No sense of urgency - beware this practice. I had an annual physical yesterday and noted the office was clean, and the nurse and PA I encountered yesterday were great. No problems with this appointment. My issue is the horrific customer service I just experienced via the receptionist. I’ve never experienced such terrible customer service at a doctor’s office, ever. I needed to speak with someone regarding blood work today. Spoke with the front desk receptionist just now who said the PA would not be in until the next day to discuss. I pushed back saying it’s urgent, that I’m concerned, and asked to speak with someone else - literally anyone else about the test results. Receptionist responded “no” immediately and said I would hear back if someone felt like it was important enough to reach out to me. Extremely poor customer service and poor phone skills. Concerned patients aren’t taken seriously here. *** Update: The practice had a random nurse (not the nurse practitioner I had the appointment with) call four (!) days later with my results. We were hoping for a solid experience for our annual physicals and this was not it.

I am very disappointed in Vanguard Medical group. I was in several times because I want to change from one birth control method to another. Since contraception is considered preventive care, I was expecting everything to be free of charge. I had my under-arm implant removed, and went back so the doctor can prescribe me birth control pills. I was charged 82 dollars for this office visit instead of my plan paying fully because the doctor asked how the implant removal incision wound is doing and I showed her it is fine - they billed this as not preventive and thus the whole visit is not covered. I called the insurance company and they were very nice to call the billing department of Vanguard to ask them to resubmit the office visit bill with the preventive code (contraception related) so my insurance can cover it in full and I don’t have to pay. Guess what? Vanguard refused and insists that I have to pay for that 82 dollars instead of some big corporation with a pool of money on hand — and they even offered to cover that! This is not about whether I am able to afford 82 dollars or not, but that I should not pay for something I was not supposed to owe in the first place! When I had my annual here, they gave me a sheet to sign acknowledging that if I bring up any “problems”, the annual visit would be charged - thought annual is for identifying possible illness instead of hiding them, but okay fine since I did not have any issue. But for this contraception visit, I was not told that even if the wound is fine, I have to be charged for a non-preventive “problem” simply because the doctor asked. Had I known, I would have hidden the arm from the doctor and not let her look at it for even 1 second.

I have been going to Vanguard, Jersey City for over 5 years. I have never been late to any appointments and have always been very proactive in communicating with Vanguard for any cancellations. I had my annual physical today, and unfortunately my train got delayed and was late by 22 minutes. While, I was in train, I had decency to notify them about my delay. While they claim they have 15 minutes ‘grace’ time, not in my 5 years there I have never seen them adopting those rules. Countless times I have seen people coming in late for various reasons and end up fulfilling their appointments. When I reached there, they said i passed my ‘Grace’ Time so they would me to reschedule. I’m not local, so rescheduling would be very difficult so I asked them to kindly squeeze me in; I was also willing to wait. I didn’t have any medical emergency so it’s fine but it’s astonishing to see a medical group treating it’s patients in such a manner. It could very well be a medical emergency, which could very well ignored, let alone completely refuting a long term patient relationship. Receptionists there were always bad, completely lacking compassion and empathy, now they have hired more incompetent people sitting outside andit’s only gotten worse. Definitively going to switch. Good riddance!

Folks who describe really shady, evasive billing practices are absolutely correct — if they can force a visit, they will, so they can charge insurance. I urgently needed a prescription, spent ages on the phone with a receptionist, and had to call back a week later only to discover nothing had been done (and that I needed to drop everything for a video visit if I was to get an emergency refill in time). Forget my job, or childcare responsibilities, or health — if I wouldn't get on the phone that day, I guess I could just rot. No one apologized. The providers themselves have been perfectly fine and professional, but the organization as a whole leaves a lot to be desired.

DISHONEST MEDICAL/BILLING PRACTICES - They charged me $115.81 for my wellness visit. And looking at the other reviews and my conversation with their billing department, it looks like it is well-crafted through the waivers they make you sign. My wellness visit with EMILY CHILDERS, PA-C was a normal wellness visit. I was in and out of the facility in less than 45 minutes. We generally spoke that all is fine. And like all normal wellness visits, upon being asked several times, I happen to mention that I have headaches (with the background that my headaches had been there for a few years, and I have spoken to several doctors about them earlier with no resolution) and, I had foot pain after moving to New York due to excess walking. I also mentioned using Advil to manage the pain and it's fine. A few days later, I received a bill of $115.81 for this wellness visit. I thought it was a mistake, and that's perfectly normal. I called their billing, and the first thing the person from billing did was check my waivers. And then he got legal with me and told me that as I signed the waivers and as I happened to mention my headache and foot pain, it was no more only a wellness visit. I don't think the billing is fair, and when I asked him to talk to a supervisor, he claimed to be the supervisor as well. So, beware when you visit them.

DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE!!!! Wish I could give 0 star to the whole team - the doctor, the billing center, the receptionist, and the management team. I made an appointment for a regular annual check which should be 100% covered by the insurance company. The doctor, Krystal Green, sent my samples to the test lab without my consent or the disclosure of the possible additional expense. I ended up receiving a $1000 bill with 7 tests that I was not aware of! Their billing team made a mistake clearing my payment until I called them and proved that I paid them already. I also called their manager to investigate this case further. A lady, Natasha, gave me her direct phone number but never be able to provide any useful information. I called several times, and left the voice message, no follow up from them. No disclosure of the test plan, messy billing and payment operation, absence of government and management team, I have no idea if there is any reason people should visit here again.

I’ve been a patient there for over 4 years, and I had my annual checkups every year. I never had any problems. The last visit was with dr.Green for my annual checkup. During those 3 minutes of conversation with her, she asked if anything bothered me and I honestly replied that I had a trouble to fall asleep because of my anxiety, which she prescribed me a medication in the past - nothing new. I was really surprised when I got a bill for my annual checkup 200$ because they didn’t let me know that dr. Green was out of network, but also they charged me for a regular visit 165$ and 10$ for an “emotional stability check” lol. So, instead of going for a free wellness visit, I paid over 320$. This, in my mind, very dishonest practice and I am very disappointed . Reading some comments here I’m not going to argue, but I am not going to come back anymore.

Dishonest billing practices. I went there for my annual wellness visit last month. Needless to say I was surprised when I was charged for an outpatient visit and billed for a $40 copay - this was just my annual physical! After speaking with billing and the doctor's office, I was shocked to learn that because I discussed in my annual physical that I was having trouble sleeping and also had a scar that wasn't healing right, that elevated the visit beyond their definition of an annual physical. This was during the part of the annual physical when the provider asks, "Anything bothering you?" I didn't realize that this was just a fishing expedition to get me to give information that they could then bill me for. I was floored. I personally will not be returning to this practice given these ridiculous billing practices.

My whole family has been going to this office for a few years and the doctor we were seeing, Breanna Mesa was great, always patient, taking her time to explain things, always very responsive. She recently left the office and the service provided when we needed an important document for our insurance was very disappointing. I have been told i will receive an important form I need for the insurance in 5-7 days, followed up during that period and have been told that i need to wait 7 days. It has been 9 business days, and I am being told that the provider hasn’t completed it and they don’t know if I will get it in time. It is a complete lack of respect that will cost our family a significant amount of money in medical premium reductions. We would have appreciated being told that they wont bother filling out the form so we can plan differently and do the same tests in another clinic that would provide the form.

There has been several occasions when my toddler nephew had fevers, this clinic and the doctors here just refused to see my nephew. Despite my family had made an appointment ahead of time, the clinic doesn’t even have the courtesy to give the my family a call to inform them before they arrived to the clinic. More importantly I’ve never heard of doctors don’t see sick patients especially when a toddler! Despite your Covid policy, I believe your team had handled this with the utmost unprofessional matter. Not only did your team lacking common courtesy but doctors lacking sympathy towards patients (small children)!

The initial visit was great but the follow up wasn’t. The office did not get the test results even though I called twice a week ahead and asked again when in the waiting room. The doctor did not show that she cared much. Overall, a pretty cold and uncaring experience

Overall I like the doctors here. However I just had a virtual appointment and they told me to go in to have a flu test done. I went through the patient entrance and was redirected to go outside, through a parking lot, and wait for someone to get me. I cannot believe that I am made to stand outside, when there’s an empty waiting area inside, all to have a flu test administered. All doctors, and patients wear masks while in the office so why am I standing outside, in a parking lot, cold, and sick at my primary doctors office? I was told it’s been the standard procedure for the past 3 years but this is the first time I’ve ever come in sick and sent to the parking lot.

My experience with Vanguard Medical Group is nothing short of excellent thanks to Dr. Sally Mravcak. Dr. Sally, as I refer to her, is knowledgeable, patient and respectful. She is a true professional. As a patient, I feel at ease when visiting her office because I trust Dr. Sally and believe that her diagnosis and treatment is always accurate. I would highly recommend Dr. Sally Mravcak as a family physician without any hesitation.

Have been coming here for 6 or so years. Initially great, saw the same provider consistently. Then never the same provider twice. More PAs and nurse practitioner visits than doctors. Most recent experience with front office was bad. They called me to reschedule twice when their providers weren't available. Apparently my labs also had to be scheduled within a week of the visit otherwise they're no good. When I arrived for the rescheduled visit at 4:43 for a 4:30 appointment and was told I had passed the 15 minute grace period. I didn't argue it. When asking to reschedule my physical, they told me first availability is Feb 22. A nurse walked by and heard that was was surprised - "**** doesn't have an appointment until the 22nd!?" I raised that I was told I need to get lab work done within a week of the appointment otherwise they're "no good" (I had recent lab work), so I asked if I'd need to retake labs. They said if it's over a month, I do. But then the same person that told the receptionist that it needs to be a month said March is also fine. Sketchy. I then asked if an earlier sick visit was available. First available was two weeks away. No idea why they take patients if they're so busy that they need to reschedule appointments multiple times and they can't see a sick patient for two weeks. Too busy to give good, timely patient care. You have to predict when you'll be unwell and schedule 2-6 weeks before.

I always had a wonderful experience with Dr Sally. She don’t look at you just as a patient and the wonderful thing is that I like is she remember your name she don’t have to keep looking down at the computer every time she want to call you by name Dr Sally is a wonderful doctor. Thanks, Doc.

I've been coming here for a little while for basic medical stuff. Prior to 2022 I thought the office was fine, but in the past year or so it's really gone downhill. 1) I had a non-urgent but important-to-me medical issue that I saw a doctor there for. They ran full bloodwork, which came back normal and there was no follow-up. Like, ok you seem to be fine, good luck! I didnt think much of this at the time (ie, I just figured maybe it wasn't a medical problem) but later I saw a teledoc for same issue and I passed him the blood work, and he was actually able to help me. 2) I had a COVID booster appointment - very simple. I came in to an empty waiting room. Good sign so far - should be no wait. Waited for 30 minutes until EVERYONE who came in after me was seen. Eventually had to get back to work so I decided to leave. Checked with reception, and they only then started mixing the shot for me. So I had to wait even longer for that, and then of course I would need to wait 15 more minutes afterward. I don't have that kind of time in the workday for a simple procedure. I made an appointment, so I expect you to be ready for it when I arrive. So I did leave at that point and did not get the booster. Second time actually that this happened. Fun fact, I have never been able to get a COVID booster at this location. So I think based on the latest frustrating experience I will transfer to another office that respects my time. 2 stars as I had previously had reasonably good experiences prior to 2022.

The staff is welcoming thorough experienced and attentive. They do their best to make the experience as pleasant as possible. Dr. Sally Mravcak is kind and caring. And focused on treating the whole patient addressing both mind and body. Taking time to listen to each patient and making you a partner in your own healthcare journey. The space is immaculate and cheery. Highly recommended!

The PA I saw, Swetal Patel, is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and friendly - she has a wonderful bedside manner and answered every question/concern I raised. It makes sense that the professionals at Vanguard Medical Group are in such high demand. The staff and billing department are also wonderful. An A+ facility that I highly recommend.

I visited Sally A. Mravcak and she was much better than another doctor I visited previously. The only problem was with payment. My husband paid via portal and they could not match my account with his payment, and it takes long time to investigate the issue together with billing department. :(

Any experience you have at any of the Vanguard Medical Group locations is nothing short of a pleasurable one. Everyone from the providers to the staff provide top notch care and compassion. You will not regret putting your healthcare in the hands of these outstanding providers. I recommend Vanguard 100%! Dr. Mravcak was detailed, warm, and welcoming. My MA Patricia, was so great at making me feel comfortable during my visit.

Dr. Mravack is my families primary doctor (my 10 year old, 2 month old and myself). Dr. Mravack is great, she is friendly, patient, caring, and really likes to get to know her patients. My daughter enjoys going to see Dr. Mravack. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There is never a wait as they work together to make sure you are seen as soon as possible. Staff continue to wear their mask and require patients to wear their mask as well. Waiting area and rooms are clean and well kept. Overall would recommend Vanguard to my family and friends.

I had a very good visit at Vanguard medical group in Jersey City! The staff was great, and very warm welcoming. The Phlebotomist was the best. She was one and done with taking my blood! I really appreciate this great time! Thank you so much!!!

Everyone was so welcoming! I’ve been looking for a PCP recently since my recent insurance changed and I’m happy I stumbled across this medical center. Not a lot of medical offices in Jersey city have a lab on-site so this was a huge plus for me.

Vanguard in JC is the absolute best. My first visit ever and the staff was very nice. I didn’t have to wait long for my appointment after arriving for a check up and they did blood work in almost less than an hour. The doctor was also very knowledgeable. Great service, very helpful, easy and overall just a great experience.

The BEST! Very helpful, attentive assistants and so are the doctors. Especially Dr. Breanna Mesa cares for her patients, is courteous, listens carefully and explains procedures and alike very clearly. On top of that, their scheduling is good, never had to wait too long - time around 10-20 minutes to be seen. I feel like that this amount of time is absolutely reasonable. When it comes to prescriptions or notes to pass onto the doctor, the front ladies have shown great sense of responsibility!!! Can't say anything negative. Edit: I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Sally Mravcak, too. Respectful, honest, and she took her time to both listen to me carefully and to examine my ailment.

This office is the best ever. Love my Doctor Kara. 😀One of a kind. The whole staff is amazing. They all work together as a team. I can count on this team when I don't fell well. Sitting waiting for blood work, and so relax at the same time. Visit you won't regret it. 😀😃🙂 Have a Bless! Day

This review is for their Billing department alone, which is completely awry. While every time I visit, I check in with the front office before I leave and if there is a copay due, I pay it by card right there before leaving and leave only when they tell me I am good to go. I recently began receiving a couple of online bills from them through MyProviderLink. Innocently enough, using GuestPay, I paid those bills sent for visits in July, one of which was just to return a blood pressure device that was used to track readings, on 08/31. Surprisingly, one payment of $35 was credited to Vanguard Medical Group Jersey City NJ and another of the same amount to Vanguard Medical Group Fairfield NJ on the same day. i only ever visit the Jersey City facility. It seemed off to me but I was completely taken back when yesterday, I received another online bill through MyProviderLink for one of those two same infamous July visits. I weant ahead and created an account with MyProvdierLink to be better able to track and saw that in history, only one of the payments made and credited on 08/31 reflects. To add to that, they send me another bill yesterday for one of those same two visits?! What is the game here? When I called the Billing number provided, all the lady would say when I took her over the sequence was that they have a glitch and I could just ignore the latest statement. I have no written confirmation of the same though and it still doesn't explain why only one of the two payments made and credited to them on 08/31 reflects at their end, whereas my credit card statement has both, one to Jersey City and one to Fairfield! Not sure what game their billing department is up to!

Me and my wife recently visited the Jersey city Vanguard medical center for our annual medical exam. This was our first visit and we were really happy with the service. The staff / phlebotomy/ doctors were all very friendly and professional. They provided adequate time to go through our case in detail and also guided us through the process as well as all our questions. I would definitely recommend this hospital to anyone.
