The monument was constructed to symbolize the unity of the Pakistani people. It is dedicated to the people of Pakistan who sacrificed their "today" for a better "tomorrow". Its elevation makes the monument visible from across the Islamabad-Rawalpindi metropolitan area and is a popular tourist destination.

Another best places to visit in Pakistan and top things to do in Islamabad. It is a national monument and a heritage museum, it was built to show the unity amongst the people of Pakistan. It has shaped like a blooming flower and is visible from far away due to its elevation. The monument covers several features that describe an idea of Pakistan, for example its four biggest petals represent the four provinces of Pakistan.

A must see place if you're in Islamabad. The monument tells the story of Pakistan through detailed relief status on the wings of the monument. It's an impressive building. I saw it at night and lit up it's quite beautiful.

If you are in Islamabad. This place is worth visiting. I didn’t visit the museum. But the test was awesome. The history is interesting. The views are spectacular! The crowd is as little irritating at times!

A nice place to visit, whether it being for the views or for wanting to learn more about the history of Pakistan. When visiting the monument itself, make sure to pay attention to the smaller details that are carved into the sculpture. There is also a smaller viewpoint behind the monument, so make sure not to miss that either!

A lovely open square with the signature architecture. It is a pity that I went there during the daytime cause the panoramic view would be more stunning at night with the well laid out lighting.

A good place for a day out. About 45 mins away after exit from kallar kahar motorway. Road is just ok with multiple erosions. Parking place is sufficient. Not suitable for wheel chair bound persons. There is no place for dining here even snacks are not available. Otherwise very photogenic place. Currently well maintained with reasoable cleanliness.

A must visit place in Islamabad and offers exceptional views. The forest surrounding the monument and the architecture of the monument combined adds to the joy of visiting this place. However, for anyone with difficulty in walking might not be able to climb up the stairs to see the monument from the top. The area, I believe, had tickets to visit but we were let in free. Also, there are washrooms there and sitting area where you can sit and enjoy your time with family. They also took enough care to have water dispenser for drinking. One of the best places in Islamabad to visit with family

Wish I could give it 6 stars. My favorite place in Islamabad. The drive up shakarparian is scenic and calm. The monument is nominally priced. The trees along the side are beautiful. The monument itself is amazing. The artwork and poetry all along the mural is fantastic. At night, the monument is another level of beautiful. Could not recommend it enough.

Just a really beautiful monument, so elegantly and somehow futuristically designed and sits atop of a great view of the city. There is a viewing deck just below the monument, which is another great area to relax and look at the busy city ahead. This is perfect for a sunrise/sunset view. It’s great to see locals here have a public space to sit and relax, spend time with friends and family. It can be very busy, depending on the time and day of visit. However, it is a large space as well and you should be able to find an area where you can relax.

Ten years passed since the air blue plane crashed in margalla hills near Islamabad and 152 lives were lost. The monument has a great value for the families of the victims of this air crash as well for the nation as a remembrance of this tragedy. No doubt the monument was a great initiative and very nicely set up but over time its condition has become dilapidated. The concerned authorities must take immediate action for its maintenance and atleast for cleaning at the earliest. Pakistani tourists are requested to please learn to respect our national heritage and assets.

I love this place. It is built in the Musharraf period, the Pakistani monument is elegant and consists of four large petals and three small petals. The large petals symbolize the four major provinces of Pakistan, and the small petals symbolize the three territories of Pakistan. There is a small pentagonal monument in front of it. From the top, the crescent moon surrounded by seven petals, the star holding the monument, is the star of the Pakistan flag.

It's an excellent place. Right at the Shakarparian. Must take your kids to this place and the museum which is in the same compound right beside the monument and introduce them to pre Islam, advent of islam and independence movement history. Must see the museum which is beside the monument. It has excellent history details, cars, models and pictures. Monument and museum have separate tickets to be bought which are Rs 20 and Rs 50 respectively. There is a souvenir and refreshment shop inside the boundary wall. Great place to visit and take you foreigner friends.

One of the best place to visit in Islamabad is Pakistan Monument....built in President Musharraf regime, it is one of the best thing that happened to Islamabad after a long time. The monument was built to symbolize the unity of the Pakistani people. It is dedicated to the people of Pakistan who sacrificed their "today" for a better "tomorrow". Due to its location at a higher altitude, the monument is easily visible from far off places. The design of the monument is rooted in the rich Mughal architecture traditions of the Subcontinent. Its petal shaped structure is derived from the traditional muqarnas of Mughal architecture. People from every walk of life love to visit Pakistan Monument especially on the weekends. Whoever comes to Islamabad, it has almost become a new norm that he/she has to pay a visit to Pakistan Monument. The design and structure is amazing. It also has a dedicated museum which is a must place to visit. Inside the museum, Pakistan Struggle of independence has been shown in such a beautiful fashion that it takes you back to that era. The museum is also a wax museum depicting events of struggle of creation of Pakistan. It also houses other facilities like reference library, audio-visual archive, conference hall along with a 62-seat capacity auditorium known as Panorama Hall. Very educational for younger kids. . . 👍👍

Great design. But I'd recommend you to visit the site on weekdays. It's crowded on weekends, the number of people unusually high. There is an entrance fee, quite nominal. Rs. 20. You can view most of the parts, both southern and northern from there. It is a beautiful place to visit. It has a small museum that features the Pakistan Movement. The Monument represents the Four Provinces and their Union. From aerial View, it seems like a flower with a star and crescent moon at its center. The best time to visit the monument is after 4 pm so that sunset could be enjoyed. the whole city landscape is visible from the Monument. When i was there with my family .. Ac was not working AC was off ... hot day and spend 3 hours and its too hot that day ...

The Katas Raj Temple complex is located near Kallar Kahar, and is located at an altitude of 2,000 feet. It is approximately 100 kilometres away by road from another important Hindu pilgrimage destination - the Tilla Jogian complex. Katas Raj is located near the interchange for the town of Kallar Kahar off the M2 Motorway which links Islamabad to Lahore. The complex is located alongside the road that connects Kallar Kahar to Choa Saidan Shah near the village of Dulmial. Katas Raj, a conglomeration of temples preserves at least 1500 years worth of history ranging from Buddhist era to British rule in that particular space. The Shri Katas Raj Temples (Punjabi, Urdu: کٹاس راج مندر‎ شری) also known as Qila Katas is a complex of several Hindu temples connected to one another by walkways. The temple complex surrounds a pond named Katas which is regarded as sacred by Hindus. The complex is located in the Potohar Plateau region of Pakistan's Punjab province. The temples are located near the town of Choa Saidanshah, and are near the M2 Motorway. The temples' pond is said in the Puranas to have been created from the teardrops of Shiva, after he wandered the Earth inconsolable after the death of his wife Sati. The pond occupies an area of two kanals and 15 marlas, with a maximum depth of 20 feet. The temples play a role in the Hindu epic poem, the Mahābhārata, where the temples are traditionally believed to have been the site where the Pandava brothers spent a significant portion of their exile. It is also traditionally believed by Hindus to be the site where the brothers engaged in a riddle contest with the Yakshas, as described in the Yaksha Prashna. Another tradition states that the Hindu deity Krishna laid the foundation of the temple, and established a hand-made shivling in it. The temples were visited by India's former deputy prime minister Lal Krishna Advani in 2005. In 2006, the Pakistani government began restoration works at the temples. I visited with my family and friend (Muhammad Afzal Iqbal) in 2015

Situated within embrace of the Salt Range near Kallar Kahar, Punjab, this splendid complex of temples dedicated to Ram, Hanuman and Shiva is laid around a natural pond. The pond, the faithful believe, was created from a teardrop of the weeping Shiva as he flew across the sky carrying the dead body of his wife Sati. He shed two tears, one creating this pond, the other falling and making a pond in Ajmer, Rajasthan. The Pandavas came to this place during their exile, the legend goes, and built some of the older temples. Historical records suggest many of the temples, constructed in the Kashmiri architectural tradition, came up in the 11th century CE, when this region, along with parts of Punjab, fell under a Kashmiri kingdom.

It is as good as expected. It's humongous. Some complaints though: Wear and tear is not being repaired in a timely manner. There is a general lack of detail in regular maintenance. Given the hot climate of Pakistan, there was little to no seating in shaded areas. No tourist can be expected to constantly be on their feet under scorching sun. It's especially difficult for the elderly and infirm. Gift shop was quite unimpressive. Its inventory was limited and some items on display were even damaged.

A beautiful spot in heart of Islamabad with an affiliation to history of Pakistan and leaders who devoted their lives alongside Muhammad Ali Jinnah to make this dream of independent nation come true. It gives one an opportunity to reconnect with the origin of the concept of independence. There is also a designated view point at the hill from where you can have a magnificent view of the capital city. It is nice place to have some peace within.

Iconic landmark of Islamabad, the Pakistan monument is an architectural masterpiece built around years 2003~05. It’s located in the Shakkar Parrian mountains of Islamabad and overlooks the city from Zero Point. The monument is located in a vast park, totally paved, and is accessible by stairs, and a minimum of 200 meters walk from the parking. There are a lot of stairs and walking so plan accordingly. There is a 50 rupees parking charge at the entrance of parking lot, however entry to the monument is free now. The restrooms are located next to the entrance gate. There is also an open air prayer area next to the entrance. There is also a museum inside the park, however most of the times it is closed for one reason or the other. Staff at the park also typical noncooperative government officials. Overall it’s a nice spot to visit and see while in Islamabad.

The Pakistan Monument has long had a special place in my heart. This tends to be one of the first places I take guests from outside of Islamabad to. CDA has done an excellent job keeping the monument well maintained, and the museum is a nice distraction as well. I wouldn't call this the best view of Islamabad but it's up there. The monument itself is just gorgeous. If only we had more monuments like this one.

It's a really well managed 😊 place that is located in 2nd beautiful World Capital (ISLAMABAD). whenever I visited in this place it's became my beautiful ❤️ journey. I am from Rawalpindi & my first trip was Pakistan Monument.Pakistan Monument teach us unity We need to be unite not devide. Our politicians have divided us. Sometimes in the name of partisam sometimes in the name of provinces and sometimes for personal gain. And sometimes we ourselves are divided into sects. We should all gather under the green crescent flag of Pakistan.

Pakistan Monument was the place which made me desperate to visit from day one when I started my journey from Karachi. This was one of the best place for me, because I always love to know more about History of Pakistan and there I got all I want which I just saw in just photos and TV before by the Pakistan Monument Muesum. The majestic architecture of Pakistan Monument always inspire me alot. The paintings on the wall here are very beautiful and of historical significance. Strongly recommend for everyone who are visiting IslamAbad to visit Pakistan Monument. The best thing, there is ♿ Accessible way for wheelchairs if anyone wants to reach at the main point of the monument.

Good place. Well managed. Well organised museum reminds us our rich history. I liked everything over there. One thing to request/suggestion: The lighting cables laid on the inner sides of arch-balcony can be dangerous for children. Should be hanging outward/outside of the arch pillars.

A nice place to visit, whether it being for the views or for wanting to learn more about the history of Pakistan. When visiting the monument itself, make sure to pay attention to the smaller details that are carved into the sculpture. There is also a smaller viewpoint behind the monument, so make sure not to miss that either!

Towering above the city of Islamabad, the Pakistan Monument stands as a breathtaking symbol of national unity and resilience. Its unique petal-shaped structure, inspired by the country's floral emblem, the jasmine, is a mesmerizing sight to behold. The intricate marblework and intricate carvings narrate the rich history and cultural tapestry of Pakistan. The panoramic views from the top of the monument are simply stunning, offering a bird's-eye perspective of Islamabad's sprawling cityscape and the surrounding natural beauty. Whether you're a history buff, a photography enthusiast, or simply seeking a cultural immersion, the Pakistan Monument is a must-visit destination.

The Pakistan Monument in Islamabad is a significant national symbol, representing the unity and diversity of Pakistan. This architectural marvel, located in the heart of Islamabad, consists of four large petal-like structures symbolizing the four provinces of the country: Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. The monument stands on a high platform and offers a breathtaking view of the capital city and the lush, green Margalla Hills in the backdrop. The surrounding park is well-maintained, making it a perfect place to enjoy the pleasant weather and the stunning scenery of Islamabad. Visitors often find solace in the tranquil atmosphere, making it a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists. It's not only a symbol of Pakistan's unity but also a testament to the country's rich culture and history.

I visited Karachi after a long time and had never been to this place. It is exactly as seen in the pictures. Well maintained and looks lovely. It does however shut at 7pm so try an arrive by 6pm at the latest. Allow about an hour to look round but it is surrounded by a big park and people can bring picnics too. Also, wear socks because to enter the mausoleum you will need to remove your shoes.

Covering a total area of 2.8 hectares (6.9 acres), the design of the monument is rooted in the rich Mughal architecture of the Subcontinent. Its petal shaped structure is derived from the traditional muqarnas of Mughal architecture. As the architect says: "We should learn from history but not remain in it." He used today's technology to modernize the historical form of the muqarnas. The resultant petal-shaped structure emphasizes the importance of unity and togetherness of the people of Pakistan. Rather than symbolizing the four provinces (as is mistakenly observed), it represents the four different cultures of the people of Pakistan. The four large petals represent each of the four cultures, the Punjabi, the Balochi, the Sindhi and the Pakhtun. The three smaller petals represent: the Minorities, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan . All seven petals, though independent of each other, stand together in unison to form the nation of Pakistan. Standing together, they are protecting the star and the crescent of the flag of Pakistan. The star of the flag in the monument is designed in shiny black granite with golden stars, which represent the people who sacrificed their life for Pakistan. The moon crescent is made from stainless steel with inspirational writings of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal. The petals are built of granite (projecting in a suspended cantilever form, among the largest in Asia) and its inner walls are covered with artwork depicting the various landmarks of the Pakistan, such as: Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque, Khyber Pass and Minar-e-Pakistan. Other than the Peoples Monument, there is a museum which narrates the history and tells the story of the creation of Pakistan. These two structures are connected by a large piazza, known as the Freedom Plaza. Though the name of the architect–Arif Masoud–is inscribed in stone in the main Dedication Plaque located at the beginning of the main plaza–he has honored all construction workers by placing their hand impressions all along the long walls flanking this Freedom Plaza on both the sides. At the farthest end is a viewing platform which gives a bird's-eye view of Islamabad City.

Pakistan Monument is a national monument and heritage museum located on the western Shakarparian Hills in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Its a good place to visit. Good views of islamabad provided the weather is fine and clear. Also the museum is very nice. It provides the historical perspective of pakistan history from the indus Valley civilization to Muslim conquest to British colonisation to pakistan movement. It also explains through videos, pictures and statues the pakistan movement. Iqbal and quaideazam life are also very beautifully explained.

This place is nice. Actually it's nothing just a place where once local airplane crashed. After the crash CDA built here a structure with stairs that leads to actuall crash point from the road. This crash point is in the hilly area and that hilly area is called margalla hills which is the famous and beautiful hills in Islamabad. This place is situated hight in the hills that's why gave us very charming view in nights. CDA built this place for the good wishes to martyred's families but local groups and gathering person gathered here in this point to celebrate their fun like Bar B Q, halla gulla, gup shup etc. I wish that we should say "فاتحہ" for the martyred paasngers of the plane when we visited this place.

Pakistan Monument is one of the best place to visit in Islamabad best times to visit is after 2:30 to 4 pm as you can see the National History Museum first you can spend at least 2 hours in museum to just take a look on the events and historical data and taking some snap shots, there is an auditorium inside the museum where a very good sitting arrangement are available, i advised you to see ground floor first then have a seat in auditorium and watch documentary film and take rest for a few minutes then you should go back to the upper section then decide where you want to get photography. So when you ending your visit of National History Museum and go outside the Sun 🌞 just set downing... now you can feel the real amazing of this place sit on any side wall or just stand beside of left wall and watch the live view of entire city till complete Sunset and take your time and feel the peace of this place don't worry about the shopping as you see the shops when you enterged on your right side all that shop are available till late night The main entrance Tickets Price is Rs: 30 and the museum entry tickets are in 20 and the auditorium's entry is free

The Pakistan Movement or Tahrik-e-Pakistan was a political movement in the first half of the 20th century that aimed for and succeeded in the creation of the Dominion of Pakistan from the Muslim-majority areas of British India. It was connected to the need for self-determination for Muslims under British rule at the time. Minar e Pakistan where the bill of Lahore Resolution was passed. Pakistan Movement started originally as the Aligarh Movement, and as a result, the British Indian Muslims began to develop a secular political identity.Soon thereafter, the All India Muslim League was formed, which perhaps marked the beginning of the Pakistan Movement. Many of the top leadership of the movement were educated in Great Britain, with many of them educated at the Aligarh Muslim University. Many graduates of the Dhaka University soon also joined. The Pakistan Movement was a part of the Indian independence movement, but eventually it also sought to establish a new nation-state that protected the political interests of the Indian Muslims. Urdu poets such as Iqbal and Faiz used literature, poetry and speech as a powerful tool for political awareness. Many people may think that the driving force behind the Pakistan Movement was the Muslim community of the Muslim minority provinces, United Provinces and Bombay Presidency, rather than that of the Muslim majority provinces. Land boundaries and population demographics of India, Pakistan, and formerly East Pakistan (present day Bangladesh) are among the primary achievements of the Pakistan Movement. Not all Muslims of colonial India supported the Pakistan Movement and there was widespread opposition to the partition of India.

We do build beautiful structures like this and yes this represents or reminds us of our history and struggle to get freedom, but do we maintain these architectural masterpieces? We need to protect, preserve, and lot of care is also needed as I can see in major parts if this structure maintenance is required. Tiles and pavers need replacement. Great place to visit and the view of whole capital city is splendid.

According to Alan Cunningham, the first Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India in 1872-73 CE, Katasraj is the second biggest holy place in Punjab for Hindu pioneers after Jawala Mukhi. It is said prominent Pandwas brothers lived 12 years in Katas and assembled the sanctuaries of Satghara. Katas Raj, a conglomeration of temples preserves at least 1500 years worth of history ranging from Buddhist era to British rule in that particular space.

I have visited Pakistan Monument 2 weeks ago With my friends and enjoyed a lot. If you have tired of your daily office routine and want to get rid off the anxiety you should have to take time to visit this place. This place is located on the height nearby Sirinagar High, New Abpara. This is also called Shakar Parian. This monument was inaugurated by General Pervez Musharraf, former president of Pakistan and Chief of the Army Staff. Along with the monument, there is a museum also in which there are very rare things placed which relates to very famous personalities of Pakistan, who played a great role in freedom of Pakistan like Quid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and famous poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Location of the place is correct, but, please don't select the location which is marked as "Monument, National Park", instead find "Pakistan Monument Museum" or search "Pakistan Monument Shakar Parian Hills" on the map. As once I was proceed on the above location which was also correct but that way of enterance is now closed. One thing you should keep in mind that there is an entrance ticket of Rs. 20/- PKR (per head) for Monument area and Rs. 50/- for Museum (per head) for Pakistani. Citizens. If you are a foreigner, then you have to pay Rs. 500/- PKR to enter in the museum.

Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan and is famous for overall greenery and good sceneries one of the tourists attraction in Islamabad is Pakistan monumrnt which is situated at Hilly place namely shakerpriyan at zero point When you enter into monument we first find museum where giant pictures of quid r Azam mohmad ali jinnah ,the founder of Pakistan and other important events are displayed for information of tourists These things and events gives a true picture of our our leader such as an accounting book is being diseplaced cash book in which quid razam recorded his income and expenditure account.he himself wrote the book by own hand writing and persons visiting museum can see his deposit cash in a huge amount to towards income tax in Pakistan treasury .Pakistani stamps and currency and other important information were displayed in museum Out side we saw stairs going up towards monument where round shape building as you see on picture gives you a instant view of Islamabad and you can see hand prints of labours who sacrificed their lives in building qraqrum China Pakistan road in past .overall monument museum is a historic place to visitIt's a good place to visit if one wants to see Islamabad at night, from above, provided that if monal is not in the list. The place is a source of attraction for the lovers of architecture. While for the rest, night lights are definitely the reason for visit. Museum also has added to it's value, as around 1/3rd of the visitors see this museum.

My visit to the Pakistan monument and the wax museum was somewhat underwhelming. Place was horribly crowded even on a Tuesday and the washrooms were horrible as others have mentioned. Parking situation was also bad with people blocking the road. The views were nice and overall, an okay place to visit in order to check it off from your list, but I doubt I would return again.

Built on top of Shakar Parian area, historically where Islamabad Capital name was announced. Well conceived and planned monoment with unique architecture. Usually very busy area. Excellent view of city. Facililties are average for the visitors, public rest rooms are flithy, need serious attention from the management regarding cleanliness.

Nice place to visit with family. One can combine the monument visit with the museum and Shakarparian visit on same day. Museum is informative for school kids on Pakistan history, although the constant shrill whistling by museum guards is very distracting. Shakarparian has nicely laid out walkways through flowerbeds. You come across trees planted by dignitaries from around the world. You can get breathtaking views of Islamabad and margalla hills on a clear day. Pakistan monument itself is nicely maintained although it would be helpful if there were some displays for tourists to get some contextual history of the monument itself.

Pakistan monument is located in Islamabad on Srinagar Highway near shakarparian. It is well-maintained and situated at a high location in Shakarparian. It offers a breathtaking view of almost the entire city of Islamabad. We recommend visiting in the evening to fully appreciate the scenic beauty of the city. The entry ticket price is 20 PKR. The concept of constructing a national monument in Islamabad was initially suggested by former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf. In 2004, the government laid the foundation stone, and the Council of Architects and Town Planners organized an architecture competition in 2005 to select a design for the landmark. The objective was to create a monument that symbolizes the strength of the Pakistani people and the sovereignty of the state. Over 21 architects from different parts of the country submitted their proposals, and three were shortlisted. Ultimately, Arif Masoud was honored with the opportunity to design the Pakistan Monument. Engineer Syed Mahmud Khalid supervised the completion of the monument in 2006. The inauguration ceremony took place on March 23, 2007. Spanning 2.8 hectares of land, it holds the top position on the list of national monuments in Pakistan. The Pakistan Monument in Islamabad stands as a magnificent representation of Pakistan's cultural heritage and national identity. Located in the picturesque Shakarparian Hills, the monument's design and architecture pay tribute to the nation's history and accomplishments, making it a must-see attraction for both tourists and locals. The monument consists of four grand petals, symbolizing the four provinces and three territories of Pakistan, which converge at the top to form a central star. These petals are adorned with intricate Islamic patterns and calligraphy, crafted from white marble. The central platform showcases a series of murals depicting Pakistan's struggle for independence and its diverse culture. The surrounding area of the monument features beautiful gardens, walkways, and fountains, providing a serene and tranquil atmosphere for visitors to enjoy the monument and its surroundings. At night, the monument is illuminated, creating a captivating and mesmerizing sight for those who visit after sunset. Additionally, the Pakistan Monument houses a museum that displays the country's history, culture, and achievements. Visitors can explore a range of exhibits, including artifacts from the Indus Valley Civilization, photographs of Pakistan's leaders, and showcases highlighting Pakistan's contributions to science and technology. Overall, the Pakistan Monument stands as a testament to the country's rich cultural heritage, serving as a symbol of unity and diversity. Its breathtaking design, intricate architecture, and peaceful environment make it an essential destination for anyone visiting Islamabad, offering a perfect blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.

The Pakistan Monument in Islamabad stands as a true masterpiece, embodying the essence of unity and creativity. Amidst the serene surroundings, multiple towering pillars converge gracefully around a central, smaller pillar, evoking a sense of harmony and cohesion. This design mirrors the unity of Pakistan's diverse regions and people. As the sun casts its golden hue upon the monument, a breathtaking spectacle unfolds. This architectural marvel not only symbolizes the nation's identity but also encapsulates the spirit of progress and oneness. A visit to the Pakistan Monument is an experience of profound inspiration and awe.

The Pakistan Monument  is a national monument and heritage museum located on the western Shakarparian Hills in Islamabad, Pakistan. The monument was constructed to symbolize the unity of the Pakistani people. The plan for a National Monument was first envisioned in 2002 by the government of Pakistan then assisted by Uxi Mufti, son of Mumtaz Mufti. The Ministry of Culture was tasked to organize through Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners; a national monument design competition based on the theme of signifying strength, unity and dedication of the people of Pakistan into an icon representing an independent and free nation. From a total of 21 submissions, 3 were short-listed. The final design proposed by Arif Masoud was selected and approved on 10 July 2003. The foundation stone was laid on 25 May 2004, completed in 2006 and inaugurated on 23 March 2007 by President General Pervez Musharraf.
