I brought my 5 and 3-year-old and we spent 4 hours exploring! The exhibits were well done and my kids were entertained all day. The planetarium is definitely worth a visit. I would like to go back without my kids so that I can spend more time reading the facts :)

I live in Brooklyn so it was a bit of a schlep to get here. I would say it was not worth the ~1 hr trip nor the $30 adult ticket price. It very much seemed like an institution well past its heyday. A lot of the interactive digital exhibits were probably really cool 15 years ago but are now dated both in the technology they employ and the information they proffer. Many of the highlights were closed - the wind tunnel / scaffolding / touch tank / etc. - and so the remaining exhibits were super crowded. A lot of the exhibitions are also paywalled behind separate ticketing, and all those special exhibits had big crowds / lines. Very cash-grabby especially on top of a pretty steep entrance fee. One major highlight was the TRAINS!! those miniatures / dioramas were very cool and detailed. And because it's all about the past anyway, it was not outdated. I wouldn't recommend coming on a raining Saturday either. It was packed!! Overall, it makes sense only on a random weekday with a 4 year old if you live close by.

There were quite a few interesting activities geared towards mainly elementary school aged and maybe middle school aged students. Some of the exhibits are getting worn and need renovations. Some are under renovation. The animal exhibit is the most impressive. Interactive activities such as climbing wall are great, too. The admission fee is pricey and doesn't include 3D movies and shows. Parking is $7 and space plenty. Pay at the station by ticket counter to save time. Buy tickets online in advance online and save.

The Liberty Science Center was huge with multiple floors. Very entertaining for my kids. Many different shows to watch and learn from. Something for everyone. There’s just so much to do inside. Also nice that there’s different exhibits all the time so you won’t get bored going back again and again. The cafe/food court they have there had really good food too!

We went during the weekend to escape the heatwave a bit and to do something a little different. They currently have a mine raft exhibition which is really cute and great for photo ops. I wouldn’t recommend the dinosaur film for younger children maybe 10 and above it’s a bit “scary” for the littles and more of a documentary style . To see everything you need at least 2 hours or more so you’re not rushing. All in all we had a good time

This spot slaps harder than a beaver's tail! I took my 3 and 5 year old to the Liverty Science Center and we were not dissapointed! My kids enjoyed the multitude of interactive activities and shows. I enjoyed the tact that I didn't have to pay for admission because of a reciprocity agreement between the Liberty Science Center and the Maryland Science Center, of which I'm a member. This place is awesome. I'm pretty sure we'll get sick from all the hands on learning, but my sons had so much fun that it'll have been worth it. Get there early! The later you go, the busier it gets.

I've been here a few times but it got pretty boring as my kids got older. Their mask and vaccination rules are pretty strict so be prepared when you go in. The exhibits are so few and easy to walk through. The new minecraft part is nicely done but doesn't have the value that your paying for. It's pretty dark throughout so it madr me very sleepy. There's a lot of educational exhibits but I wouldn't go more than once.

Great place to take kids! There are lots of fun activities and exhibits on display to keep my 3 year old entertained. We especially loved Wobbly World where you can climb and play. The Dream Machine exhibit was my favorite where you create sounds and smells through interactive use.

Love coming here. But it's been a few years. Had a good time with my 8 year old. Alot of stuff was broken or not working properly. Which kinda sucked. The entrance fee is not cheap. Plus you gotta pay for everything else like the planetarium and ride simulator and movie . Even the food was pricy. 9.50 for a burger sitting under a heat lamp?? I guess after $150 for 3 hours at the museum I expect everything to work

Where to begin… We have been members for a few years now. If you are seeking a place to visit for yourself or children this is a must see. One visit or many. There are countless interactive pieces + education is a major part of this fun place. This is a great place for young children as well, one of the few places around that had top notch rooms that help build cognitive skills. I highly recommend purchasing the membership if you are local, a fun place to visit year round (in the summer beware that it is cool in there so avoid light clothes or shorts/ dresses etc because you will be cold) Other points- workers are friendly and caring, there are exhibitions that are switched out, fun ways to learn about biology, engineering and life. The animals are seemingly well taken care of- although some of the areas are far too small they do practice adequate animal care which even zoos fail to do. Such as knowledge pertaining to the species and the required diet. An important component is spreading awareness of this, I saw a worker educating families on chinchillas and how they are exotic and require adequate care which is good. Is one day enough? Not really, if you want to truly learn and go through each floor you will need more than one day. Can you enjoy and see most of everything in one day? Absolutely. Is it worth it to commute? I think so. The theater is amazing, the environment is crisp and clean. The food is overpriced - decent but overpriced. The upside? You can bring your own food and drink with lid. No mask is required now, no proof of vaccination either which is a plus! Wait no longer, visit the LSC and see for yourself the wonders it has for our community to see. Best days to visit- WEEKDAYS Weekends are very crowded but it is not the worst if you can’t make it in during the week.

Awesome science museum for kids of all ages! I even enjoyed it as an adult. I learned a lot of cool things, and that made it even more enjoyable to escort my kids through the museum. My personal favorites were the Planetarium, "Fossil or Not" pop-up quiz game, and skyline views of lower Manhattan while outside at the dinosaur dig. My kids' fan favorites were the indoor climbing exhibit, dinosaur dig, animal habitat exhibits, optical Illusion building, and all things having to do with outer space. We became annual members and are so glad we did! With the annual membership we save 10% on food and gifts. The food is really tasty at the cafeteria. They had delicious tacos which is not something you can always get at a cafeteria. Parking is affordable at $7. We have gone twice in 3 weeks and can't wait to come back. :)

Absolutely amazing! I visited LSC as a kid but the newly renovated facility is just stunning & inspiring for all children. They have something for everyone. It’s phenomenally educational while being super entertaining. We actually paid to go to the 6000 square-foot Minecraft exhibition. My children and I couldn’t have had a better time! We even bought an annual membership so we can go back and see all of the other exhibitions this year. Hands-down best place around especially if you’re homeschooling your children or simply having family quality fun time 😍🤩😍🤩

Visited here on Sunday with my family. My son throughly enjoyed roaming through the exhibitions. He’s 1 yrs old we took a chance and bought tix for the Big Bird Planetarium space show, not knowing if he’d be too squirmy. He loved it sat through he whole show amazed. We walked so much a good way to tire the kids and you out for a day.

It would help if you had two full days or more to enjoy this experience. I took my 2-month-old and 3-year-old, and I think I had more fun than them. My first time going, I was unaware that the museum tickets are different from the show tickets. I believe they have various seasonal shows when you go, which is a separate price from the museum. I will be coming back to finish touring and to experience the exhibits. Educational & Fun, you can’t beat that.

I found it extremely interesting, a very good place to learn and expand knowledge about technological and scientific topics, I like that people can manipulate certain machines and see for themselves the magic of the machines, I liked the animal life that is preserved here. The only detail was the admission price, which seemed very expensive to me...$35. But from there everything was perfect.

Great museum for kids of all ages. Lots of different exhibits, family friendly layout on each floor, great movies to see (extra cost), fun combination of hands on activities and learning, and great parking compared to other large children’s museums (cost is 7.00 but right at science center). Get there early for less crowds.

This museum is a must see for kids and adults !! Lots of on hands learning !! They have a really cool planetarium which is one of the largest on the east coast !! Spent the whole day here to get everything done. Right now they have Minecraft and paw patrol wing open!! The paw patrol is a giant playroom with items they can play with!! There's also a brain games area with lots of games to play while learning. This museum also has a maze for kids 5 and up to climb in. It's suspended in the air and is really cool to see!! There's also animals on Display our favorite were the little monkeys. Be on the look out for learning times!! The caretakers bring out the mccaws for Q&A's. Lots to do and they have great deals for season passes!!

Good place to visit with kids. We booked ticket online. For 3 members, including a kid it cost $108 including an experience show. Was not busy on Sunday at noon time. Parking easily available. Get parking ticket and pay when you left center. $7 per car. Digital booking ticket accepted. Security check at entry point in center. Normal bag allowed. Not hard security check. Food costly inside the center. For experience show, try to get top most seats. Keep few quarters for NY view.

We have been to Science Museums in various cities around the world. This is one of the best I have ever been in. The entrance fee is on the expensive side, especially when you realize the true fee will probably include the large extra fee for certain "premium" exhibits like the T Rex. . However, its a really unique place and well worth it. The café is open and provides entirely ok food for a reasonable amount compared to most museums and places like that. Of note, the mask mandate was very well enforced . The exhibits are first rate. My grandson is five years old. I appreciated the special area for children of that age and under. The area had certain activities for much younger than 5 and their was a special place with blocks for toddlers. He got something out of many of the other exhibits even though they are really for older children. The other exhibits were also great. The hot wheels car exhibit was lots of fun and showed some basic laws of physics in an appealing way with hot wheels cars and racing tracks. The planetarium is supposedly the largest in the Western Hemisphere and has an amazing wrap around screen. The sesame street show at the planetarium is of course great for younger kids but the other shows are also great.

I was invited by a coworker and invited another coworker since our kids are all close in age. It was a lot of fun. Love the age range of appropriate activities and areas. My daughter really loved the hands on activities. Creating a bee and learning about pollination and building with toothpicks and marshmallows to see if had strong structure really kept her in engaged. The food was great with great options for parents and kids. I can't wait to go back when the weather gets warmer too.

We frequent science museums and this is one of the better museums we've visited. They accept ASTC passport which allowed us to visit for free, though some exhibits are additional fees. There was a high level of security, temperature checks, and mask requirements before entering (as of July 2021). Some of our favorite exhibits were the Skyscrapers, Dinosaur Dig, Hot Wheels, and the Infinity Climber.

Awesome place to teach kids about science! Plenty to do. We did the Sesame Street Star Gazing and the Oceans 3D shows and they were great. They also have two play areas for kids between 1-5. Highly recommended!

I haven't been to LSC since I was a kid and was looking forward to experiencing LSC after dark. It is a 21 and older event with science experiences, food, cocktails and music. When I arrived I parked in the private lot. I walked in and got security checked and went to the ticket booth to scan my $22 ticket. I walked in and seen the bouncy house which I experienced and was fun and got some wine. We walked to the back and the music was booming and venders were everywhere. My friends got some food which they enjoyed. We went to the butterfly house which was so cool. We all had fun for the night and would definitely do it again.

Would like to recommend this place for what it represents and the potential it has, but I simply cannot. It was a terrible experience. Most of the exhibits were not fully functional or missing parts. Quite a few other (seemingly interesting) exhibits were closed all together. Add that it was incredibly crowded. Tickets are purchased with an entry time, I thought that was to limit occupancy so that everyone could partake in the hands-on experiments and presentations. Well that policy was certainly not followed. I was attending with my 4yr old and 6yr old and would never leave them unattended and to run around impeding others' experience. Unfortunately, other folks did not do the same. It was chaotic, dirty and possibly even dangerous. Kids running everywhere, climbing and going wild. I understand children being children, that's what this place represents to me, curiosity, peaking an interest in the world, touching and feeling but this was just not that. The restrooms were absolutely disgusting, urine everywhere. I want Liberty Science Center to do better. I'm sure they're fully capable of doing so. Until this happens I will not, in good conscience, recommend spending the time and money to visit. I'm sorry.

We arrived for the Liberty Science After Dark affair. It was so much fun! I'm hoping we could go back. We arrived a bit late so we did not get to see all of the exhibits. At the after dark arrangement, there is: music, food and alcohol vendors! The dance floor is open all night. During the event, there are different shows that play within the dome, if you retrieve tickets ahead of time. Overall, the staff here is super nice and friendly!

Great place for the family. A lot of interactive exhibits for the kids and adults and an overall learning experience. The facility was clean and good crowd control. The staff was really nice. There is no cafeteria, at the moment, so pack a snack or a lunch with you. We had to cut our trip short to get actual food for our son, as opposed to vending machine snacks. Positive experience, nonetheless. There hot wheels exhibit was a hit!

We went to LSC after dark and it was a really good time m it was 90s night so it was very nostalgic since we grew up in the 90's very fun. We went through the touch tunnel and felt like we were kids again!! Must try at least once.

I had a great time at Adult Night. It was the first time I went since I was a kid and the place felt completely different. The staff was nice and most were knowledgeable about where to find things or places. Large lockers were 7 dollars to rent and small were 5 (don't forget to write down your locker number and pin code you have to create). Everything was easy to find with clear signs and the mozzarella sticks we had from the vendor were great. I'd suggest having a meal before you show up so you don't spend as much on food and non alcoholic beverages. I spent 5 dollars on one bottle of peach tea and nothing in the grab and go has a price sign. You find out at the machine you pay at so be prepared with at least 20 to 40 dollars if you plan to eat eat, more if you're drinking heavy. The light show started late at the planetarium and if you don't like heights you might not like going in there so get in line early to get good seats! Bathrooms were clean and any mess we saw (outside of the restrooms) after we got in was due to people eating and drinking. I will say if you have any questions email them a day in advance since no one answered or returned calls we made the day of our trip. If you buy tickets for when they open know that they will not let you in til 6 pm on the dot so being early means either waiting in the cold or in your car. Overall I would recommend going.

I recently visited the Liberty Science Center, and while there were some enjoyable aspects, there were also some significant let-downs that made it less enjoyable. The main issue we encountered was having to climb the extensive staircases while carrying a baby, which was challenging and disappointing as we were looking forward to seeing the exhibits. Additionally, we faced significant frustration while waiting to visit the hologram room exhibits. Unfortunately, right when we were about to enter, the employee suddenly announced that they could not accept any more visitors, which was disappointing considering how long we had waited for almost 40 minutes. All in all, the Liberty Science Center has several decent exhibits, but the long waittimes paired with a lack of consideration to accommodate everyone became frustrating. It would have been great if the management paid more attention to convenience, such as stairs accessibility and streamlining waits for popular exhibits, ensuring smooth and enjoyable visits for all. Despite these issues, if you have an interest in science, it's still worth checking out.

This is probably the best place ever, to take my kids! The decoration, the exhibitions and the staff are amazing. The planetarium is really beyond words. That was my first visit to the center and I was shocked, how many wonderful things to learn and discover in a very funny way. A little tip??? Buy your tickets online! Is more effective and you don't have to wait that way.

Great science center! Lot of activities for kids. Some exhibits were closed, a lot required purchasing additional to the ticket. Lot of cute little events throughout the day like sound boom time and meet an animal! Expensive and basic food like burgers, pizza, sandwiches that are average in taste, too.

Great place to take the kids for fun and education. They had a lot of interactive exhibits that kept them occupied for a while. The planetarium show was Sesame Street themed and it was also good. If you’re looking for an inexpensive place to take the kids when they’re off of school this place fits the bill nicely

Coming here as a child now as an adult to a NEW different feeling! The center has so much more to offer now, definitely didn’t want to show all my photos I recommend everyone to stop by in and review the exhibits, the animals, and learn what life has to offer! Plus a clean bathroom, great parking, & affordable/good food!

Awesome interactive science museum for all ages. Neat exhibits and awesome attractions for hands on experiences the family will enjoy. Minus 1 star because it costs almost $30 for one adult ticket and attractions cost an additional sum on that.

This place is always fun to visit and now I have my son to bring along. When we went today there was clearly some construction going on and not as many exhibits but it was still enjoyable. As of 7/10 they still enforce a strict mask mandate. Very cool place for adults and kids

Great way to spend a few hours ! Brought my daughter & her friend both age 12. Place is big, clean, & there is no lack of air conditioning. Lots of educational tools , signs, mazes, & movies . We walked each of the 4 levels carefully & found new rooms with lots to do ! Take your time & explore they have to offer ! Buy your tickets a day in advance for a discount. Parking is 7$ . I showed my teacher ID & they refunded me 10$

Kids had a blast. A little pricey, but definitely worth it. The shows were fun and entertaining, Boom show was great and loud! The only thing I would not recommend is spending the extra $$$ on the dinosaurs sue exhibit. Paid $32 for a family of 4 , we saw 2 dinosaurs and were the room for 10 minutes.

Went on a solo trip and watched all the shows in the planetarium. There’s not a lot of exhibits , but tons of interactive stuff kids would love. They Ask for vaccine card , very few people on a Sunday . Inside the show was great, I enjoyed everything except the black hole. Maybe coz it’s the last show and I feel so dizzy. The food was ok, burger for $7, water for $3. I also tried the simulator for $5, I was curious but not really worth it. It’s like a 5min ride in universal studios. I recommend the shows in the planetarium.

Cafeteria is nice with good options like pizza, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, Mediterranean bowls and snacks etc. The gift shop is pricey.

This review is being written to help inform parents of what to expect when or of your planning to visit the Liberty Science Center. I would like to first say it’s a great concept for hands on learning experience but it’s a bit boring after a while. We visited with my 1 year old nephew. It was a gifted to him from a dear friend. They are still requiring mask & vaccinations to gain entry. That may be a deal buster for some ppl. The first thing I thought was he’s to young for this place. Turns out I was somewhat correct. They have a few floors and feature different activities for a range of ages I just felt the toddlers could have used some more areas. When you first arrive they screen you for vaccination and I’d verification. You will then have to go through security check point ( I wasn’t at all mad at that, safety first) once in the main lobby kinda reminds me of an airport terminal. They layout is VERY similar. Weather your buying tickets or you have tickets already you still go to the counter to get your wrist bands. Your then free to roam the facility. They have a gift shop and a photo op setup if your interested. We hopped on the elevator to see what we could get into. I believe they have 4 floors and feature a number of exhibits we visited wobbly world, brain games, and Paw Patrol to name a few. I’m not going to lie I was bored after an hour and my nephew was burned out too. We stopped by the Cosmic Cafe to eat lunch. The food was priced decently (I work in Tribeca so anything is cheaper then them 🤣) lunch will cost you roughly $18 per person. I was impressed with how good the food was. Very fresh. My one gripe was how they would tray it as a grab and go. I’m not a fan of ppl having the ability to touch, talk over or handle food they others are buying. As we stood there a person walked up touched a tray of food and put it back. My sister and I immediately looked at each other like NOPE…. I want a fresh one handed to me. They do have a grab and go spot with quick snacks next door if your looking for something quick. Cosmic was hot food. Over all I will say this is a good get your kids out of the house spot. Kids 5 or older will get more from it. They will understand it more. I was also shocked to see how many people had school aged kids there during school hours. I took a few pics as we walked the facility. Hope this helps. PS they also have lockers and an ATM if needed.

Best indoor place for kids to learn and enjoy . Planetarium was splendid and my 3.5 yr old son loved it .The exhibits keeps changing so the visit to this place is not going to be an one time thing .Parking fees is $8 and there is a cafeteria inside to provide good food. Pretty crowded on weekends ,hence try to avoid if you aren’t ready for it yet . Overall a good place to spend a quality time with kids .

It’s a nice place to take your kids for a day trip if you live close. The staff was awesome and me and my son had a lot of fun and it’s a tone of information in the exhibits, The only thing that made the experience a little less enjoyable was the parents. A LOT of them weren’t monitoring their kids and i saw a lot of children being pushed and shoved. We went on the weekend so maybe go during a time when it isn’t as crowded.

I was here at the Liberty science center for an event unrelated to traditional science (it might even be a stretch to call a computer science; it was the React Summit US event). Unfortunately I cannot comment on the museum broadly since we weren't allowed to tour the rest of the museum on that day. However we were graciously accommodated by two performances from the science team showing dry ice and a volcanic explosion.

Great place for kids of all ages and adults! My 2.5 year old spent 3 hours there and we didn't even scratch the surface of all they have to offer. Food at the food court was good and reasonably priced. Only down side is the lack of elevators. Only (1) bank and grandma with bad knees and a stroller made for some longer waits getting places.

We flew in from Atlanta and stopped by here first and spent half the day. Lots to see and do. The films were interesting though sadly, some adults can't seem to put their phones away. The exhibits were clean and educational though some of the interactive stuff was broken. The cafe had vegan options!

It was very fun. Great for kids many things to see and activities. You can also see a movie keep in mind it is a science center so you will be seeing something related. It is a bit pricey. The only down side I would say is there is no food options so we drove to American dream after for food and to go to the mall.

I enjoyed this museum so much. My partners friend is a social media manager at the museum and he offered us free entry for a special event and we decided to go. Very interested museum. They had a laser show inside the planetarium. Definitely worth it. Thanks to our friend Jeremy!!!

There was so much to experience at Liberty Science Center!! We always have a great time, the prices aren't that outrageous, which can be affordable but also the membership has its benefits. I am a member since when you break down the membership cost versus how many visits to make it worthwhile, since we enjoy to explore the different shows in the planetarium 🪐 ✨🪐 or checking out the latest experiments 🧪🧫 we always enjoy our visits.

Great kids science museum easily driveable from most of the NYC area and Long Island. Best for kids in the 4-12 zone, though big kids will definitely enjoy the planetarium. If you want to see all of the exhibits, plan to spend most of opening hours there. Decent cafe with outdoor dining, and indoors areas have excellent ventilation (CO2 <900) for those still being cautious.

The best kids museum we have been to by far. Any time we go only manage to go over about half the attractions))) ot had a sensory room for teeny ones, a crazy climbing contraption for older kids, planetarium which we are still yet to visit, a 3d movie theater where we saw a short documentary about dinosaurs, and a ton of other exhibits. Some are permanent and some change, so there usually something new. The outside digging dinosaur sand box is a must, kids would not leave it. The cafeteria is fast serving and plenty of seating, easy to order from coffee to pizza, Mac n cheese and burgers. Parking lot. Can also get here by light rail. Highly recommend. No need to go through the ticket window if you purchased online, no waiting in line.

Always fun for a family outing. There's enough stuff that stays year round like the animals, fish, climbing wall, Hoberman sphere and the skyscraper exhibit among other things BUT there's also a changing rotation of new and special exhibits that offer something new each month. Additionally LSC offers an "adults only" night where they bring in food vendors, a DJ, booze and tie it all together with some sort of theme. Check out the website for more details on LSC After Dark. AND DON'T FORGET THE PLANETARIUM! It's billed as the biggest in the western hemisphere, if not the world. They do some great shows, especially on the LSC After Dark nights. Getting a membership is worth it if your family goes to museums often.

I love that this museum is a walk away from my house. My 3 year old LOVES it! They always have great new exhibits and reliably fun permanent ones. It's a fantastic place!

Great place for kids as well as for adults to learn and feel the science. I laser show was too good. I went there with my son and we both enjoyed a lot. There are many activities to do and know the science we use in our daily lives. The skeletons of those giant Dinosaurs looks so realistic and unbelievable. Great Place. 👍

Its good Science park. Kids enjoyed lot of activities and they had fun. Did not enjoyed dinosaurs show. It was not worth the 8$ ticket. The video played on dinosaur shows was too slow.

Staff was very friendly, it’s a great place for kids and adults, the best thing was the shows . The shows are charged separately from Admission . They start at a certain time. The best time is to go early not after 1 since they close at 5 , this way you get to see and enjoy all exhibits. Pay by bank card or credit card is best , just in case .

Attended LSC After Dark and it was Y2K night. Parking is free but you need tickets for the event. No kids during these events and it's literally a club in there. A lot more fun than I expected since I haven't been to LSC since HIGH SCHOOL and I am from New York. Glad my friends invited me.
