Greta hike! Includes some very steep inclines and natural formation rock pathways. It’s been difficult looking for a good natural hike around the area without having to go to far away. offers spectacular views of Fuji, even on a bit of a hazy evening! highly recommend!

Stunning views, slightly challenging in parts. Better to avoid in heavy rain.

Pleasant, easy-ish walk with a couple of nice views of the way. (You have to pay to enter/leave depending on the route you take as the start/end is at a shrine. We didn't know this and the old shrine lady chased us as we tried to leave 🤷)

Beautiful hiking, and convenient to visit many shrines along the way. Like most hiking trails here in Japan, it is not very well marked, so be prepared - I relied on a map and compass app, but did circle back once or twice. Beautiful views of Kamakura, and very peaceful forest with lots of birds and animals. IMO, there are too many slick rocks for children or anyone with movement limitations, and the path to the trailhead from town is just walking on a narrow road. overall nice hike, and well-maintained.

A very pleasant course especially during this period. Cooling and nice breeze. Can be a little bit chilly, suggest to bring a light blazer. Entire eastern route takes about 1.5-2 hrs. U will pass by Kamakura Country club too. And on the way back to Kamakura Metropolitan hotel, you will pass by this fruits stalls…. U must try their melon… very sweet & reasonable (price $20)

A good hike with almost natural trail which is a bit narrow. The viewpoint is good but not that great. Adding photo from the viewpoint below. Also, it’s difficult to find the start of this trail. It’s almost covered in green.

Get started early and this is a really nice hike. Start too late and it'll be crowded.

Loved it. Very peaceful and with amazing views. Unfortunately, one end of the trail goes through the Kenchoji temple grounds and therefore requires a 500yen fee.

Easy short hike with nice scenery. Great for dates! I see kids, couples all dressed in their normal outfits on this hike... occasionally ladies wearing sandals/flats!

Very easy hike, about 3.7km. Some forks are not well signposted though, and certain short sections could be tricky if slippery.

We started the walk at Kencho-ji Temple, the concrete steps are steep and lots of them. A Beautiful view awaits from the top looking down to the sea, and over the town with the temple peeping through the trees, a place to rest and buy a souvenir. I thought I had done the hard part getting to the top, but the rest of the walk was a bit more difficult. Lots of careful walking between tree roots, rocks, and more steep parts, someone has thoughtfully placed a rope in one of the awkward spots to ascend/ descend, the walk is not a complete descent but rather ups and downs. Some areas are flat to catch your breath. It is a lovely walk, and hiking sticks would be helpful. We did see a few squirrels which was lovely. At the end of the walking trail, at Kamakugaru Shrine - it was a pleasant walk through the pretty town to get to the bus stop to return to Kamakura which was an extra bonus, lovely homes, and friendly people. If you like to take in your surroundings, and just an average walker, then this walk takes 3 to 3.5hrs on a warm day.
