I used to get takeaway mostly and i have dined in once as well and the food is good here. This place has good pizza, desserts (best lemon tart i have had so far) and snacks. We even got my birthday cake from here once. This would be my go to place if i am in this area

The place is quite spacious and interesting, with a concept of Restaurant along with a library. I did find families with kids and school and college students, sitting with books there. Be in story books or study courses, keep it on while munching your favourite. There is a wide collection of books along with a wide spread of food menu for all. This is the 1st time i visited the Egmore branch and the ambience was pretty cozy and well crowded as well for a weekday. The staff are very welcoming, warm with fast service. They maintain a very friendly relationship with the customers. They end up sharing a special bond. The service was pretty good. Coming to the food, we ended up ordering quite a lot of food, i even missed taking a pic of most of them. The drinks were fresh and yumm but seemed a bit pricey, the fish, rice, toasties, pasta, pizzas, coffee and was decent enough, some of it was yummier than the other, pizza was pretty good though. Keeping the crowd and location in mind, it is fair enough in regards to the pricing. I can always give it a visit for its books, ambience and pizza! I hope my experience helps! Happy Eating!!

Everything - food, service, ambience was in the region of average to slightly above average. Maybe because we were there on a busy Sunday evening! But still was expecting it to be a little better. But my biggest disappointment was on the salad of all the things!!! The menu card said watermelon jalapeño cheese salad but what I got had watermelon, lettuce and mayonnaise! Such a let down! 😔😔😔 Other items like I mentioned was just ok.

We are Americans visiting southern India & our tour guide brought us here. Absolutely delicious cafe food, we had a pizza, fish & chips, and pasta. Everyone was beyond happy. We also ordered a juice, coffee & latte. Absolutely delicious, you can see it being made fresh in the kitchen, and the owner/manager was the kindest most attentive woman. Good meaning behind the shop too- I’m trying to convince my group to stop again before we leave!

Very convenient location, I was at VFS and this café is three minutes’ walk from there. I ordered grilled chicken with rice and a fresh watermelon juice. I absolutely enjoyed my meal although the watermelon juice had seeds crushed into it which wasn’t as per my liking, perhaps I should’ve expressed that in the beginning. The staff are very courteous and accommodating. Will definitely visit again.

Visited recently and found the place cozy and ambient. Loved the food and service. (A year ago- Extremely poor customer service. Took long time to give food. Asked three staffs about the bill but took another half an hour to get the bill. Food was good. Had chicken carbonara and chicken skillet gravy. Both were quite good. Mashed potatoes were a disappointment though.)

I tried this franchise in Gopalapuram and they were quite impressive. After finding the same franchise in Egmore I wanted to give it a try and it was not a bad decision . The place had a decent crowd and the restaurant is very spacious with good seating arrangements. They have valet parking . The staff is courteous and quick to take orders and serve them. The food is good and won't disappoint you, keeping in mind the price they are quoting in the menu the place looks pocket friendly. The quantity is sufficient. Good place to have a quick bite and one can spend some good quality time with friends and family.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Writer's Cafe in Egmore, and I must say that the experience was nothing short of delightful. From the ambiance to the exceptional food, this cafe exceeded my expectations in every way. Let's start with the highlights of my dining experience. The English Breakfast Platter was simply outstanding. It featured all the classic components of a traditional English breakfast, including perfectly cooked bacon, sausages, eggs, grilled tomatoes, and toast. Each item was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. It was a hearty and satisfying way to start the day. Another standout dish was the Lemon Sticky Chicken. The chicken was tender, succulent, and had a beautiful balance of flavors. The zesty lemon sauce added a refreshing tang to the dish, making it a delightful combination of sweet and savory. The Chicken Pizza was another winner. The thin crust was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, providing the perfect base for the generous toppings of tender chicken, gooey cheese, and fresh vegetables. It was a flavorful and well-executed pizza that left me craving for more. Now, let's talk about desserts. The Death by Chocolate Cake was a chocolate lover's dream come true. It was rich, decadent, and incredibly indulgent. Every bite was a blissful explosion of chocolate flavors, and the moist texture of the cake made it even more delightful. Finally, the Danish Croissant deserves a special mention. It was flaky, buttery, and filled with a delicious almond paste. The combination of the crisp pastry and the sweet filling was heavenly. It was a perfect treat for a light snack or a quick pick-me-up. Aside from the exceptional food, Writer's Cafe in Egmore also boasts a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The decor is reminiscent of a quaint European cafe, with bookshelves filled with literary classics and comfortable seating arrangements. It's an ideal place to relax, unwind, and enjoy a delicious meal while immersing yourself in a good book. In conclusion, my dining experience at Writer's Cafe in Egmore was a memorable one. The English Breakfast Platter, Lemon Sticky Chicken, Chicken Pizza, Death by Chocolate Cake, and Danish Croissant were all outstanding in taste and presentation. The cafe itself exuded a charming and relaxing ambiance. If you're looking for a place to savor delectable food and enjoy a cozy atmosphere, Writer's Cafe should be at the top of your list.

A must visit restaurant in the town. The menu is typically chinese and italian, but don't worry you get other continents too. I loved the interior. My ordered food was a simple omlette and south Indian Coffee. It was heavenly. You will feel lke owning the space when you dine inside. Fine dining is an apt word for this outlet! My 5star ratings to Writer's Cafe! Dr Rajan

Food was average. Mac and cheese were good but the chilli cheese fries had a sauce that wasn't very cheesy. You cannot even see the sauce in the picture. The black ebony was really good. The service was great. We also had the tricolour pizza. It was okay.

Amazing food with a compact menu. Right on the budget. Pleasant ambience and good service. The pizza and the drinks(berry ice tea) were topnotch. They're known for their in-restaurant small libraries. The downside is that this particular branch has an open kitchen, the fumes accumulate the place.

One of the popular cafe in chennai where you can enjoy food and chit chat with your friends and family. The ambience was good and there is a small book stall near the entrance. The service was good. We ordered peach ice tea and Macchiato both were quite strong so could not enjoy much . We had fish fingers, chicken fry bits and chicken stroganoff with butter rice and everything was very yummy. They have a wide variety of dessert options in display which one can go and select. Overall a nice cafe to enjoy

Came here to Writers Cafe on a weekend for lunch and was a bit underwhelmed with the experience. The place was really crowded with long waiting lines, which was still ok since we weren’t in a hurry. But what wasn’t ok was the noise - the place is really very noisy and the atmosphere completely killed the vibe of a quiet writers cafe I was expecting. The staff was under immense pressure to catch up with all the orders and ours was forgotten in the process. Had to chase the staff multiple times to get our food. The pesto pasta was more like noodles in a soup and tasted nothing like pesto. Guess I should have followed the crowd and ordered the breads which looked much more interesting. The desserts were really good though, definitely worth trying. The team running this place has a really inspiring story and a great mission, so I would definitely come back to give them another try, but maybe on a week day.

Tried Tricolor Flammkuchen, Veg Pinchos here and they're good. Pinchos weren't served with sticks/skewers as expected though. Prices are very reasonable. Service is great too.

The cafe is more crowded than usual during lunch but later in the evening its more leisure and free. The food here is good and especially the flat bread pizza and the blueberry crumble was phenomenal. The staffs are courteous. We recieved the soups AFTER the starters which was quite a bummer but overall the dining experience was very good. Highly recommended it for a group of friends who want to spend time in a pocket friendly yet nice place!

Dined here with a couple of friends for lunch and loved the food. We ordered Moroccan chicken spring roll and teriyaki chicken for starters and they were really delicious. For the main course, we had pasta with chicken salami, and the flammenkuchen, both were good. The boom burger felt like a letdown as it was quite bland and there was merely anything boom about it. The drinks were all good. The hot chocolate is a strong recommendation, would love it even more if the portioning was increased a little. We ended the meal with ice cream and they were super unique flavours and tasted brilliant! The service was lovely and so was the ambience.

They provide employment opportunity for less fortunate and physically challenged ppl. Very appreciable 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 5/5 Food (2.5/5) Apart from that, food is below average and the place is full most of the times( I wonder how). Ice creams were the worst. Comparatively pizza was good. Onion rings and the sauce is only Instagram worthy and waste of money. Please improve the quality of food. Lemon mint cooler not worth for rs160 Can be visited once or twice..affordable option to spend time with friends. That’s it!!

A good pocket friendly restaurant. The staff are very friendly and courteous. I've been here on multiple occasions and the good is pretty good. On my last visit, the food was not properly prepared - the pepper mushroom was over salty, the Spanish omelette seemed a little hard (maybe overcooked) and the mac cheese was not as cheesy as before. The toasties are really good. They could also improve the quantity of starters. The desserts were very good. We felt that post covid they have improved the dessert segment by miles. However the menu can also be refreshed a bit.

Located on a busy road. Cramped roads to be honest. Although in the heart of the city. Limited Car Parking space available ( 4-5 cars) Decent ambience and noisy if it’s occupied by (60-70) percent. Starters are usually good and okayish. Onion rings is the best one possible out of all. Rest of all the items are average. The quality of the items are completely hidden under the heading of economy. The staff are least knowledgeable in service and suggestions etc You can avoid coffees, pasta , many deserts. Very very few and good to consume. The prices are economical. For people who choose quality, it’s definitely not a good experience. 2/10 items are good and decent here. They have got a lot to improve on many areas. Cuisines to service and pricing etc. Weekends and evening are very much crowded due to the economic pricing. Nothing much to remember. Except the pet that most writer cafe outlets have a book store attached which is a thing I personally enjoy. Hope the review helps few.

You know that feel when you enter a cafe and don't feel like taking your phone out because you just enjoy the ambience, walk around the book store, get confused on what fine pastries to order from the counter, customise your pizza, pasta and before you could think of anything else, food is right there in front of you! That is Writer's Cafe - been to the Egmore branch n number of times | Their service is quick and top notch just like their food! Car parking is bit of a problem during weekends but that doesn't concern at all once you visit this place, there's no disliking it ❤️

Has become my recent favourite- whenever i get bored or feel like i wanna have something this is my go to place . Wish they have more soup options or atleast change other soup - I’m bored of cream of mushroom now . 1. Potato wedges is really nice 2. mango ice cream is amazing ( must try ) 3 . Chicken breast & potato mash was good 4. Pizza - thin crust, nice taste can actually give a try . Have tried many dishes here but currently have no photos One go to place with your friends , very reasonable price , worthy going .

Pls save your time and money guys!!! Had high hopes but ended up being let down. The service was slow and unfriendly. Several items on the menu were not available. Men's handwashing area was located on a different floor. The food was terrible, and the sandwich was overly sweet. The pizza was not cooked properly. I ended up vomiting the next day. The servers were not wearing masks. I would advise against visiting this place and wasting your time and money. It appears that many of the reviews may be fake.

This is also one of my favourite places to go very often. We were searching for a quick lunch place to munch on as we were very hungry and found this place situated right near to ethiraj college. I had ordered my favourite skillet chicken gravy with mash. It's a great combination of chicken and potato and it is a must try item. They have a variety of desserts and ice cream as well and those are also a must try item. I also tried the chicken lasagna for the first time and i felt it was mind blowing.

The staff followed all covid protocols and wore masks. We went as a group of 6. We couldn't find a table right away. Had to wait for more than half an hour. But a group of 4 can easily find a table right away. Both flammerkuchen and sticky lemon chicken were amazing. Chicken wings and l milkshakes tasted 'Okay'ish.

This place deserves 6 stars really...food, quality, portion, authenticity and service... everything is amazing! If you are non vegetarian, you won't be disappointed either with the Chicken Stroganoff and Fish & Chips. I have been eating here since a few days - it's across the street, opposite Presidency Club - and I haven't been bored one bit. And the vibe! Fantastic!

The pizza is too good.. this one was the regular one.. even their customized pizza is good.. the death by chocolate pastry was okayish .. the hot chocolate looked too tempting but sadly taste wise none of us liked .. the best part is their pricing and the relaxing ambience.. ✌️🌚
