Yawase Kannon Temple

Tourist attraction Buddhist temple

👍 It was a Kannon temple with a proper approach. There are many people who come to get water, and we have cold well water. The main hall is small and the Kannon statue is also small, but it has a cozy and intimate impression. People often mention water, Kannon, temple, road, small, Yago, people, sect, private, house,

A temple that looks like a private house when you enter through a narrow road? A place that must have flourished in the Showa era There were quite a few people who seemed to be regulars who came to draw the well water, which is said to be good for health. A small souvenir shop? When I go to the back Stray cat? A gardening store with lots of there is. It's a very minor tourist destination.

Yago Kannon, located in Inazawa City, Aichi Prefecture, is famous for its water that is effective in curing illnesses. Many people come from far away to pray for the water here. Yago Kannon is not a temple, but a so-called lay person. The Kannon statue, which has been enshrined by the Hashimoto family for generations, is said to be effective against various ailments, and over time, pilgrims have come from not only nearby areas but also from far away. The sect is Zen sect, Rinzai sect Myoshinji sect.

    病気平癒御水で有名です。のんびりお参りにピッタリ。参道の草餅五平餅お団子も美味しく、植木の産地でもあるので草木の苗も良いものが買えます

Rather than a temple, it seems that the Kannon statue that was enshrined in a private house gradually became famous. Even though it is a weekday, worshipers come one after another to draw the sacred water. And the signboard cat? He was eating his meal leisurely. To the east of Yago Kannon, there is a small temple town, which retains the good atmosphere of the Showa era.

The temple has a gate that looks like a private house, so be careful when passing by. A souvenir shop right in front of the temple is a landmark ✅ There is a chozuya and an incense lantern on the grounds. Incense candles are sold at the honey shop next door🕯 In Monzen-cho, there are small souvenir shops and a flower and tree market that is a specialty of Inazawa 🌷🪴 On the west side of the temple, there is a large garden called "Yago no Mori" where seasonal flowers such as plums, cherry blossoms, sunflowers, and cosmos are planted, and there is a biotope where you can see fireflies.

Visited several times in October 2023. There is a garden shop in front of the gate, selling a wide variety of seedlings, from fruit trees to garden trees. Although they are small, if you can plant them yourself, you can buy seedlings for less than 1,000 to 2,000 yen, which is cheaper than ordering them from a home center or garden store. The parking lot is on the northwest side of Yago Kannon. At first glance, I couldn't tell if the entrance was just a small path or a private house, so I wandered all the way to the east side. Before the coronavirus, there were quite a lot of people, and there was a separate parking lot next to Kokubunji, and I remember entering from the road on the east side, but it seems like there is no longer a parking lot there. I wonder if the number of worshipers has decreased after the coronavirus, but I don't know if there are fewer people to begin with or just by chance. You can worship while looking at the garden trees and smelling the calming scent of incense sticks. It's a quiet and relaxing place. The well within the shrine grounds is drinkable, and plastic bottles for drawing water from the well are also available for sale. Although it was autumn, the water temperature was lukewarm, so I guess the well is not very deep. In fact, the water for washing hands is cold. It's cold and lukewarm for tap water, so I think both are well water, which is strange.

On November 6th, I left home at 7:30 for my 510th cycling trip, aiming for Ichinomiya 138 Twin Towers. Drive easily on Route 22 side road. It seems that the Aichi Prefecture High School Relay Tournament is being held on the cycling road around the Twin Towers, and a group of people wearing uniforms with the names of high schools in the prefecture are slowly warming up. You can catch glimpses of families and high school students all along the cycling road, taking positions to cheer. Autumn sports are here! Go around the Kiso River Nakasu Kawajima Town outer circumferential road twice, and once around the river environment paradise outer circumferential road to Gifu Chusetsu Bridge. Head south on the Nagara River cycling road. Go to Yaase Kannon via Sunomata Ichiya Castle, Roadside Station Claire Hirata, Nanno Ohashi Bridge, and Umagai Ohashi Bridge. Yago Kannon is a Kannon temple located in Yago-cho, Inazawa City, Aichi Prefecture. It is enshrined in a private house rather than a temple. There is a small temple town with restaurants and souvenir shops. Yaai Kannon is famous as a Kannon whose water that springs from the well in the garden has miraculous powers. The well water is said to be effective against all kinds of illnesses, and many people come from outside the prefecture to worship it. Each worshiper brings their own container, such as a bottle or plastic bottle, to draw water from a well within the precincts and pray. The water that has received prayers is said to be effective against skin diseases. The sect is the Myoshinji sect of the Rinzai sect. The principal image is the Eleven-faced Kanzeon Bodhisattva. Arrived home at 13:50. It was a refreshing and refreshing cycling trip of 6 hours and 20 minutes with a distance of 103km. P.S. As I drove along the embankment road after passing through Sunomata Ichiya Castle, I caught a glimpse of a rural landscape with pink cosmos in full bloom. I have attached. I received peace of mind. On March 5th, on the way back from the Aichi Prefecture Ueki Center Plum Festival, my wife and I stopped by Owari Kokubunji and Yago Kannon to worship. I've attached a few photos.

Although it is written as Yago Kannon, it is actually a rare tourist spot where Kannon is enshrined inside a private house. The water from the well is said to be effective against all kinds of illnesses.

Parking lot costs 250 yen. I went there on January 2nd, and there were far fewer worshipers than before, and there were fewer shops open, so it felt deserted. What caught my attention the most were the restaurants near the shrine. It was definitely crowded in the early afternoon hours, and the staff seemed to be busy, but the customer service was extremely poor. He doesn't smile and speaks poorly. It was a shame that the staff members were so nervous with each other. I thought it was because there were no stores to compete with. The most important dishes I tried were Chinese soba, miso oden, miso kushikatsu, and dengaku, and they were all delicious. Finally, on the way to the parking lot, there was a new cafe. When you order coffee (450 yen), the beans are ground in a mill and then brewed. There was also an eat-in space, and the coffee and staff were wonderful, allowing me to purify the negative emotions I felt earlier. This store is highly recommended.

    大通りから脇道に入って進むと、一見、普通の民家と思われる門に「矢合観音」と書かれていました。ここの井戸水は万病に効くと、江戸時代から人気とのことです。お祭りされている観音さまは十一面観世音菩薩さまです。

I have been going to get water from Kannon for about 50 years. When I was a child, I rode my bicycle from Nakamura Ward in Nagoya with my mother (was she made to run? lol) It's not as lively as it was back then. I can feel that they are trying to regain their vitality. Right now, my daughter and I go by car to receive water and prayers for healing. I've been living for half a century, or 80 years since my grandparents' generation. Those who believe are in the spirit of... I am grateful that I can go to Kannon.
