Imaoka-san is one of the most wonderful people in Kumamoto. If you are looking for a youth-hostel style accommodation, I cannot recommend enough the Wasamon Hotel. It is located in Shinmachi, which, despite the name, is the old part of Kumamoto. It is conveniently about a 20 minutes walk from Kumamoto Station, Shinshigai (the main downtown area), and Kumamoto Castle. Imaoka-san is well acquainted with the local fare, she will make sure that your time in Kumamoto is the best you have in Japan. Imaoka-san also runs a home-made clothes shop, so you can also look your best while you stay in Kumamoto.

I visited this hostel and that moment the owner built up inside. there are cool Tatami room , we can see Japanese garden. tatami smell sooooo nice! There are closet shop in guest house. Female owner is running.

WASAMON HOSTEL onece you've come I am sure you'll like it ! Tomoko the owner who has grate hospitality. She has well knowledge not only local places but also ather amazing interesing places in Japan ! rooms are pretty well cleaned, If you love beer you can have local craft one only 100yen who would stay.

Very friendly staff and cool events even though I wasn't able to participate they seemed to be quite a lot of fun and give you the opportunity to meet fellow travelers and locals alike! Rooms are really comfortable and the location very central!

Amazing hostel place. I stayed 2 nights the people are really nice. Go on Saturday or Sunday night, they do Takoyaki + beer party it's really memorable !

Warm and cozy place, near to downtown al, jr station as well as bus terminal so very convenient location. Clean and comfy bed and room too!

very kind host, exceptionally clean spaces, and generally lovely atmosphere. nice location near public transit and multiple convenience stores in a quiet neighborhood. there were also clear, concise, and helpful rules (complete with pictures!) for ignorant foreigners like myself so I didn't feel like a complete boor. best recommendation for anyone travelling on a budget!!!
