Hotel locations is near the castle and shopping area, city tram. Consider you have to pay for parking 1400 yen (2pm-8am)which is a lot. The room it's type for what you pay. Budget hotel not quite clean. Cigarettes's smelled but not too bad, stinky bathroom. Dirty carpet and stain on the wall. Free breakfast which is the plus side. Japanese style breakfast is delicious. With $65 a night for 3 people not too bad.

Nice budget hotel near the Kumamoto castle and Karashima shopping arcade. The rooms are small are but its comfy enough and the staff are very helpful.

Dirty walls, old building, low ceiling. We booked for 2 person but all the amenities were prepared only for 1 person. Nothing much going on around the area. The toilet is old and very small. Good thing is the water kettle looks new. 5mins walk to bus station (Kotsu) and 10mins to the shopping arcade area (unfortunately the side of the arcade with alot of pachinko and hostess part). 15 mins walk to Kumamoto castle. For the price range there are many other better options.

Located near to major attractions like Kumamoto castle, bus station and shopping arcade. Parking available at ¥1000 per day. Hotel staff was very kind to bring us a fan as we feedback it was too stuffy in the room. Room a bit small though.

Simple, but clean and cheap hotel. It is located near the bus terminal and it is right in the middle between the train station and the city center, so everything is at short distance.

The location is the main reason I picked the hotel. It is situated close to the shopping arcades, the castle and to the bus Central. It's a good hub for sightseeing. The down side of the hotel was the small bathroom. I barely were able to sit on the toilet, and being able to lock the door (173 cm). My friend which is 185 cm could not sit on the toilet and have the door closed. He had to use the hotels toilet at the reception. The insulation could be better as well as we could hear our neighbors. All in all, a bit too expensive for what we paid for, but good for an overnight stay.
