully the reception staff will be more friendly and better coordinated next time. Food, I fully enjoyed my dishes. Well done!

Southern sun hotel is a really hassle free hotel... car park is quite large, the staffs are well coordinated, from the security personnels to the front desk people down to the waiters and cleaners. The environment is very serene and every corner inside this hotel is very cold, talking about well functioning air conditioners. There’s a swimming pool also. Had a taste of their potato chips and chicken... was quite crunchy for a fresh potato, Chapman was good as well. Wasn’t impressed when I had their fried rice tho... the grilled chicken that came with the rice was really tasty but then the fried rice was almost tasteless. I had to eat both the fried rice and chicken together just to get a better taste. Breakfast is free here if you’re lodged... In all I prefer their buffet service... tastes way better than when a single order is made.😂 I enjoyed my spaghetti with sausage, fish fillet and fresh orange juice. I almost forgot about the mini bar... it’s a tiny fridge that contains different brands of soft drinks and alcoholic drinks in very tiny bottles with ridiculous prices. I’d advice you bring along your drinks if you are into alcohol... 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️ It’s a cool place to relax and rejuvenate while in Lagos. It’s worth every penny.

Lovely hotel, has all the essentials required of a hotel, a spa, a gym, a pool, family rooms, room service, conference rooms, complimentary breakfast, large parking space, a restaurant with variety of meals and lots more. The rooms are very clean, conducive and provide a great view of the city. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and professional with attending to our requests. Located in a prime location of Ikoyi and easily accessible.

ALL THE FLOORS HAVE IDENTICAL ROOMS. That may seem obvious for a hotel, but having being there a few times now, it feels odd. You would imagine that the higher you go, the better the rooms, WRONG! The rooms are not soundproof and you can easily hear people of other rooms. The diner allows meals at night, a buffet in fact, but they are hit or miss. Sometimes they would be amazing other times they just are despicable. However, the room service food is ALWAYS perfect though quite expensive. Security is not the best. ANYONE CAN WALK UP TO YOUR ROOM FROM OUTSIDE THE BUILDING. The elevator does not require any access card to use. Can be cool to have a visitor with that lapse security arrangement but not if a nefarious person decides to take advantage. Location. It’s in prime ikoyi location. Overall, good, but should do better.

Well, I didn't get to go into the rooms because it was a corporate event I attended. Now the hall used was quite compact and cozy. The ambiance around the lobby & reception area was just perfect. The receptionist were exceptional. Large enough parking space. The experience was worth the while.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are very decent. The breakfast buffet is the best 🌍. I’m not a breakfast person, but I won’t miss breakfast here for anything. Pricing is alittle high but during the holidays with the discount it’s more reasonable.

The rooms are obviously well fitted and stocked plus I know their meals are well done but the front desk service was horrible. Neither of the 3 Nigerians got even a smile from any of the four staff behind the glass wall until a Caucasian showed up. Their check-in process was unnecessarily long and disjointed. Throughly disappointed in the service.

  • 4/5 Sam S. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms are decent, the staff are very courteous, there is plenty of parking spots. However, the gym is far below standard of what is expected of a hotel of this class. The dumbbells in the gym are very crude. Only two treadmills are available. The meals are overtly expensive compared to similar hotels around. The variety of menu is poor compared to similar hotels around.

Southern Sun is lovely. Their services work and that itself is a relief. The rooms are fitted with gadgets to make your stay as comfortable as it can and the staff try to be out of your way as much as they can. They make their services work so you can't complain. The food is lovely. In all, you'll get the value of your money.

A phenomenal stay. The food and attentive service from the staff was exceptional! When my husband's drink was not up to par, they made him a special drink, and it was on the house. It was pricey, but well worth it. We will definitely come again.

This is currently my favorite hotel to stay in. I have stayed here a total of 5times and I’ve loved it every time. I’m currently here and the service is still superb. Breakfast is delish. The only problem is that you can’t swim in private as people dining in the restaurant can see you. And the restaurant is almost always busy . Overall it’s a great place to stay in .

Overall, I enjoyed the hotel but I think they could do better by offering complimentary drinks in the room's fridge. Also, the internet is not as good as I would have liked. Loved the kettle and heater in the room. It was a nice touch. In all, their service is top-notch.

Very nice and homely place to have lunch with family. Luv the variety of foods, and drinks, and it's ambience. Kudos to the guy who plays the piano. It would be nice if guests could at least acknowledge him. My 2yr old baby actually told him "GREAT JOB": That made his day. He had my baby watch him play. He was happy and am sure appreciated the gesture. Happy Easter to you all
