I LOVED IT! VERY RECOMMENDED TO GO. We had to wait almost an hour because of the long line, but it was worth it to wait. We enjoyed the movie also, we are going back to watch another movie. This is my favorite cinema ever.

I had an amazing experience at Grand Rex Cinema in Paris! The atmosphere was enchanting, and the historic decor added a touch of elegance. I visited specifically to watch the Barbie movie, and it was an absolute delight. The screen and sound quality were top-notch, enhancing my enjoyment of the film. The staff was friendly and helpful, making the entire visit even more pleasant. I highly recommend Grand Rex for any movie enthusiast, and it's definitely a must-visit spot in Paris! Note: No seat reservation possible, so arrive early to secure your preferred spot.

Terrible experience! They sell tickets beyond capacity! I guess that explains why they sell tickets without seat numbers! People were sitting on the floor during the movie. Many were seated on foldable seats for children (check the image), which blocked the view of people behind them. The sound system is nothing but a stereo system shooting forward. The vocal immersion is ruined by the limited sound range and low-quality acoustics. Good luck coming back to your seat if you need to use the bathroom during the movie! The room is dark, and there are no indicator lights to go back to your seat. There are multiple security guards in the front doing nothing but chatting with each other. They are neither very friendly nor much of a help if you try to talk to them.

I'm used to theaters in the US. Here, the prices are reasonable. The sound doesn't damage your hearing. Both things I appreciate. The challenge in one of the small theaters is that the seats are small. I was not uncomfortable but it was a snug fit. I don't know if that is the same throughout the different theaters. I'd definitely go again.

Good experience 🙂 Le Grand Rex in Paris is a historic and iconic cinema, renowned for its grandeur and architectural splendor. The art deco design, with a starlit ceiling and intricate details, creates a captivating atmosphere. The cinema screens a mix of mainstream and independent films, providing a diverse cinematic experience. The seating is comfortable, and the overall ambiance adds a touch of nostalgia. However, it's essential to check the schedule for events, as the venue hosts various performances and shows beyond traditional film screenings. Overall, Le Grand Rex offers a unique and memorable entertainment experience in the heart of Paris.

During my visit to the Grand Rex cinema in Paris, I was mesmerized by its iconic Art Deco architecture and rich cinematic history. Stepping into the grand foyer, adorned with dazzling chandeliers and ornate details, I felt transported to a golden era of cinema. The main auditorium, with its spacious seating and state-of-the-art sound system, provided the perfect setting for an immersive movie experience. As the lights dimmed and the screen came to life, I found myself captivated by the magic of the silver screen. Exiting the cinema, I couldn't help but appreciate the timeless charm and cultural significance of the Grand Rex in the heart of Paris.

Cozy cinema. Very charming entrance and decoration. Friendly staff. The theatre where I watched the movie was not as big as expected though. Prices were overall good.

One of the historic historic cinemas of Paris. Recently renovated and hosting one of the biggest viewing capacity (1200 places!!!) as well as smaller luxury one. Hosting many avant-première events sometimes with cast and crew.

This is a joke. Tiny screen, horrible sound. For 18€ ticket, this is scandalous. Infinite room is a scam. Really dont recommend this cinema and dont understand the hype.

One of the most iconic Parisian movie theaters in Paris. The biggest screen too. Being refurbished since a couple of months now. But still open.

The most spectacular cinema in Europe. Never seen something such amazing like Rex. The main theatre is huge, it fits a lot of people but during the movies everybody were in silence and I had no problem with visual of the screen cause it’s big. The snacks are OK and the people at the bar are nice and fast. I watched Oppenheimer in 70mm quand I think I’ll never forget an experience such this.

Great Theater with amazing acoustic. During the event it was a bit chaotic during the break as people are queuing for the bathroom.

Went to the grand salle to watch Oppenheimer in 70mm, it was a mind-blowing experience. The cinema hall looks like an opera, it's just beautiful. The only downside is that we didn't get assigned seats so you have to show up at least 30mn in advance if you want to have a good seat. Other than that, everything was perfect. The seats are so comfy, the sound was perfect and so was the image. Not many cinemas match this one.

A good experience for Mission Impossible. Some technical issues held up the screening and then there was a fly on the lens (which meant there was a 5 meter fly on the screen). Bit of a line up to get in which is an odd experience when there is so much space in their foyers. Seats not super comfy think like a economy flight compared to more modern cinemas and the legroom is limited (note it also does concerts so it’s not purely a cinema)

Great cinema hall! A must visit! We could not join the tour. Also the food is basically just some drinks and only popcorn. Not much choice if you watch a long movie. Toilets were very clean. Also, the setup is quite chaotic, so be sure to reach on time for the movie. Be sure to check with multiple employees of Le Grand Rex where to stand in the queue, cause we experienced different instructions from 3 workers.

This is a nice theater. I’ve only experienced films in Salle 2 which was recently upgraded to the Infinité room. There was an extra 5€ surcharge to see films in that space that was unappreciated and unnecessary. Aside from this, the theater is alright and I have no complaints.

Let's start with the negatives. The seats are not comfortable, if you have longer legs, you will have problems (I'm 185 cm tall and my knees were touching the seat in front of me). Also, since the building is under construction, the number of bathrooms is limited. Now the good things and some tips. The cinema is beautiful old building and it's worth to visit. I was sceptical about the screen size, but don't worry, in the large screening room there is another screen in the ceiling, they will put it down shortly before the movie starts. That also means since there are no seat numbers and you and everyone else picks their seat on their own as they come to the room, you don't have to "fight" for the seats at the edge of the balcony (as we did), but you can find yourself a seat located higher, where it suits you and your long legs - don't worry, the screen is really huge, you will be able to see everything. The sound is also great. The room has some ambient lights on, they will turn them off as well, but I advice you, during the movie just look up to the ceiling, it's quite nice. We tried some snacks bought in the lobby and if you like to buy something before the movie, it won't disappoint you. The small popcorn is really small, but I'm not a snack-during-a-movie guy. So if you are wondering if you should visit, I hope this helps you to decide.

Looks nice, really appreciated the chairs and decorations. The sound was really good as well at the concert. The ventilation is not the best though, considering it was quite crowded.

One of the coolest movie experiences I’ve ever had. We ended watching a movie here truly by chance as I won 2-1 movie tickets from McDonalds and was a selection of random theatres I’ve never heard of and this was the only place playing a English version of the movie we wanted to see. Honestly if o could watch all my movies here I would. The old decor is like stepping back in time. The staff are really friendly and snacks are reasonably priced. The movie seats were up stairs on the balcony overlooking the stage and they played the previews on the screen on the stage but when the movie started the biggest projector screen rolled down from the ceiling and it was amazing !!!!!!!!!!! History: In the early 1930s, Jacques Haïk, a wealthy movie producer and distributor and the owner of the Olympia, got the idea of building a very extravagant cinema: it could have a capacity of more than 5000 spectators on a surface area of 2,000 m², with a ceiling peaking at more than 30 meters, representing a luminous starry vault. Its designers are the architect Auguste Bluysen and the engineer John Eberson. The façade is designed by the sculptor Henri-Édouard Navarre and the decoration of the great hall by Maurice Dufrêne. The Grand Rex is a scale model of the famous Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The Grand Rex hall opens its doors on the evening of December 8, 1932, in the presence of the cinema's pioneer, Louis Lumière and 3,300 guests. The Three Musketeers by Henri Diamant-Berger is on the bill. It is renowned for hosting premieres with the films’ crews as well as special events, called “Marathons”, which gathers the fans of a franchise (Star Wars, Marvel Cinematic Universe, the adaptations of Tolkien’s work or else The Hunger Games for example).

Saw Bono preform here. The theater is impressive and beautiful but the stairs are startlingly steep. The chairs are very narrow as well. Not a very comfortable viewing experience.

Awesome historic theatre! Live music sounds extremely well no matter your are located !

The projectors are very good quality, the theater itself (the one that I've been to) was a small one, it was a pleasant experience overall. The seats could've been positioned better, currently rows are positioned close to each other, so you have to stand up to let the others pass, and also the incline is not that big, so the heads of the other people block the view a little bit.

The place was magnificent, I went to see the oppenheimer in 70mm. Make sure to go there at least a half an hour before the movie starts because you can't book a seat.

Worst cinema I’ve been to in my life. Black panther 2 premiere. Waited in a queue in the cold for over an hour just to rush into the room to fight for seats. People were screaming around during the whole movie, felt like 5 school classes in there, it was awful. Food is overpriced, they check your bags if you brought anything yourself, popcorn is 8€ alone, they only offer popcorn and a little bit of drinks and sweats. No seat numbers, everythings messy and noisy, very unfriendly staff and dirty cinema, wish I never went there. Movie started 40 minutes later than advertised, people running around all the time during the movie.

We went to the Rex club. The music, venue and sound quality were amazing, but the cost of drinks were quite high and waiting lines at the bar were just... Exhausting (waiting 30 minutes to get a beer)

Maybe as a theatre is great (I read a lot of good reviews) but as a cinema is not

Born and raised in Paris, France, I lived in the states for 8 years and had the incredible customer service experience there. I came back to France in 2017 and I have been amazed by the very poor customer service this country has. Today Stephen gave me hope for the first time with an incredible service. Thank you very much for your time and to have gave my friend and I the opportunity to have a great evening in your cinema.

The cinema looks beautiful outside & inside and all the workers are really nice. The sound quality was amazing but the room we were in (salle 2) had a rather small screen, similar to a projector at home. On top of that there seemed to be no AC and everyone was very hot, at one point I considered leaving. I read in a review there was an AC problem but I think it’s better to not fill the entire room if this is a known issue. The chairs were also not that comfortable & very tight (around you and in front of you). Snacks were ok, not too expensive but not enough choice in my opinion.

Very huge rooms to watch an incredible movie.

We wanted to like this place but I don’t recommend going. We ended up in salle 2, the screen is tiny. On top of that there isn’t any AC, everyone was dying of heat in there. It was impossible to enjoy the film. The spacing between the rows is too short, and on top of that I had the head of the person in front blocking part of the screen. The popcorn was ok but there aren’t a lot of snacks options. Drinks are given in bottles, no ice provided and the bottles aren’t cold enough.

Excellent cinema, old theatre, seats reminiscent of 70s/80s cinema theatres. Needs better quality control after each showing. The floor infront if our seats were steamy from spilled beverages which made for an unwelcome distraction while watching the movie.

There were people who blocked the seats because they want to keep a distance with the others Which is understandable But they didn't buy extra tickets And the staffs seem to not care about it

Very good cinema that I tried for the first time for the Daniel Craig James Bond marathon (the Grand Large is superb and the theater decoration is beautiful). Only downside is that the leg room is definitely too tiny, especially for tall people (like many Parisian show rooms) and the armrests prevent you from spreading your legs if there is nobody around you. Bearable for a movie but very uncomfortable for an entire marathon

Amazing experience of the big hall! One of the rarest in the world

  • 4/5 Francesca R. 2 years ago on Google
It's a pity that the big façade was under reconstruction. Good organization, smooth access, entrance / exit streams separated. The most precious for me: opportunity to see films in English with French subtitles. Picture quality was good, sound was ok, not overwhelming (maybe it's different from room to room). Still, worth visiting thanks to the building and the feeling of going to watch a film. The pandemic has cut many of the pieces of ordinary life, yet Grand Rex indeed remains a cinema theatre, both an entertainment and an experience with a simple access via central busy boulevards.

The Rex Studios tour was incredible! The best immersive experience tour I've ever had. It takes you all the way through to how cinemas work, and has a fun surprise at the end. You can also see signed posters of all your favourite movies at the Rex. Although if you decide to watch a movie here visiting from abroad check the language before booking... I made the embarrassing mistake of watching Morbius in French. Not a French speaker and just presumed it would be in English.

  • 5/5 Melanie M. 1 year ago on Google
However... If its 40°c outside I don't recommend watching a movie in their biggest hall. The screen is huge..but no AC or ventilation.

Beautiful venue - didn’t see the outside as clad in scaffolding - take care on seat choice as at end of each row is a kind of fold out seat

Really cool old movie theater in a nice Paris neighborhood. I was a little worried before the movie began when they routed everyone to the top balcony level and we were watching the tiny screen on the stage down below. However, when the trailers ended and the feature movie began, a huge movie screen rolled down from the ceiling and the sound system kicked in with loud rumbling. It is a great place to see a movie!

Big cinema complex in Paris. The room where I was in was clean and well maintained, it was quite small though. The cinema scans the CST for the moment and does not sell any food or drink, it makes sense for now. Also, viewers have to keep their masks on during viewing.

Beautiful 1930s movie theater, one of the oldest and most interesting in Paris, with a huge screen in the main auditorium (where you'll be seated on the balcony) and vintage fittings. Feels like an adventure. Just a shame the Art Deco facade is hidden behind scaffolding at the moment...
