REED
opened
two
years
ago
on
rue
Amélie,
where
I
once
lived,
and
became
my
local
kitchen
when
I
wanted
a
nice
dinner.
It’s
a
small
restaurant
that
features
fresh
home
cooking
in
nice
setting
with
only
a
dozen
or
so
seats.
The
owner
is
a
wonderful
French
Canadian
woman
(Catherine
Reed).
The
food
is
wonderful
–
no
caveats
--
wonderful
homemade
cooking
with
fresh
ingredients
in
perfect
portions.
The
chicken
with
morels
is
one
of
my
favorites.
The
accompanying
mashed
potatoes
are
a
sin
of
butter
and
cream.
Her
simple
salad
has
a
perfect
zesty
dressing
on
it.
Every
dessert
–
usually
3
featured
per
night
--
are
all
fresh
in
house.
They
are
worth
every
calorie.
Everything
is
homemade
except
the
bread
and
wine.
The
wine
list
is
limited,
but
the
choices
good
and
fairly
priced.
Important
to
note,
the
owner/chef
was
trained
at
the
Ritz
Escoffier
(yes,
the
Ritz
cooking
school)
and
spent
many
years
as
a
private
chef
to
some
of
Switzerland’s
and
France’s
wealthiest
families.
As
she
has
small
staff
and
she
likes
to
be
with
the
customers
as
well
as
cook;
she
gives
you
lots
of
attention.
You
feel
as
though
she
has
invited
you
into
her
home.
If
you
see
the
place
is
nearly
empty
one
night
consider
it
good
fortune.
Walk
in
immediately,
eat
and
engage
her
in
conversation.
She
speaks
perfect
English
and
French
and
is
delightful
to
talk
with.
I
cannot
recommend
this
place
enough,
wonderful,
simple
but
elegant
French
home
cooking
in
a
pleasant
setting.
It
is
closed
on
Sundays
and
Mondays.
