This was my favorite part of eastern Tottori (even better than the sand dunes). The boat takes you out to see the gorgeous Uradome Coast, which is such an underrated part of Japan. The waves crashing against the bonsai-like rock formations were truly breathtaking. The boat takes you close enough for some great pictures and it was nice to get out on the sea of Japan!

Another must visit if you happen to be in Tottori and like nature. We took the pleasure boat at 13.30, which I think was a good time since it was not too hot but still bright. The pleasure boat costs 1500 JPY. I recommend to sit at the rear of the open area (rear right corner would be the best) since you can get a better view of most of the cliff. One of the crew will take a photo of you before starting the journey, but you can decline if you don't want to. The photo itself will cost you 1000 JPY.

Two boats available for the cruises - smaller boat and larger boat. The small boat takes about 50 mins and is able to go thru the narrower and shallow parts. The larger boat takes about 40 mins; too short I think. The coastline is stunning. There are plenty of small rock formations and people are fishing there. I wonder how they got there. In the visitor centre, there’s a small restaurant and also souvenirs for sale. I tried the squid ink ice cream and the squid ink curry rice.

Inexpensive yet lovely cruise of local coast. It offers stunning views that you could never see from a car, including some stretches of beach and tide pools that are normally hidden. In the summer, it's also a nice break from the scorching heat. The driver's commentary on points of interest during the cruise is interesting, as well (but only offered in Japanese).

If you are visiting Tottori Sand Dunes nearby and don't know what to do after that, do drop by the quiet town of Iwami to take this cruise! The weather was really great on the day we visited, though the visibility of the sea wasn't that great, which was a shame :( I enjoyed looking at the rock formations up close, to which the captain would explain as we cruise past. Sadly we missed the flowering season, else we could have seen flowers on one of the rocky formations. Note that the cruise is entirely in Japanese, and the bus here (and back to Tottori stattion) is rather infrequent, so please plan ahead!

The ferry service was suspended due to rough sea yet the ship master still showed up & showed the nearby hiking route so we still visited some scenic spots. He also prepared a small souvenir for everyone 👍🏻

Fantastic views was really Guttered I couldn't get onto the smaller boat because of winds and waves.. However much to my suprized it was very smooth . Only downside is they canceled the small boat for such a pathetic reason.. However safety first I guess. Definitely a very underrated part of japan.

Although the scenery was amazing, the experience was ruined by continuous loud and noisy announcements on the boat. Instead, I would have loved a quiet boat tour.

What a fun tour this was! Due to the off season, we could not ride a boat but we had an amazing ground tour. For those who get sea sick easily, it is perfect! Also, you should join this excursion if you want to get the down-to-earth local tour. The guide was so knowledgeable about the local areas, including history, geography ,and otaku culture, and explained all this with a great sense of humor. The van was so comfortable and thank to the driver the ride was so smooth. We had a chance to talk with residents of the nearby fishing town and learned about the special meal of the area. It was so great since we could actually order that exact meal at the restaurant in the facility of this tour company. No matter what season, we guarantee you would enjoy their tour. Totally recommended!

Great time and the guides are friendly and helpful. Even though they speak very little English, it was a fun time.

coast is so beautiful. I was mesmerized. water is so clear. you can take nice scenic view all around the coast. It would be good to get a drone to take pictures. you can take a 1000 yen taxi for 3 hours. They will guide you along the coast.

We took the 40-minutes cruise in the big boat at 10:30. It was really nice. Hard to believe that this is Japan. It reminded me of Thailand so much. At 10:30 there were not too many people and almost everyone could seat on the upper deck. But it seems like if you take cruises later in the day, it might get a bit crowder and you might need to seat inside. There is also a small cafe selling some snacks and sea food. We had their seafood burgers, squid soft cream and a blur cheesecake. Everything was tasty and relatively cheap.
