If there is good powder, do you really need more than 3 lifts, and easy access to the back country. Turns out, you don't. Cheap, cheerful, and plenty of deep, what's not to like?

A very cozy, and fun resort near Rankoshi. One of the smaller mountains in the Niseko area, but also less crowded. You’re certain to get Fresh morning tracks if you arrive early, as most of the visitors or “gaijin” flock towards the larger runs around Mt Yohei, Grand Hirafu area. Also, priced very reasonably. Night ski, 4 hour, and all day passes available.

Good variety of runs. Including plenty of off piste trails and tree runs. Generally pretty quiet in the lift lines. Reasonable food options within a short walk from the lift lines. Lifts do seem to be fairly quick to go onto wind hold for the upper mountain but the lower ones seem to be consistent.

Been skiing there for more than 8 years and I absolutely love it! Small ski resort but great to enjoy the JAPOW! It’s a locals fav place since not many people come here to ski (compared to Hirafu)

If you get fresh snow you'll have such a good time in Moiwa! The "back country" area is awesome! It is quite a small resort, you basically lap the same lift all day.

Great to go into the back country and to the Onsen on the back, off pist connection to Annupuri, but lift tickets are separate. Only 3 lifts, so not for extensive slope skiing if you are not in style training.

The Truth About Moiwa. Having skied about a dozen Hokkaido ski-fields, I can tell you Moiwa rocks! Whilst it's small, we love it because it offers awesome off-piste (within the resort on the shirakaba slope) that will truly satisfy those experimenting with powder skiing (plus groomers for beginners/intermediates) For the more adventurous, you can boot (or skate) out gate 6 (or 10) to access some great side-country that feeds back into the quad lift. For the even more adventurous, gate 6 also takes you over the back if you're happy to skin and earn your turns. Please make sure you have avo gear - beacon, shovel and probe mandatory. The crowds are much smaller than the major Niseko resorts and the restaurant to the bottom of the hill offers very good quality food at reasonable prices. Hope you enjoy it. Richo

Great when it snows, not huge but has good backcountry access.

AMAN will be here and so would be St Regis. The place will BOOM for sure.

Great cozy ski area. Nice change from the "over-crowded" big name neighbors. Conditions were not the best (warm, windy, old snow) the day we visited- can't plane the ski area! Friendly staff made the experience better. We will be back.

The best powder snow in Niseko area. The resort is small, but the best Japow here!

My family and I booked a private ski lesson with Moiwa ski resort. We were taught by Miss Maki, Mr Shin and the boss whom we didn’t get the name. We had a blast and they took really great care of us. All the three of them were fantastic and they were the saving grace for this review. It gets downhill from here. We were totally unimpressed with the main counter staff. One of our family member had an accident while skiing on his own. The counter staff managed to get a medic to check on him and recommended for him to make a trip to a hospital for a detailed checkup. Not only did they refuse to assist us to make a call for taxi to send him to the hospital, THEY GAVE US TOTALLY WRONG INFORMATION! They told us that the nearest hospital is closed for the day and could not offer us alternatives and left us on our own. In the end, we had to make own back to our lodge slowly. Moiwa Lodge’s staff was totally different and they were a gem!! They assessed the situation and assisted us to call an ambulance to send my family member to the hospital promptly. We were also told that the hospital was indeed closed on weekends, but they do accept accident emergencies via ambulance. What puzzled was that the local staff at Moiwa Ski Resort did not know such simple, yet important information, and it did give us the impression that it would give them bad publicity if an ambulance were to appear at their premise. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED to say the least.

👍👍 This is a fun 10 minute experience for someone that hasn’t seen so many ostriches before. There is a little stand where you can buy bags of corn to feed the ostriches. The ostriches are big and scary and will follow you around whilst you are holding the bag of corn. The small cafe next to the farm...
