Nice place. Enjoyed the steak, french dip sandwich and chicken sand. Great service.

Just stopped in gor a couple drinks before monster jam at lucas oil. Great service, poppin atmosphere, awesome locally brewed beers at a decent price. They have a cool decor sporting local sports greats. Go see them, its walking distance from the stadium. Oh and the food smelled great!!

The Tavern burger was very delicious. The kettle chips were great also. Had the soft pretzels and was glad we did. Highly recommended. Will come back.

Some friends wanted to go for lunch. I had never heard of them. So we went to the restaurant and it was nice. We went on a Thursday afternoon at 1pm. It was a little busy but not crowded. Enjoy the roast beef sandwich with chips. Very tasty and much to my stomach. The employees were very helpful and polite. Check them out sometime soon and see what happens for you.

Food was good. I got the steak and frites (waffle fries). Steak was extremely tender and had a good amount of fat but zero flavor. Almost like there was no seasoning on it at all. Old fashioned drinks were well made and delicious.

Just not good service and they ruined the dining experience. We came in for a bite while we were in town for the FFA event. We chose this place due to it being close to the convention center and Lucas Oil Field and said "Family Friendly" . Upon entering we were stared at by the hostess and what I guess what the owner or a GM. Our server was pushy and rude to the point where I was ready to leave. I undertsand that servers are in high demand these days as i;m still in the industry for over 25 years and somethimes you keep what you can get just to have a warm body on the floor. I'm in over 40 establishments per week for my job and while the food was okay it was our server that just ruined everything.1st thing he said was " Lets get these orders in fast cause we are going to fill up" We didn't even have a chance to look at menu. I was ready to leave after he 1st came to the table but the kids were ready to eat? Yes Kids 4 and 8 years old. I went to the hostess stand to ask for a kids menu. Was informed that they didn't have one printed but our server could tell us what was offered. Then the server came and took our drink order and asked what we wanted and my wife asked about kids meals. This is where it got fun. Listen I understand that during peak times you streamline the menu to help with the crowds that are in town to make it easier on the overworked kitchen staff but really he had no idea what was offerered . We asked for Mac and cheese he said they didn;t have it but online it was offered, he said we have kids personal pizzas. Fine that would work, but then another table went by with mac and cheese on a tray. My kids saw it and asked what happened, I asked the lady who looked like a floor manager or bar manager and she said yeah we have Mac & Cheese. We then found out that they didn't have kids pizza and only a "Spicy Flatbread " pizza. Not sure that spicy goes well for kids. She said oh its not spicy at all, well we got it and guess what? They wouldn;t touch it cause it was spicy. Point is parents go where kids want to go, and a good fun kids menu drives traffic. My issue is this guy was huffing and puffing like we were taking his time. His section was not that busy as the other two servers had bigger sections that him. His his delivery of drinks and food was just rushed and not cool. When you in town and want to enjoy the city this place did not do a great job. I watched the other servers and saw how they smiled , laughed and joked with the tables they had. Our server was a guy with a man bun whi had a bunch of tattoos which is cool cause I'm covered as well. But I didn;t catch his name but the X-man tattoo is what I remember. Just not a good dining experience at all. The folks need to remember that they are the face of the restaurant and that is what the customer rememebers . Maybe he was working a 3rd double in a row or something but as a dad with kids I wish we could ha veelsewhere were we were not rushed to get in and out. At the end he came by and dropped the check and left. But it's cool , they will never see us again as we wee just in town just wanted to warn others with little ones.

Food was delicious, service was prompt. We ordered 10$-15$ mixed drinks, and my whiskey sour was almost entirely sour mix. Had several people taste and confirm. My wife ordered a 12 dollar cup of wine and it was less than 3 ounces. Will most likely not be returning next time I visit.

We loved our first visit. Brittany was exceptional. Food was great. Our group of girls catching up - and our server was attentive and helpful. This place is a gem and we'll be back!

Stopped in before the Colts game on 10/29/23. We were told there was nothing available even at the bar. A customer came downstairs and said there's plenty of room upstairs so we sat at the bar upstairs. Service and food was great! Enjoyed hanging out with other Colts fans!

Long review warning. Stick around, it’s worth it. We arrived at 7, plenty of time to get a good dinner. First thing the waitress (Linda) tells us is “We don’t have steak so order something else” not hi, or how are you… We asked if that was just the prime rib or the Flatiron steak as well. She says there’s no steak. We asked for a few more minutes and she went away with our beverage choices. She returned with water for me and an IPA for my husband and says “Oh, I was wrong, no prime rib but you can get the other” That should have told us all we needed to know but we were already here so, whatever let’s eat. I ask if they have grapefruit juice to make a drink and she says no, just grape soda. I say no thanks, I’ll stick with water. He ordered, I order. Food was delicious, even though his rare steak was medium well. Only issue was cold waffle fries which she happily microwaved to get warm. As we start to eat, a drink is brought by a different server and sat at our table. A few minutes goes by and Linda walks by and says oh I found some grapefruit in the kitchen so I just chose which vodka to use. 😳 Fast forward again, dinner is done, bill is received (fries removed- not at our request) Bill is $73.58. I give her $100 and she brings me $23 in change. I ask if she made the change out was there a cashier? She said well I don’t have change and I’m busy. I asked so you know you shorted us? She goes away and comes back, now huffy “what do I owe you” I do the math FOR her and what would have been a $20 tip was cut in half. Why try to scam your customers that are about to tip you? Sit in ANYONE else’s section of you go! Food was good - pricey, but good!

Visited 4/23/22 The name “tavern” is misleading but also has similarities of a tavern. They try to portray a higher class of food than “bar food” but lack the follow thru of a higher end restaurant making “tavern” apply. The place wasn’t very busy. Yet we was there over an hour. The macaroni and cheese was delicious! The pretzel was soft but had loads of salt. We always forget to ask for pretzels without salt. The cheese was warm and went well with the pretzel. I ordered the fish n chips, I asked for the fish to be grilled rather than deep fried. The “chef” said no problem. When it came out it was satisfying to the eyes. It was when I started eating the fish when I realized I made a huge mistake. The overwhelming amount of salt ruined the flavor. It was perfectly cooked too! The slaw wasn’t overbearing with liquid, it was good. Same with the fries, soft, seasoned well. Don’t let the above skew your decision of ordering the Fish and chips without breading. You might mention to use no salt or less salt. Some chefs like to over season food… the one cooking tonight did! Wrapping up our evening we debated on dessert but the waitress didn’t upsell or ask if we wanted dessert. The desserts wasn’t on the menu but they had about 6 different ones. Carrot cake, tiramisu, cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake, to name a few. The place needs a bit of cleaning around the plants. Lots of dust. The areas the servers worked (pictured) was cluttered, drinks set next to chemicals, and just messy. They need more area to work. The closet next to the station is also disarrayed and disorganized. Overall for the location and the food, it was good. I was going with a 3 star but the wife said 4. We’d visit again.

I've been to Tavern On South a handful of times over the years, and it is usually just an okay experience. The food is uninspiring, but edible. They have a nice bar area and good beer selection. The parking situation is a mess. The lot right next to the restaurant is small and fills up quickly. The lots in the area by the hotel are being constantly watched and will tow your car. One time for lunch I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. Before I took a bite I cut my sandwich in half and it was raw in the middle! I had to send it back to the kitchen and they provided a properly cooked sandwich. I understand that this may have been a fluke, but I've given Tavern On South a fair shake on several occasions and I have decided that there are many better places to eat or have a beer in Indy.

Went with a group from work. Our server was fantastic! She was very friendly and accommodating. I like the atmosphere and the restaurant vibe. I had the bison burger and fries. It was mediocre. The appetizers were great. We had smoked spinach dip, buffalo cauliflower and the loaded fries. I liked it enough and other meals were enjoyed so I’d return but wouldn’t do the Bison.

I always like this place but don't get to it often enough. Had the smoked artichoke dip & the smoked wings. Both really good. Nice selection of adult beverages. There's a nice outdoor seating area. Busy but not overcrowded & noisy. Good service.

We went here before attending a concert downtown. Great Drink Specials Daily. The food was awesome. The portions are very generous. Try the wings. The best in the city of Indianapolis.

High quality food and drinks with a down-to-earth feel. About 12 beers on tap and plenty of IPAs if that’s your thing. The wings and the waffle fries were amazing. Bartender was very friendly and made helpful recommendations. Great experience!

The food was bad. I don't know how you mess up ribs and walleye so badly. The ribs were tough and the flavor was odd. The walleye had an odd flavor but great texture. The pita bread with the artichoke dip tasted like the napkin it was brought to us on. We left and was sick to our stomach the rest of the night.

Ordered the Candied Bacon Burger and slaw to go. NOT worth it, at all. The side slaw portion comes in a roughly 8oz cup, if that because it was only half way full. So essentially it was a tablespoons worth of slaw. The burger was nothing special, quite plain. I'd bet that the bacon was microwave bacon as well, figured for a $14 sandwich I'd get the real deal. Nothing to write home about, shame because Indianapolis has so many good spots to eat.... this just ain't one of them.

My bison burger was not cooked how I requested (as rare as possible), but they stated it was bc the meat was smoked before cooked... It wasn't hot when I got it. That being said, it was delicious. The waiter was friendly, and attentive. Atmosphere was relaxed and fun.

Good place for casual meal or family dinner. We went on a Saturday night. Wasn't crowded. Service was little slow, buy very friendly. Food was ok. I had burger and it was well cooked. Someone else had the curry and didn't like it.

Excellent service! Great food! I was so impressed with the reservation service I received on the phone. I requested a window table for a larger party and that’s exactly what we were given. Parking was very convenient and free while eating at the restaurant.

This is one of my favorites for lunch an if you want a place to watch my favorite team, Go Colts!!! My good friend Linda works here with her hair rocking the team colors. ;) She's one of the best servers trained by the greatest in Crystal! Thanks be to God for such a beautiful establishment for fine dining. Thanks Steve I'll definitely be there for lunch sometime soon.

Good service Clean, fast & friendly The fish & chips we're really good. I especially like the fresh french fries. The bartender made a custom lemonade for me which was delicious. I will definitely go back & recommend this place #downtownindy

We came with a party of 4 on an event weekend with no reservation. They got us seated immediately with our lovely server, Mara. She was very attentive, friendly, FUNNY, and all around a great time. She made our busy day dinner experience a joy, on top of some wonderful food. Highly recommended!

Our Board needed a place to have a meeting and this was a great place. The front area is under glass and the tables were spread out nicely. They had a bourbon special discount so I was able to try a couple I hadn't had. The menu has item for everyone. their brussels sprouts appetizer was fabulous. I had the beef tip burrito which was very tasty. I've had the mac & cheese before and it is great also. I'll be back. Our group is having our year-end banquet upstairs later this fall. Check it out if you need a party space.

Fun and lively pub with multiple levels terrace, bar seats and tables. High ceiling is a feature. Service is good. Food, on most selections are also good. Some mismatches on side orders.

This was one of our favorite places before the pandemic. Delaying a birthday dinner for a year brought us back here tonight. Although some of our menu favorites are gone now, the food and service were still first class.
