I don't understand the hype for it. Since only 10% of it is open to visitors. Ticket is ₹60, you get to see the things used by Royals in their day to day life along with Pics and Miniatures. The only good thing to see are the vintage cars.

This place is completely under the TAJ administration. Part of the palace is open for the tourists. The museum inside the palace is well-maintained. I would recommend everyone to visit the palace once. This is the best of all the spots . Vintage cars are also there for display.

This used to be excellent place for visit, witness beautiful palace. However now whatever approachable part of palace is just okay. Nothing great to offer visitors. Totally 3 to 4 rooms/halls are available for visit with photographs of royal family and their rituals. Normal weapons and other items are on display. Nothing great in museum. Few vintage cars are on display but if you visit in second half you can not enjoy seeing this due to heavy light reflection. Authorities must look at solution for same. Overall feeling is not good. If not having enough time you can avoid or skip the same. Entry ticket is rs 30 per person. Parking facilities with rs 30 parking fees.

A very fantastic and elegant palace in Jodhpur. This palace has a very rich history and architecture. My personal favourite part of the palace visit was the car collection of the Maharaj RR, Cadilac, Etc.... The structure and architecture of the place are top-notch.

An architectural marvel. Beautiful monument. It was ahead of it's time then and now too. Since it is a private property and the king do stay in the Palace, so a very small part of it is open to the public. If you wanna see the rest, then you better be ready to spend in L and C😀. A lucky draw of two winners every day would go a long way in making the Palace more interesting to visit. But then the exclusivity of it is what is making the Palace stay on top of the charts in its category. Visit and clicked pictures ticked. I'm happy I did make that 2 hrs trip.

Umaid Bhawan Palace is the youngest of the Indian palaces... Timing for common visitors is from 09:00 AM to 5 PM. The fee for Indians is 30 INR and Foreigner is 60 INR... This Hotel is one of the best hotels in India as well as the world over... The palace itself is a beautiful structure, visible to the public from the museum entrance...

Overrated. And waste of time if you are a serious history fan. The Museum is just a 10 minutes visit, and is housed in only one small block of the palace. You will see some pictures of the Royal Family , a collection of watches, and some vintage cars. That's it. And if you still visit. Don't hire the Guides. Everything is self explanatory, they won't add anything to your visit.

Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum exhibits an exclusive range of items belonging to the Maharajah and the royal family. Located within the Umaid Bhawan Palace, the museum has items ranging from weapons, an array of stuffed leopards, antiques, crockery to various trophies. Exhibits also comprise a huge banner presented by Queen Victoria and a collection of clocks. Within this private museum attached to the palace are displayed arms, furniture, antique clocks and China vases that formed a part of the private collection of the Maharajahs of Jodhpur. Stuffed leopards, and weapons used by the rulers are also displayed in the museum. Tourists can also view a wide collection of crockery, cutlery, rocks, watches, photographs and other antiques in the museum.

Only few of the items in the museum are interesting, the rest were passable. The lighting was horrible and it was difficult to take a good photo of the displayed items. The vintage car was displayed behind a glass wall and with the strong daylight reflection, the visibility to the collection was impossible. We couldn't enjoy any of the car display and taking decent photos of these were out of questions. Other than the building itself, the museum doesn't worth a visit. We finished our museum visit within 20mins.

The palace is royal. Overall a good museum, with antique piece of arts and other used items of the royal family. But entry ticket is rs 60 per person. And that is not worth. Well the museum is really beautiful. Antique things to see. But still. In 60 rupees they should also provide palace tour or anything else. It took less than an hour to see the whole museum.

Nice place to walk around. They have a good collection of artifacts. However I would not recommend any guide for this as there are detailed descriptions for each and proper walkways to guide you. They have a room dedicated to clocks and this is something really fascinating. You will be amazed to see the vast collection and some even working till date. You can read some of the history text and walk around the courtyard area They also have a very good vintage car collection before exiting which should not be missed if you are an enthusiast

Since I am not close to being rich enough to afford a room in the Umaid Bhawan Palace Hotel... We decided to visit the museum... Entry is 30rs for Indian adults. 10rs for children and 120rs for foreigners. All the rates are very reasonable. Then on entry you can engage a guide for 200rs. Again very reasonable. Engaging a guide here is 100% essential as these guides donot spout nonsense like other places. This is real history and didn't happen too long ago so the info is super accurate. Without a guide you will just be lost. The guided tour takes about 1hr.30mins. Approximately. Can take upto 2hours also if moving slowly. The guide we got was very engaging and had a pride of doing his job properly. That's always a treat to watch. Very nice experience. Super clean and a must visit.

What attracted me the most was the collection of cars that this place has. Also, the place is rich with history and culture and if one enjoys visiting museums and live history through his eyes, she should definitely visit this place. After Mehrangarh Fort, for history lovers, this should be the second best place to visit.

The place is accessible from city. An auto should be a good option and if you are travelling in the city. Parking facility is good. The typical required time is about 2 hours. The museum consists a lot of private collection and day to day items used the royal family. The passion related to sports is very evident and is worth spending some time. The vintage car collection is priceless and wonderful to see. Overall a good place to visit

Another beautiful creation and one of the heritage properties of India. Here you can get to know about - current king, their ancestors and all family members. How the palace was built and history of its creation. You will get to see some of the vintage car collection by his highness. Worth visiting this place and spending 30-45 minutes to know our history.

It is a place with very few rooms permitted for public with display of some really good items on display. The collection of vintage cars is good but if you visit after noon it's just wastage of time as due to reflection it is not clearly visible. Overall average experience. It just remained the place on tick mark list. Visit only if you have time left and mostly in morning.

The museum is open for public. Can be completed in an hour as it's just a part of the palace. Rest of the palace is hotel. Considering the time and things to see inside the museum 250 rupees is too high. Some souvenir shops inside. And a vintage car collection inside glass chambers so cars are not visible properly. Overall well constructed palace.

When you enter the premise of the bhawan you can see the lane is bloomed with the beautiful bougainvillea flower. And the museum palace is so beautiful mesmerizing. Beautiful architecture at the hotel though its a very young palace build in 20th century. As like other museums displayed history and articles used by Royal family of Rajputana culture. You can hire a guide for rs. 100. Can be covered within an hour. The restaurant is good too. Vintage luxury cars are an interesting watch. The majority of the place is closed down for visitors as it's a hotel. It's possible to walk to/from this place and the city, nice roads and view.

There are 5 sections of Umaid bhawan... 1 section for museum, 1 section for rent on destination occasions, 1 section for stores, 1section for cars and 1section in which the Royal family lives. What I liked here most is the collection of cars in here. Museum is good too. But I'm not a kind of person who loves just museum... I'm sharing car collection pics below.

There is a museum in it with various royal artifacts which are very interesting and the palace is beautifully maintained also. The classic and vintage cars of the maharaja are kept on display here. There are beautiful paintings on ceiling of the palace and the architecture is very beautiful.

The Palace is divided into three functional parts – the residence of the royal family, a luxury Taj Palace Hotel, and a Museum focusing on the 20th-century history of the Jodhpur Royal Family. The palace complex is set in an area of 26 acres (11 ha) of land including 15 acres (6.1 ha) of gardens. The palace consists of a throne chamber, a private meeting hall, a Durbar Hall to meet the public, a vaulted banquet hall, private dining halls, a ballroom, a library, an indoor swimming pool and spa, a billiards room, four tennis courts, two marble squash courts, and long passages. The interior central dome sits above the sky blue inner dome. The inner vaulted dome is a major attraction in the palace which rises to 103 feet (31 m) in the interior part which is capped by an outer dome of 43 feet (13 m) height. The entry to the palace has decorations of the Coat of arms of the Rathore Royal family. The entry leads to the lobby which has polished black granite flooring. The lounge area has pink sandstone and marble floors. Maharaja Gaj Singh, known as "bapji", stays in a part of the palace. The principal architecture of the palace is an amalgam of Indo-Saracenic, Classical Revival and Western Art Deco styles. It is also said the Maharaja and his architect Lanchester had considered the features of Buddhist and Hindu edifices such as the Temple Mountain-Palaces of Burma and Cambodia, and in particular the Angkor Wat in preparing the layout and design of the palace. The interior of the palace is in art deco design. The interior decoration is credited to J.S. Norblin, a refugee from Poland, who created the frescoes in the throne room on the east wing. An architectural historian commented that "it is the finest example of Indo-deco. The forms are crisp and precise". The hotel wing of the palace is run by the Taj Group of Hotels and is called the 'Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace Jodhpur.  The famous Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra married Nick Jonas here in 2018. The museum has exhibits of stuffed leopards, a very large symbolic flag given to Maharaja Jaswant Singh by Queen Victoria in 1877, lighthouse shapes. The classic cars of the Maharajas are also on display in the garden in front of the museum.

e Mum covers one part of the palace, which was originally the residence of the former royal family of Jodhpur. Maharaja Umaid Singh was known for his fascination for the western lifestyle. He had hired Henry Vaughan Lanchester, a prolific Edwardian architect, to construct the Umaid Bhavan palace. The history of Umaid Bhawan Palace dates back to 19th century when a saint had cursed the royal family that a drought would hit the province once the kingship comes to an end. Jodhpur experienced a serious drought and famine during the 1920s, which lasted for three consecutive years. It was then that the farmers sought the help of their ruler Umaid Singh, to help them get some work. The people’s king decided to construct this luxurious palace to provide employment to his farmers. Today one part of the palace houses the royal museum, which displays an amazing collection of items that belonged to the royal family. The museum displays vintage items ranging from a ride array of royal weapons to even stuffed leopards. You would also be astonished to see some amazing antiques and fascinating crockery. Anytime between July and December would be the best time to visit Jodhpur. You won’t want the summer sun to kill your senses.

Entry ticket is ₹30 per adult.

(Translated by Google) This huge palace still shows today the opulence in which the Maharajas live. Behind the cream sandstone facades, tons of Makrana marble and Burmese teak are displayed which adorn the interior. The other part has been converted into a luxury hotel and a museum. An essential detour during my stay in Jodhpur, this one has weapons, watches, clocks with unusual shapes, paintings, porcelain and French furniture.

The palace is the most beautiful but the museum is the most boring aspect of the city. Anything and everything that's worth seeing is part of Taj. I would ask you to not buy tickets and waste 30 minutes. Just go in the main entrance, go to the antique car collection which is the most interesting aspect and is free. That place has the best view of the palace. Take a couple of good photos from there and be done.

Palace turned part museum and part hotel, this property is managed by the Taj Group of Hotels. Entry to museum and vintage car collection is open to public for a small fee of Rs 40. One good thing here was the availability of wheelchair, which we needed as my mom had a badly sprained ankle and could not move around on foot at all. The museum is a typical one with pictures and artefacts of the royal family. One can see peacocks in the garden as well.

Four stars for the building - a magnificent piece of Rajasthan’s heritage. Perched on Chittar Hill, the highest point in Jodhpur, Umaid Bhawan Palace inspires with exotic views of the historical Blue City, vast sand dunes, and intimidating Mehrangarh Fort. The last of the great palaces of India, the property houses a family museum, as well as the resplendent Umaid Bhawan Palace hotel managed by the Taj group. The museum displays an amazing collection of items that belonged to the royal family - vintage items ranging from a wide array of royal weapons to stuffed leopards, antiques and fascinating crockery. There is a room with a multitude of time pieces on display and is in itself worth the visit, along with the collection of vintage automobiles. Viewing the cars is a bit of a struggle though, especially as the day advances, owing to the dark interiors and the reflection on the protective glass barriers. On the negative side, one does get pestered to hire a guide, but the same could be said of most historical sites in India.

The Umaid Bhawan Museum is located inside the Umaid Bhavan Palace and little far from the city. It is really very well maintained and showcases many of the antique belongings of the Maharaja and the royal family. You can witness display of many items like weapons, crockery items, various trophies, amazing collection of clocks. One separate section displays vintage car collection. There are many picturesque spots to capture your photos. An interesting thing that guide informed us is that the current royal family of Jodhpur still lives here. You can't access the whole palace as it is used as a hotel by the Tag Group. If you're interested in history then this is a must visit place for you. This museum really preserves our heritage. There is a very neat & green park too but entry inside is restricted. Just in front of the entry gate, you can have a view of entire Jodhpur city. Try to buy ticket before 5PM just before the closure of ticket window and you can stay there till 6PM. Entry fee: Indian Rs 60 (Half for the students - Try to carry I-card) and foreigner is 200. Parking charge: Rs. 60

It is a n architectural marvel, truly an edifice and is almost 75 years old. The foundation was laid in 1928 and construction of the palace was completed in 1943 under the guidance of chief architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya and Sir S.S. Jacob. The erection of the palace was done under the aegis H.V. Lanchester. The foundation’s ground was crushed by Maharaja Umaid Singh himself upon whom the palace is named after all. Well it is an amazing palace living up to its name. What to look for: 1) The museum inside the palace ( it takes around 30-45 mins) 2) The vintage Car collection. 3) The view from the parking . The tour can be better if they take you around the Hotel premises which is not as of now.

Very well maintained and the view from the mahal is beautiful. The palace is divided into three parts, one part is the residence of the royal family, the second part is a hotel and the third part is a museum having a nice collection. Only ground floor is accessible to the general public. Most of the other parts are restricted. The place speaks of rich history and majestic architecture. One should not miss the vintage cars on display just across the museum while entering the museum. The entry fee is also very cheap @ Rs. 30

Nice place. Beautifully built palace. Now only some parts are open there as in some of the parts the royal family is staying and most of the parts are being taken by Taj group. Some stories are there about the royal families. Entry fees is Rs. 30 only so you can go explore there. Most interesting part is the Car collection. I loved the antique cars over there. Overall I liked the place only due to the collection of antique cars.

  • 4/5 Bidisha B. 2 years ago on Google

Umaid Bhawan is one of the prime attraction for tourists in Jodhpur. The palace is very well maintained and really good to go through. They also have a wide collection of vintage cars in display. The only glitch is tourists are not allowed to go till the top of the this Palace Museum.

  • 3/5 Arjun S. 2 years ago on Google
The Umaid Bhawan Museum comes across as a bit of a disappointment. There are limited galleries containing limited, unimpressive artifacts that do not truly reflect the grandeur of this great family. Perhaps the most striking part is the restoration of several large murals on the walls. There are a few vintage cars on display, but are boxed tightly behind glass that doesn't allow for a good view. One expected better. The palace itself is a beautiful structure, as visible to the public from the museum entrance.

  • 5/5 Shashank M. 1 year ago on Google
We just love this place. Beautiful design of British art and architecture. It's 5% area normally we can visit. Most of the area is owned by the local TAJ group. Cold water is available for visitors. Tickets cost 60 for each person.

  • 5/5 Uma S. 1 year ago on Google
Fabulous museum. It's a treasure trove of history. The artefacts displayed are a delight to see and one gets such a deep sense of history. Loved the vintage car collection. I could spend a few days soaking in the history itself. Must visit.

  • 3/5 Lipi M. 1 year ago on Google
An insight into royal history. It's all about what has the royal family done to build this place, their rich taste, how they've spent millions (at that time) into getting this built. In the museum there's all the things that has been collected form their travels across. Shop inside the museum is expensive. The only attraction for me were the vintage cars.

  • 3/5 Milind N. 1 year ago on Google
One part of the palace is closed as it it converted to a hotel. And one part is a private residence of the royal family. Only the museum is open to the public. Guide charges are 600 per group. It's a beautiful palace though.

  • 3/5 Nehal N. 1 year ago on Google
Museum is not so good and not worth watching. It hardly has 4 rooms, with just picture. The room with vintage cutlery, dressing table, and Vintage clocks are good to view. The lawns, hotel is not allowed to view If planning one must watch Vintage Cars. The outside view of the Museum is very nice.

  • 5/5 Aritra B. 1 year ago on Google
Very good collection of items belonging to the Jodhpur royal family. They have swords, Armor, furniture, wine glasses, polo equipment, etc. There are also some nice pictures and portraits. There are also detailed stories of two activities the royals were passionate about - polo and aviation. A separate building houses some of their vintage cars as well. The drive to the palace is very good; you can see the town spread out below as you climb the hill to get to the entrance.

  • 5/5 Yogendra Y. 1 year ago on Google
Recommended to visit after reading/gathering enough historical knowledge about the palace. Many antiques & equipments of yore find themselves on display here. This museum is for people who have a finer taste in things. Vintage cars are a good sight too.

  • 5/5 devanand s. 11 months ago on Google
Tourists/ visitors can enter this museum by entrance ticket during the visiting hours, which otherwise is a five star hotel which is open only for the room guests of the hotel. The museum is in a part of this palace with a large collections of royal items nicely displayed in glass cases. One should visit this museum to also have nice glimpse of the beautiful palace from the outside which is otherwise not open for local public and tourists

i was travelling solo this november. my honest observations that i experienced . i booked this property after reading about it on lonely planet and reading great reviews on tripadvisor. but honestly i found this place overrated. and would think twice before staying here again. 1. the location of the property is in the old city part, the approaching road to the property is too narrow. definitely gets crowed if more than one groups arrive at the same time, which happened with me. since i had only one luggage with me, i preferred to get down and walk the distance instead and getting stuck there for a long time 2. my stay started bad. the hotel staff who took my luggage, broke my trolley bag handle accidentally. it can happen, but their response after that was disaapointing. i requested them that can they repair the luggage (as i still had many other places to visit after jaipur) and was willing to pay for the repair cost. they told me they would finf out and let me know. and than no follow up. i felt as it was a mistake of their staff, they could be more helpful. if i could do it myself i definitely wouldnt have asked for their help. 3. the rooms as mentioned in many posts are too small. i was travelling solo and still felt there was no place to move in the room. if two people are staying in these rooms, there definitely wont have much space to move. take the bigger rooms if u do decide to stay here. 4. only excellent thing of this place is the food and restaurant staff. very helpful, take care of all your need. make sure you are having an amazing time I Love The Place

Umaid Bhawan Museum is a captivating destination that I recently had the pleasure of visiting. Housed within the majestic Umaid Bhawan Palace, the museum showcases a remarkable collection of artifacts and exhibits that offer a glimpse into the opulent lives of the royal family. The grandeur of the palace itself is awe-inspiring, and the museum beautifully showcases its history and heritage. From intricate artworks to royal memorabilia, the exhibits provide a fascinating insight into the bygone era. If you're interested in history and architecture, a visit to Umaid Bhawan Museum is a must, as it promises an enriching and memorable experience.

This is far from jodhpur city, the price of ticket is just 60 ruppees per person. But there spend money also on taxy or auto. So i think it is not justify with the price and time. The Place is not too old it is new place in 20th century. Mostly there are pictures of modern kings, some old watches. Literally there is nothing special, There are some classic cars Like Rolls Royce, Cadillac. I liked so much those cars.

  • 4/5 aditya d. 9 months ago on Google
Umaid Bhawan Palace and museum is a great place to visit but it is far off from the other tourist places so for going there you need to plan for it explicitly. The outside eatables are not allowed here. It can be easily reached by the cabs and auto rickshaws. The museum is serene and also should visit the car collection of Maharajas there. Would recommend it to go either early morning or late evening.

  • 5/5 David B. 8 months ago on Google
I really enjoyed the majestic building and it is the last royal palace to have been built. Can't see the whole palace as it is used as a hotel but the area you can see has wall art that is still bold and vivid in colour. The grounds are very well kept and the place is very clean, there are sprawling views of the landscape and a small collection of vintage cars.

  • 3/5 Ankita B. 6 months ago on Google
The last built palace in India is this palace. The palace is divided into portions, there is a small portion for the museum and the larger portion is maintained for the hotel. The view of the hotel is spectacular. It is so beautifully carved and feels like a dreamland to stay. The museum part is small and feels like a waste of money if you are someone who enjoys visiting museums. But visiting the museum is the only way through which you can enter unless you are very rich and can afford 80k per day to stay in the hotel. There are govt recognised guides available incase you want to hire someone. There is also a small canteen for people to grab something to eat. Beware of an astrologer who sits beside the last room of the museum. He pretends to be from the ministry of British culture but is completely fake. He says he is a palmistry person but in reality reads ur horoscope online. He charges very high and answers very limited and easy questions.

  • 5/5 Aakash 8 months ago on Google
It's very great place and one of our heritage. The museum is not very much big but very cinematic place and kings and queens items that was used. The car collection is very fantastic. Great place i suggest you to go and explore. The charges of palace is for( Indian is 60 and foreigner is 200 per person visit) if you are students it's will half. Carry identity card for proof.

  • 4/5 Mohd I. 6 months ago on Google
It's like any other museum of Rajasthan. A very small museum to attract crowd towards Umaid Bhawan which is a Heritage hotel over a hill. It looks like a very new palace which is made just few years back but it's actually old enough as per it's history. It also has collection of vintage cars just opposite the main building. It has canteen and stalls of handicrafts goods. Entry ticket is around Rs.60 pp.

One of the major tourist attractions of Jodhpur.... Visited Musium only .... The palace looks awesome from outside.... The watch collection was good... Must see the vintage car collection... Enjoy 😊

  • 3/5 Saptarshi C. 2 months ago on Google • 14 reviews New
Its an okayish museum with some fancy collections, where the guides are more interested about telling you which rich people rented it in how much price or which movie shootings took place rather than the architecture and history. Only two good points are the watch and vintage car collection. Better to go without a guide and take time to observe.
