Despite the rainy day we still decided to visit the park. It was worth every raindrop on our heads. The park is breathtaking. Just wish they put up more lights in the evening and left the park open an hour longer. It’s so beautiful. Even the gardeners were so friendly and took their time talking to us in English explaining about the history of the park!!!

A fantastic garden worth visiting. Impressive layout and flora. Calm and peaceful too. Travel tips: it's on a hill and gets windy. We went on a cold wet day and was glad to be wearing the wet weather gear.

This is an amazing place. Get the Samurai Pass and you can visit here unlimited times. Morning and afternoon allows you to capture the suns rays - if possible, visit during a "night" event....

This grandiose Japanese garden is an amazing experience. It’s so large and full of beautiful areas and small bits of history. Spent hours walking around soaking in the serenity and beauty. There’s a tea ceremony, a couple of museums and a boatload of pretty views. The people working there are absolutely doing a fantastic job keeping this pristine. Combined with a trip to Kanazawa castle and that area, you’ve enough to see for an entire day (if not more)

Went here long time ago. Weather wasn't good, rainy, so the place kinda empty. Very spacious, must be pretty if the weather is good. our local & non local guide recommended the gold ice cream here, expect a lot, turned out it was an edible gold foil on top of a vanilla ice cream 😅

A stunningly beautiful garden, one of the most beautiful in Japan. On a fine day a wonderful place to explore. There is also a museum of Japanese arts and crafts. This garden is next to Kanazawa Castle so both can be explored together. Outside the gardens there are many cafes and restaurants to enjoy.

I love this beautiful garden, the Japanese landscape is indeed perfect. Just next to Kanazawa castle grounds. Very wide garden, well maintained, I love how they take good care of this garden especially to the century old trees. Relaxing to stroll around the garden. Souvenir shop is also available. Foods stalls are available outside too.

This without a doubt the most beautiful garden in Japan! It's quite big and every single place you look at is beautiful and extremely well taken care of. It's perfect to walk around and feel the nature and have some time to relax, there are restrooms and a few restaurants & tea house. This is one of those places you don't want to leave!

Super beautiful botanical garden, came here at the height of the Cherry Blossom in April 2023 🌸 ans it was absolutely stunning. Even though it was a Sunday, and the entry fee was waived, it still wasn't too crowded once you go into the gardens a little bit. Plenty of nice spots and photo opportunities, although some require some waiting in a line.

This is one of the very famous Japanese garden in the world. I like the trees in different forms around the garden . The famous 3stone lantern is one of the landmark of the garden . A very peaceful garden for you to enjoy the Japanese Garden in a Zen way ! Hope I can visit it again in the near future.

Beautiful park that is definitely worth a visit, even in winter. It’s worth winding along the maze of paths to explore the different areas, from forests to little lakes. There are a few rest spots scattered throughout the park, which is handy for the odd break.

On selected days of the year, you can enter the garden for free after dark for a special light up!! The dates are chosen so that you can experience all 4 seasons of this amazing place. Check the website for specific dates 🍁 the autumn foliage made for some incredible framing at night

Beautiful gardens to wander around in. Plenty of different areas to view so even if it's busy you'll always find a quiet spot. Public toilets are available throughout and there a few places for food and drinks plus a gift shop. Bring your camera if you have one as it's a beautiful place for photos.

One of the best gardens in the world even when not in bloom. Among the top 3 in Japan but considered the most beautiful of them all, some of the views are world famous and rightly so. A real, unmissable gem.

One of the top three must-visit Japanese garden in Japan, located in city-center of Kanazawa. They say if you have a chance you should visit here every season just to see Kenrokuen in different color palette. The entrance fee is only 320 yen and it will take about an hour to walk around the park. It was amazing in Autumn. The park has an annual light-up event in November held from 5.30PM onwards. I went twice, once in the day and once in during the light-up. I would say that it is worth the visit. Both times give you different feeling and vibes.

We went there at night for light-up. We could enter free without waiting line! There are waiting line in the park but we could easily see everything within 40mins. Although it was freezing cold, the view was magnificent. I don’t know whether the event is happening through the year, but I highly recommend you to visit there at night. (The photos would be much more beautiful and clear with camera, not iphone;)

It was picturesque. The place was huge, but it was a beautiful garden. If you are not really into nature, you would probably get easily bored. There are food stalls outside as well where you can buy mochi, soft cream, and others. Their gold soft cream is a must-try.

Great place to visit! It's a garden park which has history behind it. If you are visiting Kanazawa and didn't visit here, you are missing the big deal! There are many castles in Japan but very few can compare to this garden!

One of the most beautiful Japanese gardens in Japan. We went in winter when the trees are dormant yet the starknsss of the empty branches gives a sense of peace. There are less people here at this time giving you more space to enjoy the serenity that such gardens offer.

Amazing garden, of course. Just docking one star because it's been optimized for crowds and lacks intimacy. I recommend adding on the villa which you can access from the garden. Go for opening time and get to the primary photo points first otherwise you might need to queue for the classic photo vistas. 2 hours for a garden lover. What makes this classic japanese garden a little different is its elevation, giving it views over Kanazawa as well

If you’re wondering if this place is worth it during winter it definitely is. Especially if it just snowed! It honestly has earned its name of the one of the most beautiful gardens in Japan, I can only imagine how pretty it is in spring!

Beautiful and clean garden near Kanazawa Castle, I was walking in here while enjoying the scenery. This place is perfect for people who enjoy taking natural photography. There is some shops that selling a gold leaf ice cream, it was quite pricey but when you have this in a sunny day it's worth to try.

Nice garden with good views. There are a lot of walking paths so in order to see everything you have to pin to some kind of route. Luckily Google Maps shows all walking paths. Some viewpoints have good views and on the side of the park you have some souvenir shops.

Lovely, tranquil garden boasting a variety of shrubs, trees and flowers. Some very elegant arrangements and plenty of places to admire the scenery dry or have a quick rest. Very accessible by bus from Kanazawa station and close to the castle, so it’s possible to combine visits.

One of the best gardens in Japan, tucked away in Kanazawa City. Come any season you like and the grounds will be marvelous in different ways. It's espeically an idyllic view if you come near the sunset, but you can definitely maximize it if you come early enough as we've tried before. Expect lots of crowds on tour buses.

I really liked this garden. We didn’t know what it was in the beginning and thought it was part of the castle garden. There’s lots of small paths and it feels like you’re in a real forest, very beautiful and reminded me of Totoro. Worth the visit, we visited around 17 and it was a perfect time.

The fall foliage is spectacular here! I visited in November, and it was also fun to see how all the trees are wrapped up and supported for the expected heavy snows in the winter. The park has many winding paths with bridges over flowing water, waterfalls, and Japan's oldest fountain. This feels like the carefully curated Japanese garden I was expecting with the castle. I was there in the morning, around 8:30 am, and there were many people working to sweep the paths clear of leaves. They left the leaves in the grassy areas, which leant an air of magic to the place. Admission is 320 yen for adults, which seems very reasonable to me for access to such a beautiful space!

Amazing garden. The centuries old pine trees are out of this world and I can’t even imagine how many gardeners are necessary to keep it in the shape it is. Azaleas were in bloom but mostly I found the pine trees unique. A must see

i love this garden but remember to go during spring or autumn. summer is a bit… monotonous. wear a pair of nice sports shoes coz a lot of walk AND the pebbles on the road will kill your nice fancy shoes!

Local attraction in Kanazawa City. Payment needed to enter : adult ¥320, children under 16 ¥100, elderly >65 yrs free. Good manicured garden and one of the big three gardens in Japan

The best garden in the world. Every 5 steps, I found a new view. It's really enjoyable to take pictures and relax. There are even some tea houses so I could get in and enjoy matcha and Japanese snacks.

Kenroku-en is a beautiful garden set amongst gentle rolling hills. Towards the back of the park, you can see a panoramic view of parts of Kanazawa. Overall about 1.5 to 2 hours should be enough time to see all of the grounds. Don’t forget to also check out the oldest fountain in Japan. It’s also here!

Well organised cum Strolling-Style Landscape Garden that was beautifully designed with various sizes of ponds, fountains, connecting bridges and even Tea huts. I was fascinated by the well trimmed plants of wide range. Entrance fee is required at 320 yen for adult.

A must-see garden in Kanazawa that lives up to its reputation as one of the perfect gardens of Japan. All aspects are lovingly tended to, preserving the traditional and original elements whilst grooming and maintaining it for the many visitors. The beauty and tranquillity of the gardens, ponds, waterfalls, bridges, fish and being able to walk around and enjoy it all is well worth it. I arrived early in the morning after opening time and there were not many people around. Crowds built a bit during the day but it didn't feel too crowded. For tickets, you can combine it with Kanazawa castle for a discounted rate and you can also re-enter on the same ticket on the same day. There's a souvenir store and food and beverage options available in the gardens.

I went there for fireflies hunt during night time and it was amazing. Even though it was rainy and wet but it was all worth it to see so many fireflies in front of you. They only open a few days in summer, need to check the dates carefully!

A beautiful garden, full of nooks and crannies to wander through. Living nearby, and getting to experience the seasons the garden goes through must be magical. I went when they were just putting up the rope supports to shield the tree from snow-load stress.

It's pure Japanese garden. Beautiful huge bonsai trees and well kept park. Lots of benches provided for resting and there are also modern and clean toilets in the park. My first visit here was winter and recently I came ( in summer), its totally different.

Very beautiful park and it doesn't cost much to enter! Most beautiful park I've been to in my entire life! Definitely worth a visit!

A must go if you are in Kanazawa (even if the 🌸 have not blossomed)! The garden itself it's very big and beautiful! It's the old Castle (which is under reconstruction) Garden and it's on a small hill with amazing views of the city

Beautiful park. Nice shops near one of the entrances and a couple of restrooms around the park. Lots of tourism here so getting family photos without other people in the background may be a challenge.

Beautiful Japanese garden with luscious moss bed (and interestingly, minimal grass!). Highly photogenic yet natural areas and the gardeners seem to be really serious at their work in maintaining this garden. The water streams are magical as the water just seems sufficient, with a smooth flow that is unperturbed. Lovely lake in the centre and is course the famous standing lamp that is the pride of Kanazawa. The only thing I didn't like was that it is near busy roads which kind of destroy the calm and peace.

Beautiful garden to stroll around. We were there on a hot and humid day which was a struggle. There's plenty of shade but impossible to stay out of the sun completely. Despite the hot weather we enjoyed our time walking through the little woods, looking at the ponds, bridges, shrines, tea houses, etc. You can tell there's tremendous effort spent maintaining this garden. Entry was 320 yen.
