👍👍 Somehow, I was told that the rock can only be found in two places in the world, and that Niijima is the only place where it is melted, so I ended up buying a cup even though I don't usually buy on impulse! Somehow I can't remember anymore! People often mention glass, Niijima, workshop, works,

Glass experience is fun. I can do most of the work for you, so it's almost like just putting your hands on it, but it's very difficult to adjust the amount of pressure. I wanted to try making my own glass cup. You can tell me carefully

They exhibit glass made from Koga stone, a specialty of Niijima, and sell crafts. There is also a workshop where you can watch the production process. Apparently, green apples are popular in Europe and America as a sign of intelligence.

Glass experience is the best! Reservations are required, so please call 04992-5-1540 three days in advance. I made a cup. In addition to blowing glass, you can also experience the entire process, including glass formation. They asked me what kind of glass I wanted, and they responded perfectly (I asked for a brandy glass with a pout). Instead of the low-quality workmanship that tends to be seen in places like this, I was impressed to see that it was better than a ready-made product! Now 2700 yen is cheap. The souvenir corner is also stocked with everything from stylish luxury items to affordable items for everyday use. Worth a look. Both the store staff and the teacher at the trial class were very kind and made me feel comfortable!

One of the highlights of our Niijima trip. The glass-making is highly recommended. Nothing beats a unique hand-made souvenir made from abundant resources from Niijima island. The staff are really helpful and the manager speaks fluent English. The only problem is that you'll have to make advance reservations and do advanced payment so you'll really have to commit to going which I guess it's fair. It takes at most 20 minutes to finish the whole glass-making process. If it breaks, you'l have to start over. You can have the finished product shipped to Tokyo or you can pick it up the next day.

The building on the right is a glass workshop and shop. , The building on the left has glass works on display. Both were explained carefully. All of the olive-colored glass products from Niijima were beautiful.

2023.06.16 I visited around noon. When we entered the facility, a man gave us a detailed explanation of how to make the works on display and for sale. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, we are unable to tour the workshop, so we are looking forward to the day when we can tour again. After I finished explaining everything, I went back to the workshop and told them to press the call bell if anything happened. I wanted to buy some as a souvenir and take them home, but I had come by bicycle that day, and when I rang the bell, there was no response, probably because the workshop was busy, so I just left the facility. Niijima Glass works can be purchased at the waiting room and souvenir shops at Niijima Port. Sometimes they sell works that are not available at this art center, so it might be a good idea to look for your favorites at various shops. I bought the Niijima glass piece shown in the photo at a store called Beniya and a glass cup in the waiting area.

I write various travel diaries on Amazon Kindle, so please refer to them if you like! “ Trip to Niijima ~ Moped bike trip ~ “ We make Niijima glass by processing Koga stone, which is native to Niijima. Lots of wonderful items! ️ The view from the terrace is also great! ️

I revisited Niijima Glass Art Center yesterday before noon. The previous day was a day when the museum was closed, but Mr. Noda took care of me, and I was able to take a leisurely look at the works, including a meeting about this summer's exhibition. This was the first time I realized that this building was designed by Norihiko Dan. The building itself is built in the form of stairs, with the roof serving as an observation deck. You can enjoy the spectacular view of Niijima. It was great to be able to experience the architecture on a clear day.

I purchased a small plate as a souvenir for my wife and child. There was one staff member who was unpleasant, but I don't think you need to worry about that as that kind of thing happens everywhere.

I would go again No pictures allowed inside, but most pieces were expensive. Maybe $20ish for hand blown glasses? They all had a greenish tint due to the iron in the local sand from which they were made. Very friendly staff. We meet the owners wife
